If you have been waiting for a successor, then there is good news. The Redmi 10 is coming and its launch is very near.

The official Xiaomi Global Twitter account has begun teasing the upcoming mid-range phone whose specifications already leaked. In a series of posters shared online today, the manufacturer has confirmed the device is coming soon as well as some of its specifications and the colors it will be available in.

In one of the posters, we see the Redmi 10 adopts a centered punch hole over the waterdrop notch of the Redmi 9. The poster also reveals that the FHD+ screen has a 90Hz refresh rate, an upgrade from the 60Hz of its predecessor. This poster and the one at the top of the article also show the three color variants the phone will come in. The colors are Carbon Gray, Pebble White, and Sea Blue.

The Redmi 10 also has a redesigned rear. Gone is the centered vertically arranged cameras housed in a circle. In its place is a bigger camera housing similar to that of the Mi 10 Ultra but shorter thanks to the fourth sensor sitting next to the third instead of underneath it. The poster confirms the main sensor of the quad-camera setup is a 50MP sensor. It also reveals that the phone will have stereo speakers.

Xiaomi has moved the fingerprint scanner from the back to the side where it doubles as the power button. The audio jack has also been moved to the top alongside a second speaker grille for the second speaker.

The leaked spec sheet reveals that the phone will have a 6.5-inch screen and adaptive refresh rate that changes based on the content on the screen. It will be powered by the Helio G88 processor and will pack a 5000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

This new type of screen is expected to be available in Q1 2021. Joo Sun Choi, CEO of Samsung Display said that the plan is to initially make very large quantities of 14-inch, 90Hz OLED displays for the laptops and notebooks, beginning in March.

Samsung Display, a subsidiary from Samsung to make display technologies, believes that consumers will quickly adopt the idea of OLED displays offering a 90Hz refresh rate, even though the OLED panels require the use of a high-spec. graphics card.

In a 90Hz refresh rate, the image is rendered 90 times per second, and thanks to this rapid refresh rate update in motion, smoother-looking visuals are possible. Also, OLED displays are able to transition from one screen to the next much more quickly than LCD screens with the same refresh rate.

Thus, OLED screens can make gaming and movie watching a more vibrant, pleasurable experience, without compromise, claims the company. Samsung also adds that the company’s 90Hz OLED display offers high-speed driving that is actually on par with that of 120Hz LCD screens. Once Samsung launches this laptop, we expect more companies to follow suit, similar to what happened in the smartphone space.

It will be the second smartphone powered by the new Snapdragon 765G processor after the Redmi K30 5G.

OPPO’s VP, Shen Yiren, has been dropping bits of details of the upcoming phone. We already know the phone will have a curved display with a punch hole on the right for a single camera. We also know it will have a 4025mAh battery capacity, have a thickness of 7.7 millimeters, and weight less than 180 grams. However, there are still a number of details we do not know. Thankfully, a new leak has revealed most of the key specs.

The source of the leak is Digital Chat Station and he adds a caveat that the specs are for the prototype and may be different for the final product.

According to him, the Reno3 Pro will have a 6.5-inch curved FHD+ OLED display. The screen has a hole for the selfie camera and a 90Hz refresh rate. Since it has an OLED display, we expect it to have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

There is an SM7250 (Snapdragon 765G) processor under the hood and it is paired with 12GB of RAM. There is no mention of the storage but we don’t expect less than 256GB with that amount of RAM. We also believe OPPO will announce an 8GB RAM version with 128GB of storage.

EDITOR’S PICK: Oppo ColorOS 7 Launched in India with Riding Mode, Localised Features and More

The Reno3 Pro will have quad rear cameras and the source says it is a 48MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP camera (telephoto lens), a 13MP camera (ultrawide lens) and a 2MP sensor. There is optical image stabilization but we can’t say if it is for the telephoto camera or main sensor or both. Lastly, the Reno3 Pro will support 30W fast charge which should be OPPO’s VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge fast charging technology.

OPPO’s phone will go head to head with the Redmi K30 5G as mid-range 5G phones. Based on the leaked specs, both phones have their strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Reno3 Pro will have an OLED display compared to the Redmi K30 5G’s LCD display albeit with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Redmi K30 5G, on the other hand, boasts a bigger battery capacity (4500mAh) and a fast charge technology that can refill the phone in just 1 hour.

