The Axon 30 Pro is not the only phone ZTE has planned for release soon. The manufacturer has also announced it will announce a new series of smartphones too, the first of which will launch as the ZTE S. Today, we get our first look at the upcoming phone.

A poster shared on Weibo by ZTE’s CEO, Ni Fei, gives us an early look at the ZTE S. However, the image only shows the rear of the device.

As seen in the image above, the ZTE S will have four rear cameras with the primary camera being a 64MP sensor. The camera housing which is raised has a dual finish – some parts appear to have a smooth finish while the other has a glistering sandstone-like finish.

The ZTE S has a curved back that looks to be made of glass and the color variant is a pink-blue gradient. Based on the finish, we are sure the appearance of the phone will change with respect to the angle light rays falls on it. If you are not a fan of this color, we believe there will be other colorways at launch.

A lot is still unknown about the ZTE S which is targeted at the younger generation. Nevertheless, we expect more details will surface as the launch date, which is still unknown, draws closer. When it does launch, it should be more affordable than the Axon series.

OPPO unveiled the Reno5 Pro+ today in China but hours before then, a less powerful variant that doesn’t have 5G support appeared on the web. This model, which is called the Reno5 4G is meant for global markets and while it is yet to launch, its specs and design have become public knowledge thanks to an early hands-on video.

The Reno5 4G hands-on video was posted on Youtube by the Indonesian publication, Nextren Grid. The video seems to have been taken at a store, but surprisingly there is no news of a launch.

The OPPO Reno5 4G comes in a Cyan-colored box with a big bold 5 written at the top left corner and the phone’s name at the bottom. The phone is shown in two colors – Starry Black and Fantasy White but it is the latter that is better looking with its color-switching design even though it is made of plastic. It also seems to be the one better at hiding fingerprints.

OPPO ships the phone with a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a hole in the top left corner of the screen and a 90Hz refresh rate. There is Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against scratches and under the screen is a fingerprint scanner. As revealed earlier this month in a leak, the Reno5 4G does come with the same processor as the Reno4 4G which is a Snapdragon 720G processor. Users get a single configuration – 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

The Reno5 4G has a raised camera housing that is home to four sensors and an LED flash. The back of the phone is made of plastic. The camera housing is larger than that of its predecessor thanks to the fourth camera which is now bigger. The primary sensor is a 64MP camera and it comes along with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. There is a single selfie camera and it is a 44MP sensor.

OPPO has included a 4310mAh battery and it supports 50W fast charging. They also ship the phone with ColorOS 11 based on Android 11. Unfortunately, there is no mention of the price of the phone but we don’t expect a significant jump in price.

The upgrades between this new model and the Reno4 4G can be narrowed down to improved cameras, battery capacity, and faster charging. With respect to performance, there should be no difference. If the phone isn’t announced before the end of this month, expect an announcement in early January.

In late September, a leak revealed the camera specifications of the Galaxy A72. It mentioned that the phone will have a total of six cameras, with five of them on the back. Now another leak has surfaced and it says the phone may come with one less camera.

Vietnamese leaker, Chun, posted on Twitter that the final version of the Galaxy A72 will only have four cameras instead of five. Based on the phrasing, it appears that Samsung initially wanted four rear cameras before deciding to cut back on the number of sensors.

The new leak doesn’t say which sensor has been removed but the first leak from September says the phone has a 64MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. If Samsung is removing a sensor, it is either the macro or depth camera. Our guess is that it is the former since the phone already has a telephoto camera, so a depth camera is redundant.

Its predecessor, the Galaxy A71 5G which launched in April has a similar camera that is a 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor. So a telephoto camera for the Galaxy A72 is the perfect upgrade.

There is still a lot we do not know about the phone but we expect more details will surface in the weeks leading up to its launch. Nevertheless, we have a few guesses of our own.

THe Galaxy A72 should have an Exynos processor, most likely the Exynos 1080 since its predecessor is powered by the Exynos 980. We also expect it to run Android 11 out of the box with One UI 3.0 and a battery that supports 25W fast charging.
