Last week, Redmi unveiled the Redmi K50 Ultra in China. Reports have claimed that this device will be debuting in October with the Xiaomi 12T Pro name in the global market. Speculations are rife that a vanilla model named the Xiaomi 12T will also debut alongside it. A recent report revealed the configuration, color variants, and price range of the Xiaomi 12T series. Now, a new leak by Snoopy Techhas revealed the exact price of the 12T series.
According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 12T will come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will be available in Black, Silver, and Blue. It will be priced at 649 euros.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro will also come in the same configuration and color variants. It will be priced at 849 euros. As mentioned above, it may borrow its design and specifications from the K50 Ultra.
Redmi K50 Ultra
The Xiaomi 12T Pro is expected to feature a 6.67-inch OLED FHD+ 144Hz display with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It will run on the MIUI 13-based Android 12 OS. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip may power the device with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The 12T Pro is likely to house a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. It may arrive with a 20-megapixel front camera and a 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit.P
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12T is expected to pack the same specifications but feature the Dimensity 8100-Ultra chip instead of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. In addition, it is expected to carry support for 67W fast charging.
Currently, Realme has enough tablets to compete from the entry-level segment to the midrange one. It still lacks a flagship tablet, but there are already three affordable devices in its portfolio. If we talk about Chinese Android tablets, its biggest competitor is Xiaomi, with more or less the same amount of last-generation tablets. That is the reason why a lot of people are wondering which tablet to buy between Realme and Xiaomi. Realme’s highest-end tablet is the Realme Pad X, packing midrange-class specifications. It is sold in the same price range as Xiaomi’s most affordable last-generation tablet: the Xiaomi Pad 5. This is a comparison between the main specifications of the Realme Pad X and the Xiaomi Pad 5 which will highlight the differences between these two tablets and let you understand which one has the highest value for money.

Design
The design of the Xiaomi Pad 5 is slightly more interesting than the one of the Realme Pad X. Unlike its opponent in this comparison, it is built with an aluminum frame and a plastic back, while the Pad X is built with a plastic frame and a plastic back, so cheaper materials. Further, the Xiaomi tablet is thinner, with a thickness of just 6.9 mm. In terms of weight, the Realme one is lighter, but given that its materials are cheaper, the Pad 5 wins the design comparison. Both the tablets feature a very high screen to body ratio, with the display covering more than 80 percent of the front panel. These tablets support a stylus for handwriting and drawing, as well as a keyboard to transform them into mini laptops. That is why they are suitable for productivity and studying.
Display
If you are looking for the best display, then you should opt for the Xiaomi Pad 5. It has an 11-inch panel with IPS LCD technology. This display is able to show up to one billion colors with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10 certification, and Dolby Vision support. The Realme Pad X has an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 10.95 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels: as you can notice, the resolution is lower and even the refresh rate. So there is no challenge. However, none of these tablets has an advanced display: given that they are two IPS panels, you cannot expect the vibrant color and the deep blacks of an AMOLED display, but you get less impressive colors. Both the devices come with four stereo speakers but they do not feature a fingerprint reader.
Specs & Software
If you are looking for the best performance, then the Xiaomi Pad 5 wins this comparison because it has a superior chipset. We are talking about a Snapdragon 860 mobile platform by Qualcomm built with a 7 nm production process and with an octa-core architecture. It is composed of a Kryo 485 CPU running at a max frequency of 2.96 GHz, three Kryo 485 CPUs with a 2.42 GHz frequency, and four Kryo 485 CPUs running at 1.78 GHz, as well as an Adreno 640 GPU. The SoC is paired with 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. The Realme Pad X is equipped with a Snapdragon 695 5G chipset paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage: an inferior chipset and less storage. But it brings two important advantages: the optional 4G LTE connectivity thanks to a SIM slot, and the expandable storage through a micro SD slot. Both the tablets run a customized Android version based on Android 11.
Camera
The Xiaomi Pad 5 and the Realme Pad X are equipped with a single camera on the rear sporting a 13 MP resolution. The Xiaomi Pad 5 wins the camera comparison because this camera has a brighter f/2.0 focal aperture and it is able to record 4K videos at 30 fps, while the Realme has an f/2.2 focal aperture and it only records 1080p videos. On the other hand, the Pad X has a better front camera: an 8 MP snapper with a FOV of 105 degrees and an f/2.0 focal aperture. Unfortunately, all the cameras belong to the entry-level segment, so you should not expect amazing performances.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 is equipped with a bigger battery: the capacity is 8720 mAh and the battery supports 33W fast charging. This tablet provides longer battery life than the Realme Pad X because the latter has a smaller 8340 mAh, while the charging speeds are more or less the same as this device carries the support to 33W fast charging too.
Price
If you want to buy the Realme Pad X, you need to pay at least $256/€250 for the base variant with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, while the Xiaomi Pad 5 starts from $360/€350 in the Chinese market, but it is available at lower street prices because it hitten the shelves a year ago. The Xiaomi Pad 5 wins this comparison due to its better display and chipset.

