Apple Watch has saved a life once again thanks to its advanced sensors. This time around, the brand’s smartwatch managed to help save a man from Ohio who suffered from a stroke. So here’s what went down and how the Apple Watch played a key role.

The Cupertino based giant’s smartwatch packs a wide range of sensors and advanced health related trackers that have saved many lives in the past, like when it made an SOS call to save a US student from CO poisoning. But now, Derick Gant credits his Apple Watch for saving his life after he suffered from a stroke. He was exercising outdoors when the stroke hit, causing him to experience a fall.

Thankfully, Gant was wearing his Apple Watch, which managed to detect the fall and offered to call emergency services. While Derick initially brushed off the fall, he couldn’t feel his legs or arms after a few minutes. This prompted him to reach out for help. After a short wait, paramedics came to treat him. But the Apple Watch not only managed to detect the fall, it also automatically sent out alerts of the incident to Gant’s emergency contacts.

Derick, a 57 year old man, managed to make a full recovery within a year, but thanked his Apple Watch after the entire ordeal. The stroke was caused by his pre-existing medical conditions, which impacted the oxygen delivery to his brain. In a similar incident, a senior citizen was also saved by the fall detection feature in the UK.

If the watch detects a lack of movement for approximately one minute, it will automatically dial emergency services, sharing the user’s location with emergency contacts.

The Apple Watch has already been accredited for helping save many lives over the last couple of years. And just recently, another life was possibly saved after the smartwatch helped a female identify a potentially life threatening health issue.

The story this time is about a 29 year old Kimmie Watkins from Ohio, US. She recently talked about her ordeal and shared how the Cupertino based giant’s Watch helped save her life. Kimmie said that she had been feeling lightheaded and tired quite often but couldn’t pinpoint the actual reason. She decided to simply sleep it off, thinking it was just caused by her skipping meals. On the other hand, the Apple Watch remained vigilant and mapped her heartbeat throughout her nap.

After around 90 minutes, she was awoken to an alert which notified her that her heartbeat had been too high for an extended period of time. In other words, there was something wrong with her. The Watch tracked a heart rate spike of up to 178 beats per minute, which is quite high for someone at rest and not in the middle of an intense physical activity. Following this warning, Watkins sought medical help and the doctors revealed that she had a saddle pulmonary embolism (SPE).

Simply put, its a medical condition that is said to have a fatality rate of 50 percent and is basically a blood clot. According to Dr. Richard Becker, a cardiologist at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine, this was the “most severe and life threatening of all because it’s a blood clot that saddles both the blood vessel to the right lung and to the left lung.” Watkins is currently under treatment and is on the road to recovery. Back in October 2022, Apple Watch had helped save a 12 year old girl from cancer, and earlier this year, a man was saved a from a potentially life threatening internal bleeding as well.

It appears that the Apple Watch is still helping save lives. This time around, the smartwatch helped in detecting cancer in a 12 year old girl, which helped in saving her life in time. So here are all of the details.

According to a new report, a 12 year old girl named Imani Miles had her life saved by the Cupertino based giant’s smart wearable product. She noticed that her Apple Watch was constantly notifying her about her abnormally high heart rate. So after she received several alerts, the girl’s mother Jessica Kitchen felt that something was strange and possibly dangerous. So she took Imani Miles to the hospital for a check up. Here, Imani went through surgery for her appendicitis, but this wasn’t the end of her worries.

The doctors treating the girl found that her appendix had a neuroendocrine tumor. This tumor is rare to find in a person this young, but the medical experts discovered that the tumor had migrated into the other parts of Imani’s body. So, the doctors quickly rushed her into surgery that was necessary to remove cancer from her body. Fortunately, the surgery went well and Imani recovered from the surgery.

Her mother stated that if it weren’t for the Apple Watch she would likely have gone to the hospital much later. By this time, the cancer could’ve had worse impacts on the girl and possibly even been fatal. This isn’t the first time the device has saved lives and we can definitely expect more people to be saved by this piece of modern day technology in the future as well.

There have been several stories of the lifesaving capability of the Apple Watch, especially in the United States and Europe. Yet another story has now been logged for the Apple Watch – and it happened in India. The incident which was related to a dentist drew appreciation from the man’s family, as well as an exciting and rare response from Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Cook responded by expressing his happiness that the couple sought clinical evaluation and received the desired care. He also thanked them for sharing their story with Apple.

Apple Watch series seems to have cast its place in stone as a reliable lifesaver going by the numerous stories of how the device has saved numerous lives. A new Apple advert has captured the real-life audio calls made by distressed Apple Watch 7 users at three separate instances that led to their eventual rescue from possible death.

The 60-second TV ad begins with the sound of a 911 operator asking a woman what was her emergency. The woman, Amanda replies that she has had a car accident and her car is flipped with water entering into the vehicle and she cannot get out. The second audio recording involved a paddle boarder being pushed to sea due to very strong headwinds. The third audio involves a farmer who fell into a 21-foot hole, leading to a fracture in his leg and being unable to call anyone else for help. The three persons were all wearing an Apple Watch 7 on their wrists.

Remarkably, each of the three distressed Apple Watch 7 users got help early enough to save their lives from a certain calamitous end. With the swift response of the emergency services at these locations, all three of them were saved. Although it seems rather too simplistic to adduce their survival only to the Apple Watch 7, it is, without doubt, an important link in their rescue.

Apple Watch saves the life of a US man who fell into an icy river

If we are to compile a list of persons who give credit to the Apple Watch series for saving their lives at one point or the other, we’ll discover that it is a number already. The list keeps growing by the day as yet another story has emerged.

According to the story which was first reported by local news outlet WMUR, the man named William Rogers, a tech school teacher had gone ice skating on Sunday on Salmon Falls River in Somersworth. This is something he has been doing all his life but on that day, tragedy struck as the ice broke under his weight and he fell into the ice-cold river.

When he realized he was going into the river, Rogers disclosed that he scrambled around for some time in an attempt to come out of the ice but the ice kept breaking and couldn’t support his weight. At that point, all he could think of was his family getting a call about his demise.

Of course, a couple of minutes more inside the ice would have killed him. But at that point, he realized he had to stay calm and think of possible ways out of the situation. That was when it occurred to him to use his Apple Watch to call for help even as he was already struggling to breathe inside the cold water. He dialed 911 using the SOS feature on the watch.

“It worked. Saved my life, I think,” an ecstatic Rogers said. Rogers told the emergency responders that he probably had 10 minutes before he stopped responding. fortunately for him, the fire brigade arrived in five and he was pulled out of the water to safety.

Apple Watch series is presently the top-selling smartwatch around with over 100 million user base to date and the reasons for this aren’t far-fetched.
