Xiaomi has finally begun rolling out the much-awaited HyperOS 3 update to Xiaomi 13 Lite users. This one is based on Android 15 and packs some exciting new features, along with plenty of upgrades throughout the system. Unfortunately, this is the last major HyperOS upgrade for the Xiaomi 13 Lite users.

The smartphone was launched in early 2023 with Android 12 out of the box. It received three Android OS updates since then, now running Android 15, and isn’t eligible for more OS upgrades. That means it will spend the rest of its life running Android 15. According to the official website, the Xiaomi 13 Lite will reach end of life in August 2026.

Coming to the HyperOS 3 update, it’s rolling out to Xiaomi 13 Lite users in multiple regions with the following firmware versions:

• Xiaomi 13 Lite (Global): OS3.0.1.0.VLLMIXM
• Xiaomi 13 Lite (EEA): OS3.0.2.0.VLLEUXM

If you have a Xiaomi 13 Lite, you should be able to upgrade to HyperOS 3 by navigating to Settings > My device and tapping the HyperOS logo at the top. If the update doesn’t appear, check again in a few days, as the rollout happens in batches and can take a few days to reach all the users.

While not as rich as the Android 16-based software, HyperOS 3 with Android 15 still delivers a wide array of useful upgrades throughout the system, along with many visual enhancements and new features. Fortunately, it includes the new Hyper Island, which provides easier access to information with multitasking capabilities.

The update also includes new icons, new battery and signal indicators, enhanced animations, and system-wide blur effects. HyperOS 3 further improves integration with Apple devices by supporting iPhone call/SMS forwarding and screen sharing with a MacBook.

HyperOS 3 also integrates new AI features, including AI writing in notes, AI voice translation and noise reduction for recordings, AI Dynamic Wallpapers, and AI Search and AI photo search in Gallery. The latest update also includes numerous under-the-hood changes to deliver up to 30% better performance.

EOL approaching for Xiaomi 13 Lite

HyperOS 3 is the final major upgrade for the Xiaomi 13 Lite, and it will soon run out of security patches as well. The official website says software support will end in August 2026. By that time, the Xiaomi 13 Lite may receive one or two security updates, but it won’t receive HyperOS 3.1 or HyperOS 4.0.

Even after reaching the end of life (EOL), the Xiaomi 13 Lite will continue to work fine, but it won’t have the fixes for the recently discovered security vulnerabilities, which puts your device at risk, especially if it contains critical data.

It’s best to upgrade to a newer model, which will not only receive the latest security patches but also the latest features and upgrades from HyperOS updates. If you’re wondering about the best upgrade options, this page lists all Xiaomi devices that promise 6 years of software updates.

It’s based on Android 15, which recently began rolling out to the Redmi K60 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro series and is now expanding to more devices, including the Xiaomi 12 series, Xiaomi 12S series, and others.

The HyperOS 3 build, based on Android 15, is currently only available in China. Here are the latest Xiaomi devices that are getting this update, along with the firmware versions (as shared by Xiaomi Time):

The update will soon roll out to non-beta users once Xiaomi ensures that the build has no critical bugs.

Xiaomi has not confirmed a global release for the Android 15-based HyperOS 3 upgrade. However, the presence of global models such as Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi Civi 3 on the above list gives a positive indication. The brand typically rolls out the update in China first, then expands it to the rest of the world within a few weeks.

If your Android 15-based Xiaomi device has run out of major Android OS upgrades, you still have a chance to experience HyperOS 3 as the brand has just started rolling it out to those devices. The Android 15-based upgrade is currently available to select devices, including the Redmi K60 series and Xiaomi Pad 6 series, as a Mi Pilot Release, with more devices to follow soon.

The HyperOS 3 update, based on Android 15, is currently available only for Chinese models. The Redmi K-series is anyway China-exclusive, although it has been released in other countries under the Poco branding. Xiaomi hasn’t announced a rollout schedule for the Android 15-based HyperOS 3 update. Neither has it confirmed which devices are eligible for this upgrade. How is Android 15-based HyperOS 3 different from Android 16?

The HyperOS 3 upgrade, based on Android 15, will be a slightly downgraded version of the one based on Android 16. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the differences yet. However, based on reports, the Android 15-based software will also feature HyperIsland. The Android 16 iteration, on the other hand, includes additional UI polish and deeper integration of interactive shortcuts during ongoing activities.

The Android 15-based also implements over 100 improvements across the system, including animations, redesigned home screen icons, enhanced blur effects, and updated battery indicators. However, it lacks some platform-level security models directly integrated into Android 16, such as Identity Check, Advanced Protection Mode, AI-powered Scam Detection, and Private Space.

Still, there are numerous upgrades to the Android 15-based HyperOS 3 update, including performance optimizations, seamless cross-ecosystem integration, and enhanced multitasking capabilities.

Despite several missing upgrades, the HyperOS 3 upgrade, based on Android 15, still brings plenty to look forward to. On top of everything, it’s great to see Xiaomi rolling out a major HyperOS upgrade to devices that have already reached the end of Android OS updates.

After a frustratingly long wait, Samsung finally decided to kick off the stable One UI 7 rollout in early April. As anyone would expect, recent flagship models, such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6, were early to the party, followed by older Galaxy phones and tablets.

So far, Samsung has updated dozens of Galaxy phones and tablets to One UI 7, based on Android 15. But still, there are many left to get the treat, particularly mid-range and cheaper models. Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout plans

One UI 7 rollout was scheduled to go live on April 7th in India, but Samsung couldn’t fulfill it. The update kicked off a few later, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

These were the only three devices scheduled to get the update in April. However, Samsung unexpectedly also updated more Galaxy devices to One UI 7 later that month, including the Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5. So, Samsung is ahead of its rollout schedule. Hopefully, things will only get better with time.

The brand has already updated all Galaxy devices to One UI 7, which were on the schedule for this month, and it’ll most likely update more devices this month.

The Galaxy Tab A9, the last device on the rollout plan, is scheduled to receive the update in July. But it’ll most likely receive the update in June itself, marking the completion of the One UI 7 rollout.

Samsung has already begun rolling out the One UI 7 update to the Galaxy A-series. It’s currently live for the Galaxy A35, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A55, with remaining models set to join the party over the coming days and weeks. However, for two Galaxy phones, this update marks the end of the road.

The update party is almost over for Galaxy A14, A14 5G

The Galaxy A14 and Galaxy A14 5G will get the One UI 7 update sometime this month or next month — and this will be their last major software upgrade. While they won’t receive any more OS upgrades in the future, Samsung has promised to continue rolling out security patches for these devices for at least two more years.

Samsung announced the Galaxy A14 and Galaxy A14 5G in early 2023 with Android 13 out of the box. Both phones were promised two major Android updates — Android 14 and Android 15 — along with four years of security patches. So, the device will soon run out of major OS updates with the Android 15-based One UI 7 release. However, it will continue to receive security patches.

Galaxy A14 users probably shouldn’t rush for an upgrade just to keep getting OS updates (more on that below).

You probably don’t need a smartphone upgrade right now

If you own a Galaxy A14 or Galaxy A14 5G and are considering upgrading just to get the latest OS versions, you might want to hold off for a year (at least). The reality is that smartphone brands do not introduce significant changes with every big release.