The much-hyped Nothing Phone (1) debuted last month and since then the smartphone has been surrounded by a bunch of controversies. We have already seen numerous reports highlighting manufacturing defects in the phone. Now, a new issue related to the display of the smartphone is making headlines.
Nothing Phone (1) was launched with a 6.55-inch full-HD+OLED display that was claimed to reach a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. However, a ComputerBase report reveals that the Phone (1) can reach only up to 700 nits. The publication even tried to recreate very specific situations that might have been able to trigger the phone’s automatic brightness to reach up to the advertised amount but it still couldn’t get more than 700 nits brightness.
Other sites such as GSMArena and Heise have also confirmed that the Phone (1) is indeed not as bright as advertised.
ComputerBase contacted Nothing regarding this issue and was told that “the peak values are around 700 nits for brightness. Nothing will adjust this in the future.” The publication claims that Nothing has also reduced the advertised brightness on its official website.
A report by XDA got a response from Nothing. The company states that “the hardware is capable of reaching up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, but this is currently capped by the software to 700 nits. This decision was made to ensure a balanced user experience regarding heat and battery consumption. We look forward to hearing from our users about this and will monitor feedback closely to understand if this should be addressed in future software updates.”
Judging from the statement, it seems unlikely that the company will increase the brightness to 1200nits. However, it may roll out an update to do so if the customers demand.
Vivo is preparing to announce the V25 series in India on August 17. The series is said to include three smartphones– Vivo V25, Vivo V25 Pro, and Vivo V25e. We already saw the design of the vanilla model in a recent leak. Now, thanks to a new report, we can have an early look at the Vivo V25 and V25e. The report also reveals that the phones in question could launch in two color options each.
Tipster Paras Guglani, in association with 91mobiles, has shared live images of the upcoming Vivo V25 and Vivo 25e. The images suggest that both the devices will have a similar design. They can be seen to house a triple rear camera setup accompanied by an LED flash on the back. The camera module can be seen to stick out of the rear panel. “AI Camera” can also be seen written on the module. The images only show us the back of the smartphone.
Vivo V25 and V25e
Further, the report also reveals some details about the color options of the devices. The Vivo V25 is claimed to be available in Sunrise Gold and Diamond Black color options, whereas the Vivo V25e will arrive in Orange and Black color options. Moreover, the sunrise Gold version of the Vivo V25 might also have a beautiful color-changing back just like the Vivo V23 series.
While both Vivo V25 and V25e have almost identical designs, they will likely have entirely different specs sheets. The Vivo V25e is expected to be the more affordable member of the series. It is said to come with only 4G connectivity. It is currently unknown whether the device will be launched in India or not.
Anker has unveiled the PowerCore 24K portable charger with a 140W fast charging capability. The new device comes with a 24,000mAh battery which can be charged as well as used to charge other devices at 140W charging speed. The portable PowerCore 24K comes with significant improvements from its predecessor and is already available on demand.
The Anker PowerCore 24K operates under the Power Delivery 3.1 architecture. It has overshot the previous maximum charging power by 40W, from its previous 100W speed. There are two USB-C ports that can simultaneously output 140W charging while the USB-A port charges at 18W. The new power bank is based on the GaN 3 technology deployed in Anker’s recent GaNPrime chargers. The technology delivers a more efficient AC-DC conversion and higher power output. The technology also provides a more compact and temperature-efficient charging device.
The PowerCore 24K has a smart digital display that shows charging information. It provides information such as the power draw for each connected device, the power status of the power bank, and recharge time. Anker says that the display should only be used when needed to conserve available power. Other chargers also launched by Anker include the Anker 747 GaNPrime with 150W charging from a single port. The Anker 747 GaNPrime does not have the Power Delivery 3.1 technology. The maximum power that can come simultaneously from the Anker 747 is 100W.
You can purchase the PowerCore 24K directly from the Anker website or via Amazon for $149.99. The package does not include the device charger or a USB-C cable. The device requires a PD 3.1-capable charger and USB-C cable to achieve its specified 140W charging.

A teardown video has surfaced showing how the Moto Razr 2022 has an improved hinge design from its predecessor, the Razr 5G. The Razr 2022 sports a fixed display at both ends while it folds the middle in a teardrop shape. The Moto Razr 2022 looks more exquisite without the chin.
The teardown video of the Razr 2022 came from WekiHome. The folding mechanism of both the Razr 5G and the Razr 2022 were examined in the video. The newer model has thin metal strips in the middle which help to secure the display from the folding pressure. This has resulted in a significantly smaller crease area in the Moto Razr 2022 than its predecessor.
The teardown video also shows the split-battery setup in the Razr 2022. It has a 712mAh battery in the top half while a 2,788mAh battery sits on the bottom half. The two batteries output 2.8Wh and 10.9Wh respectively. The cooling mechanisms of the device consist of a thermal paste, a copper block, and copper sheets. The Razr 2022 is powered by the top-end Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and lacks a vapor chamber. The improved hinge design of the Moto Razr 2022 raises the stakes for the possibility of a global rollout.
At the moment, Motorola has restricted the Razr 2022 to the Chinese market. Inside sources have already speculated that the new model will follow the trajectory of the Razr 5G which also entered the global market.

