According to his most recent claim, the “Hey Siri” command may be phased out.

Apple is reportedly planning to drop the “Hey Siri” trigger phrase. The change would allow users to invoke Siri hands-free by simply saying “Siri,” without the need to say the wake word first. The change is reportedly part of a larger effort by Apple to improve Siri’s accuracy and responsiveness. The company has been working on ways to make Siri more natural and user-friendly, and this change would be a significant step in that direction.

Gurman said in his post that he revealed the situation:

“The company is working on an initiative to drop the “Hey in the trigger phrase so that a user only needs to say “Siri”—along with a command. While that might seem like a small change, making the switch is a technical challenge that requires a significant amount of AI training and underlying engineering work. The complexity involves Siri being able to understand the singular phrase “Siri” in multiple different accents and dialects. Having two words — “Hey Siri” — increases the likelihood of the system properly picking up the signal.”

Apple has finally updated its Apple events page. Captioned as “Spring Loaded”, the event is said to take place on April 20 at 10:00 AM PDT (01:00 AM Beijing Time / 10:30 PM IST). If you have an iPhone/iPad product, you can witness the AR version of the multi-colored logo as well.

After a lot of misquoted dates, Apple’s Siri assistant itself has revealed the date of the next launch event. While Apple hasn’t confirmed it yet, the next Apple event is said to be on April 20 as per Siri.

Just like users reporting on Twitter and MacRumors reports, I tried asking Siri, “Hey Siri, Apple event”. It replied that a Special event is on next Tuesday, i.e, April 20. Apple recently confirmed that it’s WWDC 2021 will be online and begin on June 7.

While one might expect the same for this event, Siri says that the event will be hosted at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. That said, it doesn’t confirm it as an in-person event and considering the situation, we can expect Apple to stream a pre-recorded video on social media channels like YouTube.

Also, Siri didn’t say anything about the products/announcements that are going to be unveiled at the event. However, we have seen various reports in the past and they suggest that Apple will bring the iPad Pro 2021, Apple TV 2021, and long-rumored AirTags.

There are also rumors about the new iMacs and Macbooks but we aren’t sure if they would see the light on that day.

Talking about the iPad Pro models, Apple is said to bring 11-inch and 12.9inch iPad Pro models. Out of this, the 12.9-inch is said to feature a mini-LED display. Other expected specs include A14X chipset, Thunderbolt connection via USB-C, and more.

As for the Apple TV 2021, it is expected to bring upgrades like HDMI 2.1 port, support for 120Hz refresh rate content, powerful GPU and higher RAM capacity, and more.

A new research on Artificial Intelligence has shown that U.S tech giant Google is on top on their game when it comes to the AI market. Google’s AI was compared with those of co-travellers in the AI market like Apple, Baidu, and Microsoft but they all fail to match the brainpower displayed by Google’s AI.  The report interestingly shows that Google’s AI is almost at the same level as the level of intelligent a normal six-year-old child would display.

The study seems to have been conducted last with Google’s AI having an IQ score of 47.28 points. This is just some figures lower than the IQ of a 6-year-old child whose IQ score is 55.5 points. Interestingly, Google’s AI intelligent qotient was just 26.5 points back in 2014, meaning that the score nearly doubled in a span of only three years. Google is closely followed by Chinese web services company Baidu’s AI with 32.92 points. Baidu is one of the largest internet companies and one of the top class AI leaders in the world, so this feat isn’t so surprising. Apple’s Siri is not even in the top 3 spots as Microsoft’s Bing AI scored 31.98 points to occupy the third spot ahead of Siri which sits at the fourth spot with 23.94 points. 

The analysis is based on considerations such as their amount of available data, usefulness, and ability to synthesize information. The ranking also considers the form that the AI is intended to be used. All the AI considered are cloud-based, so they cannot achieve a high ranking based on the size of information available to them alone. Their ability to demonstrate understanding, critical thinking, learning, and synthesis affects how well they will rank which affects their weight in the total IQ score.

Google recently unveiled its latest smart home products including the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. One major thing that was consistent during the announcement was the improved AI capabilities of the smartphones. This is an indication that the AI could score higher when a test is conducted this year.
