ASUS has introduced the ExpertCenter PN55 Mini PC, a compact desktop focused on AI workloads and business use. It is positioned as a Copilot+ PC and runs on AMD’s Ryzen AI 400 Series processors with an XDNA 2 NPU delivering up to 55 AI TOPS.

The lineup includes multiple processor options. At the top is the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 with a 45W cTDP. Other options include Ryzen AI 9 465, Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450, Ryzen AI 7 450, Ryzen AI 7 445, Ryzen AI 5 PRO 440, Ryzen AI 5 435, and Ryzen AI 5 430, most with a 40W cTDP. Graphics are integrated and vary by configuration. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 uses Radeon 890M, the Ryzen AI 9 465 uses Radeon 880M, the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 and Ryzen AI 7 450 use Radeon 860M, and the remaining models use Radeon 840M graphics.

The system supports up to 96GB of DDR5 memory through two SO-DIMM slots running at 5600MHz, with configurations starting at 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB. Storage is handled by two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 slots, supporting NVMe SSDs from 256GB to 2TB. ASUS will also offer a kit version without pre-installed memory or storage.

ASUS is focusing on AI-assisted features supported by the NPU and CPU. These include live captions for multilingual meetings, AI-based image and content generation, and system-level recall for searching previously accessed files. A Copilot key and voice command support are included for interacting with these features.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 with the MT7925 module or Wi-Fi 6E with the MT7922 module, along with Bluetooth 5.4. Wired networking is handled by dual 2.5G LAN ports using the RTL8125BG controller. The system can drive up to four 4K displays through HDMI 2.1, two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs, and USB4 with DisplayPort 2.1 support and 40Gbps bandwidth.

Port selection is spread across the chassis. The front includes a power button, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port at 10Gbps, two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports at 10Gbps, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The rear includes one USB4 port with 100W power delivery input, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port, one USB 2.0 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, two 2.5G LAN ports, and a DC-in connector. A Kensington lock slot is placed on the side.

Security features include a fingerprint sensor on the chassis and support for fTPM 2.0 or an onboard TPM module. Select models also include AMD PRO technologies for hardware-level security and remote management.

The PN55 uses an aluminum chassis with a tool-less design for easy upgrades. It measures 130 x 130 x 34mm and weighs 530g. It also supports VESA mounting for fixed installations.

ASUS says the system meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards and is designed for continuous use in office setups, digital signage, and general workstation tasks.

ASUS has announced the 2026 versions of its ROG Strix G16 and ROG Strix G18 gaming laptops, introducing updated hardware, higher-end display options, and a redesigned chassis aimed at easier user upgrades. The new models bring Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors and NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series laptop GPUs to the Strix lineup, positioning them for high-performance gaming and content workloads.

Both the Strix G16 and G18 are powered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor, paired with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. This combination is designed to handle modern games with ray tracing, high refresh rate output, and GPU-accelerated tasks such as video editing and 3D rendering. Support for DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation is also included, which can improve frame rates in supported titles.

Display upgrades are a key change in this generation. The 16-inch Strix G16 features a 2.5K (2560 x 1600) IPS-level panel with a 300Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time, up from 240Hz in the previous model. It supports 100 percent DCI-P3 color coverage, Pantone validation, Dolby Vision, and G-SYNC. The larger Strix G18 uses an 18-inch 2.5K panel with Mini LED technology and more than 2000 dimming zones. It offers a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and peak brightness of up to 1600 nits, targeting users who need higher contrast and HDR performance.

Both panels include anti-reflection coating, aimed at improving visibility in bright environments and maintaining color consistency from different viewing angles.

Cooling has also been updated. ASUS is using a combination of a vapor chamber, a tri-fan setup, and a layered heatsink design to manage thermals. This setup is intended to maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions or heavy workloads.

One of the more practical changes is the redesigned chassis. The laptops now feature tool-less access through spring-loaded tabs, allowing users to open the system without screws. Internal components such as RAM and SSDs can be accessed quickly, and the SSD slots use a Q-Latch system for easier installation. Both models support up to 64GB DDR5 memory at 6400MT/s and up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.

Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 5 ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and power delivery, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a 2.5G Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Wireless support comes via WiFi 7. Audio features include Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and AI-based noise cancellation.

The laptops ship with Windows 11 Pro and include a per-key RGB keyboard with Aura Sync lighting and a dedicated Copilot key. Both models are equipped with a 90Wh battery and support up to a 380W power adapter.

The Strix G16 weighs 2.7kg, while the Strix G18 weighs 3.5kg. ASUS plans to offer both models in Eclipse Grey and Volt Green finishes.

ASUS has refreshed its ROG Strix gaming lineup for 2026, but the spotlight is clearly on the upcoming ROG Strix SCAR 18. It hasn’t fully launched yet, but early details and official renders give a pretty good idea of what ASUS is aiming for this year: more power, even if it comes at the cost of size.

The company announced the new Strix series alongside Intel’s latest Arrow Lake-HX chips, and the SCAR 18 (2026) is shaping up to be the top-end option. Images on ASUS’ ROG website show a familiar aggressive design, though the chassis has grown slightly. The laptop now weighs around 3.73kg and measures 35mm thick, both up from last year’s model. It’s not subtle, but that extra bulk seems to be there for a reason.

One of the more telling upgrades of this gaming laptop is the power adapter. ASUS is bundling a 450W charger, up from 380W on the previous version. That’s a big jump, and it usually points to higher sustained performance. ASUS itself hints at a higher total system power budget this time, which should help the laptop hold peak speeds for longer instead of dialing things back under load.

As expected, the hardware is top-tier. The SCAR 18 is expected to run on an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX-class chip, paired with NVIDIA RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. That combination should comfortably handle high-end gaming, heavy creative workloads, and pretty much anything else you throw at it.

Memory and storage look flexible as well. There are two DDR5-6400 slots for RAM upgrades and dual M.2 SSD slots with support for PCIe Gen5.

ASUS is sticking with a large 18-inch Mini LED panel with 3840 × 2400 resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate, which should be ideal for both gaming and content work.

The ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2026) is expected to arrive sometime in Q2 2026, with pricing and full configurations still to be confirmed. It’s clearly not trying to be lightweight, but for those chasing maximum performance in a laptop, that trade-off might be part of the appeal.

Earlier this month, Asus introduced its new business laptops called the ExpertBook B5 G2 and ExpertBook B3 G2. Both machines are powered by Intel’s 3rd-generation Core Ultra chips, also known as Panther Lake, and come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. 

What’s interesting about these PCs is that they come with an operating system called “Windows 11 pure OS (not for open channel)”, next to the expected choices like Windows 11 Home and Windows 11 Pro. 

As TechRadar notes, Asus hasn’t highlighted this in the marketing slide or press release. Instead, you see the mention directly on the specifications table. So, what is Windows 11 pure OS?

Asus ExpertBook B3 G2 and B5 G2 have a Windows 11 pure OS version

Asus hasn’t explained what makes this version of Windows 11 different. There’s no public breakdown of features removed or added. The phrase “not for open channel,” however, is telling. 

In enterprise hardware terms, that usually means the configuration isn’t sold through regular retail stores or online marketplaces. Instead, it’s likely reserved for bulk corporate purchases handled through business procurement channels (via TechRadar).

The “pure OS” likely means a cleaner installation of Windows 11. In consumer laptops, Windows often ships with extra apps, trial software, or manufacturer utilities. For large organizations, that can be a headache. IT departments typically prefer a streamlined system image that’s easier to deploy and manage across hundreds — or thousands — of devices.

A stripped-down Windows build would save time. There’s less need to remove unwanted apps, fewer background services to monitor, and potentially fewer variables when troubleshooting. For companies standardizing their fleets, simplicity matters more than flashy features.

Interestingly, the ExpertBook B5 G2 also debuts as part of Asus’ broader push into Copilot+ PCs, tying into Microsoft’s AI-focused hardware branding. Yet this quiet software option may be just as relevant to enterprise buyers.

The post Asus quietly adds a ‘Windows 11 pure OS’ option to its new ExpertBook laptops appeared first on Gizmochina.

A court decision in Germany has temporarily blocked Acer and ASUS from selling certain PCs directly in the country, following a patent dispute with Nokia.

