<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>is expected to equip its next generation of flagship smartphones with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/exynos-2400-chipset/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Exynos 2400 SoC</a>. The chipset is the company&#8217;s latest high end processor, and now, a tipster is claiming that it could surpass the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-15-pro-max/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone 15 Pro Max</a>&#8216;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a17-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple A17 Pro</a> chip.</p>

<h2>Samsung Exynos 2400&#8217;s GPU may be faster than the Apple A17 Pro</h2>

<p>The information arrives from known tipster <em><a href="https://twitter.com/Tech_Reve/status/1735200373378576537?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1735200373378576537%7Ctwgr%5E69b21dbe7514b62a9c572f34b16510611ab95e2f%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thetechoutlook.com%2Fnews%2Ftechnology%2Fsamsungs-exynos-2400-chipset-is-tipped-to-surpass-gpu-performance-of-apple-a17-pro%2F" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Revegnus </a></em>on X (formerly Twitter). In the tweet, a short summary of the Exynos 2400 SoC was shared. Here, he stated that the upcoming Samsung chipset features a GPU that was co-designed with AMD, which is capable of outperforming the GPU performance of the Apple A17 Pro. To recall, the A17 Pro is the 3nm chipset that powers the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which managed to score over 590,000 points in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/19/iphone-15-pro-max-antutu-score/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AnTuTu benchmarking platform</a>&#8216;s graphics test thanks to its 6-core GPU.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-Exynos-2400-System-on-Chip.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-572982" width="793" height="529" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-Exynos-2400-System-on-Chip.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-Exynos-2400-System-on-Chip-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-Exynos-2400-System-on-Chip-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-Exynos-2400-System-on-Chip-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-Exynos-2400-System-on-Chip-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 793px) 100vw, 793px" /></figure></div>

<p>In other words, the Exynos 2400 could potentially surpass this score. Revegnus further adds that the Exynos 2400 will be based on Samsung&#8217;s enhanced 4nm process and not the 3nm process. The company is sticking to the 4nm node over increased yields and improved performance as it has more &#8220;expertise&#8221; in this process. The Exynos 2400 will also have the first application of FOWLP, which basically implies reduced chip thickness and improved heat dissipation.</p>

<p>During the recent SLSI Tech Day event, Samsung unveiled certain key details regarding the upcoming Exynos 2400. The brand claims that the processor will offer 70 percent faster CPU performance along with 14.7 times faster AI processing speeds when compared to the Exynos 2200. For those unaware, the Galaxy S24 lineup will launch in both the Exynos and Qualcomm Snapdragon variants. So depending on the market, buyers receive the Exynos 2400 variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 version of the smartphones. In related news, the Exynos 2400 was recently spotted on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/27/samsung-galaxy-s24-exynos-2400-geekbench/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GeekBench</a>, running on the Galaxy S24+ model. </p>

<p>Let’s break it down.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-1024x576.png?x44794" alt="Apple A17 Pro vs A16 Bionic Chipset" class="wp-image-568043" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-Chipset.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>A17 Pro vs A16 Bionic Chipset Comparison</strong></h2>

<h2>Manufacturing Process</h2>

<p><strong>A17 Pro:</strong> The standout feature of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/a17-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A17 Pro</a> is the industry’s first 3-nanometer chip built on TSMC’s latest 3nm fabrication process. This nanometric reduction from its predecessor means the chip can fit more transistors in the same space, resulting in improved performance and energy efficiency. To be precise, the A17 Pro houses approximately 19 billion transistors.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="577" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-1024x577.png?x44794" alt="Apple-A17-Pro" class="wp-image-568032" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-1024x577.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-768x433.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-1536x865.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-1068x602.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-1920x1082.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-745x420.png 745w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro.png 1924w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p><strong>A16 Bionic:</strong> The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/a16-bionic/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A16 Bionic</a>, which works on a 4nm process and has around 16 billion transistors, was quite impressive in its time. However, with its 3nm process, the A17 Pro represents a major step ahead.</p>

<h2>Raw Performance</h2>

<p><strong>CPU Cores:</strong> Both chips feature a 6-core CPU. However, architectural enhancements in the A17 Pro deliver what Apple describes as “the fastest single-threaded performance in any smartphone.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="630" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-1024x630.webp?x44794" alt="Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-CPU" class="wp-image-568037" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-1024x630.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-300x185.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-768x472.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-696x428.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-1068x657.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-683x420.webp 683w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2-356x220.webp 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Apple-A17-Pro-vs-A16-Bionic-2.webp 1252w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Geekbench Insights:</strong> Benchmarks indicate a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/14/apple-iphone-15-pro-series-a17-pro-vs-a16-bionic/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">substantial performance</a> boost for the A17 Pro. The single-core performance on Geekbench shows an improvement of around 16%, and the multi-core performance jumps by approximately 13% compared to the A16.</p>
