DJI is officially bringing its latest action camera to the global market. The new Osmo Action 6 is finally arriving outside of China, bringing various improvements like a larger image sensor, variable refresh rate, and much more. So here’s everything you need to know.

DJI Osmo Action 6 Goes Global

To recall, the popular drone maker had officially announced the new DJI Osmo Action 6 in China earlier this month. Now, the action camera is rolling out in more regions just a week later. This model features a dual display setup with a 1.46-inch OLED screen on the front and a 2.5-inch OLED display on the back, with both panels offering up to 800 nits of brightness. One of its biggest upgrades is the larger 1/1.1-inch image sensor that has a 155-degree field of view.

The Osmo Action 6 also has a variable aperture that ranges from f/2.0 to f/4.0. Users can capture 4K videos at 60fps, and there is also a 4K/120fps option for slow motion capture. For still photos, the camera can capture images in a resolution of up to 38MP. On a single full charge, DJI promises up to 4 hours of battery life thanks to its 1,950mAh battery pack (7.5Wh).

Other notable features include OsmoAudio Direct Microphone connection, 50GB of built-in storage, cold resistant body, and a waterproof design up to 20 meters. The DJI Osmo Action 6 has been announced in the UK via the brand’s official website and Amazon UK.

It is available in two options, with a starting price tag of £329 for the Standard Combo, which includes the action camera, Osmo Action Extreme battery plus, Osmo Dual-Direction quick-release adapter mount, Osmo Action Curved Adhesive base, Osmo locking screw, USB-C to USB-C PD cable, and Osmo Action Anti-Slip pad.

Meanwhile, the Adventure combo is listed for £415 and addstwo additional Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus, one additional Osmo Dual-Direction Quick-Release Adapter Mount, one additional Osmo Locking Screw, Osmo Multifunctional Battery Case 3, and Osmo 1.5m Extension Rod over the Standard combo.

DJI has released the Osmo Action 6 in China ahead of its global launch on November 18. The camera arrives as the successor to the Osmo Action 5 Pro, which debuted in September last year.

The Osmo Action 6 uses the same 1,950 mAh (7.5 Wh) battery from the Action 5 Pro. DJI claims up to 240 minutes of use on a full charge, with continuous 4K recording rated at 52 minutes, one minute less than before. The camera has a 1.46-inch OLED screen on the front and a 2.5-inch OLED display on the back, both with up to 800 nits of brightness.

Most changes come from the camera hardware. DJI replaced the 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with a new 1/1.1-inch sensor that offers 13.5 EV of dynamic range. It keeps a 155-degree field of view and adds a variable aperture that ranges from f/2.0 to f/4.0. The Osmo Action 6 can record 4K video at 60 fps in a 1:1 format or 4K at 120 fps for slow motion in 16:9. Still photos reach up to 38 megapixels.

In China, the camera starts at CNY 2,998 (about $422). The standard kit includes the camera, one battery, and basic accessories, while combo kits for biking, snorkeling, and other activities add mounts and protective cases. DJI has not announced international pricing yet.

The upcoming Osmo Action 6 has leaked from a couple of reliable corners online, and the early peek shows a camera that looks familiar at first glance — until you notice the front. The lens housing is huge, and there’s a good reason for that.

Two major leaks dropped almost back-to-back. The New Camera shared what seems to be the Action 6 shell sitting next to the Action 5 Pro, and XdronesStudio went further, posting a full retail box along with what appears to be a production unit. Put together, the leaks paint a pretty clear picture of where DJI is heading.

The camera itself doesn’t grow much in size, which is good news for people who already have mounts or cages. But the redesign up front hints at the headline feature: a variable-aperture lens. DJI is reportedly letting users switch between f/2.0 and f/4.0, which opens up a lot of flexibility. You get a brighter image and nicer background separation at f/2.0, and when the sun is blazing, f/4.0 helps keep everything sharp without slapping on ND filters every five minutes.

The sensor is getting a bump too — up from 1/1.3-inch to 1/1.1-inch. It’s not a gigantic jump, but it’s enough to squeeze out cleaner footage, especially in low light, where the older models struggled a bit.

Despite the bigger lens module, the shell is more or less the same as the Action 5 Pro. Early pricing leaks suggest it’ll land at around £329 in the UK, €379 in Europe, and somewhere near $379 in the US, so a mild price increase but nothing wild.

GoPro’s Hero 13 Black still has its ecosystem advantage, but if these leaks hold up, DJI’s giving users something GoPro hasn’t touched: actual optical control. For action-cam shooters who bounce between bright outdoors and sketchy indoor light, that alone could make the Action 6 worth a serious look when it launches later this month.

