<p>It was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/04/asus-zenfone-13-ulra-no-launch-this-year/">reported</a> around two weeks ago that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/asus">Asus</a> will not launch new smartphones this year. That speculation has now gained clarity after fresh comments from the company’s top leadership, outlining what lies ahead for its phone business and where priorities are shifting.</p>

<h3><strong>Asus confirms no expansion in smartphone product lines</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-672304" width="900" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-1.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-1-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-1-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Asus ZenFone 12 Ultra</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>At Asus’ year-end employee gathering held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre, chairman Jonney Shih confirmed that the company will not expand its smartphone product lines. He stated that Asus will not add new phone models or introduce additional product categories within its phone portfolio. This effectively signals a pause on aggressive smartphone growth rather than a short-term delay.</p>

<p>Shih also clarified that existing smartphone customers will continue to be supported. Asus plans to maintain after-sales services and commitments to users who already own Asus smartphones. The focus, however, will not be on scaling volumes or entering new segments within the smartphone market, which has become increasingly competitive and margin driven.</p>

<h3><strong>Strategic shift towards AI-driven hardware and robotics</strong></h3>

<p>With smartphone expansion off the agenda, Asus is redirecting its attention towards artificial intelligence-driven hardware. The company plans to invest more heavily in AI-centric systems, including intelligent machines, robotics, and edge computing devices capable of operating with minimal human intervention.</p>

<p>Asus believes long-term growth will come from building what it describes as physical AI products rather than relying on consumer smartphone sales. This includes AI servers, enterprise-grade systems, and integrated platforms that combine hardware design with advanced AI software.</p>

<p>For smartphones, the shift means continuity without growth. Asus phones will remain supported, but they are no longer positioned as a primary growth engine as the company pivots towards an AI-first future.</p>

<p>Asus recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/02/06/asus-zenfone-12-ultra-launch-specs-price/">took wraps off the Zenfone 12 Ultra</a>. The device succeeds the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-11-ultra/">Zenfone 11 Ultra</a>.</p>

<p>Though the product is called ‘Ultra,’ it is not accompanied by ‘standard’ and ‘pro’ models. It is a loner handset like its predecessor.</p>

<p>Again, like its forerunner, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-12-ultra/">Zenfone 12 Ultra</a> is a non-gaming version of the current-gen ROG Phone. This means it is more or less the same as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9-pro/">ROG Phone 9 Pro</a>.</p>

<p>The core specs are identical on the two. The two only differ in terms of look and feel.</p>

<p>Either way, let’s take a look at the key features of the Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra in this article.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display.jpg?x44794" alt="Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra" class="wp-image-672183" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3><strong>Resembles Candies</strong></h3>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra has almost the same dimensions as the ROG Phone 9 Pro. The overall design is also nearly identical. But certain things set them apart.</p>

<p>The camera islands on the two devices are slightly different from one another. The LED flash module sits to the right of the secondary sensors on Zenfone 12 Ultra. While on the ROG Phone 9 Pro, it is located below the primary sensor.</p>

<p>Most importantly, the Zenfone 12 Ultra lacks the mini LED display on the back and comes in eye-catching colors. These hues, namely Sage Green, Sakura White, and Ebony Black, make the device look like candies. It matches the aesthetics of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/26/nubia-65w-gan-charger-candy-launch-specs-price/">Nubia Candy Charger from 2020</a>.</p>

<h3><strong>Powerful Hardware</strong></h3>

<p>Asus has equipped the Zenfone 12 Ultra with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. It is currently the most powerful chip on Android phones. This silicon even goes head-to-head with the Apple A18 Pro chip inside the iPhone 16 Pro.</p>

<p>The latest Snapdragon chipset is further paired with fast LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The handset offers up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.</p>

<p>Lastly, the device draws energy from a 5,500mAh battery. It supports 65W wired and 15W wireless charging standards.</p>

<h3><strong>Versatile Cameras</strong></h3>

<p>The Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra has a versatile triple camera system on the rear. All three modules offer different focal lengths (wide, ultrawide, and telephoto).</p>

