That update is about now rolling out to users of the Moto X4 Android One edition, according to a Reddit post.

Earlier, the Lenovo-owned company had promised to roll out the Android Oreo for the Moto X4 Android One edition by the end of this year. Guess users won’t have to wait for too long. Already, some users have started getting the update on their phones with the firmware number OPW28.46-3. The update also comes with the March 1 security patch. As would be recalled, the Moto X4 comes in an Android One version as well as a standard version. The standard version may likely get the update to Android 8.1 soon.

The Moto X4 Android One edition was unveiled for Google’s Project Fi in the US at $399. Notably, it is the first non-Google phone to join Project-Fi network, which was previously exclusive to the Pixel and Nexus devices. At the time of the launch, the company promised that the Moto X4 Android One edition will be “among the first to receive the Android P update.”

Specs wise, the device features a 5.2-inch Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass on top for added protection. The X4 is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The phone comes with a dual camera setup at the back, featuring a 12-megapixel lens and an 8-megapixel lens. There is a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash.

The phone also comes with an IP68 certification, making it water and dust resistant. It runs Android Nougat operating system out-of-the-box and also supports Amazon’s personal assistant Alexa. The phone is fuelled by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. Android Oreo brings onboard some improved features and a few minor performance tweaks.

Earlier this year, the Lenovo-owned company discounted a bunch of its phones. It was then followed by Valentine’s Day deals. Now, the Moto X4 is getting a new price cut to celebrate President’s Day in the US.

The Moto X4 originally launched for $399 in the US, though it comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. This year alone, we have seen it sell for $349 but now you can pick it up for just $299 or $16.67/month. This is $100 off its launch price.

That’s not the cheapest you can get it. There are two versions of the Moto X4 in the US. The one above is the original variant with Amazon Alexa pre-installed. The second variant is an Android One version sold on the Project Fi Network. The latter can be bought for $249 or $10.38 for 24 months. That is $150 off its original list price.

So depending on the one you go for, you can save $100 or $150. The official Moto site says the deal (non-Android one) lasts till March 3. There is no info as to how long the Project Fi variant will remain at that price.

The Moto X4 has a 5.2” 1920 x 1080 display and is powered by the Snapdragon 630 processor. It has dual rear cameras (12MP + 8MP) and a 16MP front facing camera with its own LED flash.

For connectivity you have a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0. It also packs a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, has an IP-68 rating and a 3000mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging.

The rumor has come true as Google has officially announced its first Android One smartphone for the U.S. – the Android One Moto X4.

Android One smartphones that have released in the past have carried modest specs. However, starting with Xiaomi Mi A1 that was unveiled in the previous month, Google aims to launch Android One smartphones with better specs. The Android One Moto X4, a Motorola smartphone, is the first non-Google device that supports its Project Fi network.

Lenovo had launched the Moto X4 smartphone at IFA 2017 tech trade show that was held at the start of this month. Its Android One edition carries identical specifications. However, instead of the customized software from Motorola, the Android One Moto X4 is packed with the purest version of Android. However, it comes with minimum preinstalled apps such as Google Assistant and Google Duo.

Android P Promise, Project Fi Support

Android One Moto X4 is promised to be blessed with Android One before the end of 2017 and it will be one of the first smartphones to receive Android P next year. And with Google Project Fi mobile virtual network, users of the Android One Moto X4 can seamlessly switch between Wi-Fi and cellular networks like Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular depend on network signal strength and speed.

Android One Moto X4 Specifications and Pricing

The smartphone features a 5.2-inch FHD display. It is powered by Snapdragon 630 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. The native storage provided on the handset is 32 GB of storage. It is packed a 3,000mAh battery.

It includes a 12-megapixel + an 8-megapixel dual camera system. It has a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. It features an IP68 certified chassis.

The Android One Moto X4 carries a pricing of $399 in the U.S. and it comes in two color options like Super Black and Sterling Blue. The pre-orders of the smartphone have already started in the country. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on other markets that will be receiving the Android One Moto X4.

In the U.S., users of select Nexus phone can take advantage of the trade-in program to avail the Android One Moto X4 with discounts of up to $165. Buyers who trade-in by Oct. 5 will be also providing $50 Fi credit.

Motorola has also confirmed that it will be soon making the unlocked Moto X4 available in the U.S. However, there is no information available on its pricing. However, it is expected to be priced at $399.
