One of the good news is that Google’s first mobile OS, Android 2.2 Froyo launched in May 2010 is almost extinct, as it is not listed on the chart. What this means is that the maiden Google OS is presently installed in less than 0.1% of devices globally.

Apparently, some persons are still stuck in the past as Google’s earlier second and third gen operating system, Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich still posted 1.0% and 1.1% in the distribution chart. The figures are declining, though, as they were both at 1.2% in December.

Amdroid 5.1 Lolipop still tops the chart with a total of 33.3% on the distribution chart, this is closely followed by Android Marshmallow with 29.6%. Android KitKat comes in at the third position with 22.6%, while Android Jelly Bean completes the top 4 with 11.6%. Google’s latest mobile OS, Android 7.0 Nougat is still at its lowest ebb, with a 0.7% distribution figure four months after it was released. That figure is expected to spike this year anyway, as more and more Android smartphones adopt or get upgrades to Android Nougat.

Related to Android statistics charts in the world market for a January 2013 release by Google, the majority of Android devices seem to still rely on the support system for Gingerbread, followed by Ice Cream Sandwich, and then the new Jelly Bean. Statistics chart is based on the latest available data on February 4, 2013.

During the month of January 2013 alone, Android Jelly Bean controlled 13.6% of the world market. This is certainly higher than the growth in December 2012 and the only control 6.7% only. Growth is likely to increase significantly affected due to the increasing number of old versions of android devices that switch or renew support system to a version of Android Jelly Bean instead of Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich.

The majority of Android devices around the world seem to still rely on the support system to Gingerbread. Gingerbread itself successfully controlled approximately 45.6% of the market share of existing and occupied the top position. While Ice Cream Sandwich Android dominate 29% of the world market and position under Gingerbread.

Honeycomb is optimized for tablet market share also declined because only 1.3% are able to master it. This happen because many current Honeycomb devices are switched or updated to Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean.

As for the rest, the Android device in some parts of the world that seems to still run the Donut, Eclair or Froyo.