<p>The primary camera is a 50MP Sony Lytia 700 sensor. It is paired with a 13MP 120° FOV ultrawide unit and a 3x 32MP telephoto shooter.</p>

<p>On the front, the handset sports a 32MP RGBW sensor for selfies and video calls.</p>

<h3><strong>Poor Software Support</strong></h3>

<p>The Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra ships with Android 15. It also comes with several AI features for productivity, communication, and camera.</p>

<p>However, unlike the competition, Asus guarantees only 2 major Android updates. This is unacceptable for a smartphone that starts at €1,100.</p>

<p>For comparison, similarly priced Samsung Galaxy S series phones offer 7 years of Android updates.</p>

<p>Hot on the heels of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9-fe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ROG Phone 9 FE</a> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/02/05/asus-rog-phone-9-fe-launched-with-snapdragon-8-gen-3-affordable-price-tag/">announcement</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/asus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Asus</a> today unveiled the Zenfone 12 Ultra —essentially a stripped-down version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ROG Phone 9 Pro</a>, minus the gaming-focused extras. Instead, it leans into a more conventional smartphone experience while borrowing design cues from last year’s Zenfone lineup.</p>

<p>While the Zenfone 12 Ultra brings the usual generational upgrades, Asus is betting big on AI this time around.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-1024x512.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-672182" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-launch-and-price.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra Specs</strong></h2>

<p>At the heart of this AI push is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite chipset. Asus claims the SoC delivers a 45% boost in CPU speed, a 40% faster GPU, and a 40% jump in NPU performance compared to the previous generation. Power users can configure the device with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.</p>

<p>And all that hardware isn’t just for show—Asus is baking AI directly into the Zenfone 12 Ultra. The phone comes preloaded with Meta’s Llama 3 8B model to run a variety of AI tasks on the device.</p>

<p>For instance, the new AI Call Translator 2.0 reportedly offers real-time voice translation across both the native Phone app and third-party VoIP messaging platforms. The Recorder app also gets AI-powered features, including multi-speaker identification, summarization, and translation of audio recordings.</p>

<p>On the camera front, Asus swapped out the IMX890 sensor for a Sony Lytia-700, which pairs with a fourth-generation 6-axis hybrid gimbal stabilizer that promises a 66% improvement in movement correction. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-672184" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-cameras-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>It’s paired with a 32MP telephoto lens that offers up to 3x optical and 10-30x HyperClarity zoom, while the 120° ultra-wide lens covers broader shots. On the front, you get a 32MP selfie camera with a 90° lens.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The phone’s AI camera features include AI Tracking, AI Portrait Video 2.0, and AI Voice Clarity for videos. For photos, there’s AI Magic Fill (which removes unwanted elements), AI Unblur, AI Panning Shot (for dynamic motion blur), and AI HyperClarity (to sharpen images at 10x zoom).</p>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra retains a 6.78-inch Samsung E6 OLED display with LTPO technology, supporting refresh rates from 1 to 120Hz and a 144Hz mode for games. It peaks at an impressive 2,500 nits of brightness and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-672183" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-Design-and-Display-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Battery life gets a boost with a 5,500mAh dual-cell setup that supports 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Asus claims a full charge in 39 minutes and up to 26 hours of usage on a single charge.</p>

<p>In an era where the 3.5mm headphone jack is becoming a relic, Asus is keeping it alive, that too with Dirac Virtuo for Headphones technology for enhanced audio quality.</p>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra is sustainable as well. It uses 100% recycled aluminum for the frame and 22% recycled glass for the display. The phone is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance and comes in Sage Green, Ebony Black, and Sakura White color options.</p>