One UI 7 is already a big step forward. Samsung spent more than two years planning this version and had a longer-than-usual development timeline — a major reason behind the update delay. Since many important changes and improvements are already baked into One UI 7, the next version — One UI 8 — is unlikely to bring drastic new features or changes.

So unless you’re looking to upgrade for reasons beyond just software (like better performance, display, or camera), sticking with your Galaxy A14 or A14 5G for another year isn’t a bad idea at all.

Keep in mind that the update doesn’t reach all carriers and unlocked models at the same time. It may take a few days — or even a few weeks — to arrive on your device. To manually check for the update, go to Settings > Software update and hit the Download and install option.

5 steps for a smooth transition to One UI 7

Major updates can sometimes cause issues like data loss or system bugs. Follow these five simple tips to make sure you’re upgrading safely:

1. Back up your data

This is the first and most important thing to do before hitting the install button, especially when it’s a major update. Backing up important data keeps you worry-free even in case of firmware failure. Although such incidents happen rarely, a possibility is always there.

You can use Samsung Cloud to backup without any storage limit. The only catch is that the backup is stored on Samsung’s servers for 30 days. Make sure to restore your data within that period.

2. Free up storage space

One UI 7 is a large update, with a download size of around 5GB or more. If your device doesn’t have enough space, the update might fail. Additionally, it can slow down your phone. It’s recommended that you keep at least 10GB free storage on your Samsung device.

Go to Settings > Device care > Storage to delete unnecessary files, unused apps, and large media files. You can reclaim more storage by removing some large files that are already backed up.

3. Install pending updates

Make sure all apps and system software are updated before installing One UI 7. Updated apps are more likely to be compatible with the new software.

You can update Samsung apps via the Galaxy Store and others through the Google Play Store. Also, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for any pending system updates.

4. Charge your device to at least 30%

Major updates like One UI 7 consume more battery and take longer to install. Make sure your phone is charged to at least 30% to avoid interruptions. If the phone shuts down mid-installation, you could end up with corrupted files or unstable software.

5. Read community feedback

Even stable builds can have bugs. Before installing, it might be a good idea to visit the Samsung Community forums or related subreddits to see how others are experiencing the update on your specific model.

Samsung’s software update policy for Galaxy A-series phones

Samsung has been the best Android brand to offer longer software updates to cheaper models. While other brands offer a maximum of two OS upgrades, Samsung has been long offering three major upgrades. The brand quickly bumped it to four for models such as Galaxy A73 and Galaxy A55. This is impressive for mid-range phones, which is only exclusive to high-end phones on other brands.

More recent models such as Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A26 come with as many as six years of OS updates — taking the software update game to a different level. This shift makes Samsung’s mid-range lineup even more appealing for buyers who want long-term value without spending a fortune.

Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout plan for Galaxy A-series phones

After a frustratingly long wait, Samsung finally began rolling out on April 8, with recent flagship models getting the first bite. Surprisingly, older Galaxy flagships like the Galaxy S23, S22, and S21 series, along with Galaxy Tab S9 series, Tab S8 series, and Galaxy foldables, also began receiving the update in April — ahead of the schedule, as these models were initially planned for One UI 7 upgrade in May. This was totally unexpected from Samsung.

As for the Galaxy A-series, the rollout is planned for June 2025. However, seeing updates hitting devices much earlier than the official schedule, we won’t be surprised if Samsung starts updating Galaxy A-series models (at least a few models) to One UI 7 as early as this month.

Samsung needs to quickly wrap up the One UI 7 rollout

With One UI 7, Samsung has lost the trust of many Galaxy fans. The brand has consistently provided timely software updates for years, but the One UI 7 rollout has been a complete disaster so far.

The beta program arrived with a delay, followed by a lengthy beta testing, only to test the patience of Galaxy fans. After a long wait, the stable rollout started earlier this month, with the latest premium phones getting the first bite.

The rollout will be completed by July 2025, as per the timeline published by Samsung. But by that time, Google would have released Android 16. According to the official timeline, the stable version of Android 16 will be released by June 2025, leaving Samsung little time to prepare for One UI 8.

One UI 7 is already too delayed, and another delay might push Samsung fans to choose a different brand. In fact, many Galaxy users have already made the switch, as per conversations on Reddit (1, 2, 3, 4). The Galaxy A55 5G is the only mid-range Samsung phone that got early access to One UI 7 software. The beta program kicked off earlier this month with the first beta release, and now we have the second beta update rolling out amid One UI 7 stable rollout chaos for high-end Galaxy phones.

Samsung is rolling out the second One UI 7 beta update for Galaxy A55 users in India. The update comes with the firmware version A556EXXU7ZYD3 and has a download size of around 336MB. It doesn’t bring new features, but rather includes three bug fixes and many improvements.

According to the changelog, the One UI 7 Beta 2 resolves poor visibility of Google Sports in Now Bar. It also resolves an issue related to the eSIM push notification icon. With the fixes in place, the phone now shows a SIM icon when receiving push notifications about eSIM. The latest beta fixes one more issue that’s related to MMS emoticon, but doesn’t state the changes in detail. The changelog rather mentions “Fix an issue that cannot be attached to MMS emoticon on a particular route.“

Besides these three fixes, Samsung has included the April 2025 security patch to the second beta. The latest security patch addresses dozens of vulnerabilities, enhancing the overall security and privacy (read more about it here). If you have a Galaxy A55 that’s already running One UI 7 beta, check if the second beta is ready for installation by going to Settings > Software updates and hitting the Download and install button.

The stable One UI 7 rollout is ‘unstable’ right now

After a long wait, followed by a lengthy beta program, the stable One UI 7 rollout finally went live on April 7, starting with South Korea. The Galaxy S24 series got the first bite, and then it quickly expanded to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Samsung began rolling out the stable One UI 7 update earlier this week, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. The rollout went live in Korea and was expected to go live in more markets on the same day, but that didn’t happen right away. The company is finally bringing the update to more regions, starting with Europe.

The One UI 7 update is now reaching the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in several European countries, including Germany, the UK, Poland, Italy, and Hungary. We suspect that the update is rolling out across European countries. The update carries the firmware version “BYCG” and includes the April 2025 security patch, along with a host of new features and improvements bundled with One UI 7.

Samsung initially released the update to Galaxy S24 series beta users, but within hours, it began rolling out to non-beta users as well. For beta users, the update weighs just around 450MB since they already have most One UI 7 features installed on their devices. For non-beta users, the update size is approximately 5GB, so it’s advisable to connect to a Wi-Fi network before downloading.

If the update notification hasn’t popped up on your Samsung device, head over to Settings > Software update and tap the Download and install option to check for latest updates. Before you install the update, ensure that your important data is backed up already and the device has at least 30% battery, so that it doesn’t power off during the firmware installation.

One UI 7 coming to more devices this month

The exciting One UI 7 update is currently available for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold SE in select regions. By the end of April, the update is expected to reach more devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Mid-range phones will start receiving the update from next month. Samsung aims to complete the One UI 7 rollout by the end of June. By then, Google will have released the stable version of Android 16. Samsung also appears to be gearing up for an early One UI 8 release, as multiple One UI 8 builds have already been spotted on internal test servers. This move could help Samsung make up for the One UI 7 delay and reinforce the trust it has earned over the years.

