Keep in mind that this page may not be ready for publication – since it isn’t scheduled to be released yet – thus some facts may be incorrect. But here’s what the Zenfone 9 is said to be like.

By today’s standards, it won’t be all that little, but it will be small. It is somewhat smaller than the Zenfone 8 in size and weighs 165g. Its dimensions are 146.6 x 68.2 x 9.45mm. In contrast, the Galaxy S22 measures 146 x 70.6 x 7.6mm and weighs 167g.

The phone will have a 5.92″ AMOLED display (manufactured by Samsung) with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Gorilla Glass Victus will protect it. The phone will be water and dust-resistant, with an IP68 classification. The 12MP Sony IMX663 with dual PDAF will be used as the front camera.

There will be two cameras on the rear. The primary module has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with “6-axis gimbal stabilization” (1.56″, 1.0 m pixels) (machine translated, could be wrong). 8K video may be captured using this camera. The 12MP ultra-wide camera with an IMX368 sensor is also located on the rear.

Being a true little flagship, the Asus Zenfone 9 will, of course, be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Elkjp advertises four color options in addition to three storage options (8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 16/256GB).

The phone will support GNSS (GPS L1+L5, GLONASS L1, Galileo E1+E5a, BDS, and QZSS) as well as Wi-Fi 6E (axe), Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and 5G (bands: 41, 77, 78, and 79). There will be a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C 3.0 port for connected communication.

The 4,300mAh battery (300mAh greater than the model from last year) can also be charged via the USB-C connector. The retail bundle will include a 30W USB-C charger, according to the retailer. On the side, there will be a fingerprint reader (replacing the under-display reader of the old model).

Additionally, August 2024 is listed as the date of the most recent OS upgrade that is assured (about two years from now). “44797” is mentioned as the final guaranteed security patch, although we’re not completely sure what that implies.

Price and availability

The vanilla Asus Zenfone 9 (8/128GB) will cost NOK 8,000 (equivalent to $810/€800) based on Elkjp’s pricing. The fully equipped 16/256GB option costs NOK 9,500 (approximately $960/€960), which is 10% more than the 8/256GB configuration.

One of the newly released from Asus is the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 which is an upgraded version of the Zenfone Max Pro M1. From the latest news, the M1 successor has received the newly rolled out Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) update.

There was a release of new update days after the company rolled out a new update for its Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Zenfone 5. This is the first update the device is getting after it launch two weeks back in India.

The company has however, stated that the new package update will come with better camera effect optimization along with updated audio performance, upgraded fingerprint sensor. Also the upgraded touch firmware is an improved step towards making it more accurate and fast, thereby resolving any glitches that must have been found. The update has also improved the display edge on this device. Lastly, there has been an update on the Google security patch from October Security patch to November.

It’s assured that Asus will roll out this update in batches; invariably the update will be released to a minimal number of users before it get to others, so as to avoid system bugs associated with updates. As a reminder, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 features a 6.2-inch Full HD+ screen giving a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels on 19:9 aspect ratio screen and 450 nits brightness. Its powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform which works together with 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. Another major feature is the 5000mAH battery capacity. He has been the head of the company for the past 11 years. He will be replaced by two acting CEOs — PC business lead S.Y. Hsu and global customer service lead Samson Hu.

Along with the resignation of Jerry Shen, the company also announced that it will be revamping its mobile business strategy going forward. The company said that moving forward, it will put more emphasis on gaming industry products and devices for power users.

This could mean that the company will be shifting its focus from the Zenfone lineup, which helped the company establish its presence in the budget smartphone segment. However, it’s noteworthy that the company has not made any official announcement in regards to the Zenfone lineup.

The emphasis on gamers and power users is the result of the company’s focus on the high profit, high return professional and e-sports mobile game market. Also, Asus is primarily known as a PC and gaming products company, so it makes sense for the company to focus more on making gaming phones.

The company’s first gaming smartphone — Asus ROG Phone, has received favorable reviews from critics as well as users. The smartphone also supports a wide-ranging line of accessories, making it a versatile device and the most “gamer-centric” gaming phone of the year.

Another reason for the company to not focus on the budget segment is the competition. The budget and mid-range segment or the general consumer mobile market is a “bloody battlefield” as described by ASUS chairman Jonney Shih in an interview with Business Next.

Recently, we reported that the company has sent out media invites for a launch event on 17th October in India. Now, it’s confirmed that Asus will be announcing two new smartphones at the event. Also, this is the global launch event, meaning that both the devices will first get launched in India. The event will also be live-streamed by the company.

The successor of the Zenfone Max Pro M1, dubbed as Zenfone Max Pro M2, is in the works and was recently certified by EEC in Russia. While the company has not revealed anything related to the phone, there’s a possibility that Asus could announce Zenfone Max Pro M2 at the event.

Like the Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone Max Pro M1, the upcoming phones from the company will also be available for purchase exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart. However, the company has not revealed any details related to the smartphones but it appears that the new devices will be a part of company’s Zenfone lineup.

