Huami had a silent launch for the Amazfit Smart Scale last month. We were surprised it didn’t have an event launch since this is the manufacturer’s first smart scale. While details about price and availability were not mentioned then, we have discovered that the smart scale is now available for purchase in the US while those in Europe can pre-order it. We have also found out that a second-gen model called the Amazfit Smart Scale2 is in development.

The Amazfit Smart Scale is priced at $49.99 on the US site and can be purchased right away. In Europe, Huami is charging €59.90 for the smart scale and it is only on pre-order with no info stating when it will begin shipping.

We found evidence of the second-gen smart scale in the Zepp app. Listed under the Enjoy tab is a feature called “Slimming Plan” and the description under the feature read “Amazfit Smart Scale2 Personalized Slimming Plan”, confirming that this is a feature of the yet-to-be-announced 2nd-gen Amazfit smart scale.

This is the only feature we have found of the Amazfit Smart Scale2 but we expect more details will surface in the future, though a lot of them will be similar to that of the 1st-gen model.

Huami has also announced its Early Black Friday deals which are limited to just two products and the US. There is the Amazfit Band 5 which has been discounted to $34.99 from its regular price of $49.99 and can be purchased in Black, Olive, and Orange. The second is the Amazfit GTR 47mm, and it has gotten a price cut from $139.99 to $109.99 for the stainless steel and aluminum alloy versions while the titanium version which normally sells for $179.99 can be gotten for $139.99.

The Amazfit Smart Scale has been a long time coming. We first reported about the smart scale in August when we spotted it on the Bluetooth SIG website and also found that the Amazfit app has added support for a smart scale. Now, Huami has put up a listing of the Amazit Smart Scale on its site even though it is yet to officially announce it.

The tempered glass top of the Amazfit Smart Scale has an aurora gradient design that should make the scale stand out, though not jarringly, in your home regardless of where you put it. The ABS plastic frame is gray while the top part where the display sits is black. The LCD display is 3.4-inches and should be large enough for users to see the readings clearly.

The smart scale has a high-precision G-shaped sensor that is sensitive enough to detect minor weight changes up to 50 grams. Huami says this means it can detect the change in weight even if you drink just a cup of water. The scale has a weighing range of 5 kg – 180 kg. The product page says the screen can display up to 8 different metrics depending on the user configuration.

The Amazfit Smart Scale measures not only weight but also 15 other body health metrics including body fat range, muscle mass, body water percentage, bone mass, physical age, visceral fat, and body type. It is able to achieve this thanks to its high-precision data processing chip.

Huami says it also has a feature called Calorie Cost that calculates the calories burned every 30 minutes for 18 supported sports. The supported sports include walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, mountain climbing, aerobics, table tennis, rope skipping, taekwondo, and golf. The Calorie Cost feature allows users to formulate a personalized exercise plan for bodybuilding. The feature isn’t available right out of the box but will be added via an OTA update.

The smart scale also has a feature called Balance Ability Analysis that evaluates your body’s skill at supporting movements. An improved balance ability is said to lower the risk of injury while exercising. The feature will be available via an OTA update. Another feature it has is Standing Heart Rate detection which assesses your overall fitness level.

The Amazfit Smart Scale can also be used by pregnant women as there is a feature that allows you to turn off body composition measurement and safely measure weight at zero current. There is also a baby weighing feature that calculates the weight of your baby on your phone when you stand on the scale with the baby in your arms.

The Amazfit Smart Scale connects via Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It works with the Zepp app and is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 and above and iOS 10 and above. It supports 10 accounts and each account can be used by up to 12 family members. It will identify family members sharing the same account and also has a guest mode whose data gets erased later.

The scale weighs 2.2 kilograms and is powered by four AAA batteries which will not be included in the box. There is no info on a launch date yet but Amazfit has a global event on October 27 and we believe the scale will be announced on that day.