Apple has asked its suppliers to make 90 million iPhone 14 units. The Cupertino-based tech giant plans to make roughly about 220 million iPhones in total in 2022 which is the same as last year. The latest information comes from the publication Bloomberg who cites people familiar with the matter. Apple is counting on demand from affluent customers and lesser competition in the smartphone market due to the global economic slowdown.
As per IDC forecast, the global smartphone market is expected to shrink 3.5 percent in 2022 after the market slid to 9 percent in the June quarter this year. Apple’s projections suggest that it is confident of weathering the storm. Huawei’s disappointing performance has weakened the competition in the premium smartphone segment. Additionally, shipments of Android phones are also going down.
Till 2021, Apple kept the sales figures of new iPhones at roughly 75 million units. Last year, it upgraded its target to 90 million units in anticipation of the increased demand due to COVD-19’s decline. Bloomberg reports that the percentage rise in iPhone sales will continue to be in the ‘single digits’ throughout the short to medium term.
Apple is expected to unveil four iPhone 14 models next month. The Pro variants will reportedly come with a new design on the front, an improved selfie camera, a new rear camera, and a faster A16 processor.

India might soon be adopting a policy similar to the European Union in terms of having a single common charging standard for mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, and certain other consumer electronic products.
According to a News18report, the government has apparently called a meeting for all industry stakeholders, which will be held on August 17. As per the PTI report, the government aims on holding a discussion to remove the use of different chargers. The primary intention behind this is to both reduce the burden on consumers and also prevent unnecessary electronic waste. This move by the Indian government would be in line with the standards being adopted by the European Union.
For those unaware, the EU has been pushing tech based brands to adopt a universal charging port standard with the USB Type C. This rule will be enforced by the year 2024 in the region and it appears that India plans on have adopting a similar mandate. As per the government official speaking to PTI, “If companies can serve in Europe and the US, why cannot they do it in India? Portable electronic devices like smartphones and tablets should have a common charger.”
At the moment, major smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus, and more have already adopted USB Type C port a while ago. However, Apple is the only top smartphones brand that has yet to adopt this standard as it still ships its products with its proprietary Lightning Port for the iPhone.
We had recently covered on a report regarding the Indian government possibly banning smartphones made by Chinese brands that are priced under 12,000 INR (roughly 150 US Dollars) in the Indian smartphone market. But now, a new report has hinted that this might not be the case anymore.
Lava Blaze
For those unaware, the earlier report talked about government officials stating that the move to ban cheaper smartphones from China is to better promote local brands and help them gain a stronger standing in the Indian market. At the moment, handsets made by Chinese OEMs are the most popular models in the region. But it appears that the might not be put into effect. According to a CNBC TV18 report, the government has no immediate plans for such ban as of right now.
The report further adds that even if such a ban is conceptualized by the government, actually enforcing it is a different task entirely. It won’t be so easy and an industry expert claims that three out of every 10 smartphone sold in India is priced under 12,000 INR. And in this price segment, 78 percent of all smartphones sold are made by China based brands. This basically means that these Chinese brands have a dominance in this category of handsets.

On the other hand, brands from the US like Apple, and South Korean tech giant Samsung account for just 20 percent of the Indian market. So, a bit more than just 1 percent of all smartphones sold in India are from Indian companies, like Micromax, Lava, and Karbonn. Thus, it won’t be surprising if the Indian government actually has plans for the future to better even out the playing field for different brands.
A new report has revealed that at least one former employee of Twitter has been accused of helping a Saudi Arabia spy. Apparently, this person is also facing possible prison time as well in the US.
According to a Bloombergreport, an ex Twitter worker has allegedly been helping Saudi Arabi spy on critics. Furthermore, a jury in San Francisco has convicted US resident Ahmad Abouammo of serving as an agent for Saudi Arabia. The jury also accused the person of falsifying records, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. As per the prosecutors, Abouammo took bribes from a key aide to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Bader Al Asaker back in 2015.
These bribes were taken in exchange for sensitive account info that could be used to track and silence dissidents. In other words, he leaked information to help bury protestors. In his defense, the former media partnership manager said that he was only doing his job. Although, the prosecution uncovered evidence of Abouammo received Hublot watches from the aide worth a whopping 300,000 US Dollars and 20,000 US Dollars.
As of right now, Abouammo is facing a sentence of around 10 to 20 years in prison. Meanwhile, he and his legal team have declined to comment on the matter. Notably, this case highlights concerns regarding the potential for staff that are working at social media giant platforms. These workers potentially have the power to abuse account information, despite companies like Twitter claiming that employees have limited data access.
