<p>Apple is making a splash in the computer market with its M series processors. The company is determined to become the market leader, and they are showing no signs of slowing down. At their recent WWDC 2023 event, tech giant introduced the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/05/apple-launches-15-inch-macbook-air/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">15-inch MacBook Air</a> and new Mac models with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/14/apple-mac-pro-m2-ultra-benchmark/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">M2 Ultra processor</a>. Now, Apple is reportedly developing a larger iMac with a display over 30-Inch. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>New 30-Inch iMac Could Fill Void in Apple&#8217;s Mac Lineup</strong></h2>

<p>The iMac is one of the most iconic computer models of all time. Its all-in-one design and aesthetic appeal have made it a favorite among users for years. In 2021, Apple updated the iMac with the M1 processor, making it much more powerful. The design was also overhauled. However, the company took a step back in one aspect &#8211; the screen size.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1024x683.jpeg?x44794" alt="2021 iMac" class="wp-image-547515" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-2048x1365.jpeg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1068x712.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1920x1280.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-630x420.jpeg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Apple used to make fairly large iMacs with a 27-inch screen. However, in 2021, the company released new models with a 24-inch screen. This change, combined with a thick bezel and a low screen-to-body ratio, sparked criticism from some users. The criticism was that the smaller screen size and thick bezel made the new iMacs look outdated. Some users also felt that the smaller screen size was not enough for their needs. It seems that Apple listened to these criticisms and decided to make some changes.</p>

<p>According to the Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a new iMac with a display over <strong>30-Inch</strong>. This would be the largest iMac ever made, and it would fill a void in Apple&#8217;s lineup since the company discontinued the 27-inch iMac and iMac Pro in 2021. If the new iMac does happen to be released, it&#8217;s likely to be at least a year or two away. Gurman says that it&#8217;s still &#8220;further out,&#8221; which suggests that it&#8217;s not yet in the early stages of development. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple iMac" class="wp-image-547514" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/apple-larger-imac-30-inch-display-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Gurman also expects the 24-inch iMac to be updated with the as-yet-unannounced M3 chip by early next year. However, it&#8217;s important to note that all of these is just a rumor at this point, and there&#8217;s no guarantee that the new iMac or M3 processor will actually be released. </p>

Now, the company is expected to update the iMac Pro model sometime next year.</p>
<p>Recently, it was reported that the upcoming iMac Pro will feature a Mini-LED display along with an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-silicon">Apple Silicon</a> processor. Now, a new report coming from <em>DigiTimes</em> (<a href="https://9to5mac.com/2021/12/21/digitimes-backs-up-new-27-inch-imac-pro-with-miniled-display/">via <em>9to5Mac</em></a>) also claims that the new iMac coming next year will feature a Mini-LED screen.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-385392 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac.jpg?x44794" alt="The new iMac" width="836" height="456" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac.jpg 836w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-300x164.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-768x419.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-696x380.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-new-iMac-770x420.jpg 770w" sizes="(max-width: 836px) 100vw, 836px" /></p>
<p>The report also claims that Apple&#8217;s suppliers have already started shipping <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/components">components</a> in small volumes for the new 27-inch iMac series models. While the launch date is not yet confirmed, it is said to go official sometime in Spring.</p>
<p>Last week, it was revealed that the device will feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miniled">MiniLED screen</a> and have support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/120hz">120Hz variable refresh rate</a> and Oxide backplanes. This will also mark the introduction of Pro Motion display technology to the iMac lineup.</p>
<p>Further, the device is expected to have a starting configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage, just like the recently launched MacBook Pro lineup. Further, users will likely get an option to choose between <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/18/apple-announces-m1-pro-and-m1-max-chips-and-new-macbook-pro-with-notches/">M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets</a>.</p>
<p>Apple has a few other devices lined up with a Mini-LED display, including new iPad models but if the recent reports are to be believed, then the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-ipad">iPad</a> with Mini-LED screen is expected to go official in a couple of years and not anytime soon.</p>

The new Apple iMac, according to display analyst Ross Young, will feature ProMotion mini-LED display, similar to what we have in the freshly-released MacBook Pros laptops.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020.jpeg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-335581" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020.jpeg?x44794" alt="New Apple 27-inch iMac" width="960" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020.jpeg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iMac-27inch-2020-630x420.jpeg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></a></p>
<p>Apple has had an impressive debut for the MacBook Pro, which offers a 14-inch and 16-inch display. The company is carrying out a silent transition from Intel to ARM CPUs, and the trend implies that the new CPUs will also be extended to the 27-inch iMac Pro, the Mac mini, and the Mac Pro laptops. The 27-inch iMac, as per the tweet by Ross Young, will also come with a 120Hz display refresh rate, and it could well be Apple’s all-in-one offering in the high-end segment as per screen sizes.</p>
<p>There are still some loose details about the new iMac which seems to be a revamped version of the discontinued iMac Pro. It will also offer some improvements from the current models or at least make it at par with key aspects of current models. The 27-inch iMac may be powered by the M1 Max chipset, with Apple making progress in the development of improved versions of these models.</p>
<p>It is unclear how authentic the projection by the display analyst on the iMac. However, he has had a decent record of correct predictions over time. Apple has continued to grapple with the unauthorized release of its trade secrets by its employees or third parties. It had put some stringent measures to track and deter tipsters from dealing with such secrets, but this has not stopped the issue. It, therefore, remains to be seen whether the projection by Ross Young is a big hit or miss by Q1 2022.</p>