According to the latest timeline published on Samsung Members, the wait for One UI 7 update will be longer than expected for mid-range phones. Samsung hasn’t included any Galaxy A, M, or F series phones in April’s rollout plan. Even the Galaxy A55, which already has access to the One UI 7 beta, is missing from the list.

This timeline has been published by Samsung Korea. Samsung hasn’t announced a rollout timeline for other regions. However, based on past rollouts, the company is likely to follow a similar timeline for other regions.

It takes no time to realize that many Galaxy devices are missing from the list, including Galaxy S21 FE, many Galaxy A-series models, and more. That’s because this timeline is for Korea, and hence only includes devices that were released in the country.

Based on past patterns, Samsung is likely to follow a similar timeline globally. The entire rollout is expected to wrap up by the end of June 2025. Hopefully, Samsung won’t delay it any further, especially with Android 16 expected to launch around the same time.

Interestingly, Samsung is reportedly planning to skip incremental updates like One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1. Instead, the company will focus directly on One UI 8, which could help restore its reputation for fast software rollouts it has built over the years.

The brand has already announced which countries will get the One UI 7 update and when. According to the plan, most countries will start receiving the update on April 7. Sadly, only users in Korea received the update on that day, but other promised regions should also start receiving it anytime now. Some regions will receive the update from April 10, and a few will get it from April 14.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 One UI 7 update details

Samsung is rolling out the stable One UI 7 update to Galaxy Z Fold 6 in Korea. However, it won’t be long before it expands to other parts of the world. Users in Korea can identify the update by the firmware version F956NKSU2BYCK.

The update is rolling out to both beta and non-beta users. For non-beta users, the update has a download size of around 5.2GB. However, beta users only need to download a 400MB update package. That’s because they have already received major changes and new features. The update changes the beta state to stable and might include minor improvements and some fixes.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 getting One UI 7 update details

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is also getting the One UI 7 update in Korea. The update is tagged with firmware version F741NKSU2BYCJ and has a download size of around 5.1GB. Since it’s a pretty big update package,  I recommend downloading it over a stable and fast Wi-Fi connection instead of using mobile data. For beta users, the update only weighs around 400MB.

Galaxy Z Fold SE One UI 7 update details

Surprisingly, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is also getting the stable One UI 7 update today. Samsung had already announced the One UI 7 release date for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, but the Galaxy Z Fold SE was not a part of the announcement. It’s good to see such surprises from Samsung, but not the kind of surprises it has given in the last few months.

Like the other Galaxy foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold SE, too, is getting the update in Korea. It comes with the firmware version F958NKSU2BYCK and has a download size of around 5GB. Besides a major UI overhaul, new features, smoother animations, new icons, and plenty of customizations, the latest brings the April 2025 security patch for additional protection against dozens of vulnerabilities found in the previous software version.

If you have a Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, or Galaxy Z Fold SE in Korea, the One UI 7 update should be ready for installation. Simply go to Settings > Software updates and hit the Download and install button. Even if you live outside Korea, the wait shouldn’t be too long as Samsung is usually quick to expand the update’s availability to more markets. Before installing the update, follow these five steps for a smooth transition to One UI 7.

Samsung is rolling out the One UI 7 update to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra users in Korea. The update is tagged with the firmware version that ends with BYCG. It’s a major upgrade with a download size of around 5.2GB. Beta users, however, don’t need to download a bulky package as the update package weighs just 400MB. That’s because almost all big changes have already been installed via beta builds.

The Galaxy S24 FE isn’t a part of this One UI 7 release, though. Fan Edition (or FE) devices don’t get updates alongside their regular models. However, Samsung has already confirmed that the device will get the update by the end of this month. So, the wait shouldn’t be too long.

To install the One UI 7 update on your Galaxy S24, go to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install. Once the download is finished, tap the Install now button. If the update isn’t showing up on your device, try again later, as the updates are rolled out in phases. Before installing the update, follow these quick steps for a smooth transition to One UI 7.

April 7 is here — and if you’re a Galaxy user, this date is worth circling in bold. Samsung is officially beginning the rollout of the One UI 7 update today. While the update will initially be available only in select countries, it’s still a major milestone, especially considering the delays and anticipation over recent months.

Samsung has confirmed that the rollout will begin with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. More Galaxy devices will join the list later this month. The update hasn’t gone live at the time of writing, but it’s only a matter of hours. So while you’re waiting for that update notification, it’s the perfect time to get your Samsung device ready for this big upgrade. Below are some key steps to ensure a smooth, bug-free transition to One UI 7.

5 steps to follow before installing One UI 7

You could simply hit the install button like most users, but skipping these steps might put your device at risk of data loss, corrupted installation, or annoying software bugs. Better safe than sorry! With that in mind, let’s review the steps.

1. Back up your data

This is the first and most important thing I do before hitting the install button, especially when it’s a major update. Backing up important data keeps you worry-free even in case of firmware failure. Although such incidents happen rarely, a possibility is always there.

The best way out is to set up automatic backup via cloud storage, so that you don’t have to do it manually. There are free options such as Google Cloud and Mega, but you might need to pay for it if the backup size is too big to fit the free plan. Alternatively, you can use Samsung Cloud to backup without any storage limit. The only catch is that the backup is stored on Samsung’s servers for 30 days. Make sure to restore your data within that period.

2. Free up storage space

One UI 7 is a large update, with a download size of around 5GB or more. If your device doesn’t have enough space, the update might fail. Additionally, it can slow down your phone. It’s recommended that you keep at least 10GB free storage on your Samsung device.

Go to Settings > Device care > Storage to delete unnecessary files, unused apps, and large media files. You can reclaim more storage by removing some large files that are already backed up.

3. Install pending updates

Make sure all apps and system software are updated before installing One UI 7. Updated apps are more likely to be compatible with the new software.

You can update Samsung apps via the Galaxy Store and others through the Google Play Store. Also, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for any pending system updates.

4. Charge your device to at least 30%

Major updates like One UI 7 consume more battery and take longer to install. Make sure your phone is charged to at least 30% to avoid interruptions. If the phone shuts down mid-installation, you could end up with corrupted files or unstable software.

5. Check community feedback

Even stable builds can have bugs. Before installing, it might be a good idea to visit the Samsung Community forums or related subreddits to see how others are experiencing the update on your specific model.

If there are widespread issues, you might want to wait for a future build with bug fixes.

One UI 7 rollout has been a disaster

The One UI 7 release for older Galaxy devices has been nothing short of a disaster so far. Samsung has yet to update a single Galaxy device to the stable version of One UI 7, while many other Android brands, such as OnePlus and Nothing, have nearly completed their Android 15 rollouts.

Samsung was also late in launching the One UI 7 beta program this year. The stable version of Android 15 was released on October 15, but Samsung didn’t kick off its One UI 7 beta program until December. While this delay wasn’t a major disappointment, what followed was incredibly frustrating. The company kept the beta program exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series for months, releasing beta updates at long intervals.

