After trying to conquer the sector with the Legion Duel phones, Lenovo decided to change strategy and launched the new Y series focused on gaming phones but with a design similar to traditional devices. The latest one is the Lenovo Legion Y70, packing incredible specifications but also focusing on the quality price ratio. Meanwhile, Asus launched the new Asus ROG Phone 6D: essentially a Dimensity Edition of its latest gaming phones series known as ROG Phone 6. Is it better to choose a fully gaming-centric phone or something more affordable and casual like the new Lenovo handset? We think there is no better way to answer this question than a comparison, so here is a comparison between the main specifications of the Lenovo Legion Y70 and the ASUS ROG Phone 6D.

Design

As already mentioned in the intro paragraph, despite being a gaming-centric phone, the Lenovo Legion Y70 has a design similar to traditional phones. So no aggressive aesthetics, no silly LEDs, and no thick borders around the displays: it will be hard for you to distinguish it from normal devices. That is the reason why this device is perfect for those who search for a gaming phone but also need a normal device for daily usage and productivity. But if you are a professional gamer, then you should go for the Asus ROG Phone 6D. Just like all the most advanced gaming phones, it has an aggressive design and it includes an RGB logo on the rear side, as well as pressure sensitive zones you can use as gaming triggers, just like the controller of your favorite console. Further, this device is water resistant with the IPX4 certification and it has a more advanced cooling system.

Display

If you are looking for the best display for gaming out there, then you should go for the Asus ROG Phone 6D without thinking twice. It has an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.78 inches able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution, a 160 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. The Lenovo Legion Y70 comes with a great display too, but it is not able to compete with its rival. It has a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader. The Dimensity 9000+ is the best SoC by Mediatek. It is built at 4 nm and it sports an octa-core architecture composed of the same CPUs, but with different clock frequencies: 3.35 GHz, 3.2 GHz, and 1.8 GHz, respectively, paired with a Mali G710 MC10 GPU. What makes the difference is the cooling system, definitely better on the Asus ROG Phone 6D, while the Lenovo Legion Y70 provides a higher amount of internal storage: up to 512 GB. Both handsets run Android 12 out of the box.

Camera

These devices come with the same rear cameras: they have a 50 MP main sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP depth sensor. But the Lenovo Legion Y70 wins the camera comparison because of an additional element: optical stabilization. For the rest, they should provide a similar photo and video quality.

Battery

An important pro of the Asus ROG Phone 6D over its rival is definitely the battery life: it is equipped with a huge 6000 mAh battery, against just 5100 mAh found on the Lenovo Legion Y70. This means that the battery life of the ROG is way longer on a single charge. The charging speeds are similar, but the Asus features reverse charging.

Price

The starting price of the Lenovo Legion Y70 in the Asian market roughly translates into €440 at the actual change (or $430), while the Asus ROG Phone 6D debuted in the global market with a starting price tag of €1029 or $1008. The Asus ROG 6D wins the comparison.

Asus ROG Phone 6D Ultimate Roundup: Specs, Colors and More

After launching the Asus ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro back in July, the Taiwanese gaming tech giant has made plans to launch 2 more flagship Android gaming smartphones for 2022 – the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate. Both smartphones will be unveiled at the company’s official launch event on September 19th (Monday).

Before the official launch date, many details of the ROG Phone 6D series have already been leaked and teased officially online. In this article today, we have rounded up all you should know about Asus’ upcoming gaming smartphones.

Asus ROG Phone 6D Series Design and Colors

As what we have reported last month, the Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate will feature similar exterior designs to its siblings, the standard ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro, according to leaked official images online.

However, one change is in the color options. Instead of the standard Black and White found on the earlier announced ROG Phone 6 smartphones, the ROG Phone 6D will be available in 2 new colors: Metallic Grey and Matte White.

Adding to the gaming aesthetic, the ROG Phone 6D has a vertical RGB strip on the back that can light up in two different colors at once, while the more premium ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will feature a second display on the back that can be configured with multiple animations and can be used to show notifications or system metrics.

Both the standard ROG Phone 6D and the ROG Phone 6D will feature MediaTek’s latest highest-end Dimensity 9000+ smartphone processor, manufactured on TSMC’s industry-leading 4nm process. Comparing it to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 found on the earlier released ROG Phone 6 series, Asus hints that the new ROG Phone 6D surpasses them in raw performance in benchmarks.

And according to a credible leak recently, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is said to feature Asus’ upcoming cooling solution technology that can help the Dimensity 9000+ push its limits and performance further than the Snapdragon 8+ found on the ROG Phone 6 Pro.

The display will be the fastest display ever featured on a smartphone, as the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate both feature 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panels with a 165Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate, 111% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and HDR10+ support to boot for games.

The battery for both smartphones is said to be 6000 mAh with 65W fast wired charging support via USB-C. The smartphone is also said to feature 2 USB-C ports as well, so you can plug in your charging cable in one port, and your USB-C headphones in another.

Last but not least, the triple camera setup on the Asus ROG Phone 6D series packs a punch despite it being a gaming smartphone. It sports the 50 MP flagship Sony IMX766 sensor as the main rear camera, a 13MP ultrawide snapper, and a 5MP macro camera for the back. On the front, both devices get the 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor for selfies and vlogging.