<h2><strong>Pricing and Availability</strong></h2>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra is now available in Europe, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Priced at €1,100, Asus currently has an early bird discount where buyers can snag the device for €1,000 till February 28.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/asus">Asus</a> recently confirmed that the Zenfone 12 Ultra will launch globally on Feb. 6. A recent teaser offered a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/01/31/asus-zenfone-12-ultras-latest-teaser-showcases-front-design-3-5mm-audio-jack-ai-features/">glimpse of its front design</a>, revealing new AI-powered features such as real-time call translation. The teaser also confirmed the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rarity in modern flagships. Speculations suggest that the device might share its core hardware with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9-pro/">ROG Phone 9 Pro</a> but without gaming-centric features. Now, a fresh report from <em>WinFuture.de</em> has revealed the phone’s complete specifications along with official renders. Read on to find out whether it is truly a repackaged ROG gaming phone or something different.</p>

<h3><strong>Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra design, colour variants</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-featured.png?x44794" alt="Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra f" class="wp-image-671539" width="787" height="442" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-featured.png 660w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Asus-Zenfone-12-Ultra-featured-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px" /><figcaption>Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra f</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra sports a premium build with a distinct design, setting it apart from Asus’ gaming series. While it shares a similar form factor with the ROG Phone 9 Pro, the camera module is significantly redesigned, featuring imprinted texts, such as 50MP, OIS, and gimbal stabilization.</p>

<p>Unlike the aggressive aesthetics of ROG devices, the Zenfone 12 Ultra opts for a more refined look. It will be available in multiple colour options, although exact details remain unknown. Additionally, the flash module placement differs from the ROG counterpart, making it visually unique. The leaked images show that the device will be available in black, green, and pink shades.</p>

</figure>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra features a 6.78-inch Samsung LTPO OLED display with 2400 x 1080 FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which can reach 144Hz in gaming scenarios. It is powered by a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.ocm/tag/snapdragon-8-elite">Snapdragon 8 Elite</a> chipset, paired with 8GB or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage.</p>

<p>In the camera department, Aus has equipped the device with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700 sensor featuring hardware-based gimbal stabilisation. It is accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 32-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The 32-megapixel front-facing camera remains unchanged from the ROG Phone 9 Pro.</p>

<p>A 5,500mAh battery fuels the Zenfone 12 Ultra, supporting 65W wired charging and 15W Qi wireless charging. The Zenfone 12 Ultra runs Android 15 out of the box and integrates AI features to enhance photography and video recording. Impressively, it retains a 3.5mm headphone jack despite having IP68 dust and water resistance.</p>

<h3><strong>How similar is it to the ROG Phone 9 Pro?</strong></h3>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra is largely based on the ROG Phone 9 Pro, sharing the same display, chipset, RAM, storage, and front camera. However, it differentiates itself with a smaller 5,500mAh battery (compared to the ROG Phone 9 Pro’s 5,800mAh), a redesigned camera module, and the absence of gaming-specific features like AirTriggers. The focus here is on camera performance and AI-driven enhancements, making it a more mainstream alternative to ASUS’ gaming flagship.</p>

<p>On Feb. 6, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/caetegory/asus">Asus</a> will unveil the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-12-ultra/">Zenfone 12 Ultra</a> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/01/13/asus-zenfone-12-ultra-will-launch-globally-on-february-6th-with-ai-features/">for the global market</a>. It will arrive as a successor to last year’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-11-ultra/">Zenfone 11 Ultra</a>. The company hasn’t revealed any specifications of the device yet. However, an X post released by the brand reveals the front and a few features of the new phone.</p>

<h3><strong>Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra’s front design revealed</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-video aligncenter"><video controls src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/New-ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser-reveals-design-3.5mm-headphone-jack-and-AI-features.mp4"></video></figure>

<p></p>

<p>The Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra can be seen sporting a flat display with narrow bezels on all four sides. While it is not very clear, the bezels could be thinner than the previous generation.</p>

<p>The commercial shows the person using an AI-based real-time call translation feature, indicating that the Zenfone 12 Ultra could be equipped with multiple AI-driven features. The handset shown in the image appears to have a cyan shade and seems to have a protruding camera module. The bottom edge of the phone features a 3.5mm audio jack, making it one of the rare flagship phones to retain this nearly extinct feature.</p>

<h3><strong>Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra specifications</strong></h3>