At one point, it seemed like the One UI 7 beta program would remain exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series. However, earlier this month, Samsung announced its expansion to more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 quickly received the One UI 7 beta after the announcement, followed by the Galaxy Tab S10 series and Galaxy S23 series.

On March 18, Samsung finally revealed the One UI 7 release date — April 7. While most countries will start receiving the update on this date, some regions, including the US and Canada, will have to wait until April 10. Users in Malaysia and Singapore will need to wait even longer, as the rollout begins on April 14 in those regions.

A little cameo was followed after when Samsung removed the One UI 7 rollout date from the US Newsroom, but it was quick enough to republish it — thankfully, without any changes. This has been the chaotic journey of One UI 7 so far. Hopefully, Samsung won’t make this delay a pattern for future major updates, which appears to be true as multiple reports suggest the brand might skip One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 to directly focus on One UI 8.

Samsung is now bringing more clarity to the One UI 7 release schedule. It has now detailed when and which Galaxy devices will get the One UI 7 update. So now, we’ve more clarity on when to expect the update to hit our phones.

Samsung’s Czech Republic website has published (via) a detailed One UI 7 rollout plan. The rollout will begin on April 10 for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. A week later, the update will expand to the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The update will then expand to the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S23 FE in the following weeks.

Samsung has also revealed the update rollout plan for the Galaxy tablets. According to which, the Galaxy Tab S10 series models will get the update in mid-April 2025. A week later, the Galaxy Tab S9 series will join the party. The Galaxy Tab S8 series models will get the One UI 7 update towards the end of April. Samsung says other Galaxy tablets will get the update in May 2025.

This One UI 7 rollout plan was published on Samsung’s Czech Republic website, meaning it applies specifically to that region. However, Samsung may follow a similar schedule for the US, as the rollout there is also set to begin on April 10. That said, there’s no official confirmation that both regions will follow the exact same timeline.

Samsung’s recent handling of One UI 7 updates has raised some doubts. Last week, the company announced the One UI 7 release date for the US, only to remove the post shortly after. While it was republished the next day (without any changes), this inconsistency has made users question whether Samsung is fully prepared for the rollout.

Additionally, the company has backtracked on One UI 7 promises in the past, so the Czech Republic schedule may not necessarily align with Samsung’s plans for other countries.

So the rumors were true. The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is indeed getting the sixth One UI 7 beta update, and this could be the final one before the stable update arrives early next month.

The One UI 7 beta 6 update is rolling out to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra (the S24 FE is not part of the beta program). It comes with the firmware version ZYCE and brings several new features and bug fixes to enhance the overall software experience. Since the majority of changes and additions have already been implemented, the update size isn’t huge — it’s only around 1.25GB.

As noted by SamMobile, the changelog is the same as the third One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, which was released yesterday. This means we’re finally getting the Audio Eraser feature. This feature can identify up to six different types of sounds and lets you increase or decrease the volume of identified sounds in videos to enhance the audio experience. For example, you can lower or remove the voices of people chattering in the background and increase yours for better clarity.

The sixth One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24 series also brings an improved version of Sketch to Image, with the ability to give specific instructions to Galaxy AI while generating an image. Additionally, the update introduces the ability to summarize call recordings into text summaries.

Furthermore, the update includes deeper integration of Google Gemini. You can now access it quickly by holding the side button. The update allows you to create stickers and images and summarize web pages. It also enhances the Settings app with natural language search integration, enabling users to find settings using everyday language. For example, searching “my eyes are feeling tired” in Settings will suggest options like adjusting brightness or enabling Eye Comfort Shield.

The beta update also improves the battery animations at the top and includes fixes related to widget overlapping, media controller UI elements, and routines.

Samsung is rolling out the One UI 7 beta 6 update for the Galaxy S24 series in multiple countries, including India, Korea, and Germany. If you have a Galaxy S24 running One UI 7 beta, you can install the latest update by going to Settings > Software update and tapping on Download and install.

This could be the final One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24 series, as the stable rollout is only two weeks away. Past reports also indicate that the Galaxy S24 series would receive six beta updates. This means the next update could be the stable one.

The Galaxy S23 series received the One UI 7 beta earlier this month, but it didn’t bring all Galaxy AI features from the Galaxy S25 series. Since it was a beta release, many assumed Samsung might include those missing features in the stable release. However, Samsung has now confirmed which Galaxy AI features won’t be coming to the Galaxy S23 series with the One UI 7 update.

Samsung won’t bring Audio Eraser and Natural Language Search to the Galaxy S23 series with the One UI 7 update. Not just the Galaxy S23, but dozens of other Galaxy devices will also miss out on these Galaxy AI features, as they are reserved for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Tab S10 series.

The Audio Eraser feature helps users remove unwanted sound from videos. It can identify up to six types of sounds in a video, which the user can decrease or increase to achieve the desired output. For example, you can lower or remove the voices of people in the background and enhance yours for a better listening experience.

The Natural Language Search feature makes life easier by allowing users to use everyday language to find settings or perform actions. This means you no longer need to remember the exact setting names. The feature works with the Settings and Gallery. For example, if you search “my eyes are feeling tired” in Settings, it will suggest options like adjusting brightness or enabling Eye Comfort Shield.

While these two AI features are confirmed to be missing from the Galaxy S23 series with the One UI 7 update, there could be one more — Now Brief.

In an interview, Sally Jeong, EVP and Head of Framework R&D at Samsung MX, stated that “AI features that utilize on-device processing, such as the personal data engine, really require advanced chipsets and hardware like those found on the Galaxy S25 series with Snapdragon 8 Elite.” She also mentioned that cloud-based AI features, such as Circle to Search, are easier to roll out to a wide range of Galaxy devices. However, for deeper on-device AI experiences, powerful hardware is required. Since Now Brief relies on the personal data engine, it may not come to many Galaxy devices with the One UI 7 update, and the Galaxy S23 could be among them.

Despite missing out on some Galaxy AI features, the One UI 7 update still has plenty to offer for the Galaxy S23 series. It will bring new icons, a UI redesign, new animations, a vertical app drawer, extensive customizations, smoother animations, Writing Assist, Drawing Assist, and more. There’s also the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite on the list, but Samsung hasn’t specified which year’s model will receive the update. The 2020 version has already reached the end of its OS update cycle. The 2022 model has received two OS updates and might get another. This means, One UI 7 is guaranteed for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024), while the 2022 model is uncertain for now.

Samsung One UI 7 rollout timeline

Samsung recently announced when the One UI 7 update will start rolling out. However, the dates vary by region.

The stable One UI 7 rollout will begin on April 7 in several regions, including India, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, the UAE, and more. Canada will start receiving the update from April 10, while Mexico and Singapore will get it from April 14.

Just when I started feeling confident about Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout execution, the brand made another disappointing move. Samsung recently announced the exact rollout dates for multiple regions via a post on Samsung Newsroom. The update was scheduled to go live in the US starting April 10, but now that seems off the track.

Samsung has removed the post from the US Newsroom that initially revealed the One UI 7 rollout date. The website now displays a One UI 7 banner that reads, “The official rollout beginning this April.” Tapping on it redirects to the homepage, instead of opening a post with One UI 7 rollout details.