Other factors will definitely influence purchase such as price, OS, and camera performance. Nevertheless, both phones are impressive and we look forward to their arrival.

The Reno3 Pro is expected to bring along some siblings. It has also been reported that OPPO will announce another 5G phone that is powered by MediaTek’s MT6885 5G chipset. However, we do not know if it will launch alongside the Reno3 Pro or later.

Now, it is being said that Apple will join the high-refresh rate party as well, in 2020.

OnePlus 7T has a beautiful 90Hz display

According to a DigiTimes report, 2020 iPhones could feature 120Hz screens, joining Apple’s existing iPad Pro lineup with the same high-refresh rate. However, next year’s iPhones will likely have a 120Hz refresh rate on an OLED panel unlike the LCD ones found inside the ProMotion iPads.

Editor’s Pick: Razer Phone: Here’s the Official List Of 120Hz-Optimized Android Games

But it’s not just the new iPhone models. The same DigiTimes report states that smartphones, in general, will come with higher refresh rates in 2020. And unlike this year where we have a number of 90Hz panel smartphones, companies could upgrade the refresh rate to 120Hz or more next year.

Currently, only a handful of smartphones feature a 120Hz display, like the ROG II, Razer Phone 2, and the Sharp Aquos R3. But if this report is to be believed, by 2020, this figure will increase quite significantly. Such high refresh rates would especially benefit gaming-centric smartphones and this niche market has grown a lot this year.

However, with a high refresh rate comes the issue of battery life. Using a dynamic refresh rate will help in optimizing for the best battery performance but it will still be lower than that of a 60Hz screen. As a result, we could see smartphones with larger batteries and faster-charging technologies next year. This speculation isn’t unfounded given that the ROG II with a 120Hz comes with a HUGE 6000mAh battery on board!

And now, more manufacturers are jumping on the train. OPPO and Realme officials have announced they will launch phones with a 90Hz display in the near future.

Last week, OPPO’s Vice President, Brian Shen took to Weibo to hint about features of a new Reno phone believed to be the successor to the Reno 10x Zoom.

While the post left out the key details, it is a no-brainer that he is referring to a 90Hz screen in the post seeing as there are only two dashes before the Hz. The same applies to the fast charging technology the phone will have. There are two dashes, so the Reno phone is definitely not coming with 120W fast charge.

On the part of Realme, the info is even more specific. The unnamed phone will not only have a 90Hz screen but a price tag lower than that of the 7 (OnePlus 7) and will also launch soon. The info was also made on Weibo by Realme’s product manager, Wang Wei Derek. There are speculations this Realme phone is a Pro version of the Realme XT.

In addition to a 90Hz refresh rate, the Realme XT Pro has also been reported to have a 32MP selfie camera, a 64MP primary rear camera paired with an 8MP telephoto camera, a 2MP macro lens and another 2MP sensor for capturing depth details in portrait mode. It is also expected to come with 30W fast charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC and a 4000mAh battery.

Other phones with a 90Hz display expected to launch this year include the OnePlus 7T and the Pixel 4 series.

Now, the company is all set to launch the same smartphone series in China on 10th September.

While the Reno2 series phones will get launched in China next week, Oppo’s Vice President Shen Yiren has revealed that the company is gearing up to launch yet another smartphone, which will feature a 90Hz display.

However, he has confirmed that the 90Hz display smartphone is not the Oppo Reno2 and will be a new smartphone. The phone is expected to get launched in the second half of this month, after the launch of Reno2 lineup in China.

However, no more details about this smartphone have been revealed so far. Another report claims that the company will completely get rid of the 60Hz screen from its flagship smartphones in a couple of years.

Since the Oppo Reno2 smartphone has already been launched in India, it’s full specifications is known. The phone also comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor for added security.

We already know it will have triple rear cameras but a new leak has revealed there are more exciting features coming.

Ishan Agarwal, the teenage Indian leaker, has revealed the specs of the OnePlus 7T and we are pretty excited already. If you live in India, you should be more excited because the OnePlus 7T duo will arrive first in India on September 26 before the rest of the world.

