With this, the company has updated the laptop which was last refreshed a couple of years ago.</p>
<p>The new Apple MacBook Air comes powered by the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/06/07/apple-m2-chip-announced/">M2 chip</a> and continues to have a fanless design. Instead of the regular 13.3-inch display, the laptop comes with a new 13.6-inch display with up to 500 nits of brightness.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-464335 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple MacBook Air 2022" width="1960" height="1306" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022.jpg 1960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-1536x1023.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-1920x1279.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1960px) 100vw, 1960px" /></p>
<p>The screen is said to be 25 percent brighter than its predecessor and it comes with support for 1 billion colors. As for the design, the device looks quite similar to the 14-inch and 16-inch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-macbook-pro">MacBook Pro</a> models of last year.</p>
<p>Powered by the new M2 processor, Apple claims that the Final Cut Pro performance is nearly 40 percent faster than on the M1 Air and Photoshop is up to 20 percent faster.</p>
<p>There are two Thunderbolt ports on the left side, along with a headphone jack with support for high-impedance headphones. It also has added support for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/magsafe">MagSafe connector</a> for charging. However, it still misses out on some of the ports, such as HDMI and SD Card reader, among others.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-464336 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features.png?x44794" alt="Apple MacBook Air 2022 Features" width="3298" height="1814" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features.png 3298w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-300x165.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-1024x563.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-768x422.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-1536x845.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-2048x1126.png 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-696x383.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-1068x587.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-1920x1056.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Apple-MacBook-Air-2022-Features-764x420.png 764w" sizes="(max-width: 3298px) 100vw, 3298px" /></p>
<p>It also comes with an updated 1080p camera along with four speakers and three microphones. Apple said that there&#8217;s also support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dolby">Dolby</a> Atmos spatial audio. The Magic Keyboard now has<span style="font-family: Verdana, BlinkMacSystemFont, -apple-system, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif"> a full row of function keys with Touch ID and Force Touch trackpad.</span></p>
<p>The laptop measures just 11.3 millimeters thick and weighs 2.7 pounds (1.2 kilograms). As for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/battery">battery life</a>, the company is promising up to 18 hours of video playback and with an optional 67-watt power adapter it can charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes.</p>
<p>The new Apple MacBook Air comes in four color options &#8212; Silver, Space Gray, Midnight, and Starlight. It will be available for purchase from next month with a starting price of $1,199.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421095 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple" width="1536" height="886" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ-768x443.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ-1024x591.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ-696x401.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ-1068x616.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W7X0AQ-JYZ-728x420.jpg 728w" sizes="(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px" /></p>
<p>The new renders were shared by <a href="https://twitter.com/jon_prosser/status/1451963374724653056" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Jon Prosser</em></a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/RendersbyIan" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Ian Zelbo</em></a> that also added that the new MacBook Air will apparently be arriving sometime in early 2022. Furthermore, the Cueprtino based giant is reportedly planning on including the new notched display design to its cheaper laptop model as well. As of right now, this notched display can be found in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/18/apple-announces-m1-pro-and-m1-max-chips-and-new-macbook-pro-with-notches/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16</a> that were launched recently.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421097 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple" width="1536" height="886" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a-768x443.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a-1024x591.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a-696x401.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a-1068x616.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_W9X0Ag9-4a-728x420.jpg 728w" sizes="(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px" /></p>
<p>Furthermore, the leak showcased that the company will also be adopting white bezels for the MacBook Air, which is a color that has not been seen since the 2010s MacBooks that adopted a polycarbonate build. Despite having narrow bezels on the sides, the chin is still quite noticeable. Prosser and Zelbo added that the MacBook Air will feature MagSafe 3 support as well as dual Thunderbolt 4 and a 3,5mm audio jack for ports.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421096 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple" width="1536" height="886" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K-300x173.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K-768x443.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K-1024x591.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K-696x401.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K-1068x616.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/FCZo_XDWQAYyR0K-728x420.jpg 728w" sizes="(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px" /></p>
<p>Although, the leaked design showcase an almost impossibly thin design that looks barely wide enough for an audio jack. In other words, we can also expect the laptop not featuring a full sized keyboard either. Zelbo claims to have seen a prototype model, which is what the renders are based on. Under the hood, the new <a href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=2ahUKEwij8taBj-XzAhVJ4jgGHX53DaoQFnoECAwQAQ&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gizmochina.com%2F2021%2F10%2F23%2Fmacbook-air-2022-may-be-the-first-to-feature-an-m2-chip%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw0zxWHng_nuzavTi4LUusKs" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacBook Air features is expected to feature the Apple M2 chipset</a> and will likely arrive in multiple color variants as well.</p>

It is also being claimed that Apple is planning to cleverly hide the notch from marketing materials.</p>
<p>Now, the same leaker who revealed information about the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-macbook-pro">MacBook Pro 2021</a> display notch, is claiming that the Apple MacBook Air 2022 models, set to launch early next year, will also come with a notch on top of the screen, <a href="https://www.macrumors.com/2021/10/17/macbook-air-2022-notch-design/">reports <em>MacRumors</em></a>.</p>
<figure id="attachment_389025" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-389025" style="width: 1920px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-389025 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6.jpg?x44794" alt="Apple MacBook Air 2022 Render" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MacBook-Air-2021-renders-6-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-389025" class="wp-caption-text">Apple MacBook Air 2022 Render</figcaption></figure>
<p>He further claims that the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-macbook-air">MacBook Air‌</a> will &#8220;look much better&#8221; as the company is planning to eliminate the current wedge design. For those who are unaware, the wedge design refers to the MacBook Air body that transitions from thicker at the back to thinner at the front. He says that the next ‌MacBook Air‌ will have a &#8220;very round and light&#8221; design.</p>
<p>Other reports related to the upcoming MacBook Air models indicate that the technology giant is planning to launch a thinner and lighter version of the machine with thinner bezels than what we have in the current model.</p>
<p>As for the notch on top of the display, unlike the iPhone, this is not for housing sensors for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/face-id">Face ID</a> functionality. It is said that the notch will house a new 1080p webcam, an ambient light sensor, and an indicator light.</p>
<p>A recent report claims that the next-generation MacBook Air will come with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mini-led">Mini-LED display</a> with thinner top and bottom edges. It is also being claimed that the laptop will come powered by the next-gen Apple M2 chipset and have a MagSafe branded magnetic power cable for the new charging port.</p>
