<p>In the latest development, it is <a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=3412">reported</a> that Samsung will be procuring Galaxy S22 series batteries from two companies &#8212; Samsung ADI and China&#8217;s Amperex Technology Limited and both of them will be used in the initial production batch.</p>
<figure id="attachment_416082" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-416082" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-416082 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/galaxy-s22-battery.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy S22 battery" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/galaxy-s22-battery.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/galaxy-s22-battery-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/galaxy-s22-battery-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/galaxy-s22-battery-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/galaxy-s22-battery-560x420.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-416082" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy S22 Battery (EB-BS901ABY)</figcaption></figure>
<p>It&#8217;s noteworthy that Samsung cut ties with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amperex-technology-limited">Amperex Technology Limited (ATL)</a> in 2017 when its batteries were causing extreme heat for the Galaxy Note7 smartphone, which resulted in the phone firing up.</p>
<p>Samsung started dealing with ATL for the batteries of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s21">Galaxy S21 series</a> that got launched earlier this year. Prior to that, the South Korean firm limited the usage of ATL batteries to only mid-range smartphones in the Galaxy A- and Galaxy M-series.</p>
<p>Apart from smartphones, the batteries manufactured by China&#8217;s Amperex Technology Limited are also used in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-watch">Galaxy Watch</a> as well as Galaxy Buds.</p>
<figure id="attachment_415100" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-415100" style="width: 4096px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-415100 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d.jpeg?x10805" alt="Galaxy S22" width="4096" height="2304" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d.jpeg 4096w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Galaxy-S22-render-d-1920x1080.jpeg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4096px) 100vw, 4096px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-415100" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy S22 Render</figcaption></figure>
<p>As per the report, the Chinese company will be providing a 3,800mAh battery for the standard Galaxy S22 smartphone along with 4,500mAh and 5,000mAh batteries for the Galaxy S22 Plus and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra">Galaxy S22 Ultra</a> smartphones, respectively.</p>
<p>Recently, the Samsung Galaxy S22 battery with the number EB-BS901ABY (14.35Wh) <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/29/samsung-galaxy-s22-battery-photo-leaks-smaller-3700mah-cell-s21/">was spotted</a> during a certification process in Korea. It revealed that the South Korean giant is decreasing the battery capacity on the upcoming S-series models but with the advancement of technology and better optimization, the battery life is expected to remain the same as of current models, if not increased.</p>
<p>If the reports are to be believed, then Samsung is initially <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/30/samsung-galaxy-s22-accounts-for-half-of-series-production-total/">planning to manufacture</a> around 20 million units for the entire Galaxy S22 lineup. However, the numbers could increase once the mass production begins or the devices get launched as the company usually produces 25-30 million units in the initial batches.</p>

What some probably don&#8217;t know is that not all units of the Galaxy Note 7 are affected by the explosion issue and subsequent global recall. First, the explosions of the Note 7 is not as a result of defects on the phone itself but due to faulty batteries.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-96956" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-galaxy-note-7-explosion.jpg?x10805" alt="samsung-galaxy-note-7-explosion" width="840" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-galaxy-note-7-explosion.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-galaxy-note-7-explosion-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-galaxy-note-7-explosion-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /></p>
<p>The Galaxy Note 7 battery cells are manufactured by two companies, Samsung SDI Co, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics and Amperex Technology LTD (ATL). But they are packaged in the company’s Vietnam factory and through a Chinese branch of South Korea-based ITM Semiconductor Co. Ltd.</p>
<p>While Samsung SDI supplies about 70% of the batteries on the Galaxy Note 7 basically non-removable ones, Amperex made up the remaining 30%. Unfortunately, it&#8217;s the batteries manufactured by Samsung SDI which is defective. Apparently, a flaw in the battery cell resulted in negative and positive electrodes coming together which is abnormal.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-96923" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-note-7.png?x10805" alt="samsung-note-7" width="600" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-note-7.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-note-7-300x250.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/samsung-note-7-95x80.png 95w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>According to an Amperex official, the company only supplies batteries for Galaxy Note 7 China Edition. This explains why the Note 7 launch in China still went ahead on September 1. So, If you are in China and own one of the Galaxy Note 7 launched on September 1, then your Note 7 is not among those at risk of explosion. If you&#8217;re planning to own one, then you&#8217;re good to go as long as you check to make sure the battery on the device is the one manufactured by Amperex Technology LTD.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read More: </span><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/09/03/samsung-says-chinese-variant-galaxy-note-7-safe/">Samsung Says Chinese Variant of Galaxy Note 7 is Safe</a></strong></p>
<p>You can also go ahead to confirm from the back of the phone&#8217;s casing if your Galaxy Note 7 is manufactured in Korea or Vietnam, then it probably has a defective Samsung SDI battery inside but if it is written made in China, then it contains a safe ATL battery inside and poses no risk of explosion. This information about where the phone is manufactured can also be accessed from the phone&#8217;s system settings.</p>
<p>Apart from China, the China edition of the Galaxy Note 7 with ATL batteries is said to also ship to Hong Kong, mainland China, and Macao. However, the T-Mobile carrier based version of the Note 7 is actually manufactured in China but has been recalled as well. This is just to allay the fears of Americans and not because the units are defective as well.</p>