The ruling comes from the Munich I Regional Court, which sided with Nokia in a case involving standard-essential patents (SEPs) tied to the H.265/HEVC video codec. HEVC is widely used for compressing high-resolution video, including 4K and 8K playback, and is built into modern processors and graphics systems.

According to the court, Acer and ASUS were found to have infringed Nokia’s patents without securing licenses on FRAND (fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory) terms. As a result, the court granted Nokia an injunction. That means the two PC makers cannot import, sell, or distribute affected devices directly in Germany, at least for now.

What’s affected?

Because HEVC support is deeply integrated into current hardware and software stacks, the decision potentially covers most recent laptop and desktop models from both companies. Acer has already removed PCs from its German online store, leaving only accessories such as monitors available. ASUS has similarly restricted parts of its German website, with some product pages offline or marked as unavailable.

Both companies have said the move is tied to the temporary injunction. They’ve also stressed that warranties, repairs, and customer service in Germany are continuing as normal.

The injunction applies to the manufacturers themselves, not to third-party retailers. That means stores like Amazon, MediaMarkt, and other electronics chains can continue selling devices already in inventory.

However, once current stock runs out, replenishing it could become difficult unless the dispute is resolved or a licensing agreement is reached.

Nokia filed patent lawsuits in 2025 against Acer, ASUS, and Hisense over HEVC-related intellectual property. Hisense later reached a licensing agreement with Nokia, leading to the claims against it being withdrawn.

Acer and ASUS have not settled so far and are expected to pursue appeals. Licensing negotiations may still be ongoing behind the scenes.

The laptop features a 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreen with 2880 x 1800 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and 0.2ms response time. It offers 500 nits brightness, 1000 nits HDR peak brightness, 100 percent DCI-P3 color coverage, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, PANTONE validation, stylus support, and eye care certification.

The aluminum chassis comes in Antrim Gray and measures 35.36 x 24.30 x 1.19 to 1.29 cm. It weighs 1.5 kg. Connectivity includes WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, one USB-A port, two USB-C ports, HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an SD 4.0 card reader. It packs an 83Wh 4-cell battery with a 68W USB-C adapter. Security features include Microsoft Pluton. It also meets MIL-STD 810H durability standards and offers a 1-year warranty.

Zenbook 14 (UM3406GA)

The Zenbook 14 is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 5 430 processor with 4 cores and 8 threads. It includes 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. The 14-inch FHD+ OLED touchscreen has a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate, and 0.2ms response time. It delivers 400 nits brightness, 500 nits HDR peak brightness, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, glossy finish, reduced blue light, TÜV Rheinland and SGS eye care certification, stylus support, and an 87 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Design and Build Quality

The Vivobook S14 might not be the flashiest device in the room, but it blends in well. The Matte Gray finish on my unit looks subdued and classy, with a CNC-engraved chrome Asus Vivobook logo that adds a bit of character without drawing too much attention. The overall design feels clean and minimal, and it does not attract fingerprints the way some glossier ZenBooks tend to.

It weighs just 1.4 kg and measures about 15.9 mm in thickness, which makes it easy to carry around in a backpack. Despite the lightweight design, the build feels solid. To be honest, the Vivobook S14’s display is class-leading for its segment. Copilot, background blur in video calls, real-time translation, and local AI summarization all run smoother and more efficiently on this chip than on older CPU or GPU-bound systems.

And it is not just theoretical. I used AI-powered features in Office apps, Windows Studio Effects, and several local applications that benefit from NPU offload, and they consistently performed without any issues. The advantage lies in the quiet and efficient operation, as AI tasks happen seamlessly in the background without draining the battery or triggering fan noise.

In terms of raw performance, the laptop never felt limited during everyday workloads. It handled heavy Chrome sessions, 1080p video editing, large WordPress dashboards, and even moderate gaming with ease.

Gaming

No, this isn’t a gaming laptop. But the Radeon 860M GPU with RDNA 3.5 architecture is surprisingly capable for an integrated chip. I tested a few titles:

• Valorant: 170-230 fps (Low settings, 1080p)
• Genshin Impact: 60 fps (Low), 20-25 fps (High)
• PUBG: ~50 fps (Lowest settings)

These aren’t groundbreaking numbers, but for an ultrabook? Very respectable. If you’re into casual gaming, this can hold its own.