The Amazfit Smart Scale is one of the products Huami is expected to announce this Autumn. While we wait for the launch, we have discovered some features of the smart scale in the Amazfit Zepp app and also have an idea of what it will look like.

The features are under the Enjoy menu and there are three of them which we have listed below:

Weight holding baby

Unlike older children and adults, weighing a baby isn’t as straightforward unless you have a baby scale at home. While a standard scale requires the person to stand upright, a baby scale requires the infant to be laid on its back.

However, there is a way to weigh a baby using a regular scale, and that is by subtracting your own weight from that of the weight of you carrying the baby. In this case, you will need a very accurate scale that can record your weight to two decimal places.

The image shows that you will be able to weigh your baby using the Amazfit Smart Scale and there will be a way to do it safely and accurately by going into the app. The method is similar to what we described above. The only difference is that the weight is automatically subtracted.

Balance on one foot

Another feature of the scale under the Enjoy menu is called “Balance on one foot”. This is a common test used to determine how healthy an individual is. All you have to do is stand on the scale with one leg with the other bent at a 45° angle and your eyes closed. The longer you can stand, the better your balance is.

Guest Mode

One of the features of a smart scale is the ability to store multiple user profiles. However, there are times when a guest wants to use your scale. For the Amazfit Smart Scale, you will be able to select a guest mode on the app so that the weight is not saved as yours or anyone else with a profile.

Body Composition Scale

The Amazfit Smart Scale will not just measure your weigth like a lot of smart scales. It will actually be able to determine other health parameters as it is body composition scale. The tab for the “Balance on one foot“ feature says in the decription that it is a body composition scale just like the Mi Body Composition Scale. So it should be able to determine visceral fat, muscle mass, BMI, bone mass, basal metabolism, and body fat among others.

With respect to the design of the smart scale, we believe it will come in black and have a dot matrix screen that displays results to two decimal places. We were able to deduce this from the image of the smart scale used in the app (see image above).

Huami is expected to announce new Amazfit products soon. Among the expected products are successors to the Amazfit GTR and Amazfit GTS. Today, the manufacturer released an official teaser hinting at the arrival of new products.

The teaser was posted on Weibo and it hints at the new products launching this autumn. Autumn begins in September, which means there should be a series of launches next month.

The Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 are expected to come with AMOLED displays like their predecessors. However, it has been reported that the GTS 2 may have a round dial rather than a square one. Other features reported to be present in the 2nd-gen GTS 2 are NFC, Alexa voice assistant, and a new feature called Smart Crown.

Huami should also launch its very first smart scale which has already received Bluetooth certification. There has also been a mention of another smartwatch called the Amazfit Neo. Nothing is known about the specs of the Neo save for its codename which is “Tokyo”.

We expect more details about these new products will surface in the coming weeks. So make sure to check back for updates.

A few days ago we reported that Huami may soon announce the Amazit GTR 2, Amazfit GTS 2, and a new smartwatch called the Amazfit Neo. It turns out that those are not the only new health-related products we will be getting soon. Huami has also received Bluetooth certification for its very first smart scale which will launch as the Amazfit Smart Scale.

The Amazfit Smart Scale certification page was published on August 5 which is almost two weeks ago. The page says the scale has the model number A2003 and connects via Bluetooth 5.0. Another certification page related to it reveals that it uses a Bluetooth module supplied by Broadcom-owned Beken Corp.

We also found out that (not entirely sure if it has always been there) that the Amazfit app now has the option for adding a smart scale even though the product is yet to launch. If you select the option, it displays the interface on the left and tells you to step on it to pair.

We are pretty excited that Amazfit is planning to add a smart scale to its lineup even though it is a little late compared to Xiaomi, Huawei, and Honor who all have smart scales already. However, as they say, better late than never.

Until we have more details, we can’t say if the Amazfit Smart Scale will track just weight and BMI or will be able to measure other features too such as muscle mass, body fat, visceral fat, bone density, etc.