Asus has adopted the strategy of aggressive pricing in the Indian market, which seems to be working very well for the company. So, we are expecting the upcoming phones to have aggressive pricing. To know for sure what’s up the company sleeves, we’ll have to wait until the company makes the devices official on 17th October.

The smartphone is believed to be the Asus Zenfone 5Z, which has not been released yet. With the smartphone appearing on GeekBench, it seems that the launch of the Asus Zenfone 5Z is imminent.

The Asus Zenfone 5Z — the flagship smartphone from the Taiwan-based manufacturer was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year. However, the company has not yet made it available for purchase.

The smartphone features a 6.2-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship processor — Snapdragon 845, which also powers majority of the flagship smartphones launched this year so far.

The Snapdragon 845 chipset is based on the advanced 10nm LPP process technology and adopts the Kryo 385 architecture. The CPU clock speed of the SoC reaches 2.8GHz, and comes equipped with Adreno 630 GPU.

The device packs 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It comes equipped with dual camera setup at the back, consisting of a 12-megapixel lens and an 8-megapixel sensor. The primary lens uses a 1.4-micron Sony IMX363 sensor module with an f/1.8 aperture.

It runs on Android Oreo operating system out of the box with the company’s own ZenUI on top. The phone also comes with its own version of Apple‘s Animoji called ZeniMoji. It comes with stereo speakers and each has a NXP smart amplifier. There is also NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, an audio jack, and support for Hi-Res audio and DTS.

The phone is powered by a 3,300mAh battery and comes with a new feature called AI Charging which helps double the lifespan of the battery. According to Asus, the phone studies your sleep pattern, so when you plug in before going to bed, it charges the battery up to 80% and leaves it there. Just before you wake up, it then resumes charging so you can wake up to a full battery.

Recently, the smartphone appeared on AnTuTu, revealing a score of 274499 points that is consistent with that of other Snapdragon 845-powered device. However, it’s interesting that the score surpasses the 273741 points scored by Xiaomi’s latest Mi Mix 2s.

According to new rumors, Asus will launch a gaming smartphone alongside the Zenfone 5 series at MWC 2018. After the initial success of the Razer Phone, it seems that we’ll see more such gaming phones this year. Just like Razer, Asus is one of the most famous brands in the gaming sector. Its ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand counts many gaming PCs and peripherals which are among the most used by gamers.

Will we see a ROG phone as well? For now, we are just talking about speculations, there is no official confirmation by the company, so take this info with a pinch of salt. In the meantime, Asus has published an official teaser that confirms the launch of the Zenfone 5 at Mobile World Congress. According to sources, the company will launch at least three high-end phones in the first half of 2018, and it is said that there will be a gaming phone in addition to these. The smartphones in question are Zenfone 5, Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Zenfone 5z. But note that Zenfone Max Pro M1 is tipped to come with an octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC, which is not the most suitable SoC for gaming.

RELATED: First Look At iPhone-X Styled ASUS Zenfone 5, Brings Along More Zenfone 5 Lite Renders

On the other hand, Zenfone 5z should sport an octa-core Snapdragon 835, which is the best SoC by Qualcomm after the Snapdragon 845. It is also the same processor as the Razer Phone. All the high-end phones launched by Asus in 2018 should have a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels, unlike last year. The standard version of Asus Zenfone 5 will have very narrow bezels on three sides and a thicker one on the lower part. It will be launched on February 27 and it will probably be an upper-midranger, so we really hope to see a more advanced version of the model which could be dedicated to gaming.

One user who took to Reddit explained that he had tried calling 911 when he saw a building on fire only for his phone to have rebooted. He was able to get the incident on video a third time.

Comments on the thread showed that he wasn’t alone as some reported that they also experienced it when dialing other emergency numbers such as 999 or 112 (Europe’s emergency numbers). Some also said they didn’t have the issue.

OnePlus has issued an official statement on the matter. They said they have contacted the customer and also posted an email address for other affected users to reach them on. The email address is support@oneplus.net.

The topic which has garnered much attention on Reddit has also revealed that the issue isn’t limited to the OnePlus 5. There were also complaints from multiple ASUS Zenfone users. The problem is said to be caused by custom manufacturer dialers not talking well with Android’s native phone framework.

While we advise against calling emergency numbers just to test if it is working, there practically isn’t a way to know if your phone is fine or not. Nevrtheless, you can call a non-emergency public safety line and try to explain the situation to them requesting for a time when you can call to test your phone.

This release will be an important event as this will determine whether Asus can build up the momentum to increase its revenue since the dip during 1Q17 in its smartphone business. Mr. Shen, CEO of Asus, stated that the company’s smartphone division is forecasting to overall profit by the end of this year.

We will be expecting Asus to be releasing a 5.5-inch model initially before other variants in their product line. The 5.5-inch model has been reported to be priced, unlocked, below NT$15,000 (US$498).