This quiet removal of the rollout date from the US Newsroom suggests a possible delay for the One UI 7 update rollout in the US. But it’s not just the US — Galaxy users in Australia might also have to wait longer for the One UI 7 update.

Yesterday, Samsung published a new post on its Australian Newsroom website that says, “the official rollout of One UI 7 will start from April” without providing a specific date. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the US and Australia will receive the update on the same date, it does hint at a potential delay in both regions.

Meanwhile, the stable One UI 7 rollout is set to begin on April 7 in several regions, including India, Indonesia, Mexico, New Zealand, and more. Canadian users will start receiving the update from April 10, while Malaysia and Singapore will see the rollout from April 14. Hopefully, there won’t be any further delays.

One UI 7: new features and major changes

The animations have gotten better, leading to a smoother experience when opening and switching apps and navigating the UI — and we finally have a vertical app drawer. Most Galaxy users would appreciate it even though it’s a small change.

Perhaps the biggest visual upgrade is the new Now Bar. It’s an interactive pill-shared UI element that sticks to the bottom of the lock screen and provides quick access to ongoing activities, real-time updates from Google Maps, live sports scores, charging status, and more. Most stock apps have got new icons with a more colorful appearance.

One UI 7 adds new interactive widgets and lets you freely place them on the home screen. The widget section has also been updated to look modern and visually appealing. The update also brings new charging animations.

Samsung has improved the Quick Settings panel by offering more customizations and separating the Quick Settings and notification panel for easier access. You can now rearrange sections by dragging and dropping them. The home screen is also more customizable than ever before. The lock screen, too, is getting a host of new customizations to make it more personal.

Galaxy AI has been improved to be more helpful, while also offering new features. The Writing Assist now works across the UI with any keyboard (previously restricted to Samsung Keyboard). The call transcript feature can automatically transcribe recorded calls in up to 20 languages.

One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series also brings Now Brief to present relevant information based on time and user habits. Since this feature requires a lot of on-device processing, it won’t come to most Galaxy devices (more on this here). It’s there in One UI 6.1 as well, but in One UI 7, it works with every app, no matter which keyboard you’re using (previously restricted to Samsung Keyboard).

Drawing Assist is a cool AI feature that helps bring ideas to life. This feature now accepts more than a single input, including combinations of text prompts and images or sketches. One UI 7 also introduces Audio Eraser, an AI tool to remove unwanted noise in videos. It’s a useful feature, but not many Galaxy devices will have access to it. The Audio Eraser works only on the Galaxy S25 series, S24 series (S24 FE included), Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

Samsung says One UI 7 has deeper Google Gemini integration for a more intelligent voice assistant. Long-pressing the side button opens Google Gemini assistant, which can answer your queries and show recommendations in seamless interaction. The natural language search is now coming to Settings. That means you no longer need to remember the settings name; simply type what you want, and the Settings app will present relevant options on the screen. For example, if you ask “my eyes are feeling tired,” the Settings app will recommend options such as adjusting brightness or turning on Eye comfort shield.

The Galaxy S24 owners are still waiting for a stable One UI 7 update despite getting access to the One UI 7 beta program in early December 2024. The beta program typically doesn’t last that long, but that’s been the case with the Galaxy S24. Either previous betas have had too many bugs, or Samsung may have stretched it intentionally for whatever reason.

Samsung has now released another One UI 7.0 beta update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. This is the fifth and could be the final One UI 7.0 beta for the S24 series. The phones are set to receive the stable build next month. So, if this is the final beta, the stable update might be released in early April rather than a few weeks later.

What’s new in One UI 7 beta 5 for the Galaxy S24 series

The fifth One UI 7.0 beta update for the Galaxy S24 series is currently rolling out in India, Korea, Germany, Poland, the UK, and the US, with the firmware version ending with ‘ZYC6’. It has a download size of around 950MB. The update brings Samsung Log video recording support on the Galaxy S24 and S24+. This feature was added to Galaxy S24 Ultra with the fourth beta update. 

The fifth beta also brings several improvements in addition to a host of bug fixes. It resolves the Now Bar display issue, as well as issues related to lock screen notification, font/image partial overlap, icon size on the widget setting screen, and blur effect for widget transparency.

Samsung has also resolved the issues related to Notification history and the Edit button in the Gallery app. The update improves Media playback to display as a real-time notification.

1. Significant visual redesign

One UI 7 is Samsung’s biggest visual redesign in recent years, giving users a fresh feel. The update brings bold aesthetics with vibrant, colorful app icons that look visually appealing. The animations feel smoother throughout the interface, creating a fluid experience when switching apps and multitasking.

Samsung has separated the notification panel and Quick Settings for easier access—swiping down from the left reveals the notification panel, and the other side opens the Quick Settings. You can reverse the change at any point, though. The notifications themselves have been upgraded to a pill-shaped design and increased size, making them easier to look at and interact with.

Perhaps the most innovative addition is the new “Now Bar” — a pill-shared dynamic element that appears at the bottom of the lock screen and provides quick access to ongoing activities, such as music playback, timers, and navigation updates. This interactive element reduces the need to switch between apps for common tasks.

One UI 7 also brings new charging animations that look cool and enhance the visual experience. In an unlocked state, the device uses the Now Bar to display the charging status and battery level, and when it’s locked, the battery icon turns green and shows a “Charging” text when connecting the charger.

There are many more visual changes that contribute to a more interactive and enjoyable software experience.

2. Customizations goes a step further

One UI 7 takes customizations to new heights with new options and improvements throughout the interface. It brings many new widgets that can be customized in many ways to give your home screen a new look.

Speaking of the home screen, it now includes the Home Up options for additional customizations without the need for a separate app. The latest One UI skin lets you add stickers on the home screen and supports free-form layouts, breaking away from grid layouts.

The lock screen has also been updated for improved personalization. There are new clock designs with more control over their placement and sizing. The update also brings new widgets for the lock screen for a more personalized experience. You can also customize the two shortcuts at the bottom.

You can also rearrange the different segments and widgets any way you want. Just hit the pencil icon at the top to go into the editing mode. The brightness and volume slider position can’t be changed, though.

3. Advanced Galaxy AI integration

One UI 7 expands AI capabilities that make Galaxy devices smarter and more helpful than before. The Writing Assist now works across the UI and with any keyboard (previously restricted to Samsung Keyboard). This enables seamless text improvisation on the go without needing to switch the keyboard or the app.

With One UI 7, Samsung has introduced automatic call transcripts in 20 different languages. When call recording is enabled, the device automatically creates a transcript of the conversation, so you don’t need to manually note important details from the conversation.

There’s also an AI audio eraser that improves the audio quality of videos by removing unwanted background sounds. The object eraser tool now also works with videos. It lets users select and remove unwanted objects from video frames.

One UI 7 also introduces Now Brief, which can analyze your habits to present relevant information and suggest helpful actions. Since it requires extensive on-device processing, Samsung might not bring it to less-powerful devices.

4. Cleaner Camera UI

The Camera app in One UI 7 looks less cluttered and provides easier access to controls. The top menu now has fewer options, while the remaining controls are hidden inside an expandable button. 

