Apex Legends Mobile brought in $4.8 million in user spending in just the first week

Respawn Entertainment had just launched the highly anticipated Apex Legends Mobile a couple of days ago. And it seems like that game is already a success since it brought in 4.8 million US Dollars in user spending within this short period of time.

For those unaware, the mobile port of Apex Legends is the Android/iOS version of the popular PC title. It is a battle royale style game with unique characters that have different abilities. This game was first released back on 17th May 2022, while its Beta had been live for sometime now in limited regions. But just a week after its launch, the mobile game generated 4.8 million US Dollars in just a week with most of the revenue coming from in game purchases for cosmetic items like weapons, legends skins, Battle Pass, and more.

Notably, we had also previously reported on Apex Legends Mobile becoming the most downloaded game in more than 60 countries as well. The latest news arrives from known analytics based firm Sensor Tower who shared the estimate of the player spending in the game. It also offered the breakdown of player expenditure based on the region, with the US ranking first as users spent 2.1 million US Dollars in the game, accounting for 44 percent of total revenue.

This was followed by Japan and Thailand. This marks an impressive milestone by Respawn Entertainment, since its rival PUGB Mobile only brought in around 600,000 US Dollars in the first week of its release back in 2018. Although, both of these figures are dwarfed by COD: Mobile, which brought in a whopping 14.8 million US Dollars in its first week.

Just a while ago, Respawn Entertainment had finally launched its mobile port of Apex Legends. The new smartphone game had been in beta for sometime now, but it was finally released to the global market. And now, it appears to be a big hit in multiple markets.

For those unaware, Apex Legends Mobile, similar to its PC counterpart, is a battle royale title that features unique characters with distinct abilities. During its initial pre-registrations, the game saw more than 15 million players signing up. Following its full release, the game has seen explosive success across the globe. It even became the most downloaded game on the App Store in more than 60 countries.

As of right now, the Apex Legends Mobile is now the most downloaded game in multiple regions like the UK, India, Germany, the UK, Japan, and other nations. Furthermore, the title has even managed to quickly become one of the top 10 most downloaded iPhone games in over 89 countries. In India, the game became the top free game on the App Store, overtaking Battlegrounds Mobile India (PUBG Mobile remake for the Indian market).

Apex Legends is one of the most popular multiplayer games in the market and also one of the largest IP in the battle royale genre as well. So it arrives as no surprise that the mobile version of the game is also exploding in popularity right now.

Apex Legends Mobile global launch date finally announced

Apex Legends Mobile has been in development and going through various early builds for a while now. But at last, the global launch date for the mobile port of the popular battle royale game has finally been announced.

The mobile version of Apex Legends will be launching globally on 17th May 2022. It will be releasing on both the iOS and Android platforms. For those unaware, Apex Legends is one of the most popular multiplayer shooter titles in the video game industry and features a battle royale format for its main game mode. Following the success of PUBG and its mobile port, the studio behind Apex also decided to launch a mobile port.

While the game was already available in certain regions for sometime, its official global release date wasn’t announced up until recently. So from May 17, the mobile game will finally be available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. As of right now, the new port is one of the most highly anticipated titles and has already seen great success in the regions that it was already available in.

But now, Apex Legends Mobile will be available for the broader audience now, which also means we can expect to soon see a professional league announcement as well. The game has been developed by Respawn Entertainment, who is also behind the Titanfall series. Although, it wasn’t alone and partnered up with the Chinese publisher Tencent as well, which already has a lot of experience in the mobile gaming development and its market

Apex Legends Mobile pre-registration open, 2022 global launch confirmed

Last month, the popular PC and console battle royale title Apex legends was launched for mobile devices in select regions. Now, the game has been made available for pre-registration globally on Google Play Store.

EA and Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that the game will be available globally in 2022. The game remains mostly similar to its PC/console counterpart however, it has been built from scratch for mobile devices and therefore has some changes in gameplay like a shift from first person to third-person perspective by default.

If you are interested in the game, you can head over to Apex Legends Mobile’s page on the Google Play Store and tap the pre-register button to become one of the first players to have access to the game when it officially releases globally.

Respawn has also revealed the system requirements to play Apex Legends Mobile. While the game is still in development, it is being optimized to run on various different devices. But, the game will not run on iOS devices that have less than 2GB of RAM and Android devices with less than 3GB of RAM.

Although, certain 2GB RAM models will be supported for a few brands like Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, Lenovo, and Xiaomi.

For those unaware, Apex Legends Mobile offers a gameplay that is identical to its PC counterpart, similar to PUBG and PUBG Mobile. So, players team up with two other players and dive into the map with a zone that shortens overtime. Unlike PUBG, the battle royal has just 60 players in total over 100 people in PUBG. Furthermore, its mechanics encourages firefights to help boost your armor, to add more diversity over luck-based looting. Another major aspect is its different characters that arrive with different active and passives abilities as well.

When considering popular mobile shooter games available presently, Fortnite, PUBG and Call of Duty are among the top three most popular ones. EA’s Apex Legends is as popular as the trio but the issue is that it is not available on mobile. That may change soon as EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson is reported to have disclosed during a conference call that the company has deliberated on having the popular battle royale game get a soft launch by the end of the year.

The Apex Legends is a popular game which was meant to give EA an entry point into the lucrative battle royale gaming market. However, the popularity of the game has diminished for a while now, perhaps due to the unavailability of a mobile version. The fortunes of the game may experience some change when it becomes available to the billions of mobile gamers worldwide.

The game may not become available to gamers worldwide this year, though, as a soft launch means only some markets will get the new game on mobile. The company did not reveal the region that’s will become available by the year’s end but we expect the rollout to be expanded by the early part of 2021.

The mobile game scene has turned out to be a very lucrative one. The industry has also experienced some upsurge due to the COVID 19 lockdown and other restrictions. Data released by Sensor Tower showed that Tencent’s PUBG emerged as the top-grossing mobile game in May 2020 with an estimated revenue of $226 million USD. It is no surprise EA is planning to get on board with its own battle royale game which shares the same plot with the PUBG Mobile. That is, you jump from an aircraft, search for weapons and other loot and try to remain the last one standing.