DJI has officially launched the Osmo Nano, a modular action camera designed for portable content creation and outdoor shooting. The camera features a dual-sided magnetic design that allows users to switch between selfie mode and forward-facing shooting instantly.

DJI Osmo Nano Specifications

The camera weighs 52 grams and includes a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with a 143° ultra-wide field of view. It supports video recording at up to 4K/60fps and can shoot slow-motion video at 4K/120fps. DJI also provides advanced stabilization modes such as RockSteady 3.0 and HorizonBalancing for smoother footage. The device supports 10-bit D-Log M color recording and offers a dynamic range of up to 13.5 stops.

DJI has equipped the Osmo Nano with a 530mAh internal battery and a 1,300mAh battery inside the included Multifunctional Vision Dock. The combined setup can record up to 200 minutes of 1080p video. The Vision Dock also supports fast charging, with the main camera reaching 80 percent charge in 20 minutes. DJI states the camera can shoot continuously at 4K/60fps for over 50 minutes in endurance mode.

The camera body is waterproof up to 10 meters without a housing. When attached to the Vision Dock, the setup offers IPX4 splash resistance. The device includes dual microphones for stereo audio and supports direct wireless connection with two microphone transmitters via DJI’s OsmoAudio system.

The 1.96-inch OLED touchscreen on the Vision Dock enables real-time preview and remote control. The Osmo Nano supports USB 3.1 for wired data transfer and Wi-Fi 6 for high-speed wireless transfers. The DJI Mimo app offers editing templates, filters, and motion overlays.

Pricing and Availability

DJI has confirmed that the Osmo Nano will not launch in the U.S. through official channels at this time. The camera is, however, available in Canada, the UK, and Europe through DJI’s online store and authorized retailers.

In Canada, the 64GB version is priced at $419 CAD, while the 128GB version costs $459 CAD. In the UK, both models are priced at £239 and £259. In China, the Osmo Nano is sold in two storage options, 64GB and 128GB, priced at 1,998 yuan and 2,298 yuan, respectively.

Insta360 has released a new version of its X5 action camera, made for motorcycle riders. Called the Insta360 X5 BMW Motorrad Edition, this limited edition model includes new features designed for use on the road.

DJI has officially announced the imminent launch of a new product with the slogan “Show Your True Colors.” Leaks suggest that this exciting release is likely to be the DJI Osmo Action 4 action camera and it will be launched on August 2.

The DJI Osmo Action 4 is rumored to boast impressive specifications, including a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor complemented by a 155° f/2.8 wide-angle lens. The camera is expected to support 4K@12fps and 4K@120fps slow-motion shooting, promising stunning visual quality for dynamic shots. Moreover, with the addition of 10-bit & D-Log M capabilities, users can expect greater control over color grading during post-processing. The device will also be waterproof up to 18m.

Quadro_News has leaked some DJI Osmo Action 4 camera images and according to the user, the camera will be available in standard and adventure packs. The starting price is €429, while the Adventure pack, priced at €529, includes the camera, extension rod, three batteries, and a battery case.

Just last week, DJI launched its latest Air series drone DJI Air 3 with dual 4K cameras, offering impressive photo and video capabilities. It has a wide-angle and medium telephoto lens, 4K@100fps and 4K@60fps shooting, 10-bit color modes, and intelligent flight features. The drone includes an omnidirectional vision sensing system, a 20 km image transmission range, and 46 minutes of flight time. Despite being 720g, it has higher wind resistance and an improved charging hub for multiple batteries.

Insta360 has announced the latest addition to its action camera line, the Insta360 GO 3. This ultra-compact, magnetic camera weighs just 35g, a notable increase from the GO 2‘s 26.5g, while still maintaining its compact nature. With the addition of the Action Pod, the combined weight rises to 131.8g, still light enough for comfortable use.

The GO 3 offers a boosted resolution of 2.7K, marking an upgrade from its predecessor. The innovative Action Pod enables remote control and live preview through a flip touchscreen, while also powering the camera for up to 170 minutes. To enhance user versatility, the camera is paired with a host of magnetic accessories such as a Magnet Pendant, Easy Clip, and Pivot Stand.

