Xiaomi will be launching the NFC enabled variant of the Mi Band 4 in Europe within the next couple of weeks. This version has only been available in China exclusively so far, but it will soon launch in Russia with a European launch arriving soon after.
During the initial launch, only Mastercard will be supported and users will have to add their cards in the Mi Fit app and select their region as well. The Mi Band 4 will eventually support Visa, Google Pay, and even PayPal. However, the Chinese tech giant has yet to reveal an official launch date for the update for these formats.
Furthermore, users of the Mi Band 4 will also be able to use NFC for public transports apart from just contactless payments. Mastercard’s PayPass is currently supported in Russia as well as a few countries in Europe, including Italy, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey, France, and the United Kingdom.
For those interested, look out for the model number MGW4059RU for the NFC version of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4. The wearables will launch in Russia on 16th June 2020 and will cost 4,000 RUB (roughly 58 US Dollars), which is about 30 percent higher than the previous version. Notably, Xiaomi is also expected to launch the Mi Band 5 on 11th June 2020, with global NFC support and a larger display, so stay tuned for the launch.
China’s top chipmaker, SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International), plans to raise 20 billion Yuan or roughly 2.8 billion US Dollars in Shanghai’s Star Market. The move arrives after the US attempts to hamper the growth of its rival tech companies.
Previously, SMIC had withdrawn its American depositary receipts or ADRs from the New York stock exchange back in 2019. Now, the company is planning on using the large proceedings raised for the Star Market to develop its latest 12 inch SN1 chip and bump its capital. For those unaware, the Star Market is China’s response to America’s Nasdaq, which was the birthplace of many tech giants.
According to Zhou Ling, a fund manager with Shanghai Shiva Investment, “The Star Market is now playing its role as a strategic fundraising platform to bolster the country’s own technology companies as the US-China relationship worsens.” SMIC is Mainland China’s largest semiconductor foundry and a key chipmaker, raising the large sum to support itself better against US sanctions that aim to prevent China’s rise in the tech industry.
The semiconductor based company previously received major funding of 2.25 billion US Dollars back in May through Chinese state investors to help fund the expansion of its facility in Shanghai. It plans on raising its 14nm wafers production capacity from 6,000 to 35,000. This sizeable growth led the US Commerce Department to take drastic actions to stifle such growth, with an example being the cutting off of supply for chips from TSMC to Huawei. So, US sanctions could potentially still hamper operations for SMIC, but only time will tell how the US-China tech wars play out.

Amid the on-going protests in the United States, incidents related to looting and vandalism have also increased in the country. Some took advantage of the situation and looted products from the Apple Store.
The company warned the looters that they will be tracked down. Apple is also using software on demo products that basically makes the looted products useful and prevents it from being reset to factory settings.
So, the products are totally useless apart from being used as a paperweight. As someone recently tweeted the phone, the looted Apple iPhone shows a message that reads: “This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.”
— josh (apex male) (@onlyfanobtainer) May 31, 2020
This is the first time we are seeing Apple’s device tracking software for the demo devices in works. While Apple has clearly stated that it is tracking the device, it has not yet clarified if the company or the law enforcement plans to do anything with the collected data.
Amid all this, the company’s CEO Tim Cook has sent out a memo to the staff in these trying times. The memo reads: “I have heard from so many of you that you feel afraid – afraid in your communities, afraid in your daily lives, and, most cruelly of all, afraid in your own skin. We can have no society worth celebrating unless we can guarantee freedom from fear for every person who gives this country their love, labor, and life.”
Motorola‘s return to premium smartphone segments arrives with the new Motorola Edge+. It was the company’s first flagship handset in years and the company has put a lot of effort into it, which shows since its DxOMark camera ratings are even higher than the Google Pixel 4 and Apple iPhone 11 with a total score of 113 points.