Renders of the OnePlus 7T already revealed the display design won’t change. So just like the OnePlus 6T, the OnePlus 7T will also have a waterdrop notch. But appearances can be deceiving as the display is very well different. According to the leaker, the OnePlus 7T will come with a 2K Super AMOLED and what’s more, it will have a 90Hz refresh rate just like the OnePlus 7 Pro!!! He adds that the notch is smaller too.

The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus and will be available in two variants both with 8GB of RAM but 128GB or 256GB of storage. The OnePlus 7T will also have a 48MP primary camera paired with 16MP and 12MP secondary cameras.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of the type of lens the secondary cameras have. The front camera is a 16MP sensor and the phone will support 960fps slow-motion recording and also record wide-angle videos (so one of the secondary sensors is an ultrawide angle camera). There will also be Nightscape, most likely a new version with better output.

The leak also reveals the OnePlus 7T will get a slightly bigger battery capacity – 3800mAh as against the OnePlus 7’s 3700mAh battery capacity. The phone will b be available in Frosted Silver and Haze Blue.

Are you excited about the OnePlus 7T? Let us know in the comment box.

Unconfirmed reports say the next Mate series flagship will also have a 90Hz AMOLED display.

While the OnePlus 7 Pro is definitely not the first phone with a 90Hz display or even the phone with the highest refresh rate, the popularity of OnePlus phones has brought attention to the feature. In the world of mobile phones where you innovate and or copy, or you die, it is not surprising if Huawei also wants to launch a phone with a high refresh rate. However, there is no evidence to back up this info, so we advise you take it with a pinch of salt.

Editor’s Pick: Huawei Ban will be ‘Incredibly Damaging’ for ARM, says co-founder Hermann Hauser

In other news, concept renders of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has also surfaced online. The design made by Phone Industry (@PhoneIndustry_) can best be described as a mix between the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and the Mate 20 Pro with a few modifications.

The display stretches to the top and has a pill-shaped punch hole for dual front-facing cameras. However, the cameras are on the top left corner of the display. On the back, the phone has a rectangular camera module thanks to the addition of an extra sensor for a quad-camera setup.

[envira-gallery id=”259158″]

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is shown in Red with a semi-frosted back, in Classic Blue with gradient design, Gold White, Chrome White, Classic Red, and Classic Black. As we said, these are concept renders, so the real device may look nothing like this.

The Mate 30 Pro is said to come with a Kirin 985 processor, Barong 5000 5G modem, 5x optical zoom, and 50x digital zoom. It is also expected to have a 4200mAh battery with support for 55W SuperCharge.

The phone will take on the Black Shark 2 gaming phone and a new leak confirms a feature that puts it ahead of the Black Shark 2.

There have been reports the Red Magic 3 will have a display with a high refresh rate. A leak has revealed that Nubia’s upcoming gaming phone has a 90Hz display. Most phones have a refresh rate of 60Hz, so this is a big deal.

Roland Quandt took to Twitter to share a screenshot from the phone which shows a dialog box that allows you to set the screen’s refresh rate. There are three options – auto, 60FPS, and 90FPS. This is proof that the phone will have a 90Hz display.

Here's a screenshot from the (Nubia) Red Magic "3".
Two things to note:
1) 90Hz screen.
2) There really is a real rotating fan _inside_ the device, which you can hear once turned on.

Will indeed launch on April 28 in China, available worldwide some time in May, I hear. pic.twitter.com/j0MHwnRPxM

— Roland Quandt (@rquandt) April 23, 2019

The good thing is that you will be able to set it to 60FPS, 90FPS or auto which means the phone will automatically switch between 60FPS and 90FPS depending on the app in use. However, that isn’t the only thing the screenshot actually reveals.

If you look at the backdrop for the dialog box, you can see the menu options for the Game Center. The screen refresh rate settings is under the “Basic” menu but before it, is another menu that says “Fan”.

Back in March, a Nubia patent was published and it revealed the manufacturer had designed a phone with a built-in fan. Nubia’s CEO also revealed towards the end of March that the Red Magic 3 will have a hybrid cooling system that combines liquid and air cooling.

Seeing as the image above shows there is a menu for a fan, it means the Red Magic 3 will indeed feature a built-in cooling fan just like a computer. Roland Quandt adds in his tweet that the fan of the Red Magic 3 can be heard spinning when turned on.

Nubia will announce the phone in China on April 28 and launch it globally in May. It will come with a 5000mAh battery, 30W fast charging, a single rear camera, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
