<p>Now, the company has uploaded the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-pie/">Android 9 Pie</a> update for its Zenfone 5 and the package is now available for download on the company&#8217;s official website. The FOTA update is just around 1.1GB and the process of installation is pretty straightforward.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-215373 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Android-9.0-Pie.png?x10805" alt="Android Pie" width="763" height="445" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Android-9.0-Pie.png 763w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Android-9.0-Pie-300x175.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 763px) 100vw, 763px" /></p>
<p>Just download the package from the source link below and then copy the downloaded file to the microSD card. Once done, go to the recovery mode, choose &#8220;apply updates from microSD&#8221;, select the downloaded package, confirm and you are all set. The process will take up to 30 minutes to complete. If you don&#8217;t want to do this manually, wait for a couple of days to get OTA update.</p>
<p>While the Zenfone 5 has now received the Android Pie update, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-5z-2018/">Zenfone 5Z</a> is scheduled to receive Android Pie update by the end of January 2019. Currently, there&#8217;s no information available for the update of Zenfone 5.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-208520 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ASUS-Zenfone-5-ZE620KL_3.jpg?x10805" alt="Asus Zenfone 5" width="800" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ASUS-Zenfone-5-ZE620KL_3.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ASUS-Zenfone-5-ZE620KL_3-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ASUS-Zenfone-5-ZE620KL_3-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ASUS-Zenfone-5-ZE620KL_3-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>The Android Pie update changelog mentions the addition of some new features including a volume pop-up bar and a new ‘Magnifier’ feature that makes the copy-pasting task easier. It is also expected to offer better performance and extended battery life, thanks to the core optimizations in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android/">Android</a> Pie.</p>
<p>To remind you of the phone&#8217;s specifications, it features a 6.2-inch FHD display with 2040 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for added protection. Under the hood, it is powered is by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a> Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and Adreno 509 GPU.</p>

The versions announced were <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-5-2018/">Zenfone 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-5z-2018/">5Z</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/asus-zenfone-5-lite-snapdragon-430/">5 Lite</a>: the first is a midrange device focused on the quality-price ratio, the second is the flagship version and the third is the budget one. Asus decided not to disclose the Zenfone 5 Max at MWC this year which should be an affordable version focused on battery life, but it has just been spotted on Geekbench with the model number X00QD. The benchmarking platform has revealed the main hardware specs of the device and they are surprising.</p>
<p>Asus Zenfone 5 Max sports the best Qualcomm upper mid-range chipset: the octa-core Snapdragon 660 running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz. The SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM, and the operating system installed is Android 8.0 Oreo. The presence of the Snapdragon 660 SoC is totally unexpected and it is an incredible thing if we consider that the Zenfone Max devices from the previous generations had low-end MediaTek chipsets. The score obtained by the alleged Asus Zenfone 5 Max on Geekbench are 1518 points in single-core and 5386 points in multi-core.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-178562" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/gb.jpg?x10805" alt="asus zenfone 5 max" width="600" height="574" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/gb.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/gb-300x287.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>The result is similar to the one obtained by Vivo X20 Plus and other smartphones with Snapdragon 660 SoC inside. It seems that Asus Zenfone 5 Max will not be a typical mid-range device but an upper mid-ranger with great performance. If the price remains affordable and the battery as big as the ones on its predecessors, this device may become a best-buy in its range. Unfortunately, no other specs have been revealed by the benchmarking platform. We do not know when this device will be officially announced by the Taiwanese giant, nor do we know its launch price. At the moment, we just know that the handset has been recently certified by Wi-Fi Alliance.</p>

MWC 2018 will be held from February 26 to March 1 in Barcelona, and several important 2018 smartphones will be showcased at the trade show. World&#8217;s best smartphone brands will attend the event: Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Sony, and LG are all going to be present at the event. But which will be the most interesting smartphone that we will see at Mobile World Congress? Below there are all the best smartphones that we will likely  see at MWC 2018, together with their rumored and confirmed specs.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-171843" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/galaxy-s9-lilac-purple.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy S9 Lilac Purple Press Render" width="800" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/galaxy-s9-lilac-purple.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/galaxy-s9-lilac-purple-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/galaxy-s9-lilac-purple-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>These two handsets are the ones which are catalyzing most of the attention for MWC 2018, and they are the main 2018 flagships by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>. Their design will not differ so much from the S8 series, but the fingerprint scanner has been moved under the camera, so it will be more comfortable to use. They will come with brand new rear cameras which will feature variable aperture, and, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/19/samsung-galaxy-s9-full-specs-press-renders-release-date-leaked-ahead-mwc-2018-launch/">according to the latest teasers</a>, they will also offer a better selfie experience. