<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-446547 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-1024x679.jpg?x10805" alt="Smartphone Flash" width="1024" height="679" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-1024x679.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-768x509.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-696x461.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-1068x708.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-634x420.jpg 634w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/guillaume-bleyer-rjySqKQ-bk8-unsplash-1920x1273.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://blog.esper.io/android-13-flashlight-brightness-control/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mishaal Rehman</a></em>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Google</a> may add a brightness control feature for the camera flash which will let you adjust its brightness while being used as a torch. This feature is already present in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iOS/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iOS</a> devices and even Samsung offers it in their <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/One-UI/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">One UI</a> overlay.</p>
<p>However, there are a few caveats as not all Android devices will be able to implement this feature with just an Android 13 update. This is due to the flash brightness control requiring a hardware interface that not all phones would have installed with their camera packs. Meaning that it may be so that only future Android smartphones may get this feature.</p>
<p>Mishaal Rehman has also stated that the Android 13&#8217;s system-level torch light intensity option would likely debut on upcoming Pixel phones that are expected to be unveiled at Google&#8217;s I/O and then eventually trickle down to Android phone makers that don&#8217;t offer this feature in their interface overlay. So it appears that a lot of Android users might have to wait a while even after the launch of Android 13 to be able to utilize this feature.</p>

<p>Last year, a leak <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/24/android-13-features-leak-online/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">revealed</a> that the upcoming Android 13 will have the code name &#8220;Tiramasu&#8221; while also revealing some of the features planned for the OS. Now, the Dev preview has gone live which clearly reveals that this indeed is the codename of Android 13.</p>
<p>For those unaware, Tiramisu is a coffee-flavored Italian dessert. It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavored with cocoa. The recipe has been adapted into many varieties of cakes and other desserts and will now flavor the upcoming Android operating system.</p>
<p>Ever since Android 9 Pie, Google has stopped basing its Android marketing campaigns around the dessert-based code names of the operating systems. The search giant even skipped the process of giving a codename to Android 10 but resumed it with Android 11 Red Velvet Cake and Android 12 Snow Cone.</p>
<p>As for the highlights of Android 13 so far, the OS will bring back the dynamic theming but with better integration with third-party apps. The company is also tweaking how <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android">Android</a> handles security and permission.</p>
<p>A new photo picker will let users share photos and videos in local storage as well as on Google derive with an individual app without the app needing permission for all photos. This feature won’t be limited to Android 13 and will make its way to devices running Android 11 and above.</p>