The camera modes have moved below the shutter button, making switching between photo, video, and other modes easier. Another essential addition is a zoom slider in the Pro Video mode.

Samsung has also added an “Audio playback” feature that lets users record videos while playing music in the background. This could be particularly useful for creating dance or lip-sync videos.

5. Essential improvements

One UI 7 brings plenty of other changes, but there are some you should know about. First is the vertical app drawer — yes, it’s here, finally. You can now scroll in a single motion with a sidebar that lets you jump directly to specific letters to find apps even faster.

You can go back to the old horizontal layout anytime, but with how intuitive and effortless the new design feels, I doubt many will want to. Samsung has also improved the existing multitasking feature for better productivity.

One UI 7 brings new battery protection modes to optimize battery health. Samsung phones also get the app archiving feature to save some storage by uninstalling the app while keeping the user data around. Although it’s an Android 15 feature, it can be a reason to upgrade to the newest software.

Finally, the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy Tab S10 series users can now participate in the One UI 7 beta program and get early access to the latest features ahead of the public rollout. This has been a really long waiting period, which finally comes to an end.

Samsung is rolling out the One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra users in India, Korea, the UK, and the US. So, the update has reached all intended regions. It comes with the One UI build version ending with ZYC3. It’s a pretty big upgrade with a download size of around 4.7GB.

The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Tab S10 Ultra are also getting access to the One UI 7 beta program. The beta update has been spotted in Korea. However, it might be rolling out in other eligible countries as well. The One UI build version for the first One UI 7 beta update ends with ZYC2. Since it’s a significant upgrade, you’ll need to download a massive update package that weighs over 4GB in size.

When will older Galaxy devices get stable One UI 7 update?

Samsung is currently busy expanding the One UI 7 beta program to more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are the latest beta participants, with more devices to join it later this month. As for the stable release, it’s scheduled for next month.

While Samsung hasn’t provided a release timeline yet, it’s obvious that the Galaxy S24 series will be the first in line when the rollout begins next month. Other premium models, such as Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and Tab S10 series, should join the party in the same month. It will then expand to mid-range and cheaper Galaxy devices.

While the stable update is at least a month away, you can get an early taste of One UI 7 via the beta program. One UI 7 beta rollout timeline

Samsung began the One UI 7 beta program a little later than usual in the first week of December 2024. The Galaxy S24 was obviously the first to get an early taste of the software, but it didn’t expand to any other Galaxy device until this week.

On March 5, Samsung finally announced the expansion of the One UI 7 beta program to more Galaxy devices and revealed some important details about the release timeline. Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 would get the beta update in the same week (it is already rolling out). It also revealed that the remaining devices, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S10 series, and Galaxy A55, will get the beta update in March 2025.

So, here’s the confirmed beta release timeline:

How to apply for the One UI 7 beta program?

Step 1: Check your eligibility

Samsung offers the beta program only to a few Galaxy devices. Therefore, to participate in the beta program, you must have a device that’s actually eligible for it (see the complete list of eligible devices above).

The second eligibility criteria is your current region, as the One UI 7 beta program is only available in select countries, including India, Korea, the UK, and the US.

Step 2: Enroll for the beta program

Now, you have to register your Galaxy device to participate in the One UI 7 beta program. To do this, you must check if Samsung has opened the beta program for your Galaxy device.

Open the Samsung Members app on your Galaxy device and look for the One UI Beta Program banner. It usually appears at the top. If you don’t see the banner, it means Samsung hasn’t opened the beta program for your Galaxy device (or it’s yet to reach your country). You should check again later. Once you see the One UI Beta Program banner, tap on it and click the Enroll button.

Now, fill in the required details. After this, you can install the beta update on your device.

When you view a supported airline or travel webpage that includes a boarding pass in Samsung Internet, a button will appear so you can add it to Samsung Wallet quickly and easily.

Activity forecasts

It's now easy to check if the weather is suitable for outdoor activities such as running, gardening, camping, and more. You can choose up to 3 activities to show in the Weather app.

Custom place labels

It's easier to keep track of different locations in the Weather app. You can now set custom labels to the locations you add, such as Home, Office, School, or any other place where you want to check the weather.

Boost your gaming

Game Booster's in-game panel has been redesigned, making it easier to change settings quickly without leaving the action.

Set performance for each game

Game Booster now lets you adjust performance settings separately for each game. You can set some games to high performance and others to save battery for longer gameplay time. Find the settings that work best for you.

A bit later than usual, Samsung announced the One UI 7 beta program in early December 2024. To no one’s surprise, the Galaxy S24 series was the first in line to receive the early treat, followed by a few betas in the same month. Months went by, but Samsung didn’t bring it to any other device until today — until now. The One UI 7 beta is finally reaching more Galaxy devices.

The Samsung devices in question are the Galaxy Z fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The beta program for these foldables has been spotted in India, Korea, and the US. However, it will also be available for the users in the UK any time now.

The One UI 7 beta update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 users in the US comes with firmware version F956U1UEU2ZYBJ. In India, the beta update carries the firmware version F956BXXU2ZYBJ. For the Galaxy Z Flip 6 users in South Korea, the update is tagged with firmware version F741NKSU2ZYBJ. It’s a major upgrade, so the update package is also bulky, weighing around 5GB in size. How to sign up for the One UI 7 beta program?

The One UI 7 beta program gives you an early taste of the major release, but there are also some risks associated with it. The beta builds generally have bugs and broken features. So, it’s better if you install such builds on your non-primary device. And make sure you have backed up all your data because there’s always a risk of update failure.

The first step is to ensure that the One UI 7 beta program is available for your Galaxy device in your region (eligible countries include India, Korea, the UK, and the US). How would you know this? Open the Samsung Members app and look for the One UI 7 beta program banner. If you can’t find this, check back again later.

Once you see the One UI 7 beta program banner, click the Enroll button and fill in the required details to complete the process. Then, open the Settings app, tap Software update, and hit the Download and install button.

Before you install the beta update, make sure the remaining battery is above 40%, and you have backed up all your important files. For backup, you can use Samsung’s temporary cloud to store unlimited data for 30 days. You can find the steps here.

Samsung’s One UI 7 beta program has remained exclusive to Galaxy S24 for months, but now things are improving. The brand has announced its plans to expand the beta program to more Galaxy phones and tablets.

In a press release, Samsung announced that the One UI 7 beta program will expand beyond the Galaxy S24 series. This includes the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy A55.

The brand has also revealed details about the stable release. It has said that the stable rollout will begin in April. The Galaxy S24 series will likely be the first to receive the stable version of One UI 7, and then it will expand to more devices.

One UI 7 is one of Samsung’s biggest software upgrades, but its rollout has been probably the worst so far. The brand has not even upgraded a single Galaxy device to One UI. Therefore, the hottest question among Galaxy owners right now is: When is One UI 7 coming to Galaxy devices? Samsung has been completely silent on this. However, a person from the One UI beta team recently shared some information, which only made the matter worse.

If you’ve been tracking One UI 7 news lately, you’d know that a One UI 7 release timeline surfaced on the internet, supposedly leaked out of a Zoom meeting held by Samsung Romania. As per the leaked timeline, the One UI 7 stable rollout will begin on April 18, starting with the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Z Fold 6/Flip 6. The leak also details the rollout date for dozens of Galaxy devices. It seems that was only a speculated timeline, as Samsung still hasn’t finalized the One UI 7 rollout.