Thermal and Fan Performance

Asus has done an excellent job with thermal management on this laptop. Even during benchmarks or light gaming, the fans never became noticeably loud. Most of the time, they stayed silent, especially when running in Standard or Whisper mode. When pushed in Performance mode, fan noise hovered around 38 dB, producing a low whoosh rather than a distracting sound.

Temperatures remained in the 75s °C range under load, with very little heat buildup across the chassis. After a Valorant session, the keyboard area felt only slightly warm, and the palm rest stayed cool. This efficiency comes from the dual fan cooling system that Asus adapted from its higher wattage designs, which provides more cooling headroom than the chip actually requires.

Battery Life, Sound, and Camera

Asus claims up to 23 hours of battery life, and while I did not reach that exact figure, I consistently achieved around 10 to 12 hours in real-world use. For my workflow of writing, browsing, streaming music, and light photo editing, I only needed to charge it every other day. When recharging was necessary, the 65W USB-C fast charging brought the battery back to 50% in under 40 minutes.

Audio performance is solid for a thin and light laptop. The stereo speakers deliver clear sound at high volume levels without noticeable distortion. Bass is limited, as expected, but the output remains crisp enough for calls, videos, and casual music playback. Asus’s Audio Booster tuning adds a bit of warmth and depth. For critical listening, headphones are still preferable, but the built-in speakers perform well for everyday use.

The 1080p webcam also performs well. It supports Windows Hello facial recognition through an IR sensor, enabling quick and reliable logins. Video quality is good enough under good lighting conditions, and the built-in microphone array captures voices clearly for online meetings. It may not rival dedicated webcams in sharpness, but with AI background blur and enhancements, it handles video calls effectively and without any issues.

Storage and Upgradability

The Vivobook S14 delivers impressive storage performance with its PCIe Gen 4 SSD. The review unit I tested featured a 512GB NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive, while Asus also offers a 1TB option depending on the configuration. Sequential read speeds exceeded 6,700 MB/s, and write speeds reached around 3,600 MB/s in testing. These results translate into fast app launches, smooth multitasking, and quick file access.

For memory, the laptop comes with 16GB of DDR5 RAM onboard, which is fast and efficient for daily productivity and creative workloads. Unlike many ultrabooks, Asus includes a DDR5 SO-DIMM slot for future upgrades, allowing users to expand memory beyond 16 GB if required.

The storage is also user accessible via a standard M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0×4 slot, making it possible to replace or expand the SSD later. This mix of soldered and upgradable components gives the Vivobook S14 more flexibility than most thin and light laptops in its class.

The Kithara is an open-back headset built around large 100mm planar magnetic drivers. That alone makes it unusual in the gaming space, where dynamic drivers are far more common. At $299, the Kithara is clearly aimed at enthusiasts rather than casual players.

The headset uses a fully open-back design, which helps create a wider, more natural soundstage. That can be useful for competitive games where spatial awareness matters, but it also means there’s no isolation.

Asus claims a frequency response of 8Hz to 55kHz, which is wider than human hearing, but the real takeaway is likely the tuning. It’s expected to offer a fairly balanced sound signature with good separation between bass, mids, and treble. In theory, that should make footsteps and directional cues easier to pick out without muddying everything with exaggerated low-end.

Unlike many gaming headsets, the Kithara includes a 4.4mm balanced connector, alongside standard 3.5mm and 6.3mm options, plus a USB-C adapter. The detachable boom mic uses MEMS technology and covers a typical 20Hz to 20kHz range.

The Vivobook Pro 16 is the more powerful option in the lineup. It features the third-generation Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor built on the 18A process. The CPU uses a 16-core configuration, including four ultra-performance cores, and reaches boost speeds of up to 4.8GHz. It comes with Intel’s Arc B390 integrated GPU based on the Xe3 architecture, which supports XeSS 3 frame generation and advanced video codecs like AV1 and H.266.

