Since there are not many Android 8.0 Oreo driven phones in the market, Oreo was not seen in the Android distribution chart by Google. However, it has finally appeared in this month’s Android distribution chart with a percentage of 0.2 percent.

Currently. only the Pixel devices like Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel C along with some Nexus devices like Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus Player have received the Android 8.0 Oreo update. These devices probably account for 0.2 percent of market share for Android Oreo.

Read More: Android 8.0 Oreo Customs ROMs Arrives for Popular Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola Phones & More

Android 8.0 Oreo was introduced on Aug. 22 and even though many smartphone OEMs such as BlackBerry, HTC, Sony, Nokia, Huawei and Motorola have confirmed the list of their devices that will be upgraded to Oreo, none of the smartphones except for Google devices have received the Android 8.0. Google does not consider Android versions that have lower than 0.1 percent distribution. This could be the reason why Oreo was not seen in the Android distribution chart since its launch in August.

With a huge market share of 32 percent, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is the Android version that is widely available on Android devices. It is followed by Android Lollipop that is running on 27.7 percent devices. Compared to last month, the market share of Marshmallow and Lollipop have declined. In th previous month, both carried respective market shares of 32.2 percent and 28.8 percent.

Last year’s Android Nougat is still not available on large number of Android devices as it has a market share of 17.8 percent. The market share of the Android KitKat has been reduced to 14.5 percent whereas Jelly Bean has a market share of 7.6 percent. Older versions such as Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread have respective market shares of 0.6 percent.

The aforementioned data was collected during a one-week period that ended on Oct. 2. These stats show that the market share of Android Nougat is slowly increasing. In the last month, Nougat had a market share of 15.8 percent. As far as Oreo is concerned, its market share is expected to improve by the end of year as many smartphone OEMs will begin the process of rolling out Android O.

Since then, newer phones have been gradually receiving the latest Android version. These days many new smartphones also come preinstalled with Nougat. It was launched to replace the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Fresh Android distribution figures until May 2 have emerged that shows the latest numbers on the basis of all kinds of Android devices like smartphones or tablets that have accessed the Google Play Store in the past seven days.

The latest Android distribution reveals that Android 7.0 Nougat is now running on 6.6 percent Android devices whereas the newer 7.1 Nougat is running on 0.5 percent devices. In other words, 7.1 percent devices are running on Nougat. In the last month, Nougat 7.0 and 7.1 were respectively available on 4.5 percent and 0.4 percent (total 4.9 percent) Android devices. Compared to the stats of the previous month, 45 percent more Android devices are running on Nougat OS.

However, the number is still less compared to Android 6.0 Marshmallow that is running on 31.2 percent Android devices. Still, the Android 5.0 and 5.1 Lollipop is leading the pack with a distribution figure of 32 percent. It seems that user base of Android 6.0 Marshmallow may surpass that of Lollipop by the time the next Android distribution figure arrives in the coming month.

The older Android 4.4 KitKat is running on 18.8 percent of Android smartphones and tablets. Behind it are the different versions of Android Jelly Bean such as 4.1.x, 4.2.x, 4.3 and 4.4 that are now running on 9.1 percent Android devices. The Android Ice Cream Sandwich versions like 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 were found on 0.8 percent devices and the Android Gingerbread editions like 2.3.3 – 2.3.7 are running on 1 percent of devices.

Any edition of Android that has a distribution figure of less than 0.1 percent are unavailable on the list. Hence, the other older Android versions such as Froyo, Éclair, Donut and Cupcake cannot be seen on the list. The original build had released in December 2016 and now Google is prepping of Android O. It is pegged to get unveiled at Google I/O 2017 this month and its final version may become available in third quarter of the year.

If you’d recall very well that the Lenovo ZUK Edge which was announced in December last year was the first Lenovo smartphone to run on the new ZUI 2.5 based on Android Nougat. The company in January announced upgrades for the ZUK Z2, Z2 Pro, as well as the ZUK Z1 to the latest Android Nougat. While the Z2 and Z2 Pro seem to have gotten Android Nougat stable version, the ZUK Z1 only received an open beta version of the update only.

