realme Smart TV Stick launched: 1080p streaming, Android TV 11, and more

Late last year, realme entered the streaming device category with the launch of the realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick. A few months later, the brand has now debuted its second product in the segment at the realme GT2 Pro launch event in India. The latest streaming device by the company is officially called ‘realme Smart TV Stick’. Let’s check out how it differs from the previous model.

realme Smart TV Stick Specifications and Features

The realme Smart TV Stick looks identical to the realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick. But it comes with watered-down features.

The latest streaming stick from realme is limited to 1080p (FHD) streaming at 60fps. For comparison, the original stick can output up to 4K 60fps. Anyway, just like the old model, the new one also has support for HDR10+.

Going by the supported resolution and HDMI 1.4 connector on the new streaming device, we believe that realme is targeting consumers who want to turn their old HD/FHD non-smart televisions into smart.

Further, both the realme-branded streaming sticks are powered by the same chipset. Although the company does not tell the name, it does mention the CPU configuration. This mysterious chip has a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 CPU. However, the latest product has only 1GB RAM compared to 2GB on the older one.

Another notable difference between the two is software. As the name suggests, the original realme TV Stick comes with the Google TV interface on top of Android TV 11 operating system. On other hand, the new model lacks Google TV UI but it does have support for all the popular streaming platforms, Chromecast Built-in, and Google Assistant.

Finally, the new streaming stick comes with a MicroUSB port for power input, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0.

realme Smart TV Stick Price and Availability

The realme Smart TV Stick is priced at ₹2,999 in India. In other words, it is ₹1,000 cheaper than the realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick, which retails at ₹3,999.

The streaming device will go on sale starting at 12 PM on April 13. It can be purchased from realme.com, Flipkart, and partner retail stores across the country.

Infinix X3 Smart TV launch imminent, key features reveled on Flipkart

Infinix is gearing up to launch its new range of smart TVs in the Indian market. The brand currently sells the Infinix X1 smart TVs in the market, and will soon launch the Infinix X3 for Indian customers.

The imminent launch confirmation comes via a landing page on the Indian e-commerce website Flipkart which teases some of the features of the upcoming smart TV. The upcoming TVs are said to come in 32-inch and 40-inch sizes and will likely be priced aggressively considering their predecessors are priced at Rs 12,999 (~$171) for the base 32-inch model and Rs 17,999 (~$237) for the 40-inch unit.

Infinix X3 Smart TV features

Talking about the features, the listing has revealed that the 32-inch model of the Infinix X3 Smart TV will feature an HD resolution. Whereas the 40-inch unit comes with a Full-HD+ resolution. The TVs have up to 400 nits of peak brightness and will support an 85% NTSC color gamut. Both models will also feature a pleasing design as they are being marketed as ultra-slim and true bezel-less frames with a 96 percent body to screen ratio.

The Infinix Smart TVs will have a one-touch in remote Google Assistant support, built-in Chromecast, and Android 11 OS. The TV remote will also feature hotkeys for Netflix, Youtube, and Google Play. For sound, the Smart TVs will feature a 36W quad-speaker that supports Dolby Audio which really makes it shine compared to the current-gen X1 which comes offerings 20W or 24W speaker setups.

OnePlus Y1S TV series launching on Feb 17, features Android TV 11, bezel-less design & more

Earlier this week renders of the upcoming OnePlus TV Y1S series were revealed which are now confirmed to hit the market alongside the launch of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 on February 17, 2022. Now, more information regarding the specs and features of this upcoming TV series have surfaced.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav OnePlus will launch four new smart TV models in their Y1S range. The vanilla Y1S will be offered in two sizes, 32-inch and 43-inch, and will be available online while the Y1S Edge will be sold in offline stores in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes.

OnePlus TV Y1S Specifications

The tipster has stated that the online models will have a 20W speaker setup and the offline model will have a 24W speaker setup. The SmartTVs are expected to come with Dolby Atmos audio support.

The OnePlus smart televisions will run Android TV 11 out of the box. It will have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. In addition to this, the smart TVs will also have dual-band WiFi. They will draw power from a MediaTek MT9216 and come with G31 MP2 for graphics.

But that’s not all as OnePlus recently teased more features of the upcoming smart TV on its Amazon India landing page.