Asus has included Intel’s AI Boost NPU in both models. The chip can deliver up to 50 TOPS of NPU compute and up to 180 TOPS total AI performance. Asus has officially released the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W in Canada. You can buy it now at Best Buy for CA$1,399.99. In the US, it is available to pre-order via Newegg for for $1,099.99 with a January 30 availability date. The monitor got attention at CES 2026 for its insanely high refresh rates, and dual mode capability.

This is a 27-inch gaming monitor with a QHD resolution of 2560×1440. At native resolution, it runs at 540Hz, making it one of the fastest 1440p monitors you can get right now. If you care more about refresh rate than resolution, there’s also a 720Hz mode that drops down to 1280×720.

The panel uses LG’s latest Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology. This is better than older WOLED panels because it gets brighter, shows more colors, and lasts longer. Asus put a glossy TrueBlack finish on it to boost contrast and sharpness. There’s also a Neo Proximity Sensor that detects when you walk away and dims the screen automatically to help prevent burn-in and save power.

The response time is 0.02ms gray-to-gray. It covers 99.5 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut and has VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification. The contrast ratio is 1,500,000:1, and peak brightness hits 1,500 nits. That’s higher than the 1,300 nits you usually see on older WOLED gaming monitors.

For connections, it has DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20, which lets the monitor run at full resolution and refresh rate without needing Display Stream Compression. You also get two HDMI 2.1 inputs, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The monitor works with both Nvidia G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. It includes Asus OLED Care Pro features to reduce burn-in during long gaming sessions.

The GS-BE7200 supports multiple network configurations, including guest networks and isolated IoT subnetworks. Smart Home Master streamlines IoT device setup and VPN subnetwork creation. Security includes AiProtection’s triple-layer protection, parental controls, and pre-installed VPN support for network-wide traffic encryption.

At CES 2026, ASUS introduced the NUC 16 Pro, a compact desktop built for businesses that need local AI processing, solid connectivity, and reliable performance in a small package.

The NUC 16 Pro runs on up to an Intel Core Ultra X9 388H Series 3 processor with 65W TDP. Other options include Core Ultra X7, Core Ultra 7, and Core Ultra 5 processors. Some models support Intel vPro. Graphics come from either Intel Arc B390 integrated graphics or standard Intel Graphics. The system has a built-in NPU 5 that delivers up to 180 platform TOPS for AI tasks like local inference, analytics, and automation.

Memory depends on which version you get. The LPDDR5x model supports up to 96GB of dual-channel LPDDR5x memory at 9600 MT/s, but you can’t upgrade it later. The DDR5 version has two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots and supports up to 128GB, giving you more room to expand. Storage includes two M.2 2280 slots. One supports PCIe Gen 5 x4 and the other supports PCIe Gen 4 x4. SSD options range from 128GB to 8TB.

The NUC 16 Pro runs Windows 11 Home or Pro. It also comes as a barebone kit that works with Linux. You can connect up to four 4K displays at once using Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, or DisplayPort 2.1, depending on the model. For networking, you get dual 2.5G Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.0.

Front ports include one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×1 port and two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports. The back has two USB-A 3.2 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, video outputs, and a DC-in jack. Inside, there are headers for RS-232 and PCIe x1 expansion, which makes this useful for industrial setups.

ASUS has moved quickly with the release of its first gaming monitor built around G-Sync Pulsar technology, which was unveiled at CES 2026 last week. The ROG Strix XG27AQNGV debuted at CES 2026 and was expected later in January. Instead, pre-orders are already live in major regions including the US, UK, and Europe.

The ROG Strix XG27AQNGV is a 27-inch gaming monitor. It has a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 360Hz refresh rate. The panel is Ultrafast IPS with a 1ms GtG response time. It targets esports players and fast-paced games.

The key feature is NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar. G-Sync Pulsar pairs variable refresh rate with variable-frequency backlight strobing to improve motion clarity. In simpler words, it combines smooth, tear-free gaming (Variable Refresh Rate) with crystal-clear motion (Backlight Strobing). Previously, you had to choose between the two, but Pulsar allows your monitor’s backlight to pulse in perfect synchronization with your game’s changing frame rate. By flashing the light only when the pixels have finished changing, it virtually eliminates motion blur and “ghosting,” effectively making a standard 360Hz monitor look as sharp and clear as a theoretical 1,000Hz display during fast movement.

