The headphones have since gone on sale but the reviews have not been without any bloat. Some users have complained of condensation build-up inside the headphones. It is reported that water collected inside one user’s AirPods Max ear cups after using the device for an extended period. Condensation is not uncommon with such devices although the metal ear cups, coupled with their tight fit might be some of the reasons for the increased amount of water.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-362479" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple" width="1600" height="999" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar-1024x639.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar-1068x667.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/airpods-max-caviar-673x420.jpg 673w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></a></p>
<p>The AirPods Max was unveiled earlier this month. It&#8217;s one of the high-end headphones available in the market and sells for $549. It enjoyed rave reviews at its launch for its top-end design and quality, which now comes under scrutiny with this observed flaw. The metal ear cups may be a remote cause of this buildup of water droplets after long use.<br />
The replaceable ear pads provide ear comfort and enable noise cancellation by forming a seal around the cups. It is likely that it can trap moisture, possibly after long use and under certain circumstances.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/bison-2021-rugged-smartphone-to-be-launched-by-new-brand-f150/"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick:</strong></a> <strong><a title="The Best Smartwatches and Fitness Trackers of 2020" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/the-best-smartwatches-and-fitness-trackers-of-2020/" rel="bookmark">The Best Smartwatches and Fitness Trackers of 2020</a></strong></div></div>
<p>Several users have been sharing their experience on Twitter, Reddit and other platforms, stressing that the headphones begin to malfunction until the moisture disappears. Some users even provided photos of their headphones with visible signs of moisture on it.<br />
Water condensation, however, is not unique to the AirPods Max, and condensation after extended use is not uncommon.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-362828" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple.png?x44794" alt="AirPods Max" width="777" height="439" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple.png 777w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple-768x434.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple-696x393.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/apple-743x420.png 743w" sizes="(max-width: 777px) 100vw, 777px" /></a></p>
<p>Much has been written about this problem but a logical explanation is that moisture builds up as a result of sweat from the ear, as the ear cushions trap air and heat, causing a build-up of moisture observed in the ear cups. A company, EarHugz has even produced sweat-resistant headphone covers as a solution to the problem.</p>
<p>It is therefore advisable to periodically remove the headphones and wipe the ear cups when wearing AirPods Max for extended periods or when exercising. To do this, pop out the cushions and wipe dry the metal interiors with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth, as advised by Apple.</p>