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will come with the Samsung Exynos 9810 SoC in their European version and with a Snapdragon 845 in the U.S. version.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172477" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-MIX-2S-Render.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="600" height="482" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-MIX-2S-Render.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-MIX-2S-Render-300x241.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Everyone is waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 7 to be showcased at MWC 2018, but it seems that it will be replaced by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/">Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S</a>, an advanced version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix/">Mi Mix 2</a> and also the first intermediate &#8220;S&#8221; version between two generations. As every handset from this series, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will be a flagship device. It will exhibit a very high screen-to-body ratio, even higher than the Mi Mix 2. Under the hood, it will sport a Snapdragon 845 chipset, the best in the Android market, paired with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/15/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-truly-exists-firmware-files-reveal-key-details-like-sony-imx363-android-oreo-sd845-18-89-display/"> Leaked firmware files have also confirmed that its dual camera setup</a> will include a Sony IMX363 sensor.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Huawei P20</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172573" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Huawei-P20-Render-featured.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei P20 Render featured" width="1646" height="1078" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Huawei-P20-Render-featured.jpg 1646w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Huawei-P20-Render-featured-300x196.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Huawei-P20-Render-featured-768x503.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Huawei-P20-Render-featured-1024x671.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Huawei-P20-Render-featured-540x355.jpg 540w" sizes="(max-width: 1646px) 100vw, 1646px" /></p>
<p>Huawei P20 is another flagship phone that will be launched at MWC 2018. It will be offered in at least three models: Huawei P20, P20 Plus, and P20 Lite, with the third being a mid-range device. The first two, which will be the main <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> flagships of H1 2018, will be the first device from the P series to sport a borderless display and an 18:9 or higher aspect ratio. Another distinctive thing will be a triple camera setup on the rear side which may feature a 5x hybrid zoom. The SoC will be the octa-core Kirin 970 with AI, and it should be paired with 6 or 8 GB of RAM depending on the variant that you will choose to buy. According to the latest leaks, even the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/08/huawei-p20-lite-3d-renders-video-confirms-notched-display/"> Huawei P20 Lite will come with a bezel-less display and an iPhone X-like notch</a> which will house the front camera and a small earpiece.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Nokia 9</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172896" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Nokia-9.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="209" height="241" /></p>
<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nokia">Nokia</a> 9 will be a flagship as well, the best flagship ever released by HMD Global. The company which acquired<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/19/nokia-9-could-launch-mwc-2018/"> Nokia has already confirmed the event at MWC 2018</a>, but not much is known about the specs of the upcoming flagship, and we do not even know for sure if it will really be showcased at the trade show. From what rumors and leaks suggest, this <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/26/nokia-9-protective-cases-spotted-online-design-tow-launch-draws-near/">phone will come with an 18:9 display which will be curved at the sides</a>. According to rumors, even though it will be a flagship, it will not sport a Snapdragon 845 SoC, instead it&#8217;ll feature Snapdragon 835 from 2017. Together with the high-end chipset, there should be 4 or 6 GB of RAM.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Sony Xperia XZ2 / XZ Pro</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167357" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Sony-Xperia-XZ-Pro-Render-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Sony Xperia XZ Pro Render 1" width="600" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Sony-Xperia-XZ-Pro-Render-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Sony-Xperia-XZ-Pro-Render-2-300x275.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/sony">Sony</a> will take advantage of MWC 2018 to launch its new flagships, just like the previous years. According to speculations, there may be two flagships: Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ Pro; the latter might even be called Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2 &#8212; it is still unclear. With these devices, Sony will definitely<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/09/18/sony-may-switch-new-mirai-design-instead-omnibalance-mobile-world-congress-2018/"> abandon its OmniBalance design to embrace borderless displays</a>. One of these flagships is expected to have a 4K display with a 5.7-inch size, and a Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood. Just like every Sony flagship, you can expect outstanding camera performances, as well as an elegant design and a well-optimized software side.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Asus Zenfone 5</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172695" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Zenfone-5-Lite-official-render-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1200" height="793" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Zenfone-5-Lite-official-render-1.