Brightness is 400 nits in SDR and 500 nits peak in HDR. The monitor supports HDR10 and G-Sync HDR. Color coverage reaches 90 percent DCI-P3 with 10-bit color and factory calibration targeting Delta E below 2. Contrast ratio is 1000:1 and viewing angles are 178 degrees.

The monitor includes Esports Dual Mode. This allows the display to run at 25 inches in 1920 x 1080 or a pixel-perfect 2368 x 1332 resolution with minimal latency impact. ASUS also supports ELMB Sync, enabling low motion blur with variable refresh rate without tearing.

ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS: Compact Ultrawide Option

Alongside it, ASUS announced the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS. This model also uses a 34-inch WQHD QD-OLED panel with RGB Stripe Pixel OLED technology and the BlackShield film. It runs at a 280Hz refresh rate with the same 0.03ms response time. Connectivity differs slightly, with DisplayPort 1.4 using DSC, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C offering 15W power delivery. ASUS also highlights a compact stand design intended to reduce desk space usage.

ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM: Dual Mode Tandem OLED

The ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM uses a 26.5-inch Tandem RGB OLED panel with a glossy TrueBlack coating. This panel removes the white subpixel found in standard WOLED displays and relies on a pure RGB Stripe Pixel structure. ASUS claims this increases color volume by up to 27 percent, particularly at higher brightness levels. The monitor features a Dual Mode that allows switching between 4K at 240Hz and Full HD at 480Hz, both with a 0.03ms response time. ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen 3: Updated 32-inch 4K Model

ASUS also updated its 32-inch 4K model with the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen 3. The new version keeps the 3840 x 2160 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and 0.03ms response time of the previous model. It now adds the BlackShield film for improved perceived black levels and higher panel durability. HDR support includes Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500. Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20, USB-C with 90W power delivery, and HDMI 2.1.

Asus plans to pause new smartphone launches in 2026

According to a recent DigiTimes report, smartphone distributors in Taiwan have indicated that they are no longer able to source Asus smartphones through local agents. This led to speculation that the company’s smartphone unit might cease activity after Dec. 31, 2025.

Responding to these claims, Asus clarified that its smartphone operations are continuing, but it currently has no plans to introduce new smartphone models in 2026. The company emphasized that its existing business structure remains unchanged.

While there has been no news about the Zenfone 13 Ultra, a report dating back to November 2025 revealed that the ROG Phone 10 series is in the works. However, there haven’t been any subsequent leaks.

Asus confirmed that maintenance services, software updates, and warranty support for all current smartphone users will continue as usual. This assurance is aimed at existing customers using devices such as the Zenfone 12 Ultra and the gaming-focused ROG Phone, ensuring their ownership experience is not affected by the absence of new launches.

Asus entered the mobile phone space in the early 2000s and initially found success in parts of Southeast Asia with competitively priced Zenfone models. Over time, growing competition from Chinese smartphone brands reduced its market share. In 2018, Asus restructured its smartphone business and absorbed a major financial hit linked to handset operations, prompting a sharper focus on premium and gaming devices instead of mass-market models.

The situation also reflects a broader trend among PC-centric brands struggling to sustain smartphone businesses. Acer, another Taiwanese brand, exited the smartphone segment in 2016 and only re-entered the space in 2024 through a licensing deal limited to India.

Asus began rolling out Android 16 update to its devices in early November alongside many other brands; however, its expansion has been sluggish, as the brand has been known for in recent years. The update is already available for four smartphones, and now the fifth one has joined the party, the ROG Phone 9 FE.

Asus confirmed the Android 16 rollout for the ROG Phone 9 FE via a post on its community forum. The update is tagged with the firmware version 36.0210.1420.30. It brings the Android security patch level to December 2025, in addition to the changes as part of Android 16.