In addition to water resistance and waterproofing features, the GO 3 offers camera stabilization, horizon lock, and lens guard. It also has a number of new recording modes, including Pre-recording, Loop Recording, and Timed Capture. Insta360 X3

This, is the most versatile camera that I’ve ever used, the Insta360 X3 360° action camera. It doesn’t mean that it’s for everyone, but I believe that when you’ve experienced it, you will definitely find your own fun in it. The greatest trick of this powerful action camera is the dual high-resolution cameras back to back. With these two lenses, users can have great possibilities to shoot all kinds of creative clips that the other cameras can’t do. I even doubt that the brand developed this product in a way that is able to fully predict how users would use it to create content.

Design

So let’s check out how it works. The two lenses each feature a half-inch SONY IMX586 sensor, which used to be popular on camera phones. Now the dual-lens setup brings a new life to the classic sensor.

They are each recording an extremely wide-angle video that stretches way back, actually with views of beyond 180 degrees. Then the algorithm combines the two feeds shot on them into an almost perfect shooting of 360 degrees, though there’s a bit of overlap at the seams. What makes it really amazing is that the camera knows where the mounting point is and what their mounting equipment like selfie sticks looks like, so it can remove that out of the video. So even mounted with a selfie stick, the Insta360 X3 feels like a viewpoint hovering in the air. You don’t need to worry about the shooting angle, as it does create a real-time spherical capture. And you will decide the camera angle and movement including panning, tilting, zooming, and rolling in post-editing.

In a very hurried shot, you just need to decide where it should be in the air. It can be placed or mounted in a fixed position, follow any object in motion with a mounting accessory, or even complete the traversal of the lens movement with a 33-foot-long selfie stick like a drone.

Compared to its predecessors, the very important upgrade is the 2.29-inch touchscreen, by far the largest of any insta360 camera allowing the user to easily control the camera settings. On the side of the camera, there’re doors holding the upgraded 1800mAh battery, microSD card slot, and USB port. Since there’s no built-in storage, it doesn’t support in-camera recording. As you can see, one detail that may be inconvenient is that you must first take out the battery before you install or remove the storage card. Or there’s a USB-C storage dock available, with which you can have off-camera recording, but also convenient to take it down and plug it directly into the phone for editing.

Capture

The Insta360 X3 has up to 5.7K resolution for 360° video shooting, allowing users to capture stunningly detailed images with vibrant colors. In addition to the Vivid and standard color modes, it also supports log colors. But here I still recommend using Vivid or standard colors to create content, as it looks really great in daylight and is much easier for post-coloring. A surprise I found from the clips is the decent dynamic range, which does offer a pretty natural brightness transition. By the way, in certain modes like time-lapse, the X3 can shoot at 8K resolution.

The cameras feature FlowState stabilization technology which helps reduce shake and blur in videos without sacrificing image quality or field of view (FOV). Additionally, both cameras also feature Horizon Lock mode which keeps your horizon level even if you move around during filming.

Actually, it’s pretty easy to shoot the whole spherical footage. Whether you can turn the footage into stunning creations depends on your spatial imagination and skills in using the software of Insta360 studio.

Software on Phones & PCs

The most convenient way to edit those spherical videos is using the phone app, where you can easily find a bunch of effects and shot patterns to follow, such as different sports or vlog patterns, sky swap, time-lapse, bullet time and so on. To post anything different on social media, it’s perfect and the render time is also surprisingly good, which is even faster than any video-editing tools I’ve ever used.

If you are a professional content creator who wants to edit the clips in detail with the best image quality and the best additional stabilization effects, the Insta360 Studio for PC will be a better and more powerful tool. There’re more options for desktops to upload to social media at higher resolutions than via phones. What’s even more convenient is that you can transfer the shots to Adobe Premiere Pro with the plug-in and edit in the adobe software.

Wide Accessories for Insta360 X3

The Insta360 X3 has great accessories that help secure mounting, such as tripods, standard selfie stick, extremely long selfie stick to shoot drone views, and all kinds of mounts. Unlike some action cameras requiring a waterproof case, the X3’s body is already waterproof to 10 meters without attaching a diving case. But if you still want more secure protection underwater, they also have optional waterproof housings for underwater use. 

Verdict

In the actual shooting experience, the brand-new versatile camera is revolutionary. Especially when working with insta360’s software, no matter the phone app or the studio PC app, from the simplest to the most complicated work, it really feels sick. It’s so clever to present such a complex job to everyone’s phone. Once you export any video that’s edited under its guidance, you’ll probably be amazed at such a new perspective. It will even become a motivational tool to encourage you to try new sports with shots from different angles, and locations that most humans have never seen before.