A Samsung Community moderator part of the One UI beta team said, “Samsung is focused on ensuring a stable and polished release, which is why we avoid providing a fixed timeline until it’s finalized.” He also claims there’s no official release date for the stable One UI 7 update, as the team is still working to refine the software based on beta feedback and ongoing optimizations. This puts all the rumored release dates and timelines to rest.

While it’s good to read Samsung’s take on the recent leaks, a much better take could have been the announcement of the One UI 7 timeline. Samsung is testing the patience of Galaxy fans, which doesn’t seem to be ending very soon. This is really disappointing from the brand, given that it has released entry-level phones like Galaxy A06 5G and Galaxy M06 with One UI 7 out of the box while leaving premium devices like Galaxy S24 series and Z Flip 6/Fold 6 in the queue without any release timeline.

While Samsung is busy dealing with One UI 7 bugs and fixes, Google is halfway through the Android 16 development. The One UI 7 beta program kicked off with a slight delay in early December 2024. As anyone would expect, the latest flagship — the Galaxy S24 series — was the first to get an early taste of the newest software. So far, the Galaxy S24 models have received multiple One UI 7 betas, but other users have been left waiting. At one point, it seemed the brand might not push One UI 7 beta to more devices, but fresh information suggests otherwise.

It’s been around four months since the first One UI 7 beta was released, and Samsung is yet to open the beta program for more Galaxy devices. This has never happened in the One UI history. Usually, the beta program expands to more devices within weeks, but not this time. Some reports suggested that Samsung won’t expand the One UI 7 beta program beyond Galaxy S24 and directly release the stable build instead. But no, that’s not happening, unfortunately.

Recently, the One UI 7 beta builds for the Galaxy S23 models were spotted on the server, suggesting that Samsung might announce the beta program for these 2023 flagships. Beta builds were also spotted for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. More concrete evidence showed up when Samsung created dedicated pages for Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and Galaxy S23 in the One UI Beta Program subforum on its community website.

So, Samsung isn’t restricting the One UI 7 beta program to the Galaxy S24 series. But isn’t that too late? While the beta program would allow users to explore new features before the stable release, the beta testing itself takes a few weeks (at least), and that would push the stable further. We aren’t against beta testing. It’s good for the users as it allows the brand to test and refine the software to give a nearly bug-free experience, but this massive delay somewhat reduces the excitement. Samsung is clearly not communicating well with Galaxy fans. The brand hasn’t properly justified the significant delay behind the One UI 7 rollout. They have only said that One UI 7 is a significant upgrade, and the development took more than two years. We all know Samsung is capable of implementing major changes within a shorter time frame. Well, we don’t know the exact reason, but Samsung does, and I firmly believe the brand should address the delay and give valid reasons to justify it. One UI 7 update release timeline

After a long wait, Samsung released the One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25 series in January. Everyone was expecting the rollout to begin with the S25 series launch, but it has been a waiting game so far. The brand still hasn’t updated a single Galaxy device to One UI 7. Even the Galaxy S24 series, which started getting One UI 7 beta in early December, is waiting for a stable update.

Besides a significant delay, Galaxy fans are angry at Samsung for not releasing the One UI 7 release timeline. However, it appeared in a recent leak. It doesn’t take long to realize that many Galaxy devices are missing from the list. This includes several Galaxy A-series models and the entire Galaxy M series, Galaxy Tab series, and Galaxy F series. They will also get the update sometime within the first half of 2025.

The leaked timeline published above seems to be in line with recent leaks. However, I recommend taking it with a pinch of salt.

What’s new in One UI 7?

Design and UI changes:

• Now Bar: It’s a pill-shaped UI element that appears at the bottom of the lock screen and provides quick access to ongoing activities, such as music playback, timers, and navigation updates.
• New app icons: Almost all stock apps have received an upgrade to their icons, which offer a more colorful appearance. They look better and are easier to recognize.
• Widgets: The widgets now have a bolder look and a more vibrant color palette, making them visually appealing and consistent across the interface. One UI 7 lets you freely place the widgets on the home screen, and there are new interactive widgets as well.
• Revamped Camera app: The Camera app gets a needed makeover, making it less cluttered and more intuitive. The newer layout has fewer on-screen options and easier zoom controls.
• New charging animations: The newer charging animations look cool and enhance the visual experience. When the device is locked and plugged in, One UI 7 uses the Now Bar to display the charging status and battery level with a unique green progress bar. When the device is unlocked, plugging in the charger causes the battery icon to turn green and show a “Charging” text animation.
• Smoother animations: The animations are way better than before, making opening apps, switching apps, and even navigating the UI a smoother experience.

Customizations:

• Vertical app drawer: Yes, it’s finally here. You can now enjoy a vertical app drawer in One UI 7.
• Home screen: It’s much more customizable than before, with the ability to create free-form layouts. The Home Up integration into One UI Home removes the need for a separate app. You can also add stickers on the home screen.
• Lock screen: New clock styles with customizable fonts, colors, and sizes make the lock screen more personalized. Users can change the clock location and add more widgets. The “Suggest” option generates new background styles based on the current wallpaper.
• Quick Settings: The notifications and quick settings panel are now separated. Swiping down from the top left opens notifications, and swiping down from the top right opens the Quick Settings panel. You can revert the changes anytime. One UI 7 brings more freedom to customize the Quick Settings panel.

Galaxy AI features:

• Writing Assist: now works across the UI. You can select texts anywhere on your Samsung Galaxy and improve them on the go.
• Call transcriptions: The feature can automatically transcribe recorded calls in up to 20 languages. So, you don’t have to take manual notes during calls or listen to the entire recording for a specific detail.
• Now Brief: It uses on-device AI to present relevant information based on time and user habits. It uses a “Personal Data Engine” that requires extensive on-device processing. Samsung hinted that this feature might not come to older Galaxy devices (read more about it here).
• Audio eraser for videos: This tool improves the audio quality of videos by removing unwanted background sounds, which improves the overall listening experience.
• Object eraser for videos: The object eraser video now also works for videos in One UI 7. It allows users to select and remove unwanted objects from video frames.

Samsung has packed this update with impressive upgrades, fresh visuals, and powerful new features that are making me — and millions of other Galaxy users — impatient for the rollout.

From smarter navigation to deeper customization, One UI 7 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting updates yet. Here are the five best features that make this upgrade impossible to ignore.

Five features that make One UI 7 a game-changing update

1. Now Bar makes the lock screen smarter

One UI 7 introduces Now Bar, the biggest visual upgrade to the newest software. It’s a pill-shared UI element at the bottom of the lock screen, providing quick access to ongoing activities, such as music playback, timers, and navigation updates. Tapping on it expands with more details and additional controls.

This is an entirely different take on Apple’s Dynamic Island, while other brands have just copied Apple’s feature without many changes. This also shows why Samsung is ahead of other Android brands in terms of software. Now Bar not only looks visually stunning but also boosts productivity by letting users access important information without unlocking their device. 