The Motorola Edge+ sports a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary lens is a 108 megapixel sensor that captures images through quad bins and outputs at 27 megapixels. Taking advantage of the high pixel count, the device also offers short zoom as well. The handset also sports an 8 megapixel telephoto lens that delivers 3x optical zoom and its last sensor is the 16 megapixel ultra wide angle lens.
In the camera testing, the Motorola Edge+ scored 119 points in photography and 101 points in videography. The flagship device was praised for its image sensors exposure, color accuracy, fast and accurate autofocus, and overall noise reduction in images. With the handset being able to capture videos in 6K at 30fps, its exposure in this regard was again commended.
The stabilization on the Motorola Edge+ received a great score, with color accuracy and accurate autofocus being well received as well. With such a high score, the device is undoubtedly a true flagship from the company. DxOMark did notice a few flaws here and there but offered a decent review of the Motorola handset.
Xiaomi is no longer just a tech company as the company has entered almost all of the product categories that are possible or are required in a household. The company has already launched sofa sets and is now crowdfunding a new electric sofa.
The company has launched a new crowdfunding campaign for Qifeng Electric Sofa which starts at 1,599 yuan that roughly converts to $225. Similar to other such products, this one too is limited to the Chinese market only.
As for the design, the new Qifeng Electric Sofa from Xiaomi comes in a Nordic minimalistic style and is being made available in Black and White and Gray colors so that it can be matched with any household decoration.
It appears to have used Thai latex and high-elastic cotton materials for making this sofa to ensure good wrapping and comfort for the users. It supports the recliner adjustment of 103-degree to 160-degree and also has a one-switch function to switch between sitting mode and lying mode.
A few years ago, the company had crowdfunded the 8H American Spring Fabric Sofa that was manufactured by Chengdu Fun Sleep Technology Co. It was available as a single sitter, double sitter, and three-sitter form, each with a different price tag but the sofa had a starting price of 1,599 yuan.
Later, the company crowdfunded another sofa set — Yang Zi Leather Sofa, which the company claimed had won iF and Good Design awards. Claimed to last for about a decade, the pricing of the sofa started at 2,999 yuan.
In an effort to boost sales, Apple has officially slashed the prices in China as the country is on the step to slowly reopens during the Coronavirus pandemic. The lowered prices will be seen during JD.com’s 618 shopping festival where customers can find cut down prices of available iPhone models.
Apple hasn’t officially discounted the actual prices for iPhones on its website but other third party retailers will offer the current generation of iPhones at lowered prices. China’s Tmall is offering the 64GB iPhone 11 variant for 4,779 Yuan (roughly 670 US Dollars), which is about a 13 percent discount from the original 5,499 Yuan (roughly 774 US Dollars) price tag of the device.
iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
Similarly, the iPhone 11 Pro is being offered at a 13 percent discount as well, with prices falling from 8,699 Yuan to 7,579 Yuan (roughly 1,066 US Dollars). The iPhone 11 Pro Max is also available for 8,359 Yuan (roughly 1,177 US Dollars), down from 9,599 Yuan. Apple is also slashing prices of its newly launched iPhone SE as well, dropping to 3,099 Yuan (roughly 436 US Dollars) from 3,299 Yuan.
On JD.com, Apple iPhone sees an even sharper price cut, with the 64GB iPhone 11 dropping to 4,599 Yuan (roughly 646 US Dollars), which is 180 Yuan cheaper than Tmall’s prices. The lowered prices are reflected with other models as well, with the iPhone 11 Pro arriving at 6,999 Yuan (roughly 984 US Dollars) and iPhone 11 Pro Max being sold for 7,499 Yuan (roughly 1054 US Dollars). The iPhone SE 2020 is also priced at 3,069 Yuan (roughly 431 US Dollars) on JD.com, which is also the official Apple reseller in China.
iPhone SE 2020
According to a JD.com spokesperson, the massive Apple discounts are having the “desired effect” as sales of Apple products during the sales have nearly tripled. The 618 shopping festival will run for a couple of days and while Apple doesn’t usually take part in it, the declining performance during the first quarter of 2020 has made the company act proactively to urge people to upgrade their handsets.