<p>On the specs front, the Geekbench listing of the Zenfone 12 Ultra that surfaced earlier this month revealed that it features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 16 GB of RAM, and Android 15. The rest of the device&#8217;s specs are under wraps.</p>

<p>Speculations are rife that the Zenfone 12 Ultra’s specs could be identical to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9-pro/">Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro</a> minus its gaming-focused features. Therefore, it is likely to arrive with a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ 165Hz screen, a 32-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel (main) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 32-megapixel (telephoto) triple camera setup. Under the hood, the device is expected to feature the <a href="https://wwww.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite">Snapdragon 8 Elite</a>, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5,800mAh battery with 65W wired and 15W wireless charging.</p>

<p>Earlier this month, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/01/13/asus-zenfone-12-ultra-will-launch-globally-on-february-6th-with-ai-features/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ASUS confirmed the launch date for the Zenfone 12 Ultra</a>. This upcoming high-end device is set to debut on 6th February 2025. But ahead of its release, the company shared another teaser regarding this device, which offers us a glimpse at the Zenfone 12 Ultra&#8217;s front design. So let&#8217;s check it out.</p>

<h2>ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra Front Design Teased</h2>

<p>In an official tweet, the company claims that it has given the Zenfone 12 Ultra a &#8220;makeover&#8221;, by blending style and technology. Unfortunately, since we only get a look at the front, it&#8217;s hard to see these design overhauls. From the front, the Zenfone 12 Ultra appears similar to the Zenfone 11 Ultra with slim bezels around the screen and a center aligned punch hole cutout for the selfie camera.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra.jpg?x44794" alt="ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra" class="wp-image-670627" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption>ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Just recently, the ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra was also spotted on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/01/15/asus-zenfone-12-ultra-geekbench/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GeekBench</a>. This benchmark listing confirmed that it will be equipped with Qualcomm&#8217;s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. So you&#8217;re getting cutting edge performance. The first teaser also hinted at new AI powered features as well. This processor is paired with 16GB of RAM and the device may run on the Android 15 OS out of the box. </p>

<p>Considering how the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-11-ultra/">Zenfone 11 Ultra</a> was a rebranded version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-8/">ROG Phone 8</a>, we can assume the Zenfone 12 Ultra being a rebranded <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9/">ROG Phone 9</a>. So we can expect the device to sport a tall 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, 185Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and 2500 nits of peak brightness. A large 5,800mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 65W wired fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging. Other notable features include a 50MP triple camera setup on the rear, a 32MP selfie shooter, stereo speakers, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. </p>

<p>The Zenfone 12 Ultra’s Geekbench listing reveals that <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">the </span><a href="https://wwww.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite"><span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Sna</span>pdragon 8 Elite</a> chipset powers it. While the chipset&#8217;s name is not explicitly mentioned, the CPU and GPU details in the source code confirm that it features Qualcomm&#8217;s latest flagship processor.</p>

<p>The Geekbench listing further reveals that the device has 16 GB of RAM and Android 15. The device has scored 3036 and 9656 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.</p>

<h3><strong>Zenfone 12 Ultra could be similar to the ROG Phone 9 Pro</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="500" height="500" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Asus-ROG-Phone-9-Pro.png?x44794" alt="Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro" class="wp-image-661001" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Asus-ROG-Phone-9-Pro.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Asus-ROG-Phone-9-Pro-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Asus-ROG-Phone-9-Pro-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Asus-ROG-Phone-9-Pro-420x420.png 420w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></figure></div>

<p>To recall, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-11-ultra/">Zenfone 11 Ultra</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-8-pro/">ROG Phone 8 Pro</a> were nearly identical phones, with the ROG model offering additional gaming-focused features. Therefore, it is likely that the Zenfone 12 Ultra could be identical to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9-pro/">ROG Phone 9 Pro</a>, which debuted a couple of months ago.</p>

<p>Therefore, the Zenfone 12 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED FHD+ 165Hz screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5,800mAh battery with 65W wired and 15W wireless charging. It may feature a 32-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel + 32-megapixel + 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens.</p>

