In recent years, technology has now made it possible to play PC games via a new category of tech, called “gaming handhelds” that are equipped with laptop processors and can run PC games but are in a smartphone-tablet-like form factor for portability.</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_361933" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-361933" style="width: 695px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-361933 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/gpd-win-3-2.png?x44794" alt="GPD Win 3 handheld Gaming PC" width="695" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/gpd-win-3-2.png 695w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/gpd-win-3-2-300x249.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/gpd-win-3-2-507x420.png 507w" sizes="(max-width: 695px) 100vw, 695px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-361933" class="wp-caption-text">GPD Win 3(2021)</figcaption></figure>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpd/?amp=1"><span style="font-weight: 400">GPD</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, the Shenzhen-based startup in the gaming handheld market, is known for its best-sellers such as its </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/12/gpd-win-3-handheld-gaming-pc-with-integrated-gamepad-goes-official/"><span style="font-weight: 400">GPD Win 3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, and GPD Win Max. However, both models were released quite some time ago and since then, a fierce competitor has arrived on the scene, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/27/valve-launches-its-steam-deck-console-starting-at-399-available-to-order-to-reservers/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Steam Deck</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Thus in 2022, GPD has decided to announce the GPD Win Max 2, a 14-Core Intel Alder Lake Windows gaming handheld beast that is looking to shake the industry.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In its official announcement post today, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpd/?amp=1"><span style="font-weight: 400">GPD</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> reveals that the Win Max 2 is featuring a 10-inch 1920&#215;1200 Full HD or a 2560&#215;1600 QHD display, a major leap in the industry considering its predecessor, the Win Max, only had an 8-inch with 1280&#215;800 pixels.  </span></p>
<figure id="attachment_451379" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-451379" style="width: 942px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-451379" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/GPD-Win-Max-2.jpg?x44794" alt="GPD Win Max 2" width="942" height="615" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/GPD-Win-Max-2.jpg 942w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/GPD-Win-Max-2-300x196.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/GPD-Win-Max-2-768x501.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/GPD-Win-Max-2-696x454.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/GPD-Win-Max-2-643x420.jpg 643w" sizes="(max-width: 942px) 100vw, 942px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-451379" class="wp-caption-text">GPD Win Max 2 (Source: GPD)</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Despite the increase in screen size, the dimensions of the Win Max 2 are only jumping from 207 × 145mm to 228 x 160mm. GPD mentions that they were able to keep the device compact with much slimmer bezels on all sides. GPD has also shared an official sketch of the device. However, the sketch only shows off a very simplified build of the device, without the keyboard, colours or gamepad of the device. GPD mentions that they will be revealing more details of the device nearer when it’s ready for launch.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Under the hood, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gpd/?amp=1"><span style="font-weight: 400">GPD</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Win Max 2 is a handheld gaming powerhouse. It is equipped with Intel’s 12th Gen Core i7-1280P, which features 14 cores and 20 threads in a compact form factor. The CPU boosts up to 4.80 GHz, has 24MB Smart Cache, and eats between 20 and 64 watts. The device is also configurable with up to 32GB RAM, up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD in one of the two M.2 slots. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Geekbench 5 listing shows that the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lenovo</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> device model is codenamed “LENOVO 4810RD0100” and it is sporting an </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Intel</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Core i7-1280P </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel-alder-lake/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Alder Lake</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> processor under the hood. Equipped with 32GB of LPDDR5 2593MHz of RAM, the device has scored 1784 in single-core tests, and 9790 in multi-core tests. These results are astonishing, as this 12th Gen Alder Lake 28W Core i7 P-series mobile processor managed to exceed the scores of last year’s core i9-11980HK found in gaming laptops.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As for the details of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Intel</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Core i7-1280P chip, it has a total of 14 cores and 20 threads. 6 of those cores are P-cores(Performance Cores) for heavy workloads and 8 E-cores(Efficiency Cores) for lighter tasks. Each P-core has a base clock of 1.8GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.8GHz, whereas each E-core has a base clock of 1.3GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.6GHz.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The processor also has 24MB of L3 cache, 96EUs of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Intel</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Iris XE Graphics.
