Sharp has recently launched the Aquos S3 Mini in China and Zhongsheng Luo, the Global CEO of Sharp and InFocus Mobiles has today confirmed through his Weibo account that Sharp will be launching the Aquos S3 on March 28 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is the very same handset that was expected to launch in January this year. The handset has already been certified by regulatory bodies like Taiwan’s NCC and China’s TENAA.

Sharp is one of the first companies to launch full screen design smartphones. The Aquos S3 will be arriving as a successor phone for the Aquos S2 smartphone that was launched last year in August. The S2 was launched as the world’s smallest 5.5-inch mobile phone.

According to Luo, the upcoming Aquos S3 will be arriving as the world’s smallest 6-inch smartphone. He added that the S3 is also the world’s first notch-enabled full-screen phone using TF COF technology. The handset will be deliver a stunning screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. After getting announced on March 28, the handset will be also debut in Taiwan on April 1.

The above shown launch invitation of the Sharp Aquos S3 shows that the handset will be equipped with a notch like the iPhone X. The leaked photos of the Aquos S3 that have appeared in the past have already revealed that it will be also equipped with vertically arranged dual rear cameras.

The TENAA listing of the smartphone has revealed that it will be arriving with 5.99-inch display. Because of the notch, it may support an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 would be powering the phone. The 64 GB and 128 GB storage models of the phone may respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. For photography, it will be equipped with 13-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual rear cameras and a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. The handset will be running on Android Nougat OS and it will be arriving with a 3,100mAh battery.

Sharp had unveiled the Aquos S2 smartphone in August 2017. It appears that the company will be soon announcing the Aquos S3 as its successor phone as it has been certified by NCC, Taiwan’s certification body.

The original Aquos S2 features 5.5-inch display that offers an aspect ratio of 17:9. It is driven by Snapdragon 630 chipset and 3,020mAh battery. It comes in 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage models.

The above image that has surfaced through NCC certification shows that the Aquos S3 has a model number of FS8032. It also reveals that it is equipped with a vertically dual camera and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. This handset has also appeared on Geekbench benchmarking site with specs like Snapdragon 630 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. In single-core test, it has scored 880 and in multi-core test, it has scored 4237.

In the previous month, the Sharp FS8015 had received TENAA certification in China. Not only he specs, but also the images of the phone had surfaced on TENAA. The design of the back panel shown above and the rear appearance of the FS8015 are same. This indicates that the FS8015 could be the upcoming Sharp Aquos S3.

According to the TENAA listing, the handset features a 5.99-inch display that produces 18:9 aspect ratio. It features either Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 chipset. It will be also coming in models like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is packed with a 3,100mAh battery. For photography, it features 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual camera setup on its back panel whereas it is equipped with a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel.

There is no confirmation on the launch date of the Sharp Aquos S3. It is speculated that the Japanese firm would be debuting the smartphone later this month.

The recently launched Sharp Aquos S2 has met with amazing response in China and now the Japanese company seems to be working on a variant of the same phone. The Sharp FS8008 that has a similar appearance like the Aquos S2 has been certified by China’s TENAA regulatory body. The specs of the FS8008 that has been revealed by TENAA suggests that it will be quite similar to the Aquos S2.

One major difference that can be seen through the images of Sharp FS8008 made available through the TENAA listing is that it does not feature a bezel-less design like the Aquos S2. Moreover, it does not seem to feature a metal unibody design as its body appears to be made up of plastic. Like the Aquos S2, it also features a vertically aligned dual rear cameras at the top-left corner of the back panel.

The Sharp logo is present not only on the backside of the phone but also below the display. The chin of the phone features two capacitive buttons. The fingerprint scanner may be embedded under the Home button. The right edge of the Sharp FS8008 features the Power button as well as the volume controllers. The TENAA documents show only the white variant of the smartphone. However, the Japanese firm is likely to introduce it in multiple colors like the Aquos S2. It measures 141.8 x 72.04 x 7.9mm and its weight is 145 grams.

According to the TENAA listing of the Sharp FS8008, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch display that produces a resolution of 2,040 x 1,080 pixels. It is driven by an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.2 GHz which suggests this smartphone could be powered by Snapdragon 630 or 660 chipset. It is expected to arrive in two models. The 64 GB Sharp FS8008 may feature 4 GB of RAM whereas the other model with 128 GB of storage may come with 6 GB of RAM. Both models also feature a microSD card slot.

A pair of 12-megapxiel camera sensors are available on the rear side of the Sharp FS8008. The frontside will be featuring an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It will arrive preinstalled with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and a 2,390mAh battery will be present to keep the lights on. There is no information on the launch of the Sharp FS8008. However, since it has been certified by TENAA, it should not take much time to get official.

The Japanese company seems to be working on another smartphone that will feature a bezel-less display. Leaked renders showing the front and rear sides of the mysterious Sharp Aquos smartphone have surfaced on Weibo.

The bottom bezel of the mysterious Sharp smartphone has a Aquos branding and the same bezel features a selfie camera. The appearance of the device is not very different from the recently released Sharp Aquos S2. It boasts a high screen-to-body ratio as it features a full-screen display.

The right edge of the mysterious Aquos phone has a Power key and there seems to be a dedicated camera key. The left side of the mysterious has a SIM card tray and buttons for controlling volume. The backside of the smartphone has a single camera coupled with dual-LED flash. The smartphone seems to be having a metallic frame.

The fingerprint scanner of the phone is not visible which suggests that it may come with an iris scanner. There is a possibility that it may feature an in-screen fingerprint reader. The appearance of the smartphone suggests that it could be a concept render created by a fan.

Since the smartphone appears to be thick, it is likely to feature a huge battery. The text present on the display of the smartphone suggests that this mysterious Sharp Aquos phone may get unveiled on Sept. 30.

In related news, Sharp Aquos S2 has met with amazing market response in China through its first sale on Aug. 14 as all the units were sold out within 24 hours. It will again go on sale in China on Aug. 18.

The Sharp Aquos S2 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage is priced at 2,499 Yuan (~$374) on JD.com. There is an international edition of the same variant that is priced at 3,299 Yuan (~$493). The other model featuring 6 GB of RAM and 128 G of storage costs 3,799 Yuan (~$568).

It features a 5.5-inch IGZO display from Sharp that offers a resolution of 1,080 x 2,040 pixels and supports an aspect ratio of 17:9. It is available in Snapdragon 630 and 660 chipset options. It has a 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual rear camera system and a 3,020mAh battery.
