A Geekbench listing hints at the next device not being far off.

The Zenfone 4 seen on Geekbench is listed as the ASUS_Z01KD and is powered by the SDM660 a.k.a Snapdragon 660. The octa-core processor is clocked at 2.21GHz.

The phone has 4GB of RAM and runs Android 7.1.1. Geekbench results shows the phone scores 855 points in the single-core test and 4127 points in the multi-core test.

Surprisingly, this pales in comparison to that of the Sharp FS8016 seen a couple of weeks ago. The Sharp FS8016 has the same Snapdragon 660 mobile platform and 4GB of RAM but scores 1656 and 5244 points in the single core and multi-core tests.

The ASUS_Z01KD is included in the list of upcoming phones to be released this year but there are two versions on that list. One is Z01KD_1 and the other is Z01KD_2. Like we interpreted, there will be two variants, however, leakster Roland Quandt explained in a tweet that they will have different processors. One will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 and the other will have a Snapdragon 630.

Now that we have seen the SDM 660 version, we should expect to see the other variant soon.

The phone is not only the first 8GB RAM phone in the world, it’s also the first device to support VR (Google Daydream) and AR (Google Tango). In addition to the Zenfone AR, the Zenfone 4 series will also be the focus for the Taiwanese company. A new leak has revealed the lineup for the new series.

In the past few weeks, we have seen a number of new ASUS devices on TENAA and from some other sources. However, this new leak reveals the devices that will get the Zenfone 4 name.

Zenfone 4 Max (ZC554KL): We already saw this device get its Bluetooth certification. Device ID is listed ASUS_X00ID which is the same as its model number.

Zenfone 4 Pro: This device is still unknown but since it gets the Pro suffix, we presume it will be a more powerful variant of the Zenfone 4 itself. Device ID is ASUS_Z01GD_1 and model number is ASUS_Z01GD.

Zenfone 4 Selfie: The first Zenfone Selfie was released back in 2015. It had a 13MP camera on the rear and another 13MP front facing camera with its own dual LED flash. The Zenfone 4 Selfie is the second phone with the selfie name but instead of calling it the Zenfone Selfie 2, we think this name is better to prevent confusion and allow for a more uniform naming scheme. We expect it to have a superb selfie camera as the name implies.

Zenfone 4 (ZE554KL): This is definitely the main Zenfone 4. The listing shows there will be two variants (possibly regional). One has Device ID ASUS_Z01KD_1 with corresponding model number ASUS_Z01KDA and the other has Device ID ASUS_Z01KD_2 with model number ASUS_Z01KD. The specs are unknown but we expect a mid-range chip like that of last year, probably the Snapdragon 626.

Zenfone 4V: This is an entirely new device as ASUS hasn’t released a Zenfone 3V or Zenfone 2V or Zenfone V in the past. Device ID and model number is ASUS-A006.

There is a chance that there will be more variants. As you can see, there is no Zenfone 4 Deluxe in the list above neither is there a Zenfone 4 Laser. ASUS says it will announce the new line next month.

This release will be an important event as this will determine whether Asus can build up the momentum to increase its revenue since the dip during 1Q17 in its smartphone business. Mr. Shen, CEO of Asus, stated that the company’s smartphone division is forecasting to overall profit by the end of this year.

We will be expecting Asus to be releasing a 5.5-inch model initially before other variants in their product line. The 5.5-inch model has been reported to be priced, unlocked, below NT$15,000 (US$498).

The 5.5-inch model, Asus ZenFone 4 Max, is speculated to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 or by a Snapdragon 660 processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and offer 32GB of internal storage.

In terms of image capture, the ZenFone 4 Max will feature a dual rear camera arrangement with one 12-megapixel sensor and the other a 5-megapixel sensor. The front-facing selfie camera will be an 8-megapixel shooter. The device is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 after launch.

The device has been paired with 3GB RAM and internal storage that seems to be 32GB, similar to the ZenFone 4 Max, the device also features a dual rear camera set-up and an 8-megapixel camera.