We had never rated a product as an essential tool for shooting vlogs. But the X3 is, and at least for now, there is no 360° camera that works better than the Insta360 X3. So that’s almost all about the revolutionary camera.

The dual screen appears to be similar to SJ6 Legend but SJ6 is limited to 4K recording at only 24 fps. The dual screen configuration is the selling point of the upcoming flagship apart from the 4K video recording.

Furthermore, SJCAM SJ8 was also leaked on Gearbest as well. It’s available in the Chinese Global store but the stock has not arrived yet. The details mentioned there are interesting as well. According to the specs provided on Gearbest, the camera occupies a space of only 7.00 x 4.00 x 3.00 cm and is super lightweight weighing only 70 grams. It appears to be a rubberized plastic built from the leaked image of the prototype. However, it will be a dream come true if the housing turns out to be aluminum metal with CNC process similar to iPhone 7. You know SJCAM is full of surprises and we might not know what’s the big thing coming.

Moreover, the casing like rest of the SJCAM action cameras is IP68 certified, waterproof up to 30 meters. Gearbest confirms the presence of EIS (Electronic image stabilization) for a non-shaky video. Moreover, another highlight and a dream feature will be the first integration of GPS module under the hood of a Chinese sports camera. Even Gearbest mentions it along with WiFi module working in a range of 10 meters.

As it supports 4K video recording at 60 fps, the hardware indeed will be powerful. We expect it to feature the latest Ambarella H22 chipset coupled with a Sony Sensor (maybe IMX 377). A 1000mAh battery will power the camera. Surprisingly, Gearbest states that the battery life is 1 hour on 4K @60 fps, standby time is 3 hours, and charging time 2 hours via Type-C interface. Other features include:

• FPV Mode
• Live Streaming
• Remote Control

Apart from these, we will love you witness the introduction of PiP (Picture-in-Picture) feature so it can act as a ‘slave’ back camera as a dashcam.

There are some many expectations from the upcoming SJCAM SJ8. Let’s see which might turn out to be true, next month. As far as the price tag is concerned, it’s tagged at a shocking $439.08 on Gearbest. But that’s the rumored price. Obviously, Gearbest will lower the price once the flagship releases. With all these features we expect it to be around $300 to $400 as a 4K @60 fps, Dual Screen Action camera.

Chinese camera maker YI only has a few products to its name, the YI 4K Action Camera, YI 4K Action Camera 2 and a few more, but the company has garnered an enviable reputation for quality. Its cameras are even touted as the Go Pro killer and the company became solid that it didn’t need the Xiaomi brand attached to its name any more. Right now, the company has added another feather to its record, as it announced the YI 4K+ Action Camera today at CES 2017.

The YI 4K+ Action camera is reputed as the world’s first camera capable of capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second and it is said to be double of what the action-packed Go Pro Hero 5 Black is capable of shooting. That is not only where the YI Action cam comes first, but also in the aspect of the processor it packs. The YI 4K+ Action Camera is also the first to feature an Ambarella H2 System-on-Chip processor which offers a maximum bit rate of 120Mbps.

The Action camera is also touted to feature electronic image stabilization (EIS), live streaming capability, well filtered audio output in outdoors and also support for Virtual Reality (VR). The Smart camera also come with USB 3.0 and USB Type-C interface and other features.

It’s amazing that despite the well-packed features, the YI 4K+ Action Camera and the previous gen 4K Action camera all have the same size and design. The GoPro Hero5 action camera already showed up at FCC and details reveal it will come with an in-built GPS which will keep track of the location where an image or video was taken just like you have on phones. There will probably be an option to turn it off for those who don’t fancy it.

The Hero5 will be thinner and lighter than the Hero4, have dual WiFi bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and bluetooth low energy. While the news about it having a thinner and lighter body might be good news, it leaves people asking if the new action camera will work with the accessories of previous models.

A leaked video posted by Reddit user, Konrad Iturbe, shows that the GoPro Hero 5 will be getting an improved user interface. To access basic settings like WiFi, microphone, preferences, and connected devices, users of the Hero5 will simply slide down from the top of the screen and navigate to whichever setting they want to modify. The video also shows a new device called the GoPro Sniper whose function is currently unknown.

There’s no news on the date of release for the GoPro Hero5 but some say it might come as early as September or as late as December (most probably in time for holiday shopping). GoPro will also be launching a drone called the GoPro Karma.

