In the live stream, the company announced a number of new technologies and features that will be arriving on the flagship lineup.</p>
<h4>Paper Tech Master Design</h4>
<p>In the past, the Chinese smartphone brand had worked with Naoto Fukasawa for its &#8220;Master Design.&#8221; Now, Realme announced that it is working with the known Japanese industrial designer again for its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme-gt-2-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GT 2 Pro</a>. The new design is called Paper Tech Master Design, which is inspired by paper and offers a premium minimalist look. Apart from the design, the company even placed a focus on the environmental impacts of the materials as well. The GT 2 Pro will feature the world&#8217;s first bio-based smartphone design, which reduces the carbon footprint during the production process.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-432028 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802.png?x10805" alt="Realme" width="1466" height="731" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802.png 1466w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802-300x150.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802-768x383.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802-1024x511.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802-696x347.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802-1068x533.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163802-842x420.png 842w" sizes="(max-width: 1466px) 100vw, 1466px" /></p>
<h4>World&#8217;s First 150° Ultra Wide Camera</h4>
<p>During the event, Realme also showcased its trend of unveiling new camera technologies with its smartphone offerings. So to continue this tradition, it is launching the GT 2 Pro with the world&#8217;s first 150° ultra wide camera. As the name suggests, this wide angle lens offers users a 150° field of view, which is 278 percent more than typical primary smartphone cameras that have a 84° field of view. Notably, the company has even developed the world&#8217;s first Fisheye Mode on a smartphone that produces an ultra long depth of field effect for more creative photography.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-432029 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843.png?x10805" alt="Realme" width="1628" height="846" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843.png 1628w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843-300x156.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843-768x399.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843-1024x532.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843-696x362.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843-1068x555.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163843-808x420.png 808w" sizes="(max-width: 1628px) 100vw, 1628px" /></p>
<h4>Antenna Array Matrix System</h4>
<p>The brand even unveiled its new Antenna Array Matrix System that will power the connectivity features of the GT 2 Pro. This includes a new Antenna technology, enhancements to WiFi, and a handy 360° NFC connectivity. The new Ultra Wide Band HyperSmart Antenna Switching supports 48 mainstream global brands that makes it compatible in over 150 nations. It even offers a new non-wraparound Antenna technology, which basically offers 12 wraparound antennas instead of just two on the top and the bottom of the device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-432030 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905.png?x10805" alt="" width="1731" height="837" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905.png 1731w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905-300x145.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905-768x371.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905-1024x495.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905-696x337.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905-1068x516.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-20-163905-869x420.png 869w" sizes="(max-width: 1731px) 100vw, 1731px" /></p>
<p>This conventional leads to a &#8220;death grip&#8221; during gaming as users tend to hold their phones from the top and bottom, hindering the signal. So with the additional antennas, gamers get a strong and uninterrupted connection during intense online games. Additionally, its enhanced WiFi allows for a 20 percent improvement in WiFi stability as well, based on WiFi 6 enhanced version. Lastly, it supports 360° NFC technology that makes it more handy in terms of practicality. So now, rather than just using the back of the smartphone where the NFC module is housed, users can simply use NFC by just bringing their device closer from any angle for a proper connection.</p>

