The new device, called the Alcatel 5V, belongs to the 5 series but has better specs and an overall better design than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/alcatel-5-smartphone-full-specification-and-features/">Alcatel 5</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-201593 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-colors.jpg?x10805" alt="Alcatel 5V" width="1080" height="516" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-colors.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-colors-300x143.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-colors-768x367.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-colors-1024x489.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<h4><strong>Design</strong></h4>
<p>TCL has joined the notch train with the Alcatel 5V. The notch is fairly wide and is home to the front camera, sensor, and earpiece. The bottom has a bit of bezel but still smaller than what you will find on 16:9 phones.</p>
<p>The rear looks nice and has a similar reflective finish to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/alcatel-3v-expected-specification-and-features/">Alcatel 3</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/alcatel-3v-expected-specification-and-features/">Alcatel 3V</a>. The reflective appearance is due to a process called Optical Vacuum Plating. It also has dual rear cameras arranged vertically and positioned on the left. TCL has decided not to copy the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/">iPhone X</a> by separating the sensors. It looks odd but distinct from the plethora of Android phones with iPhone X-styled cameras.</p>
<h4><strong>Alcatel 5V Specs</strong></h4>
<p>The Alcatel 5V has a 6.2-inch 1500 x 720 display with Dragontrail glass on top. With the notch, the phone has a screen-to-body ratio of 88%.</p>
<p>Powering the device is MediaTek&#8217;s Helio P22 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is an expansion slot for more storage. The rear cameras are a 12MP 1.25um sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. Like most manufacturers, TCL has added AI features such as scene detection. There is also Google Lens baked into the camera app. The front camera is an 8MP sensor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-201592" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-cameras.jpg?x10805" alt="Alcatel 5V cameras" width="1080" height="577" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-cameras.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-cameras-300x160.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-cameras-768x410.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Alcatel-5V-cameras-1024x547.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>The Alcatel 5V runs Android 8.1 Oreo and packs a 4,000mAh battery. It also has a fingerprint scanner and support for face unlock, though it is called Face Key and is said to scan 106 facial key points and unlocks the phone in 0.5 seconds.</p>

<h4><strong>Price and Availability</strong></h4>
<p>The Alcatel 5V will sell for $199.99 and come in black and blue. It will be available later this month in select markets.</p>

According to the famous leakster Roland Quandt, three <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/10/alcatels-new-smartphone-lineup-brings-189-display-budget-segment/">smartphones from these series will be officially announced next week</a>. The most reliable hypotheses suggest that each of the handsets which should be launched by TCL (the Chinese company that acquired the French smartphone manufacturer) may belong to different series. So we may see a phone from the 1 series, one from the 3 series and another from the 5 series.</p>
<p>Alcatel 1 is a series of budget phones which will be sold with price tags under $100, the 3 series will be sold under $200, and the 5 series will contain the most powerful phones by the company which will still be affordable compared with the best flagships, as they will cost under $300. All the series should be equipped with bezel-less displays which will have an 18:9 aspect ratio. Obviously, the resolutions will change depending on the prices of the various phones.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> </strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/05/alcatel-5s-final-design-revealed-fresh-render/"><strong>Alcatel 5’s Final Design Revealed in Fresh Render</strong></a></span></p>
<p>Some renders related to new Alcatel phones have already surfaced at CES 2018, and they show three models: Alcatel 1x, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/11/alcatel-3c-renders-reveal-metallic-black-blue-gold-color-variants/">3v</a> and 5.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166966" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/alcatel.jpg?x10805" alt="alcatel" width="728" height="412" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/alcatel.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/alcatel-300x170.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>The first is the most entry-level one, but even though it will cost less than $100, it has a fingerprint reader on the back side. 3v should be the mid-range device and it is equipped with a dual camera setup on its rear side. However, the fact that it has a dual rear camera does not prove that the phone will have good camera performance. Under the dual camera, there is a fingerprint reader as well. The Alcatel 5 is the most powerful one and it seems to have the highest screen-to-body-ratio.</p>
<p>Next week we will probably know all their specs.</p>