Buying a camera is a very trick question these days. We first had decent camera phones, but for action junkies, a smartphone camera wasn’t an ideal solution. This led to the birth and eventual growth of the action camera market. It’s time now, I think to look beyond action camera’s too and grace 360-degree cameras. With Virtual Reality going mainstream, there is a lot of requirement for good 360-degree content and devices.

The trouble with the current generation of 360 cameras has been that either they’ve been not really easy to use or have been very costly. However, Nico360 seems to have an answer to all. It is a tiny 360 camera and also supports live broadcasting.

Nico360 is listed on Indigogo as the world smallest 360 cameras and it does borrow some design inspiration from GoPro cameras. However, unlike the Ricoh Theta S and Samsung 360, it is much smaller and square in shape.

Nico360 is capable of recording 360 degree videos at 2K resolution at 30 FPS. It can record 360-degree videos at a resolution of 25 megapixels.It has two 16 MP spherical cameras mounted on either side of the body and buttons to power on/off the device, click images, switch modes from video to images is located on the left side of the body of the camera.

Nico360 comes with a 32GB on board storage and is capable or live streaming as well, making it a device to watch out for. It is compatible iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices and it comes with a 1400 mAh battery too.

An action camera should not just be compact and durable, it has to be waterproof too. The company claims that Nico360 is not just splash proof but waterproof too. On the pricing front, Nico360 will be available for $199. Early backers of the campaign can get the 360camera for $99 on the crowdfunding site IndieGoGo.

For those looking for a 4K camera, the latest Xiaomi Yi camera that is priced at CNY 1,199 or $185 is a pretty good option.

Elephone has a pretty good sports camera lineup, with the Elecam Explorer Pro right on top. The company released the Explorer Pro camera earlier this year and the camera managed to get pretty good response from customers. This was mainly because of its cheap pricing and quality video shooting capability.

Now, Elephone has just revealed to us that the company will soon release the Elecam Explorer Elite version. The major highlight of this camera will be its price. Expect it to be cheaper than the Pro version that retails for $99 via various online retailers.

In case you are wondering, the Elecam Explorer Elite will get the same top-end chip inside, NTK96660 that comes inside the Pro version will the ability to shoot 4K 24 fps videos as well. However, it will not feature the built-in voice broadcast motion DV feature that was found in the Pro variant. Also, the camera sensor on board will be Sony IMX078 instead of the IMX117.

Well, that’s all we know about this Elecam Explorer Elite model. We will also like to note that Elephone says that the Elite version will be the king of cost performance motion camera market. Let’s wait and watch.

Earlier today, we reported that Xiaomi was going to announce the new generation version of the Xiaomi Yi 4K Action Camera 2 soon, most likely at the May 10 event, alongside the unveiling of the Xiaomi Max phablet. We got a lot of details about the device via pictures posted online, but now we have some exclusive information about the Yi 4K Action Camera 2. Our source has just provided us with a test file of the new Yi Camera which gives us some insight into the device’s battery life.

Like the name suggests, the new generation Yi Action Camera 2 will be able to capture 4K videos at 30 fps. We all know that 4K video recording drains a lot of battery, which is why the manufacturer of the camera decided to test out a few samples for evaluation of its battery life while capturing 4K resolution video at 30 fps.

The test was carried out at an indoor room temperature of 20 degrees celsius, with both Wi-Fi and LCD display turned off. The company has compared the Yi 4K Action Camera 2 with the GoPro Hero 4 Black model, both under same conditions. The Yi Camera comes with a 1400mAh battery which should be good for 8 hours of life under normal usage. On the other hand, the GoPro Hero 4 comes with a slightly smaller 1160mAh battery.

So, here are results of the test. The company tested out five different samples of the new action camera and compared them with one GoPro Hero 4 Black model. On a couple of occasions, the Yi camera managed to record 4K video at 30 fps for a good 120+ minutes. The rest of the samples also provided 110+ minutes of recording.

Coming to the GoPro Hero 4 Black model, it managed to record for just 42 minutes, which is too low as compared to the Yi camera. But in the test, it was noted that the GoPro model shut down automatically during the recording. The model comes with temperature protection, which automatically shuts down the device when the temperature surges beyond a limit. So, the tester couldn’t record 4K video till the battery drained out on this model.

(The first four (Z16V13LW612AUSXXXXXXX) are 4K Yi Action Camera 2 models while the last one is the GoPro Hero 4 model)

You can see that the Yi Camera consumes less power while recording than the GoPro Hero 4, which made sure that it could record in 4K resolution without any overheating worries.

The camera comes in a simple box with a lot of accessories. There are all sorts of mounts, cradles, adhesive pads, zip ties, velcro straps and so on. Basically, you can mount the camera wherever you want.