According to the company, the smart TV will feature a bezel-less design and it will be powered by Gamma Engine to deliver smooth frames. The company also confirmed that the TV will have Android TV 11 OS, meaning it will be equipped with features like One-time App Permissions, Auto low Latency mode, Inattentive sleep, and much more. It will also feature seamless integration with other OnePlus ecosystem devices, like the OnePlus TWS earbuds, OnePlus Watch, and OnePlus Smartphones.

The company has confirmed that the OnePlus Y1S series will launch at 7 pm on February 17th, 2022. The brand has yet to reveal the prices of the upcoming smart TVs but according to rumors they are expected to be priced somewhere around Rs.20,000 for the 32-inch Y1S model and Rs. 25,000 for the 43-inch Y1S model.

OnePlus is gearing up to launch new smart TVs in India soon, expanding its existing lineup. A new report has stated that these new TVs will be a part of the Y1S TV series and also revealed some of its key specifications as well.

According to 91Mobiles and known tipster Ishan Agarwal, the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on launching new Y1S smart TVs in two sizes. This includes a 32 inch and 43 inch sizes. In other words, the two new models will also be available for purchase alongside the existing U1S, Y series, and Q1 lineup, which are being sold in India via Amazon, Flipkart, and the company’s official website as well.

Ishan further revealed certain key specifications of the upcoming Y1S TV series. The new OnePlus TVs will run on Android TV 11 OS and will feature Dolby Audio on its 20W speakers. The display will support HDR10+, with its connectivity options include dual band WiFi, which is an upgrade over the 2.4GHz only option on the existing models. Notably, this news is also in line with a previous report that talked about OnePlus launching new TVs in India soon. Xiaomi TV Stick 4K is finally here with Android TV 11, Dolby Vision/Atmos, and more

In mid-2020, two models of the Mi TV Stick leaked before the official announcement. Unfortunately, the higher variant with 4K support did not see a release. Fast forward a year later, the 4K version emerged once again on FCC in September 2021. Almost three months from that, the streaming device now finally goes official with the new ‘Xiaomi’ branding.

Xiaomi TV Stick 4K Specifications and Features

The new Xiaomi TV Stick 4K features the same design as the older Mi TV Stick as both are part of the same lineup and were supposed to launch together last year. Hence, it also comes with the usual minimal Bluetooth-enabled Xiaomi remote control with a built-in microphone for voice control and dedicated hotkeys for Netflix as well as Prime Video.

It is powered by an Amlogic S905Y4 SoC comprising an ARM Cortex-A35 CPU and ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The chipset is paired with 2GB RAM and a meager 8GB storage.

As for software, it runs Android TV 11 with support for leading streaming services, Chromecast Built-in, Google Assistant, Play Store, and more.

Thanks to an upgraded chip, the device is not only capable of playing 4K content but it is compatible with AV1 codec among others. It also has support for Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and DTS HD.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the stick arrives with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, 1 x HDMI, and 1 x MicroUSB. It ships with an HDMI extender cable and a power adapter.

Last but not least, the product measures 106.8 x 29.4 x 15.4mm in dimensions, weighs 42.8g, and comes in a single black color option.

Xiaomi TV Stick 4K Price and Availability

Xiaomi is yet to reveal the price of its new streaming device. If the company plans to continue selling the Mi TV Stick, then the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K should cost a bit more than that.

If the Chinese tech giant intends to replace the older model, then the newer one could retail at the same price as its predecessor. In other words, it could be priced around $60 or lower.

Nvidia might bring Android 11 to its 6-year-old Shield TV

The 2015 Nvidia Shield TV might soon be getting an OS update according to Google Play Console listings.

The listing, first spotted by @AndroidTV_Rumor, shows that Google Play Console currently lists all active models of the Shield TV as supporting Android 11 and the associated SDK version 30. The only model currently not listed with Android 11 support is “darcy,” which is likely an error as the same-generation “sif” does have support; these refer to the 2017 generation of Shield TV. “Foster,” the 2015 Shield TV, is also listed with support.

While this support in the Play Console isn’t clear-cut confirmation of Android 11 coming to the entire Shield TV lineup, It does give a hint of legitimacy to rumors floating around about Shield TV preparing for an Android TV 11 update closed beta program. If this does go through, it will be a gamechanger for Shield TV owners as it currently operates on Android TV 9. While for first-generation Shield TV owners, it will mean 6 years of continuous support by Nvidia.

The update will bring features like one-time app permissions, Google Assistant Searchable Apps, Google Play Instant, Auto Low Latency Mode, Switch Access, an improved Gboard TV, Inattentive Sleep, and many more.