2. Vertical app drawer for faster navigation

Samsung has finally introduced a vertical app drawer, a long-awaited feature that makes scrolling through apps much smoother and faster. Instead of swiping through multiple pages, you can now scroll in a single motion, with a sidebar that lets you jump directly to specific letters to find apps even faster.

If you prefer the old layout, don’t worry — you can switch back anytime. But with how intuitive and effortless this new system feels, I doubt many will want to.

To enable the vertical app drawer, open the app drawer, tap the three-dots icon sitting in the bottom right corner, tap Sort. Now, choose Alphabetical order to enable vertical scrolling.

3. Revamped Quick Settings panel for easier access

The Quick Settings panel is getting a major overhaul with One UI 7, making it more intuitive and visually refined. The Quick Settings and the notifications panels are separated, and how you access them depends on which side of the device you swipe from: swiping down from the left side opens the notification panel and swiping down from the right side opens Quick Settings. This is similar to what many Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and Realme are already offering, but there’s more to Quick Settings on One UI 7.

The new Quick Settings panel looks more visually appealing and is easier to navigate. The number of toggles has been reduced, though you can easily expand them by swiping downwards. There’s also a new volume slider and shortcuts for switching sound profile and enabling dark mode.

Overall, the new Quick Settings panel looks a lot more refined and makes accessing controls faster and more convenient.

4. Next-level customizations for a personal touch

Customization has always been a key pillar of One UI, and that’s getting a lot better with One UI 7. The Home Up module (previously part of the Good Lock app) is now built into One UI Home, so users no longer need a separate app to access advanced home screen customization options.

You can arrange apps freely, breaking away from grid layouts. You can also add stickers to the home screen for a more personalized look.

There are also several new widgets, with the ability to preview different formats before adding them to the home screen. One UI 7 also allows combining multiple widgets into a single widget space for better home screen organization and reduced clutter.

The lock screen is now more customizable than ever. One UI 7 adds newer clock styles with customizable fonts and colors. Users can also change the clock location and add more widgets. The two shortcut icons at the bottom can now be customized, thus making the lock screen more personalized and usable.

5. A super clean Camera app

The Camera app in One UI 7 looks less cluttered and provides easier access to controls. The top menu now has fewer options, while the remaining controls are hidden inside an expandable button. 

The camera modes have moved below the shutter button, making it easier to switch between photo, video, and other modes. Another essential addition is a zoom slider in the Pro Video mode.

Samsung has also added an “Audio playback” feature that lets users record videos while playing music in the background. This could be particularly useful for creating dance or lip-sync videos.

Not even a single device has been updated to One UI 7, despite announcing the beta program in early December. Samsung hasn’t even announced a release timeline, making users clueless about the release date. Now we know when our Galaxy devices might get the stable One UI 7 update, thanks to a new leak.

Twitter/X user Buliga Cristian (@BuligaDavidCri1) has shared screenshots that reveal the One UI 7 rollout timeline. He claims that this information was being shared by Samsung Romania during a Zoom meeting for the Galaxy S25 series workshop. The details are believed to have originated from Samsung Korea.

The list has many missing devices, including several Galaxy A-series models. The Galaxy M series, Tab series, and F series models are entirely missing from the list. While the above One UI 7 rollout timeline seems to be in line with recent leaks, you should still take the information with a pinch of salt.

If the timeline is correct, the Galaxy S24 users will have to wait for almost two more months to get the stable One UI 7.0 update. The latest foldables, Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6, will get the update around the same time. The wait for a stable One UI 7 rollout has stretched too much, as Samsung is yet to upgrade a single Galaxy device to the latest software. However, now it seems the patience is about to pay off, at least for the Galaxy S24 series users, as the stable rollout might kick off anytime soon.

The One UI 7 beta testing for the Galaxy S24 series started in early December 2024, which has been stretched by Samsung beyond the patience level of many Galaxy fans, including myself. That’s why I recently wrote an article on how this massive delay could make people lose trust in Samsung’s software update policy.

Last week, the S24 series received its fourth One UI 7 beta after nearly one and a half months of releasing the third beta. This was too disappointing, but then a Samsung Community moderator from the One UI beta team announced that the stable version will be released very soon. A day after the fourth beta, the fifth beta went live, suggesting the stable release is almost here.

While we’re still waiting for an official announcement, reports say the stable version will be released sometime in March. This aligns with Samsung’s earlier promise of releasing the stable update to Galaxy S series devices in the first quarter. With that in mind, Galaxy S24 users should start making preparations for a smooth upgrade to One UI 7.

One UI 7 preparations for the Galaxy S24 series

1. Backup your data

Software updates rarely cause data loss, but why take the risk? Use Samsung’s Temporary cloud backup to store everything safely online for free (up to 100GB per file, available for 30 days). Go to Settings > Device care > Maintenance mode > Temporary cloud backup to get started. You can also use a Smart Switch or a USB cable to back up to a PC.

2. Update apps and software

Samsung updates its apps for One UI 7 compatibility, so make sure everything is up to date. Check Galaxy Store and Play Store for app updates. Also, make sure that you have the latest software available for your device by navigating to Settings > Software updates > Download and install to ensure your device is running the latest version.

3. Free up storage space

One UI 7 will be a big download, so make sure your Galaxy device has at least 5-10GB of free internal storage. This will also help your device run better overall.

4. Charge your phone

A major update like this can take time. Hence, it’s recommended to keep the battery level above 30% to avoid issues during the installation.

5. Wait and watch (if you want)

Even stable updates can have bugs. If you want to play it safe, check forums like Samsung Community and Reddit to see if others report issues before upgrading.

However, the stable rollout has been disappointing so far. The brand hasn’t even announced a release timeline, leaving users in the dark as to when they can expect the stable update on their Galaxy devices.

If you’re eagerly waiting for the One UI 7 update, you’re not alone. With every new One UI version, Samsung typically follows a pattern that includes rolling out beta updates for recent flagship models and then pushing the stable version in a month or two. However, this time, the uncertainty is frustrating many users. Here, we’ll break down Samsung’s software rollout plan and look at the possible rollout timeline for One UI 7.

Samsung One UI 7 release timeline

Samsung hasn’t updated a single Galaxy device to stable One UI 7 so far, which is disappointing and surprising, considering that many other brands, such as OnePlus and Nothing, are wrapping up their Android 15 rollout. The brand hasn’t even announced a release timeline yet, but it has been reportedly delaying the stable rollout multiple times.

However, we saw some good signs recently, hinting at an imminent release. Last week, Samsung released the fourth One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy S24 series. Soon after that, a Samsung Community moderator from the One UI beta team revealed that One UI 7 stable version will be released very soon without revealing the exact date, and the very next day, the Galaxy S24 models received their fifth beta update. This suggests Samsung may be planning to release the stable version anytime soon, at least for the Galaxy S24 series.

According to recent reports, Samsung might start rolling out the One UI 7 update to the Galaxy S series and Z series in March, and it might expand it to remaining Galaxy devices in the second quarter of 2025. So, the possible One UI 7 timeline looks like this:

• March 2025: Galaxy S series, Galaxy Z series
• Q2 2025: Galaxy A series, Galaxy M series, Galaxy F series, and remaining devices
