Samsung rolls out One UI 6 Beta 3 for Galaxy S23 series in India

Earlier this month, we reported that Samsung has started rolling out One UI 6 Beta 3 in Germany. The update came with noticeable changes. For instance, separate WLAN and Mobile Data options and Dark mode could now be activated from the quick panel. According to recent reports, the company has started rolling out One UI 6 Beta 3 in India for Galaxy S23 series.

A recent post on X by Harsha Tumu indicates that the One UI 6 beta 3 update is live for Galaxy S23 series in India. The update will be visible with the build version ending in ZWI8, and the size will be around 1.3GB. It is worth mentioning that the update includes the September 2023 security patch. New Features

Video Player
Enhanced layout: Video player controls are now easier than ever. Buttons with similar functions have been grouped together, and the Play button has been moved to the center of the screen.

Enhanced playback speed controls: Choose between several video playback speeds between 0.25x and 2.0x, speed controls are now easier to access with dedicated buttons instead of a slider.

Bugs that have been fixed

2. Improved sometimes stop problem when switching home screen using the app
3. Fixed Bixby call errors in certain situations
4. Improved sometimes stop problem when pressing long on the home screen
5. Improved the app termination problem when entering camera video mode

Vivo X90 Pro Android 14 Preview: When does it roll out?

The Chinese smartphone maker is gearing up to give X90 Pro users an exclusive FuntouchOS 14 experience on the upcoming Android 14 Preview Program. It plans on rolling out the preview on 18th September 2023. Registrations for the early Android 14 build begin on September 12. However, it is worth noting that only 500 users will be selected for this exclusive update.

To register for the preview program, head to Settings>System Update>Settings Icon (in the top-right corner)>Trial version. Keep in mind that you’ll need to upgrade to the latest system version 13.1.13.8.W30.V000L1 or above before applying for the Android 14 Preview. The build of the next-gen OS is the closed beta version. In other words, the software will likely face bugs and other stability issues that make certain apps incompatible.

For those interested, it is recommended that you back up your data before upgrading to the Android 14 Preview. The closed beta program is first come, first served so the application portal will automatically close once the program is full. Following the beta program and bug fixes, Vivo will roll out the update soon.

Earlier this week, we covered that Samsung has started rolling out One UI 6 Android 14 OS-based Beta in India. This update was visible with the firmware version ending in ZWHO on the company’s Galaxy S23 smartphones. But what’s caught our attention is that the Galaxy S23 series is reportedly receiving One UI 6 Beta 3 in Germany.

In a recent post on X (formally Twitter), Tarun Vats shared images suggesting that few people in Germany have started receiving One UI 6 Beta 3. The update is visible with a build version ending in ZWI4 on the Galaxy S23 series, and the update size is around 1GB. Another post by Ahmad on X showcases various visual UI changes in the quick panel of the device that are provided below.

The images show that the WLAN and Mobile Data quick access options have been separated, which reportedly can be adjusted according to preferences. The post also confirms that the Dark mode can now be activated from the quick panel, located just below the image’s ‘adjust brightness’ bar. Aside from the visual changes in the quick panel of One UI 6 Beta 3, the previously introduced One UI 6 Beta 2 offers a range of improvements and features. One thing to note is that only a small amount of people in Germany and the UK have received this update so far. Earlier, we reported that India was supposed to receive the One UI 6 Beta set on August 29 but was delayed. Now, According to a recent post on X, Samsung has started rolling out One UI 6 Beta in India. This Android 14-based update will be available on Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra.

Quick panel

New Button Layout
Quick Settings has a new layout that makes it easier to access the most commonly used functions. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth now have dedicated buttons at the top of the screen, while visual features like dark mode and eye comfort have been moved to the bottom. Other quick settings buttons are in a customizable area in the center.
Instantly access the full quick panel By default, a compact quick panel with notifications appears when you swipe down from the top of the screen. If you swipe down again, notifications will disappear and the expanded quick control panel will appear. If you enable instant access to quick settings, you can view the expanded quick control panel by swiping down once the screen. If you swipe down from the left side, re-notifications from the right side of the top will be displayed

Lock Screen

Reposition your watch – You now have the option to reposition your watch to the position you want on the lock screen.

Home Screen

Simplified Icon Labels
App icon labels are now a single line for a cleaner and simpler look. Removed “Galaxy” and “Samsung” from some app names to make them shorter and easier to scan.

Font

New default font
One UI 6 has a new default font with a more elegant and modern look. You will see the new font if the default font is selected in the settings. If you use a different font, you will see it even after upgrading to One UI 6.

Quick access to brightness control

The brightness slider now appears by default in the compact quick panel when you swipe down once from the top of the screen for quicker and easier adjustment of brightness.

Improved album art display

When playing music or video, the album art will cover the entire media controller in the notification panel if the app playing the music or video provides album art.

Improved notification layout

Each notification is now displayed as a separate card, making it easier to see each notification.

Sort notifications by time

You can now change your notification settings to sort by time instead of priority, so your most recent notifications are always at the top.

How to register for One UI 6 beta

If you wish to try out the One UI 6 beta on your compatible device, you can apply for it by following the steps below:

Install the Samsung Members App from the Google Play or Galaxy Store.
Login using your Account. (Note: You must have a Samsung Account to join the beta.)
You will be able to see a banner invite to the beta program.
Tap the banner and follow the One UI 6 beta registration.
After the registration, you will receive a notification to update, or users can go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to check for the update.

After downloading, the device will restart, and you can enjoy One UI 6.

Samsung kicked off the Android 14 OS-based One UI 6 beta earlier this month for the Galaxy S23 series in select regions. The One UI 6 Beta 2 was set to roll out on August 29, but it has now been delayed by another week.

Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup to receive One UI 6 Beta 2 in September

According to an official announcement, the South Korean tech giant is planning to include China, India, Poland, and the United Kingdom. These regions will receive the update on 4th September 2023. On the other hand, the second beta for the next-gen Android operating system might be released in Germany, South Korea, and the US later today (31st August 2023).

The company shared the announcement on its official Chinese Community Forum, which announced the second delay to September. It likely postponed the beta release over bug issues. The first iteration of the early One UI 6 build did feature minor issues like animation stutters or apps and widgets disappearing from the home screen. So it isn’t surprising that Samsung is taking its time to polish its Android 14 custom skin for better stability in the second beta.

The Korean giant officially unwrapped the OneUI 6.0 a couple of weeks ago bundling some exciting enhancements and features. The OneUI 6.0 Beta program is now live for the last year’s flagship Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Google releases Android 14 Beta 1.1 with critical bug fixes

Google has released an update for its Android 14 Beta, labeled as Beta 1.1, which primarily aims to fix numerous bugs that have been found in the previous version. The company has identified that some of the bugs in the Beta 1 were too annoying to wait for the next Beta 2 update, which is scheduled for next month. Hence, Google has launched this interim Beta 1.1 version to address the issues and make the users’ experience smoother.

While Android 14 is not expected to be released until later this year, Google is already making progress towards a stable version by releasing these beta updates for developers and early adopters to test and provide feedback.

The new build, UPB1.230309.017.A1 for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a units on Verizon, and UPB1.230309.017 for all others will be rolled out over-the-air to Pixel 4a 5G and later models that have enrolled in the Android Beta Program.