<p>The ROG Phone 9 Pro, which packs these specs, offers additional features, such as a 24GB+1TB variant, pressure-sensitive gaming triggers, and an additional USB-C port. The Zenfone 12 Ultra is likely to max out at 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/asus/">ASUS</a> launched the Zenfone 11 Ultra back in March last year. The successor, the Zenfone 12 Ultra, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/17/exclusive-asus-zenfone-12-ultra-surfaced-but-its-not-coming-right-away/">appeared in the IMEI database</a> back in Q3 last year. Finally, the brand has confirmed the launch date of the device, and its February 6th at 14:30 (GMT+8), a month earlier than its predecessor.</p>

<h2>Zenfone 12 Ultra to use AI for improved imaging experience </h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-668448" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/ASUS-Zenfone-12-Ultra-teaser-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>&#8220;Zenfone 12 Ultra unlocks the power of AI&#8221; the company notes in its teaser and also reveals that one of the aspects of the phone that benefits from the addition is photography. It will be interesting to see how much of an improvement is there as compared to the predecessor.</p>

<p>The teaser image shared by the brand also hints at 4K video recording capabilities and a possible focus-tracking feature for videos. Not to mention, it hints at significant addition of new features and an overall improvement in image quality.</p>

<p>The company has shifted away from the compact Zenfone design starting last year. It’s clear that the brand is embracing larger, more feature-packed devices moving forward. While specific details about the Zenfone 12 Ultra remain under wraps, the company is expected to share more teasers leading up to the launch event.</p>

<h2>What else to expect?</h2>

<p>For those looking for hints, it’s worth recalling the Zenfone 11 Ultra, which was essentially a slightly rebranded version of the ROG Phone 8. If ASUS follows a similar strategy this time, the Zenfone 12 Ultra could share much of its DNA with the ROG Phone 9, which was unveiled last November.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-1024x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra" class="wp-image-604246" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-1536x1536.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-2048x2048.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-1920x1920.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Asus-Zenfone-11-Ultra-orange-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-rog-phone-9/">ROG Phone 9</a> is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset chip, which is paired with up to 24GB of RAM and a massive 1TB of storage, making it a beast in terms of performance. It remains to be seen if ASUS will carry over these specifications or offer something different with the Zenfone 12 Ultra.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-11-ultra/">Zenfone 11 Ultra</a> didn’t make its way to the Indian market, though the ROG Phone 8 Pro did debut with a starting price of Rs 94,999. Whether the Zenfone 12 Ultra will follow a similar path remains unclear.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/asus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ASUS </a>has started work on its new flagship smartphone, the Zenfone 12 Ultra. Gizmochina has spotted the Zenfone 12 Ultra in the IMEI database. In fact, this smartphone is a clone of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/03/rog-phone-9-makes-its-first-appearance-on-the-web-here-are-some-details/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ROG Phone 9 series </a>and has similar specifications.</p>

<h2>ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra</h2>

<p>ASUS wants to increase competition in the smartphone market. The company launched the Zenfone 11 Ultra smartphone a few months ago. So, the brand will launch the Zenfone 12 Ultra at a later date. According to the IMEI database, this smartphone will have the model number <strong><em>ASUSAI2501H</em></strong>.</p>

<p>Should be noted that the Zenfone 12 Ultra and the ROG Phone 9 series will have the same features. We saw the same example with the Zenfone 11 Ultra and ROG Phone 8 series this year. According to the IMEI Database, the model number of the ROG Phone 9 will be ASUSAI2501D.</p>

<p>ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra and ROG Phone 9 series will be powered by the same processor. The smartphones will use Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Both smartphones will come with at least 12 GB of RAM. The ROG Phone 9 series will also feature lighting and trigger buttons for gaming.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, there is no information on when these two smartphones will be introduced. However, previous models Zenfone 11 Ultra and ROG Phone 8 series were introduced this year. Therefore, it&#8217;s very likely that these two smartphones will be introduced in 2025. More information is likely to emerge in the future, both in terms of specifications and official launch dates. We are eagerly waiting to see what these two smartphones have to offer.</p>
