<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/verizon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Verizon</a> has started rolling out the latest April 2023 security patch for Google&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-5/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-4a/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 4a</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-4a-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 4a 5G</a>. While users of these devices have not yet reported receiving the update, Verizon has posted the build numbers on its website, indicating that the rollout has begun. However, the support pages for other Pixel devices such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-7/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 7</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 6</a> series still show the older March 2023 security patches.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="388" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Pixel_7.webp?x10805" alt="Pixel 7" class="wp-image-527903" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Pixel_7.webp 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Pixel_7-300x169.webp 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure></div>

<p>Google&#8217;s monthly security patches for its Pixel series are usually released on the first Monday of the month alongside the monthly Android Security Bulletin. However, for the second month in a row, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google</a> has missed its self-set release schedule for Pixel security patches. Last month&#8217;s March 2023 patches were delivered two weeks later alongside the Pixel feature drop, and even then, the Pixel 6 series received its update after another week.</p>

<p>Despite Google&#8217;s silence on the reasons for the delay, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> has been prompt in delivering updates to its flagships, with the April 2023 security patch for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/01/samsung-galaxy-s23-plus-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S23 series</a> already live and rolling out to users. This delay in delivering the security patch is likely to disappoint users who purchased a Pixel on the premise of quick software updates.</p>

<p>However, there was a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/28/pixel-5-early-april-security-update/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">surprise report last week</a> about a Pixel 5 user in Canada on Freedom receiving the April patch before March had ended. While this may have been an isolated incident, it provides some hope that the security patches could arrive sooner than expected for other users.</p>

<p>Overall, it is important for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google</a> to inform its users about the reasons for the delay in delivering the security patch and provide a realistic timeline for release. This will help alleviate concerns and maintain the trust of its user base, who value timely and reliable software updates.</p>

Google releases security patches for its operating system every month and, as the Mi A1 has Android One installed, its operating system is supported directly by Google. This is why the device will always receive faster updates over all other Xiaomi devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-181031" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/a1.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi a1" width="1000" height="633" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/a1.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/a1-300x190.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/a1-768x486.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></p>
<p>The new update for Xiaomi Mi A1 weighs 440 MB and, besides the April security patch, it brings several other changes. According to the changelog, there are generic improvements in performances and several bug fixes. At the moment, the Mi A1 is the only Xiaomi device with Android One and it is also one of the best smartphones in terms of quality-price ratio.</p>
