Now, the company is back again with another survey, which suggests that it could switch back to ColorOS for its smartphones.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-391975" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/realme-OS-Preference-Survey.png?x44794" alt="realme OS Preference Survey" width="1004" height="669" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/realme-OS-Preference-Survey.png 1004w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/realme-OS-Preference-Survey-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/realme-OS-Preference-Survey-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/realme-OS-Preference-Survey-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/realme-OS-Preference-Survey-630x420.png 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1004px) 100vw, 1004px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For those who don’t know, realme started as a sub-brand of OPPO. Hence, the company’s initial smartphones ran ColorOS based on Android. Due to the brand’s huge success, it was soon spun off into an independent brand under Oujia Holdings (OPLUS), which includes </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OPPO/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OPPO</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OnePlus/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OnePlus</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Since then, realme phones have been running </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme-UI/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">realme UI</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, a fork of ColorOS. The first version of this Android skin was released in 2019. Then, in September 2020, the company unveiled </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-11/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Android 11</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">-based </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme-UI-2-0/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">realme UI 2.0</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-342998 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured.jpeg?x44794" alt="realme UI 2.0 Android 11 Logo Featured" width="1200" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured.jpeg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/realme-UI-2.0-Android-11-Logo-Featured-747x420.jpeg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unfortunately, despite being months, the brand is yet to roll out the latest update to most of its devices. Amidst this, ahead of ColorOS 12 (</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-12/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Android 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">) announcement, the company has sent out a </span><a href="https://c.realme.com/in/post-details/1398130341209792512"><span style="font-weight: 400;">survey</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> asking people about their OS preference.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Out of the six questions, four of them are about </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ColorOS/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ColorOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. In fact, the company even asks what should they call the software if they adopt ColorOS once again. One of the two answers is obvious &#8211; ‘ColorOS for realme’, just like ‘</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/24/oneplus-9-pro-watch-china-launch-price/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">ColorOS for OnePlus</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’ in China.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Last year, OPPO </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/14/oppo-coloros-11-all-the-features-you-need-to-know/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">completely revamped its Android skin ColorOS</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Currently, it’s one of the best Android skins in the market. Hence, it makes sense for the sister brands to adopt the same software as all three are now expanding into more markets than ever before.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-342218 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="OPPO ColorOS 11 Logo Featured" width="4000" height="2375" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-768x456.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-1024x608.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-696x413.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-1068x634.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-707x420.jpg 707w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/OPPO-ColorOS-11-Logo-Featured-1920x1140.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></span><span style="font-weight: 400;">This move helps to maintain software builds for a plethora of devices these three brands releases in a year. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> has been doing the same for a long time. </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/POCO/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">POCO</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, despite being an independent brand under the Xiaomi Corporation, their phones run the same </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">MIUI</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> as the Mi-branded handsets.</span></p>
