<p>For those unaware, the new smartphone will not feature the Alert Slider that many of the company&#8217;s loyal customers have come to love. This offered users a way to directly put their phones on silent or vibrate when needs be through a physical slider rather than through the UI. However, this will be the Chinese smartphone maker&#8217;s first flagship handset that skips this iconic OnePlus phone design feature.</p>
<p>Previously, we had reported on a tweet from a known tipster that claimed that the brand will only launch a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/06/11/oneplus-will-offer-alert-slider-only-on-flagship-pro-models-in-the-future/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">few smartphones with the Alert Slider in the future</a>. The tipster further added that the design feature will only be offered on flagship level Pro models. But you might be wondering, the OnePlus 10T is a flagship grade handset. So why does it not feature the Alert Slider? Well, the answer is simple. The brand decided that it had to sacrifice this feature in exchange for more room on the inside of the chassis.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-472442 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-scaled.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 10T Jade Green" width="2560" height="1440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-scaled.jpg 2560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/OnePlus-10T-Jade-Green-India-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px" /></p>
<p>Basically, the Alert Slider was removed to make way for several new upgrades, which includes a high wattage charging, a large battery capacity, and even a better antenna signal. All three of these were the major reasons for the Alert Slider missing from the upcoming premium grade smartphone.</p>

<p>This was mainly due to most of the mid and lower-end devices that OnePlus has launched in recent times being rebranded OPPO devices. However, with the launch of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-ace/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OnePlus Ace</a>/ <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-10r/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OnePlus 10R</a>, many customers were left confused as that being a premium mid-range device also lacked an alert slider.</p>

<p>Now, tipster Yogesh Brar&#8217;s recent <a href="https://twitter.com/heyitsyogesh/status/1535319438181822465" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweet</a> has revealed that there might be very few devices that come with an alert slider from now on. According to the tipster, the recently launched OnePlus Nord 2T was the last mid-range device to carry an alert slider. Going forward, the alert slider will only be offered in the Pro models along with some OPPO flagships.</p>
<p>This means that customers will have to shell out some serious cash to enjoy the physical alert slider in the future. Currently, there is no clarification as to why this decision was made. But it might be to keep the feature more exclusive or it could be due to OnePlus using rebranded OPPO devices as their mid-range offerings.</p>

That feature is the Alert Slider, a physical switch for sound control. Since then, the metallic textured button has appeared on all OnePlus phones save for its budget models.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-418060" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/OnePlus-Alert-Slider.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus Alert Slider" width="759" height="448" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/OnePlus-Alert-Slider.png 759w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/OnePlus-Alert-Slider-300x177.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/OnePlus-Alert-Slider-696x411.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/OnePlus-Alert-Slider-712x420.png 712w" sizes="(max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px" /></p>
<p>The Alert Slider is one of the most beloved features of a OnePlus as it makes it easy for users to switch between ring profiles without the need to unlock the device. You don&#8217;t even have to get the phone out of your pocket or purse to activate your preferred sound profile. The Alert Slider is inspired by the Ring/Silent switch on the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/iphone">iPhone</a>. However, as popular as it is, we haven&#8217;t seen other manufacturers adopt (read copy) the feature considering it isn&#8217;t uncommon for brands to adopt a feature from competitors that is a hit among users.</p>
<p>For this week&#8217;s poll, we want to know if our readers would love to see other manufacturers replicate the Alert Slider on OnePlus phones. So, please take the poll and also let us know in the comment section what you think about the alert slider and why we haven&#8217;t seen it on other non-OnePlus phones.</p>

Not only will we be getting the OnePlus 6 earlier than its predecessors, OnePlus has also steadily been feeding us with new features the phone will come with. It&#8217;s latest teaser reveals a new functionality coming to the Alert Slider.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-183331" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Alert-Slider.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6 Alert Slider" width="944" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Alert-Slider.png 944w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Alert-Slider-300x130.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/OnePlus-6-Alert-Slider-768x333.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 944px) 100vw, 944px" /></p>
<p>The latest teaser was posted on Twitter and reveals that the much-loved Alert Slider will also be used to adjust focus (for the camera) on the OnePlus 6. Sliding the button which is positioned on the left on older models will adjust the focus as desired.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Slide to focus with the Alert Slider. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/OnePlus6?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#OnePlus6</a> <a href="https://t.co/LbLbhlwjVh">pic.twitter.com/LbLbhlwjVh</a></p>
<p>&mdash; OnePlus (@oneplus) <a href="https://twitter.com/oneplus/status/981909324011274240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 5, 2018</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The Alert Slider currently allows you to switch between audio profiles on your phone. By default, the slider is set to ring. Sliding it up once puts it in Do Not Disturb Mode and pushing it up again puts it in silent mode. Rather than unlocking your phone to set it to any of these modes, a simple push is all you need. You don&#8217;t even need to pull your phone out of your pocket.</p>

<p>With the new feature, it means that you don&#8217;t have to touch the screen to adjust focus. You may not even need to touch the screen at all to take a picture with the new feature. Already, pushing the power button twice opens the default camera app and the volume rocker can be set to trigger the shutter button.</p>
<p>What do you think of the new feature? Exciting or meh?</p>