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Zenfone-5-Lite-official-render-1-300x198.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Zenfone-5-Lite-official-render-1-768x508.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Zenfone-5-Lite-official-render-1-1024x677.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>With the hashtag #BackTo5 (because an Asus Zenfone 5 device has already been launched in the past), <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/asus">Asus</a> has confirmed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/12/asus-announces-zenfone-5-will-launch-february-27-mwc-2018/">official announcement of the Asus Zenfone 5 line-up at MWC 2018</a>. At the trade show in Barcelona, we should see at least three models from this series. The standard version should be a midrange or upper-midrange device, probably with a Qualcomm Snapdragon from the 6xx series. Besides the normal variant, we will see the Asus Zenfone 5 Lite which will be the cheaper one, and the Asus Zenfone 5 Max which will be more affordable and focused on the battery life.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>LG V30s</h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172127" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/0020324_lg-v30-plus-4gb-ram128gb-rom.jpeg.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="805" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/0020324_lg-v30-plus-4gb-ram128gb-rom.jpeg.jpg 805w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/0020324_lg-v30-plus-4gb-ram128gb-rom.jpeg-300x186.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/0020324_lg-v30-plus-4gb-ram128gb-rom.jpeg-768x477.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/0020324_lg-v30-plus-4gb-ram128gb-rom.jpeg-540x335.jpg 540w" sizes="(max-width: 805px) 100vw, 805px" /></p>
<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/llg">LG</a> is rumored to have started the design of the LG G7 from scratch, and this means that the company will not showcase the handset at MWC 2018. LG G7 is said to be replaced by a more advanced version of the LG V30, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/09/lg-v30s-specs-pricing-leaked-arriving-lg-lens-mwc-2018/">which should be called LG V30s or LG V30 Plus Alpha</a>. This version will arrive with new AI features and it will be also focused on camera performances. It is rumored to come with a feature to control the camera via Google Assistant and with a technology called Vision AI which will be able to apply filters and correct the colors automatically.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Motorola Moto G6</h3>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Moto-G6-Plus.jpg?x10805'><img width="150" height="150" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Moto-G6-Plus-150x150.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail" alt="Moto-G6-Plus" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Moto-G6-Plus-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Moto-G6-Plus-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px" /></a>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/motorola">Motorola</a> Moto G6 is the upcoming line of mid-range phones by the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a>-owned U.S. company. It will be composed of Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, and Moto G6 Play, and it will be official at MWC 2018. Several renders have surfaced about these devices, and t<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/14/moto-g6-series-specs-prices-new-press-renders-leaked/">hey highlight a glass back, a dual camera setup</a> and 18:9 displays for Moto G6 and G6 Plus. Moto G6 Play will be a more affordable entry-level variant of these two devices. Moto G6 Plus will sport Snapdragon 630 SoC on the hardware side, and a 3250 mAh battery. Its standard version will have a lower-end Snapdragon 450  and a 3000 mAh battery.</p>

The ASUS Zenfone 5 series has been a regular on leaks lately and more keeps coming out. The latest leak is the live image of the Zenfone 5 and it sort of confirms the presence of a notch in the display similar to the iPhone X.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/asus-zenfone-5.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-174045" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/asus-zenfone-5-969x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="640" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/asus-zenfone-5-969x1024.jpg 969w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/asus-zenfone-5-284x300.jpg 284w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/asus-zenfone-5-768x811.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/asus-zenfone-5.jpg 1047w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>A couple of days back, popular Twitter tipster @RQandt shared some details of the Zenfone X with us, including the presence of an iPhone X-like display notch. The tipster also unwrapped a set of renders of the device which he claimed were from a manufacturer. Looks like the tipster was right after all as the live image shows a sleek device saddled with a design that includes a notch on the display similar to the design which Apple used on its commemorative iPhone X.</p>

<p>The notch on the Zenfone 5 is shown to house the selfie camera lens, earpiece on the leaked live image but the renders we have seen previous showed the presence of a sensor on the left side of the earpiece. Apart from the notch, the live image shows the Zenfone 5 will indeed have a bezel-less design with a high screen-to-body ratio. The device also looks to have an 18:9 aspect ratio and that is evident in the elongated display. Furthermore, there is no physical home button at the front which is an indication the device will likely have a rear-mounted sensor or perhaps, an in-display fingerprint sensor. The renders leaked previously point at a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. We can also see the power button and volume rocker at the right side of the display. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/12/asus-announces-zenfone-5-will-launch-february-27-mwc-2018/">Asus Zenfone 5 will be launched at MWC 2018</a> and there is an official invitation to that effect already.</p>