POCO, the so-called independent smartphone brand backed by Xiaomi, is all set to launch a new smartphone in the Indian market. The company has shared a new teaser video confirming the same.
The teaser video, shared by POCO India on its Twitter account, highlights the company’s dedication towards the Indian market. It also reiterates the fact the company was formed in India about two years ago and is making phones in India under the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative.
With a dream of serving Indian consumers, @IndiaPOCO was born 2 years ago in Delhi, India.
We took ahead the #MakeInIndia initiative by making products and services that are crafted for India.
The new marketing campaign from the company is #POCOForIndia, which as the hashtag clearly indicates, highlights how the brand is dedicated to the Indian market. The campaign comes at a time when certain sections of people are calling for the boycott of Chinese products because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As for the new smartphone teased by the company, it has not yet revealed which model will get launched in the country, nor has the brand provided any timeline for the same. We expect POCO to share more information about this in the coming days or weeks.
The company recently launched the POCO F2 Pro smartphone which is currently available for purchase in the United States and Europe and recently got launched in Malaysia. So, the company could bring out this model in the Indian market.
Another smartphone that could get launched in India is the POCO M2. It has been leaked a few times in the past and recently, the device passed through the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certification process.
Along with this new smartphone, we expect the company to launch its first truly wireless earphones. POCO had recently crowdsourced the naming of its TWS earphones and the majority of people voted for POCO Pop Buds.
We recently revealed that the next-generation version of the Xioami’s most popular Mi Band series of wearable devices, Mi Band 5, has been officially teased by the company to get launched in China on 11th June.
Now, a new teaser poster of the upcoming Mi Band 5 has been spotted online on the micro-blogging platform Weibo. The image hints at the design of the upcoming wearable device, which seems quite similar to the previous models in the lineup.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will feature the same rectangular display but it seems that there will be two buttons on each side. In terms of design, it is said that this time, users won’t need to remove the device from the strap to charge it as it’ll come with a plug-in charger.
The leak on Weibo also reveals that the fitness tracker will have five new activity modes — yoga, elliptical machine, rowing machine, rope jumping, and indoor cycling. It will also come with a bigger 1.2-inch display and support for a feather allowing users to control the smartphone camera’s shutter.
Another major feature will come in the form of support for Amazon Alexa smart voice assistant for the global market. In China, the Mi Band already supports the company’s own XiaoAI smart assistant. As for the Alexa support, it’s safe to assume that the device won’t be preloaded with Alexa but will answer the user query through the Alexa app installed on the connected smartphone.
The Mi Band is also being sold in China with NFC support that enabled contactless payments. This time, the NFC model won’t be limited to the Chinese market and thus, it is expected to have support for Google Pay. We expect the company to start sharing details about the device in the coming days.
Coming to the pricing, the Mi Band 5 is rumored to be priced around 180 yuan which is about $26 and is set to be announced on 11th June. We expect the device to soon go on sale after the official announcement.
Apple has been bumping up the sizes of its existing iPad offerings with each passing generation. The iPad Air 3 (2019) sported a 10.5 inch display, but a new leak has revealed that the fourth generation of the tablet will sport an 11 inch screen size similar to the high end iPad Pro.
According to a recent report, Chinese suppliers of Apple have stated that the iPad Air 4’s body is built with reference to the current 11 inch iPad Pro. This implies that rather than increasing the size of the tablet, the Cupertino based giant could be narrowing the bezels on the device and could even introduce Face ID components as well. Unfortunately, this is still unconfirmed officially and the exact sizes are also unknown.
Furthermore, the report mentioned that iPad Air 4 will be replacing the proprietary Lightning port in favor of the USB Type C port. This change will also be reflected in the latest generation of iPad Mini, which will also have its display size increased from 7.9 inch to an 8.5 inch screen.