Now, the Snapdragon 801-powered Lenovo ZUK Z1, ZUK’s first flagship smartphone, has started getting the stable version of the Android Nougat-based ZUI 2.5. The new operating system comes with the version number 2.5.406 and the update package volume is a little above 1,000MB. The upgrade brings lots of new features to the interface which includes the ability to lock the phone’s gallery, split screen, screen recording, U-Touch fingerprint function and many others.

What we have today reveals more details and clear things up a bit.

For the Mi Pad 3, the source says Xiaomi will be launching two screen and OS variants. The first one will retain the original 7.9-inch display size like its predecessors but there is no mention of its screen resolution. It will have 4GB of RAM and will have 64GB and 128GB storage variants. The 7.9-inch Mi Pad 3 will come with Android 7.0 Nougat and will be priced at ¥1299 ($188) and ¥1599 ($231) respectively.

The second variant which will be called the Mi Pad 3 Pro will have a 9.7-inch display. Display resolution is unknown for this too but RAM and storage options are the same as the smaller one. It will be powered by an Intel 8750 (probably the Atom x7-Z8750) and will ship with Windows 10 on board. The price for the larger variant will start at ¥1699 ($246).

There are still a lot of unknowns like the processor powering the smaller variant and battery capacities for both. It will also be nice to know if they will both have the same camera sensors. The launch is expected to be on the same date as that of the Mi 6 which was rumored to be in April initially but is now said to have been pushed to May.

Honor has now also confirmed through a tweet that the rollout of the update would begin starting Feb. 11.

It had released the beta edition of Android 7.0 Nougat update for the users of Honor 8 in the U.K. in November 2016, but now the update is confirmed to release by tomorrow. Since it is a global release, the software rollout will be a gradual process which means all the Honor 8 users will not receive the update at the same time.

The rollout of the update would last the entire month and all the Honor 8 users across the world are expected to get the update by the end of February. Since the Honor 8 users in the U.K. were the first ones to get the beta build of Nougat, it is likely that it may be the first country to get the finished update as well. Honor 8 users in the U.S. are also expected to get the update from Feb. 11 as the tweet originates from Honor USA Twitter handle.

The Honor 8 Android 7.0 Nougat also brings along the latest EMUI 5.0 skin that not only responds well but also delivers optimized performance along with improvements to the battery performance. It also carries a neat appeal. The firmware update also installs the new features of Android Nougat such as split-screen multitasking, access to app drawer through home screen and Doze on the Go.

Huawei had disclosed during CES 2017 that the Honor 6X would get an upgrade to Android 7 Nougat and EMUI 5 later in Q2 of this year without fixing a definitive time frame. However, a recent mail sent out by Huawei has revealed that the Honor 6X would soon get the Nougat treatment, specifically in March. If this happens, it would be a lot ahead of the scheduled time frame for the upgrade.

Despite getting the upgrade over a year after Google unveiled its latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS, the Honor 6X would still make it as one of the early birds to get the operating system infused into it. According to Google, as of January 9th, only 0.7% of Android devices were running Nougat. The latest OS onboard the 6X would increase the standing of the mid-ranger which also comes with a dual-lens camera at the rear. The device is presently available for $249 in the US, while it launched with a $149 price tag in China.

Hence, it is likely that the phablet is likely to get the software update soon.

The Redmi Note 3 with 32 GB storage and 3 GB of RAM has appeared on GFXBench. The operating system of the handset is mentioned as Android 7.1.1. This indicates that the Chinese manufacturer is testing the smartphone with the latest Android version. There are no details available on the version of MIUI present on the device.

However, since some of the specs of the smartphone appears to be mentioned incorrectly, the news about Nougat update for Redmi Note 3 should be taken with a pinch of a salt. The GFXBench listing shows that the smartphone features a 5.7-inch full HD display, but it actually features a 5.5-inch screen. The processing speed of hexa-core processor is shown as 2.0 GHz, but in reality its processing speed is 1.8 GHz.

Xiaomi had released the Marshmallow update customized with MIUI 8 skin for Redmi Note 3 users in December 2016. Hence, it is unlikely to release the newer software so soon to Redmi Note 3 users. Moreover, Xiaomi has also released Redmi Note 4 to succeed Redmi Note 3. If the company released Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Redmi Note 3, it is likely that its successor would be also treated with the latest flavor of Android.

