The Amazfit Ares doesn’t launch until tomorrow but we have been able to get our hands on the full spec sheet of Huami’s latest smartwatch.

The Ares has a 1.28-inch square-shaped reflective color display. The display gets brighter with increasing outdoor light, so you don’t need to strain your eyes to see what is on the screen when directly under the sun. Huami says the screen, which is housed in a polycarbonate frame with a rugged design, has an anti-fingerprint coating and is covered with Gorilla Glass 3. A pair of matching silicone straps are attached but unfortunately, you can’t replace them. Owners will be able to choose from 8 official watchfaces.

The Amazfit Ares can track a total of 70 different activities including basics such as running, swimming, and cycling, as well as other activities such as boxing, martial arts, taekwondo, sword-fighting, Zumba dance, ballet, bowling, squash, and lots more. The image below shows all the activities it can track.

The watch comes with FIRSTBEAT professional analysis algorithm that helps you improve the way you exercise. There is also Huami’s own PAI health assessment system built-in.

The Amazfit Ares has GPS+GLONASS for accurate tracking and also has a barometer for weather and altitude. There is a BioTracker PPG heart-rate sensor for 24-hour heart-rate monitoring. It also has a sedentary reminder, notification reminder, support for music playback, and offline payment.

With respect to battery life, the Amazfit Ares has a 200mAh battery capacity. Huami says it will last 13 days on a single charge with 24-hour heart-rate monitoring turned on, sleep tracking turned on, 150 notifications per day, GPS turned on for 30 minutes, and three exercise sessions per week. The battery life drops to 23 hours if GPS is turned on all-day. In basic watch mode, the Amazfit Ares will last up to 90 days on a single charge. The smartwatch charges via a magnetic charging stand.

The Ares will be available in two colors when it launches – Iwaguro (Black/Ash) and Army Green. It is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 and up and iOS 10.0 and above. There is no info on the price but that should become public knowledge when it is announced tomorrow.
