Android Q brings another one called Adaptive Sleep.</p>
<p>Some of those who have installed Android Q Beta 3 have discovered the new feature under the settings menu. If you are running Android Q Beta 3, search for Adaptive under the settings menu. If it is available for you, it should be among the search results.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-252446" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Adaptive-Sleep.jpg?x44794" alt="Adaptive Sleep" width="329" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Adaptive-Sleep.jpg 329w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Adaptive-Sleep-146x300.jpg 146w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Adaptive-Sleep-204x420.jpg 204w" sizes="(max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px" /></p>
<p>The description for Adaptive Sleep says “Your screen would not dim and go to sleep if the device detects your present attention.”. From the description, it appears the phone will be able to detect if you are looking at it even if you are not touching it and prevent the screen from going to sleep.</p>
<p>This is similar to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>&#8216;s Smart Stay which launched with the Galaxy S3. The feature made use of the phone&#8217;s front-facing camera to know if the user is looking at the screen.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">READ MORE:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/08/camerax-api-will-bring-great-improvements-on-the-android-camera-apps/">CameraX API will bring great improvements on the Android camera apps</a></strong><span id="more-252439"></span></p>
<p>There is no toggle for the feature and because this is still in beta, it means it is unfinished. We don&#8217;t know if Google will also use the front camera for this feature. If it uses the camera, that doesn&#8217;t make any sense regarding privacy concerns.</p>