In the past, the Xiaomi Mi 4c was spotted on a benchmarking site Android 7.0 Nougat. Some of the other Xiaomi smartphones that are rumored to receive Nougat update soon include Xiaomi Mi 4c, 4i 4s, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s and Mi Mix. However, the Chinese company has not revealed any information on when will it be releasing Nougat update to its device.

Huawei did recently release a time table that shows when it will push upgrades to EMUI 5.0 in China. The time-table shows earlier models like the Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus and others had started receiving upgrades to the beta version since November last year. While the full upgrade should have started rolling from January 6, 2017. Some models like the G9 Plus, Huawei Nova, Honor 6X, Honor Note 8 and M3 tablet would start getting their full upgrades between March and May 2017, according to the schedule.

Huawei recently released a poster on its EMUI Weibo page that announces that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will receive full upgrades to EMUI 5.0 before the Spring Festival which is just few days away. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus have already started receiving beta upgrades since November which is usually for a few beta testers. But with this latest teaser, all owners of the P9 and P9 Plus would get the upgrade pushed to their smartphones before the Spring Festival. The company also hinted those who want to be among the first to get the upgrade can do so directly via the Mobile phone service app which has now been renamed Member Services app.

One of the good news is that Google’s first mobile OS, Android 2.2 Froyo launched in May 2010 is almost extinct, as it is not listed on the chart. What this means is that the maiden Google OS is presently installed in less than 0.1% of devices globally.

Apparently, some persons are still stuck in the past as Google’s earlier second and third gen operating system, Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich still posted 1.0% and 1.1% in the distribution chart. The figures are declining, though, as they were both at 1.2% in December.

Amdroid 5.1 Lolipop still tops the chart with a total of 33.3% on the distribution chart, this is closely followed by Android Marshmallow with 29.6%. Android KitKat comes in at the third position with 22.6%, while Android Jelly Bean completes the top 4 with 11.6%. Google’s latest mobile OS, Android 7.0 Nougat is still at its lowest ebb, with a 0.7% distribution figure four months after it was released. That figure is expected to spike this year anyway, as more and more Android smartphones adopt or get upgrades to Android Nougat.

Leaks have been pouring in non-stop about the new devices said to be about 6 or 7 in total. Today, what we have is a leaked image of the package box of one of the upcoming phones codenamed Nokia 6 and which appears to be a flagship device.

While the specs are in Chinese which hints that this model will probably hit China first, it isn’t difficult to make out the key specs.

First, if you take a look at the top left corner, you will see ”Nokia 6” written there which means that this should probably be the 6th Nokia phone coming out later this year.

The Nokia 6 phone will be launching with Android 7.0 Nougat, so you need not worry about updates. It will support 4G LTE have 4GB of RAM and have 64GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot. The primary camera is a 16MP shooter and there is an 8MP camera in front.

The display of the Nokia 6 is a 5.5-inches 1080p screen and the processor is an unspecified Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. The Nokia 6 phone will also come with Dolby ATMOS.

READ MORE: Nokia Entry-Level Smartphone Specs Leaked

The phone on the pack is black but it’s difficult to make out the features of the phone. The rear of the phone however has a pill shaped housing that contains the camera sensor and LED light. We can’t see any fingerprint scanner, so there is a chance that it is located upfront on the bottom bezel.

Are you excited about the specs of this new Nokia phone? Will you be picking up a unit when it launches later this year? Let’s know what you think in the comment box.

If indeed the company starts upgrading to Android 7.0, it won’t be coming late to the party as the latest Google OS are mostly available on recently launched flagships. Companies like Huawei and Lenovo had already started rolling out Android N to some of their smartphones anyway.

The Lenovo ZUK series seems to be the fastest in terms of pace to get the Android N upgrade. Huawei also launched the Android N on its latest Mate 9 and a good number of its models are already testing the Beta version. The Xiaomi Mi 5 was reported to have gotten an Android 7.0 Beta ROM based on MIUI 8.