Under the hood, the upcoming iPad Air and iPad Mini models will reportedly feature Apple’ A13 chipset. The high end iPad Pro is said to feature the A14X chipset along with 5G networking and new display technology, namely the mini LED. Although, these are still just an unconfirmed leak for the time being, so take this report with a grain of salt.
Last month, there were reports making rounds that Google could launch a new Chromecast Ultra device in the market which will be based on the Android TV operating system. Now, more information about the device has surfaced online.
Dubbed as Google Sabrina, the upcoming device is an Android TV dongle. It has a pebble-like design which is a bit taller than the current Chromecast device. From the leaked images, there’s a big “G” branding on the device and it’ll be made available in three color options — Black, White, and Pink.
The device will also come with a new Remote Control and from the images, it seems like it’s very similar to the Daydream View. Apart from the ring-based navigation on the top, there are six buttons — back, Assistant, home, star/favorite, play/pause, and volume mute.
Another interesting detail leaked online is the revamp of the Android TV interface based on the content. Some reports point out that the Android TV could get renamed to Google TV which this new device gets launched.
The upcoming product, which is codenamed “Sabrina”, is reportedly powered by an Amlogic chipset and will come with support for Dolby Audio. While some reports suggest Nest branding for the device, the retail name still remains under the wrap.
The leaked images show that the home screen on the software has a top bar where the search field is present on the top-left corner. Then you get options like For you, Movies, TV, Live, Apps, and My Library. The layout looks quite similar to the current layout of the Play Store on Android TV.

After months of rumors, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is finally going to hit the Chinese market. It is definitely one of the most awaited wearables of 2020 since it belongs to the best-selling smart band series of all times. A few days ahead of the launch, we can give you a lot of info about the upcoming smart band. Here you will find a rumor roundup with all the info we got about the specs, features, and launch of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. As we always recommend, unless we say there is an official confirmation, take everything with a pinch of salt since a lot of info provided is only based on rumors and leaks. But we chose the most reliable ones.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Rumor Roundup: Specs, Features, and Launch
Design
If leaks are to be believed, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will have a very futuristic design. According to a leaked image, it will sport a full borderless display with very narrow bezels. It will be like punch-hole displays found in the most modern smartphones, but instead of the front camera, the display will house a single button. The design you can see above would make the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 the first full borderless smart band ever released. The shape of the wearable is similar to the one of its predecessor Mi Band 4. But the photo above was not confirmed officially and earlier speculations suggested that the Mi Band 5 will have the same design as the Mi Band 4.
UPDATE: The company has so far confirmed that the fitness tracker will come in four color options: Black, Green, Yellow, and Red. The color variants have been revealed in an official poster confirming the design. The display will have narrower bezels than Mi Band 4.
The display of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is said to be an OLED panel with a diagonal of 1.2 inches: bigger if compared to the Mi Band 4 which has a 0.95-inch display. In the above leaked unofficial image, you can clearly see a color display showing time, date, and remaining battery charge, as well as a central button that will be used to control the user interface. The display will support a lot of new watch faces. The display will be reportedly brighter and display more contrast.
UPDATE: Xiaomi officially confirmed that the Mi Band 5 will come with a 20 percent larger display, which is in line with the reports claiming that the Mi Band 5 will have a 1.2-inch screen, slightly larger than the 0.95-inch display in the predecessor. A leaked image revealed that there will be an Avengers watch face available in the software.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will have a lot of interesting features compared to other smart bands. It is supposed to come with NFC support and according to rumors, outside of China, it might support even Google Pay, unlike its predecessor. According to a leak, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will support various activity tracking modes including running, cycling, skipping, swimming, and more. Certain new modes will include yoga and indoor cycling, for a total of 11 different activity tracking modes.
A unique feature will be the support to Amazon Alexa smart voice assistant for those who use it outside of China, which will make the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 an IoT device. The wearable will reportedly support camera controls, which is likely in the form of taking images, videos, and more. Further, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will include an accurate heart rate sensor and a SpO2 sensor to monitor the blood oxygen level. It will have additional features like menstrual cycle tracking and PAI, which stands for Personal Activity Intelligence (the same you can find on Amazfit wearables by Huami).
