BYD continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup. The company recently launched the Dolphin Pure model in Singapore and is now preparing for the launch of the Seal DM-i. BYD Seal DM-i to Disrupt Sedan Market with Pre-Sale at Chengdu Auto Show on August 25

The Chengdu Auto Show is an annual trade fair for automobiles and accessories held in Chengdu, China. The 26th edition of the show will be held from August 25 to September 3, 2023, at the Western China International Expo City. The show is a major event for the automotive industry in China, attracting leading car brands from all over the world to showcase their latest models and technologies. The show is also a major event for the Chinese automotive industry.

Chinese manufacturer BYD is set to launch its new Seal DM-i hybrid sedan at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 25. The company has announced that the vehicle will be available for pre-order during the event. The first batch of this vehicle was produced on July 19, and BYD claims it aims to “disrupt the traditional midsize sedan market.”

The BYD Seal DM-i costs betweenn 180,000 and 250,000 yuan ($25,000 – $35,000). You can pick from two types of engines The XiaoYun Plug-in Hybrid Specific 1.5L efficient engine and the XiaoYun Plug-in Hybrid Specific 1.5T turbocharged engine. Both work with a special hybrid system and powerful batteries made just for these kinds of cars.

The Seal DM-i offers a fuel consumption of 3.9 liters per 100 kilometers and an acceleration time of 0-100km/h in just 7.9 seconds. It also offers two NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) pure electric driving ranges: 121 km and 200 km. The interior of the Seal DM-i is also said to be spacious and luxurious, with features such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The BYD Seal DM-i is a significant new player in the Chinese automotive market, and its pre-sale launch at the Chengdu Auto Show is sure to generate a lot of interest. The car’s competitive pricing, efficient powertrain, and stylish design make it a strong contender in the midsize sedan segment.

At the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, electric vehicles startup Fisker has showcased the production version of its first EV — Fisker Ocean SUV. In terms of design, it seems quite similar to the first prototype that the company had unveiled at CES 2020.

It has been revealed that the Ocean SUVs will be manufactured using sustainable materials and the whole interior is made from recycled items. As mentioned by the company earlier, it also has a solar roof, which will be able to capture enough energy from the sun to power up to 1,500 miles of driving per year.

There’s a massive 17.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is positioned vertically  by default but with just a touch of a button, the screen will rotate horizontally and enter what the company calls “Hollywood Mode.”

The Fisker Ocean SUV, which the company has described as dynamic and driver-centric, will come in three trims that span a broad range of price and range. The Sport edition will be the most affordable among the three, starting at $37,499. It will have 275 horsepower driven through the front wheels and stands as the entry to the Ocean lineup and will be offering 250 miles of range.

The second model is Ultra, which starts at $50,000 and comes with 540 horsepower, and offers 340 miles of range. The top-end model in the lineup is Extreme, it offers 550 horsepower and 350 miles of range. The cars are expected to be available for purchase by customers late next year.

Fisker says that all three versions of the Ocean SUV will be able to charge other electric cars or an owner’s home, which is a part of its larger mission of promoting clean energy.
