Taiwanese tech company ASUS has unveiled the ROG Phone 3 in Taiwan. This is coming just a day after the smartphone was launched for the European and Indian market. China gets only the 12GB RAM and 16GB RAM variants. Interestingly, the device comes in at a cheaper price than what it will be sold for in India and the EU.

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 will be available in three versions; Extreme Edition, Classic Edition and Elite Edition. As for the prices, the

• Extreme Edition: 12GB+512GB – 6999 yuan (~$999), 16GB+512GB – 7999 yuan (~$1,142)
• Classic version: 12GB+128GB – 4299 yuan ($613), 12GB+256GB – 4699 yuan (~$670)
• Elite Edition: 12GB+128GB – 3999 yuan ($570)

The cheapest version which is the Elite edition packs a Snapdragon 865 chipset instead of the SSDM865+. It is available in 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. Comparing the 3999 yuan ($570) price tag to that of India, it is even cheaper than the price of the 8GB + 128GB Snapdragon 865 version which is priced at Rs 49,999 ($668). The base Snapdragon 865 variant in Europe packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage and is priced at €799. The top-end 16GB+512GB variant is also roughly cheaper than the price in Europe by a few Benjamins.

As a reminder, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone sports a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, as well as a refresh rate up to 144 Hz and 270Hz touch sampling rate. The phone also has a LED-lit ROG logo at the rear which lights up during gaming.

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform. The processor offers a 10% increase in GPU and CPU speed. It also brings 5G support to the smartphone with a Snapdragon X52 external 5G modem supporting all the 5G spectrum, including mmWave (SA and NSA).

For photography, the ROG Phone 3 packs a triple camera setup on the back including a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera with f1.8 aperture and 1.6um large pixel size. There is also a 13MP ultrawide sensor and macro camera. For selfies, the notch-less display houses a 24MP sensor. There is a 6000mAh battery under the hood as well as dual stereo speakers.