UPDATE: according to the latest rumors, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will support Google Pay transactions in its global variants, thanks to the NFC connectivity. Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will launch with 7 major upgrades, including professional sensors. It is speculated to arrive with an enhanced SpO2 sensor, a dedicated sensor for measuring stress and breathing activity of the user, and 11 professional sports modes. While the global version will support Amazon Alexa, the Chinese edition will have the Xiao AI voice assistant on board. There will also be a women’s health mode and a remote control feature. Further, users will get a Do not disturb mode that will allow them to silence it for a set time period.
Unfortunately, there is no info about the battery life and the battery capacity of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. But we do not believe that the battery life of the new wearable will be different from the one of its predecessor. The Mi Band 4 offers up to 20 days of battery life on a single charge, depending on the usage. There are several optional modes and settings (such as lift-to-view and continuous heart-rate monitoring) that make the battery life shorter.
UPDATE: a teaser surfaced online just confirmed that Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will come with new magnetic charging technology. To charge previous smart bands from the Mi Band series, it was mandatory to remove the device from the strap. Thanks to the new technology, it is not anymore: this time the company is using a magnetic charging pin placed on the back on the device on which the user can stick the charger without removing the band from the strap. The magnetic charging pin is placed near the heart rate sensor. Thanks to this technology, putting the smart band on charge will become a lot quicker and more comfortable.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Launch, Price and Availability
According to an official teaser posted by the company, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will be officially launched in the Chinese market on June 11. The launch event will be taking place as a part of the company’s product lineup set for the upcoming 618 sale event in China. Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is said to carry a price tag of 179 Yuan in China, which roughly translates into 26 US dollars.
Realme entered the Indian smart TV market with the launch of Realme TV last week. The brand’s televisions come in two sizes – 32” and 43”. Now, the company’s Indian CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed that Realme will be soon launching a premium 55-inch TV.
The first sale of Realme TV was held recently. According to the brand, it sold over 15,000 units in less than 10 minutes. That’s an impressive sales figure for a new entrant in the smart TV market.
Also, in an interview with IANS, he mentioned that 55-inch TVs are considered as premium and flagship. Hence, Realme is preparing to launch a 55-inch smart TV soon to ‘give users more ground-breaking experiences’.
Realme’s current TV offerings (32-inch and 43-inch) are similar to models by competitors. Only two things make them stand out and they are MediaTek processor and 24W quad stereo speaker.
There are a couple of TVs from Iffalcon that offer 4K panels at a similar price to Realme’s 43-inch model which has a 1080p screen. The competition is even tougher in the 55-inch segment.
We will have to wait and see if Realme can make a difference in India’s smart TV market as it did with smartphones.
Realme recently launched the first device in the X3 series dubbed as Realme X3 SuperZoom in Europe. This handset is also available in Thailand and is now making its way to Indonesia. Amidst this, two other models in the series have been spotted on Google Play supported devices list and India’s BIS certification. These handsets could be the regular Realme X3 and Regular X3 Pro.
1 of 2
Realme is known for launching successors to its devices in four to six months. The Realme X first debuted in May 2019 and was soon followed by Realme X2 and X2 Pro in September and October of the same year. Then, after a year from the launch of the first device in the series, the brand launched Realme X3 SuperZoom.
Just like the previous handsets in the series, the third generation is also expected to get other models. The upcoming next two phones in the Realme X3 series have been recently spotted by MySmartPrice on Google Play supported devices list and BIS certification suggesting them to launch in India soon.
Unfortunately, nothing is known about these phones except for their model numbers. First of all, RMX2086 is the already official Realme X3 SuperZoom. That leaves RMX2081 and RMX2085 to be Realme X3 and Realme X3 Pro respectively.
Anyway, we would like to take this information with a pinch of salt as the website which spotted it mentions the findings as speculation.