The company unveiled CableFree, which is a new antenna design for its 5G base stations.</p>
<p>The new development has improved various aspects regarding the 5G base station antennas. Its radiation efficiency, integration, and power capacity have been upgraded, marking a new stage of antenna technology standards as the world shifts into the 5G era. With the broader adoption of the newer and faster bandwidth, the latest network standard also saw an increase in bands and other internal complexities. Thus, the new antenna technology is better suited to take on the &#8220;vast challenges&#8221; it may face.</p>
<figure id="attachment_318424" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-318424" style="width: 467px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-318424" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Screenshot-260.png?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="467" height="627" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Screenshot-260.png 668w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Screenshot-260-223x300.png 223w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Screenshot-260-313x420.png 313w" sizes="(max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-318424" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei&#8217;s 5G base station on Mount Everest</figcaption></figure>
<p>Briefly touching up on a few of the key implications, CableFree will have an overall improvement in 5G network coverage. This is crucial since one of 5G&#8217;s major flaw is its much narrower network cover over previous generations. With the introduction of high frequency bands in 5G, antenna gains are required to be increased for wider coverage. This is where the new technology helps, with CableFree arriving with a 20 percent higher radiation efficiency.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/25/huawei-mate-40-pro-to-debut-with-the-5nm-kirin-1000-soc-not-the-kirin-1020-rumor/">Huawei Mate 40 Pro to debut with the 5nm Kirin 1000 SoC, not the Kirin 1020: Rumor</a></strong></h6>
<p>The power capacity of the new antenna design brings a significant jump of 80 percent, which is necessary due to the higher power output of 5G networking. Notably, CableFree also seeks to trim down physical aspects as well, with a six-band antenna being 10kgs lighter. The new breakthrough also arrives with an improved PIM (passive intermodulation) performance.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-219843 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/5g-infrastructure.jpg?x10805" alt="5G" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/5g-infrastructure.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/5g-infrastructure-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>In layman&#8217;s terms, it basically means better interaction between two different mechanical components, which translates to lesser joints, screws, and soldering that should make the design of the new antennas much more streamlined than current standards. Thus, the new improvements would prove to be a boon in the new 5G world, although its implications have yet to be seen in real life.</p>

The document showing the patent filing was unravelled recently and it contained sketches of the designs, all showing a full-screen device with the antenna band placed on different locations on the various sketches.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/samsung-patent.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-159687" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/samsung-patent.png?x10805" alt="Samsung patent" width="652" height="465" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/samsung-patent.png 652w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/samsung-patent-300x214.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 652px) 100vw, 652px" /></a></p>
<p>The designs may not be for the Galaxy S9 as Samsung is known for patenting designs that may not necessarily be used in the near future. But the patents shows that Samsung may be thinking of changing the antenna placements on its smartphones going forward. This isn&#8217;t the first time we&#8217;re seeing such antenna designs but then, Samsung may have devised a way to deal with issues associated with some of the placements. The iPhone 4, for instance, was known for its &#8220;antennagate&#8221; issue whereby there were reported issues of dropped calls and network connections as a result of the design of the model&#8217;s antenna.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/samsung-frame-based-antenna-patent-1-800x492/'><img width="300" height="185" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Samsung-Frame-Based-Antenna-Patent-1-800x492-300x185.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-medium size-medium" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Samsung-Frame-Based-Antenna-Patent-1-800x492-300x185.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Samsung-Frame-Based-Antenna-Patent-1-800x492-768x472.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Samsung-Frame-Based-Antenna-Patent-1-800x492.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a>

<p>The patent&#8217;s sketches also reveal a full-screen design on the phone just as we expect on the Galaxy S9. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are rumoured to sport a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Infinity Display, respectively with a screen-to-body ratio of up to 90%.  The screen ratio doesn&#8217;t leave a lot of room for the antenna. So, it makes sense to speculate Samsung is taking a look at its options for the Galaxy S9 antenna band before the final design. The 2018 flagship is also expected to pack a Snapdragon 845 processor and a pressure-sensitive Home button.</p>