According to Xiaomi’s MIUI Operations manager, the Xiaomi 4C, Xiaomi 4S and Xiaomi Note will see the upgrade soon. The teaser is actually a 15 seconds video embedded with a short tweet that reads; “Already hard at work on the latest and greatest.#NeverSettle”.

The teaser could only mean that Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system will soon hit one of the best and cheapest flagship device around, the OnePlus 3. This should be a cheering news for OnePlus 3 owners, considering the slow pace with which it took OnePlus to upgrade last year’s OnePlus 2 to Android Marshmallow. Nonetheless, the CyanogenMod on the OnePlus devices guarantees that updates would always come.

RELATED: OnePlus X Gets Updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

No other information as to when the new Nougat would start hitting OnePlus 3 smartphones yet but the tweet tells us that the team is already at work on it. Hopefully, after the OnePlus 3, the OnePlus 2 and others would also get to taste Google’s latest and even though OnePlus comes to the Android Nougat party late, it is better late than never.

However, Google has finally posted a factory image and OTA for the Nexus 6P which can now be downloaded. The Android 7.0 Nougat software update only started rolling out to some Nexus devices very recently, months after the Android N developer preview build was released. Several complaints were gotten from some who updated their softwares to Android 7.0 Nougat on the Nexus 6P, bordering on performance or battery life issues and in some cases both. This latest September security update hopefully will fix all those.

Google Android 7.0 Nougat brings over 250 new features with it. Some of the new features that Google is highlighting includes the 72 new emojis, as well as new Quick Settings controls. Now you’ll be able to customize these Quick Settings to your liking. Something that manufacturer skins and custom ROMs have long been doing. Nougat will make you more productive as well, with multi-window, Direct Reply and Quick Switch. Some apps have already included support for the Direct Reply API, after all Nougat was in developer preview phase for over 5 months, so developers have had plenty of time to get going with Nougat.

A recent leak has released details of the LG V20 which will launch in September. LG is reportedly sticking to the capable Snapdragon 820 SoC which is a surprise as some other flagships that will be released later this year and will compete with the V20 will feature the slightly more powerful SD 821.

The phone will also feature a 5.5” FHD in-cell screen which is thinner but smaller and lower than the V10 which has a 5.7” 2K screen. It will sport 3/4GB of RAM, with 32GB and 64GB ROM variants, Adreno 530 GPU, and an SD card slot that can take as much as a 256GB card.

LG V10

The cameras have been bumped up to 20MP on the rear from last year’s 16MP and 8MP for selfies compared to last year’s 5MP setup. The company has not revealed if the front facing camera will be a dual setup like it’s predecessor.

The LG V20 will come with USB Type-C and a 4000mAh battery. There should also be Quick Charge 3.0 giving that the V10 has QC 2.0.

RELATED: Xiaomi Will Be The First Chinese Manufacturer To Release SD 821 Flagship

The unique selling point of the phone is that it will launch with Android 7.0 Nougat (confirmed by LG) making it the first OEM to release a phone running Google’s latest iteration of android.

According to reports, the phones will be released based on the Nokia mobile phones brand but from the stable of HMD global Oy. Recall that Helsinki, Finland-based HMD Global Oy announced on 18 May 2016 that it had purchased part of the feature phone business of Microsoft Mobile, the company founded after Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s original mobile phone business in 2014 and that it will in the future develop mobile devices under the Nokia brand.

The two mobile phones have appeared in a leak, both sporting different sizes. There’s a smaller 5.2-inch display model and a larger 5.5-inch model . Both models will use 2K display resolution and will be equipped with Z-Launcher System UI based on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat (Android N), confirming our earlier report that Android based Nokia phones are underway.

On the specs bench, the two phones will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset and will sport an all-metal body and also come equipped with IP68 Waterproof and Dustproof protection, similar to the one on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

It is important to also disclose at this point that previous leaks had revealed that the expected Nokia phone will feature a huge 22.6MP main camera, perhaps this should be for the bigger version and will carry a price tag hovering around 3000 yuan ($500). Currently in the phone market, an SD 820 flagship with 2K display, all-metal body and IP68 waterproof and dustproof technology, carrying a 3,000 yuan price tag will be considered competitively priced.
