Qualcomm will soon launch a new upscaling technology that could potentially boost Android games to 4K 60fps. The company is rolling out the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution which can transform 1080p games to 4K resolutions. It also delivers significant improvement in the frame per second (fps) rate from 30fps to 60fps or more. Mobile games and XR products with the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution will launch later this year.

Even with improvements from the late`st Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 series of SoC, Qualcomm seeks to provide a more exciting experience for Android gamers. The new upscaling technology provides boosts in resolution and performance while also minimizing power usage.

The Snapdragon Game Super Resolution (GSR) will maximize mobile game performance and battery life. It will also be functional in non-Snapgragon 8 Gen 2 smartphones, which is interesting. The upscaling technology is beneficial to the gaming process by allowing a game to run at lower resolutions without sacrificing quality. The approach in the GSR uses a new technique to increase resolution, frame rate, and battery life. The prevalent upscaling tech had been the bilinear interpolation.

The new method uses a single pass spatial upscaling technique optimized for Adreno GPUs, which reduces memory usage, bandwidth latency, and battery usage. Qualcomm has already partnered with some game developers to incorporate GSR into their game titles.

Some of the popular games that will incorporate GSR are Call of Duty, Farming Simulator 23 Mobile, and Jade Dynasty: New Fantasy. There are no indications yet on the smartphones that will be compatible with the GSR based on their chipsets.

Tetris is one of the world’s most iconic games. It is both nostalgic due to its very early conception in the gaming industry and classic, seeing as the series still has a sizeable player base. However, EA (Electronic Arts) is shutting down the service for Tetris’ two mobile ports, namely Tetris and Tetris Blitz.

The announcement for the end of both mobile games was shared on Twitter through Tetris Blitz’s official account. It mentioned both games will be taken down by 21st April 2020. The tweet also arrived with a link for any users with any concerns or grievances regarding this decision from the known gaming publisher, EA.

As of right now, it is unclear if the studio plans to end the Tetris series altogether since its deal with Tetris has expired. Hence, we might not see more from entries in the IP being launched from EA. However, N3TWORK, a game developer, has already signed a multi-year agreement with Tetris last year. This means that the game is not entirely dead and still lives on but under a different developer.

N3TWORK is currently working on a couple of different versions of Tetris for the mobile platform and already has a game available for both Android and iOS, which is available for free. Furthermore, the game which is out now is a remake of the original. Thus, it just has one classic mode with a few different themes, unlike the one from EA with multiple modes and options.

Notably, in-app purchases and microtransactions which EA is infamous for, will not be making an appearance again in N3TWORK’s version of the game but will have users pay $4.99 to remove ads. Lastly, another version of Tetris from N3TWORK plans to bring the 100 player Battle Royale genre to the nostalgic game series in the form of a new game. So, for those that wish to play more than just the classic mode can check out Tetris Royale, which is currently in the Beta program and will be released by June 2020.

Razer Phone is the first Android smartphone which is made for gamers. Its specialties include the presence of a flagship-level hardware and a display that supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The 120 Hz-optimized games list includes games from several genres.

In the fighting games category, we got four titles: Tekken Mobile, Injustice, Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat X. There are three racing games: Gear.Club, Asphalt 8 and Riptide GP: Renegade. RPG/MMORPG and Puzzle/Strategy are the richest lists with Final Fantasy XV: Personal Edition, Space Rangers: Legacy, Vendetta Online, Runescape, Lineage 2: Revolution, Evoland, Middle Earth: Shadow of War in the first list, and Star Vikings, Puzzle Quest 2, Talos Principle, Mini Metro, Hitman Go, Lara Croft Go, Deus Ex Go in the second one. Arcade games for in the Razer Phone list include Pac-Man, Pac-Man Pop!, RC Soccer, Super Samurai Rampage, Chicken Jump and Zen Pinball.

There are two MOBAs: Arena of Valor and Vainglory, and three FPS games: Modern Combat 5, Shadowgun Legends and Hitman Sniper. In the RTS category there are Titanfall Assault, Warhammer 40K: Freeblade, Warfair, World of Thanks: Blitz and Wolrd of Warships, while in the Action-Adventure category we can see KillAllZombies, Meridian, Bug Butcher, Caterzillar and Dash Galactic. Other 120Hz-optimized games for Razer Phones are Minecraft, Sandbox 3D, OK Golf, Dub Dash, Pokemon Go, Chameleon Run and Armajet. The list is full of important titles and they will surely run smoothly, thanks to the Snapdragon 835 SoC and the 8 GB of RAM present on the Razer Phone.

Sony has just launched its newest product, namely a game store called PlayStation Mobile for Android phones. But the game store does not apply to all Android devices. Sony said that the PlayStation Mobile intended for Xperia series and  HTC One series smartphone. And of course the service is also available to owners of PS Vita.

Game store is also already has 20 more paid games that can be downloaded. In addition, Sony also promises that the number of games on the PlayStation Mobile will continue to grow over time.

Some Android devices can use the application PlayStation Mobile include the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc, Xperia S, Xperia Ion, Xperia Acro, Xperia Acro HD, Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, HTC One X, HTC One X +, HTC One S, HTC One V and PlayStation Vita.

And, when the owner of the phone to download a game, then the game will be played up to three different devices. Not close of possible if the device supports PlayStation Mobile will continue to grow in the future. With the requirement to have PlayStation certification.

Currently, this service is only available in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia. Going forward, Sony also plans to expand the coverage area including China and most Aisan region.