According to an internal source, the Chinese market might be getting a Snapdragon version too.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The source says Xiaomi is planning to release a new <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-4/">Redmi Note 4</a> for the Chinese market that will feature a Snapdragon 625 SoC. That just sounds like the international variant will be available in China, right? Actually there is more to it than just the chip. Apart from the new processor, the phone will also be getting a new antenna design and will use a new manufacturing process which is less expensive.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106414" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/xiaomi-redmi-note-4.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi redmi note 4" width="719" height="405" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/xiaomi-redmi-note-4.jpg 719w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 719px) 100vw, 719px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The cheaper manufacturing process means the new Redmi Note 4 may be priced less, falling between the range of ¥900 &#8211; ¥1300 (~$131 &#8211; $189).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The news of a newer model isn&#8217;t much of a surprise. If you remember, when the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/12/15/xiaomi-redmi-note-3-review-the-best-budget-smartphone-redefined/">Redmi Note 3</a> was released back in November of 2015, it launched with a Helio X10 chip. Fast forward to February 2016, Xiaomi released a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/01/14/xiaomi-redmi-note-3-now-comes-snapdragon-850-variant-costs-just-151/">Snapdragon 650 variant</a> and later stopped production of the Mediatek model. Chances are that the Helio X20 Redmi Note 4 will face the same fate. The Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 3 not only came with a better processor but also featured SD card support and an upgraded camera.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><span style="color: #ff0000">READ MORE:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2017/01/29/coral-blue-xiaomi-mi-note-2-coming-soon/">Coral Blue Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Coming Soon?</a><span id="more-116752"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">If Xiaomi continues this tradition, some folks might decide to rather wait for a few months for the Snapdragon variant instead of rushing to buy the Mediatek model.</p>

One of the rumors says that the phone will be the first phone in the P-series flagship line to have its fingerprint scanner in front. It appears that might be true, that is if the leaked image below purported to be that of the Huawei P10 is genuine.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-112778 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Huawei-P10.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei P10" width="610" height="374" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Huawei-P10.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Huawei-P10-300x184.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The front of the device shares a striking resemblance to the Huawei P9. The  front camera, sensor, and speaker are positioned exactly the same way. The only difference is the groove in front which we believe to be an under-glass scanner seeing as it looks very much like the one on the Xiaomi Mi 5.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-100599 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Huawei-P9.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei P9" width="800" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Huawei-P9.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Huawei-P9-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Huawei-P9-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Huawei-P9-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Another thing we&#8217;ve noticed is that the display is flat, lacking the curves we reported it is expected to feature. That doesn&#8217;t mean the P10 might still not have a curved display. It might just end up on another variant, probably the Huawei P10 Plus.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><span style="color: #ff0000">READ MORE:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/12/23/latest-huawei-mate-9-system-update-10x-optical-zoom/">Huawei Mate 9 System Update Adds 10x Optical Zoom</a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The rear of the phone shows a dual-camera setup, LED flash, and a laser focus module. Huawei&#8217;s signature branding is missing and there is a single U-like antenna design at the base.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Do you like the look of the Huawei P10? We bet it would look nicer in black seeing as the side bezels look pretty thin.</p>

<p>A new leak has revealed that the phone will also have a new antenna design allowing it to achieve an ultra-thin body made of 98.8% metal with a thickness of just 6.58mm.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The leak also adds that the screen of the OPPO R9s will be covered with Gorilla Glass 5 which hopefully someone is going to put to test just like they did with the Galaxy Note 7.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Other details mentioned include a Snapdragon 625 processor, a 3010mAh battery, VOOC fast charging, and an IMX398 camera with a large aperture of f/1.7 protected with sapphire glass.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-101925" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/d8a9a520eaebe72.png_600x600.png?x10805" alt="d8a9a520eaebe72-png_600x600" width="600" height="1067" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/d8a9a520eaebe72.png_600x600.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/d8a9a520eaebe72.png_600x600-169x300.png 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/d8a9a520eaebe72.png_600x600-576x1024.png 576w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">In addition to that is the mention of OPPO launching a roaming service similar to what Samsung offers with their S Roaming service and Xiaomi&#8217;s Mi SIM and Mi Roaming which lets you access the internet without a SIM card.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">To cap it, we also get to see the GeekBench results of the upcoming phone. The OPPO R9s scores 848 on the single-core test and 3121 points for multi-core. The benchmarking site reveals that the phone is running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow clocked at 2.0 GHz and has 4GB RAM.</p>