There is currently no information available on the potential Android TV 11 update timeline for the Nvidia Shield TV, but stay tuned as we will be keeping an eye on the situation and cover any notable developments.

Nokia PureBook S14 Laptop running Windows 11 and new UHD & QLED TVs running Android 11 TV announced in India

A handful of new Nokia products have been announced in India and they run the latest software available. First is the new Nokia PureBook S14 laptop which runs Windows 11 out of the box and then there are the 55-inch and 50-inch Nokia UHD and QLED Smart Android TVs that run Android TV 11.

Nokia PureBook S14

The Nokia PureBook S14 has a 14-inch FHD display, an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor with an integrated Intel Iris Xe processor, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. The Windows 11-powered notebook also packs a single USB 3.1 Ge 1 Type-A port, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, an HDMI port, and a microphone+headphone combo jack.

The Nokia notebook is priced at ₹56,990 (~$768) and will be available for purchase on October 3.

Nokia UHD and QLED Smart Android TVs

The new Nokia-branded TVs come in 50 and 55-inch sizes as well as UHD and QLED variants. All four have the same design, run Android 11 TV, have Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, and feature 60W speakers with Sound by JBL + Harman AudioEFX.

The UHD models feature DazzleBrite Displays with Gamma Engine 2.2 for intelligent contrast, color, and saturation while the QLED models have active quantum dots for a wide color gamut. Both the UHD and QLED models have a 60Hz refresh rate.

For connectivity, you have 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, an audio jack, and an analog audio input port on all the TVs. The TVs also have dual-band Wi-Fi. A Realtek chip clocked at 1.1GHz with four cores power the TVs along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage

The 50” UHD model is priced at ₹44,999 (~$606) while the 55” version is ₹49,999 (~$674). The 50” QLED model is ₹49,999 (~$674) while the 55” version has a ₹54,999 (~$741) price tag. The product page says they are made in India and have passed over 50 all-weather quality tests for durability.

All four TVs are listed as coming soon on Flipkart.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi debuted the Redmi-branded smart televisions in India with the launch of the ‘Redmi Smart TV X Series’. Six months later, the company is back again with yet another Redmi television lineup called the ‘Redmi Smart TV Series’. As revealed by the firm last week, this television comes in two sizes – 32-inch and 43-inch.

Redmi Smart TV Series Specifications and Features

The Redmi Smart TV Series is an entry-level smart television lineup from the brand. It comes in two sizes and both the models feature an LED-backlit LCD panel and a plastic build.

The smaller 32-inch version sports an HD-ready screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and 6.5ms response time, while the 43-inch variant flaunts an FHD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 9.5ms response time. Both the panels have a 60Hz refresh rate and a 178° viewing angle.

For audio, both versions use 20W dual speakers with support for Dolby Audio, DTS-HD, and DTS Virtual: X. They don’t feature far-field microphones but do support Google Assistant voice control via the Bluetooth remote control.

The duo is powered by a 64-bit SoC consisting of a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 CPU and ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. This chipset is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.

On the connectivity front, the televisions support dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x HDMI with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and eARC, 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x AV, 1 x Antenna, 1 x earphone (3.5mm), and Ethernet.

Talking about software, they run Android TV 11 operating system with PatchWall 4 content aggregation launcher. This new version of PatchWall with IMDb integration was introduced with the recently launched Xiaomi Mi TV 5X Series.

Other features of the Redmi Smart TV Series include Chromecast Built-in, Play Store, support for almost all the streaming services available in India, Vivid Picture Engine, Mi Home app, Quick Wake, Quick Mute, and Quick Settings Menu.

Last but not least, just like the Redmi Smart TV X series, the Redmi Smart TV Series also ships in an environment-friendly box that can be repurposed to build a bookshelf or something else.

As expected, TCL has officially launched the TCL P725 series of 4K HDR smart TVs in India. The highlights of these new televisions include a detachable camera, Android TV 11, MEMC, and more. Let us take a look at their specifications, price, and availability.

TCL P725 Series Specifications and Features

The newly launched TCL P725 series includes a total of four models. All of them feature the exact same set of specs and only differ in sizes. Hence, based on their requirements, customers can either opt for a 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, or 65-inch variant.

These televisions sport an LED-backlit LCD panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display supports up to 60Hz refresh rate, up to 15ms input lag, MEMC, and micro dimming.