The update doesn’t include major changes, but it does feature several quality-of-life upgrades to enhance the software experience. For instance, there’s a new Notification cooldown setting that lowers the volume of incoming notifications when an app sends you too many notifications within a short time. Additionally, the update includes a customizable power button option in advanced settings, a skip countdown button to the screen recording feature, Advanced Protection, and updated game profiles for many popular games. Note that Android 16 is a major upgrade for Asus phones. So, you’ll need to download a hefty package. For such bulky downloads, it’s recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection. Before installing the update, charge your phone to at least 40% to ensure a smoother installation. For added safety, you can back up important data to a different device or cloud storage.

Android 16 is the first major OS upgrade for the ROG Phone 9 FE, as it was released earlier this year running Android 15. The company promises just two major upgrades for this phone. So, Android 17 would be the final one. However, it will receive regular security patches for a few more years.

ASUS released the ExpertCenter P500 Mini Tower, a desktop PC designed for small businesses that need solid performance without spending too much.

The system runs on AMD Ryzen processors, with the top model using a Ryzen 7 260 at 3.8GHz. ASUS built a new Tower Air Cooler that lets the processor run at 45W TDP consistently. The company says this provides 40% better performance than similar desktops at the same price point. The cooling system uses copper heat pipes and a rear fan to pull air through the case, keeping noise at 28.7dB under heavy use.

Graphics options include integrated AMD Radeon 780M on Ryzen 7 models or Radeon 740M on Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 models. Discrete GPU options range up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 with 8GB GDDR7, plus RTX 5050, RTX 3050, and RTX A400 variants. The system takes up to 64GB of dual-channel DDR5-5600 RAM through two SO-DIMM slots. Storage includes two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD slots (up to 2TB each) and one 3.5-inch HDD bay (up to 2TB, 7200rpm) with tool-free installation.

Security features matter for business use. The P500 has a NIST SP 800-155-compliant BIOS, TPM 2.0, and a Kensington lock slot. ASUS will provide BIOS and driver updates for five years and includes a one-year McAfee+ Premium subscription. The company calls this package ExpertGuardian.

The P500 includes ASUS AI ExpertMeet software, which handles meeting transcription, translates subtitles in real time, and generates automatic summaries. This is part of the MyExpert software suite.

The case measures 296 x 155 x 347mm (29mm handle adds extra width) and weighs 6kg. Front ports include two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, and one combo audio jack. Optional smart card and SD card 2.0 readers are available. The back has HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, three USB ports (two USB 2.0, one USB 3.2 Gen 1), gigabit Ethernet with LED indicator, and three audio jacks for 7.1-channel output. Two USB 2.0 ports support keyboard power-on.

Processor options include AMD Ryzen 7 260 (8 cores, 16 threads, up to 5.1GHz, 16 TOPs NPU), Ryzen 5 220 (6 cores, 12 threads, up to 4.9GHz), and Ryzen 3 210 (4 cores, 8 threads, up to 4.7GHz). The PCIe 4.0 x16 slot runs at 8x electrical connection on Ryzen 7 models and 4x on Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 models.

The company has not yet announced the pricing or when the ExpertCenter P500 Mini Tower will go on sale.

Asus has announced an updated version of its high-end gaming monitor, the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen 3, adding a few notable refinements to an already familiar formula.

The monitor includes a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED display built around Samsung’s panel technology, a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, and support for competitive gaming as well as content creation.

The main change this time comes in the form of a new Black Shield Film. According to Asus, the added layer improves black levels in brighter rooms and cuts down on the purple tint QD-OLED panels can show under strong ambient lighting. The company claims up to a 40 percent improvement in perceived black depth, along with an anti-reflective coating. The surface is also said to be more durable, with higher scratch resistance for day-to-day use.

Connectivity has also been updated. The PG32UCDM Gen 3 now supports DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, joining HDMI 2.1 for next-gen consoles and high-end GPUs. There’s also a USB-C port with 90W power delivery, making it easier to pair the monitor with laptops using a single cable.

Other features carry over from the previous model. These include NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, Dolby Vision support, a built-in KVM switch, and Asus’ OLED Care tools aimed at reducing burn-in over time. The monitor is now certified for VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black, up from HDR 400 on the earlier version.

Pricing and availability haven’t been detailed yet. While the older PG32UCDM is still on sale in some regions, the Gen 3 appears positioned as Asus’ most refined QD-OLED option to date, especially for users gaming in brighter environments.