However, there are indications that Taiwanese smartphone maker ASUS may beat the duo of Samsung and Xiaomi to use the flagship Snapdragon 835 chip on its smartphone. The company recently teased via Twitter, the launch of a flagship Asus Zenfone model during CES that would be powered by the world’s best processor. The launch will take place on January 4, 2017.

We are not entirely sure if the Asus Zenfone expected would actually feature the Snapdragon 835 chip, as it is not categorically stated but don’t forget that the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe was the first Snapdragon 821-powered phone. In addition, it is sure going to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip on board and the best so far Qualcomm has got is the Snapdragon 835. It is possible, though, that the SD 821 which is also one of the best around is being referred to.

ASUS never fails to disappoint when it comes to releasing multiple versions of their flagship devices. And a few days after announcing their line-up for 2016 at COMPUTEX, we are already hearing rumours of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 variant for the Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

For those who do not know, the Snapdragon 823 is actually a beefed up SD820 clocked at a higher speed. The original Deluxe features a Snapdragon 820 clocked at 2.15GHz and has a starting price of $499. But if you do need the extra processing power, you should be ready to shell out a few more bucks. The SD823 Deluxe is expected to be released in certain Asian markets which includes India and the Philippines in August.

ASUS is however not the only company to have a snapdragon 823 phone in the works. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6 (or 7), the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, and Nubia X8 are said to feature the same SoC.

While this is the first of the variants, I have a feeling it won’t be the last. We should keep our fingers crossed for other versions. Most likely one that features a Mediatek SoC.

The company seems to be launching three new smartphones in the series and we already have the three possible names for the same — ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Max. The company has already kind of confirmed the launch of the three handsets with its teaser video released a couple of days back. Now, it looks like one of these ZenFone models has been spotted in the wild in China.

The image isn’t very clear, which makes it hard for us to see what’s on the back panel. What we could make out was that the phone comes with rear placed volume buttons, just like its predecessor. The camera sensor along with some other tech is located on the top left corner. Another thing almost confirmed by this leak is that the phone will be made out of metal.

While this may not be so clear, what really helps us understand the design of the three ZenFone models is the basic renders of the devices that poped up on the internet. All the three smartphones seem to of different sizes, with the one that we saw in the above above probably the Max or Deluxe version with the largest form factor. The other two models come with a slightly different design, with the camera and the other sensor located near the center, above the physical home button. The speaker and USB ports are located at the bottom according to this render.

As mentioned above, the company had already released the first video teaser for the new ZenFone 3 series. You can check them out from below.

Meanwhile, the launch is just 10 days away. So stay tuned for more details in the next few days.

This year, the company has been relatively quiet. While other smartphone vendors were busy announcing their flagships and mid-rangers, ASUS was silent, which made us wonder what when will we see the new Zenfone 3 series.

Now, two new renders of the Zenfone 3 lineup have been leaked. The Zenfone 3 is said to come with a thin aluminum design with a 2.5D glass up front as well as the back. The phone will feature Laser Autofocus along with a rectangular fingerprint scanner.

The second render is reportedly of the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe version. The phone will feature an oval home button, which should most likely integrate a fingerprint sensor. You will also find front facing flash on both the models.

This is not the first time we are hearing about the two Zenfone 3 models. A few weeks back, two new Zenfone models namely Z010DD and Z912D were spotted on the benchmarking app Geekbench. The former is most likely the Zenfone 3 Deluxe while the latter will be Zenfone 3.

One of the most interesting things revealed by the benchmark was that the phones were not using Intel’s chips. Instead, these models came with a Snapdragon chipset. Moving on, the Zenfone 3 (Z012D) will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There will be a 5.9-inch display with 720p resolution, which is unusually low for such a large display. Other features include a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

Coming to the ASUS Z010DD model, the phone will reportedly come with better specs, including the Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chip with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter, 5.5-inch 720p display and Android 6.0.

To be honest, these specs are not very powerful as compared to the earlier generations. The screen resolution is very low and the processors aren’t very powerful either. So, we will have to wait and see whether these are the specs that we’ll see on the new Zenfone 3 models.

The phone is expected to be unveiled at Computex 2016 that will start from May 31 and continue till June 4.

First of all, the Mi4i has beaten ASUS, hands down, being the cheapest full HD LTE enabled flagship. While being the lighter one of the two flagships, in terms of weight and price, the Mi4i offers no less than the Zenfone in terms of power and speed. Mi4i bears a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor at heart, whereas ASUS shows hardcore loyalty to Intel Chipset. Moreover, Xiaomi’s 3120 mAh battery is more powerful than ASUS’s 3000mAh while the latter’s processor is more battery consuming; it is clear who the winner is in this round (1). However, the Zenfone has a better front camera and more storage, with 16GB (non-expandable) on Mi4i against the 16GB expandable memory on the Zenfone.

Currently, the price stands at $200 for the Mi4i which is the same price as the ASUS Zenfone 2 (2GB model). However, depending on the RAM and other specs, prices can vary. With hardcore specs like that, it’s quite a sweet deal don’t you think?
You can compare every specs of the devices in details from the table below.