Asus ROG Phone 6D specs leak ahead of launch – 6.78-inch AMOLED display, 6000mAh battery & more

Asus is gearing up to launch the ROG Phone 6D series on September 19th. The ROG Phone 6D series will come powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity chipset. Ahead of the launch, popular tipster DCS has tipped the key specification of the vanilla ROG Phone 6D.

A Weibo post from the tipster states that just like the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate model, the vanilla 6D model will also be powered by Dimensity 9000+ chipset. The phones will also feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, with an anticipated 165Hz refresh rate.

Other than that, the smartphone is said to have the tried and true 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary sensor, a 6,000mAh battery, and 65W fast charging support.

The brand has also teased a new cooling solution for the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate, which “allows airflow unlike any ROG Phone before”.

The leaked features are expected to be shared by both the Ultimate and vanilla variants of the ROG Phone 6D series. However, it is unclear if the new cooling system will also come to the base model.

After the Asus ROG Phone 6 series launch, the brand is gearing up to debut the ROG Phone 6D series in the global market. The launch is scheduled for September 19th, however, renders and key specs of the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate have already leaked.

Now, the devices have also appeared on Bluetooth SIG certification. The listing reveals that the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will come with model numbers AI2203_D and AI2203_B. The vanilla 6D model on the other hand will have AI2203_A and AI2203_C model numbers. Both devices will feature Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

The listing does not reveal any further information about the upcoming gaming phones. So, let’s take a look at what’s known so far.

Asus has already confirmed that the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will be the first gaming smartphone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset. In comparison to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 equipped ROG Phone 6 Pro, the device’s AnTuTu score of 11,46,594 points is 2-3% higher.

The ROG Phone 6D’s 65W fast charging capacity was disclosed by a 3C listing. Other specifications are expected to remain the same as the non-D models, which means the new smartphones will likely have a 6.78-inch FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP Sony IMX766 camera, and a 6,000mAh battery unit.

After the launch of the ROG Phone 6 series back in July, Asus has now announced that the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will be launching on September 19. The D in the name apparently stands for Dimensity, as the phone will be swapping out the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chips in favor of Dimensity 9000+ chips.

Now, a new report from 91mobiles has revealed the renders of the ROG Phone 6D series which consists of two models, the vanilla 6D and the 6D Ultimate. So, let’s take a look.

Going by the renders, the devices appear to be pretty similar to their Snapdragon counterparts. The ROG Phone 6D (on the right) especially looks identical to the ROG Phone 6. On the other hand, the 6D Ultimate (on the left) features some minor design changes compared to the 6 Pro.

As we already know, the ROG Phone 6D ultimate is confirmed to come with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, making it the first gaming phone to feature this particular chip. The device has scored 11,46,594 points on the AnTuTu benchmark which is 2-3 percent better compared to the 6 Pro equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

A 3C listing of the ROG Phone 6D revealed its 65W fast charging capabilities. Other specs of the devices are expected to be the same as the non-D variants, which means we will likely get a 6.78-inch FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display, 50MP Sony IMX766 camera, and a 6,000mAh battery unit on the new devices.

ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate global launch date has been announced. It will debut on September 19th. It will be the third variant in the ROG Phone 6 series that consists of a regular and Pro models. The Taiwanese brand has also confirmed the chipset on the upcoming offering.

The ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will be the first gaming phone to be powered by MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9000+ processor. Most gaming phones in the market are equipped with Snapdragon chipsets. The upcoming device was also spotted on AnTuTu benchmarking website. It scored 11,46,594 points which is said to be 2-3 percent more compared to the Pro variant that is equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Out of the 11,46,594 points, 2,91,317 points are for the CPU while the rest are for GPU, MEM, and UX testing. The ROG Phone 6D’s 3C certification website listing reveals that it will come with support for 65W fast charging.

Apart from a different processor, the ROG Phone 6D is expected to retain other specifications from its Snapdragon counterparts. This includes a 6.78-inch FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display, 50MP Sony IMX766 camera, and a 6,000mAh battery unit.

ASUS ROG Phone 6D with Dimensity 9000+ SoC appears on AnTuTu benchmark

ASUS launched the ROG Phone 6 series gaming smartphones last month and the Pro model in the lineup was ranked at the top of the list on AnTuTu benchmarks. Now, the company is working on a new device in the lineup, which has surfaced on AnTuTu.

As per the listing, the upcoming smartphone carries model number ASUS AI2203D is named ASUS ROG Phone 6D and the device will come powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor.

The phone has managed to score 1,146,594 points in AnTuTu benchmark, which means that it’s 2-3% more compared to the ROG Phone 6 Pro which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor.

The listing reveals that the upcoming ROG Phone 6D scored 291,317 points for CPU, which is around 15 percent higher than the Qualcomm Snapdragon series chipset. In GPU, MEM, and UX testing, it scored 430,867, 218,270, and 206,140 points respectively.

The flagship ASUS ROG Phone 6D smartphone with model number ASUS_AI2203 has already passed through the 3C certification processor which has revealed that the device will come with support for 65W fast charging.

The device has already appeared on the ASUS website on the “China RoHS Compliance Mark” page, but the company is yet to officially announce the phone. While the launch date is not yet known, we expect the phone to soon get launched in China.