A few notable accessories would be a waterproof case, which has tactile buttons and it allows you to use the camera up to 30m under water. The case does its job well as I left the camera under water for 20 mins during my test.

The other accessory that I love using is a cradle that I mounted on my bike and it keeps the camera in place. 

Also, there are two batteries included, which is really great.

TEC.BEAN EX5000 Sports Action Camera Review: DESIGN

Let’s be honest, the TEC.BEAN camera looks like a GoPro. Anyway, most of the cheap action cameras does.

Most importantly, it is very well built and it uses mainly rubberised plastic in the construction.

As for optics, we have a 14MP Panasonic CMOS sensor, which can shoot videos up to 1080p and it has 170 degrees wide angle lens. Right next to it there is a power/mode button.

The display has 2 inches and while it is not even HD, it’s  really convenient for a viewfinder.

There is a shutter or “OK” button on the top along with the LED light. 

On one side you can find a microSD card slot, micro USB and HDMI ports and a mic. On the right, you can find your up/down buttons to help you navigate in the UI of the camera.

Next to the buttons there is little speaker grill. 

Finally, the battery door, as well as the battery itself, are very easy to remove.

TEC.BEAN EX5000 Sports Action Camera Review: UI

When it comes to the UI, it is pretty much straightforward. You can select from a picture taking, video recording and gallery modes.

Also, there are quite a few settings to play with but I simply used auto-mode for all the pictures I took and the videos I shot.

The camera has a built-in Wifi, which is supposed to let you easily share images with your smartphone but unfortunately, I could not make it work.

The proprietary app simply could not find the camera. Anyway, I don’t really need this feature since the camera has a display. 

TEC.BEAN EX5000 Sports Action Camera Review: IMAGE AND VIDEO QUALITY

As for still image quality, it is pretty good for a cheap action camera. However, I would love to see a bit more details in some images and some of the shots came out slightly underexposed.

As for 1080p video, it is good but not great. I shot the video side by side with the Xiaomi YI camera, which is one of the best budget action cameras around. The quality is similar but the footage has slightly less detail and the video stabilisation could be better. On the other hand, the colour reproduction is more accurate but the colours look too cold.

Still, the quality of footage is great for cheap action camera and you simply can’t expect anything better at this price range. 

TEC.BEAN EX5000 Sports Action Camera Review: BATTERY LIFE

The 900mAh battery performs great knowing the fact that the camera has a 2” display. I could get 1:20 h of 1080p video and around 3 hours of total usage per charge.

All in all, the TEC.BEAN action camera is a great choice for those who don’t want to spend hundreds for a GoPro but still want to have a small device that can shoot videos or take pictures.

Also, it has 2” screen, lots of settings, the battery life is good  and this cheap camera comes with lots of accessories. For a price of just below $76, it is a great bang for your buck.

Yesterdays saw the release of the 4K teaser image from Elephone, we now have 2 new images that confirm what Elephone have been working on, its the Elephone 4k action cam.

The Elephone 4k action cam allows recording of video in the following formats and frames per second, 720 HD video at 120 frames per second,1080p full HD at 60 frames per second and 4K at 15 frames per second.

A 170 degree wide angled lens is mounted up front to capture the video, this wide an angle will get pretty much everything in your field of view (so be carefull what shoes your wearing).

Most sites are stating that the Elephone 4k action cam comes with a 16 mega pixel OV4689 sensor, however the OV4689 is actually a 4 mega pixel sensor rather than the widely stated 16 mega pixel.

This is the sensor used in other action cams such as the Soodoo F60, it does achieve 4K at 15 frames per second on the Soodoo F60, but it would appear that the resolution is probably achieved via interpolation up to 4k rather than being a native sensor resolution.

The Elephone 4k action cam features an  Allwinner V3 chipset ARM Cortex A7 processor @ 1.2GHz, this is a chipset that is finding its way in to a fair number of China based action cams.

The Elephone 4k action cam has built in WIFI support and can be connecter too and operated via an Android or IOS devices, as yet control software has not been shown.

A micro SD card is supported, most China based action cams support up to 64gb, support for 128gb would be a nice addition if it can be pulled off by the Elephone 4k action cam.

I hope that Elephone will spend time optimising their hardware to try and get quality  on par with the market leaders such as Gopro, but until we get some hands on time with a review unit we will have to wait and see.

It has got 2 microphones with 3D noise cancellation. Yi is available in different colours including grey and Lime.
