<p>The Electronic Vehicles market is already ushering with new companies jumping onto the bandwagon and launching new EVs. Xiaomi is also preparing to enter the Electronic Vehicles market with the launch of the Xiaomi MS11 EV. With a bit of delay, the Xiaomi&#8217;s Automotive branch which was born in September 2021 is expected to make its official debut in 2024. </p>

<p><strong><em>Must See: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/01/30/xiaomi-ms11-ev-live-images-surface-online-launching-soon/">Xiaomi MS11 EV Live Images Surface Online, Launching Soon?</a></em></strong></p>

<p>There are multiple rumors and leaks related to the Xiaomi MS11 EV car which is expected to launch early next year, if the company receives the required approvals from concerned authorities. The sedan EV is already pictured in real (but camouflaged) while undergoing road tests in Xinjiang. In addition to previous leaks, the Xiaomi MS11 car has finally <a href="https://launchstudio.bluetooth.com/ListingDetails/193231" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">made it to</a> the Bluetooth SIG with several different models IC4034-BD, IC4004-BD, IC4024-BD, IC4054-BD, IC4005-BD and IC4015-BD. </p>

<p>The listing confirms the presence of Radio, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Media, Navigation, and CarPlay. The infotainment system in the car seems highly equipped with all the connectivity options.</p>

<p>The listing also confirms the presence of Qualcomm chipsets on board as it is using the concerned reference designs. It confirms the previously leaked information about the presence of the LiDAR sensor and Qualcomm 8295 chip. </p>

<h2><strong>Xiaomi MS11 EV Features (Expected)</strong></h2>

<p>The sedan EV from Xiaomi could have the name &#8220;Modena&#8221; and is expected to launch in three different models. The first two models will house a BYD Blade Battery (LFP) and the remaining model will have a ternary (NMC) battery. </p>

<p>The recent photos while testing revealed the presence of yellow calipers and a sharp-edged interior center console. </p>

<p>We expect more details about the car in the coming few weeks, as it has started appearing on public certifications. However, it is expected to feature a retail price of &nbsp;260,000 – 350,000 yuan (36,400 – 49,000 USD).</p>

<p>Tesla&#8217;s electric vehicles have disrupted the traditional automotive industry with their innovative designs, high-performance capabilities, and sustainable energy approach. With a range of models, including the popular <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/model-s">Model S</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/model-3">Model 3</a>, and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/model-x">Model X</a>, Tesla has set the standard for electric vehicles, boasting impressive acceleration, advanced autonomous driving features, and cutting-edge technology. The automobile industry is abuzz with news of Tesla&#8217;s highly anticipated, cheaper electric car. With a price point of between $25,000 and $30,000, this new offering will have a huge impact on automakers, the car market, and buyers alike. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/manny-becerra-vDloaizQO6I-unsplash-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="Tesla" class="wp-image-530477" /></figure></div>

<p>What&#8217;s driving down the cost of electric vehicles? While the expansion of the $7,500 U.S. tax credit and Tesla&#8217;s aggressive cost-cutting efforts have played a role, the root cause is car companies&#8217; improving EV technology and crucial new manufacturing processes. As a result, more new models are hitting the market, making electric vehicles cheaper and more mainstream. Supply and demand will play a major role in the normalization of EVs over the next decade. </p>

<p>Tesla&#8217;s lower-priced electric car is expected to be a game-changer. If these new models catch on, they will solidify electric transportation as a mainstream consumer product, while also enabling <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/tesla">Tesla</a> and other EV startups to become mainstream automakers. Analysts believe that Tesla&#8217;s cheaper model will be a compact luxury car. In the US, the Biden administration is pushing for reforms to reshape the auto market in favour of electric vehicles faster than previously expected. With the average price of a new car in the United States at $48,763, a rise of 30% in the past three years, the argument that EVs are a product for only the wealthy sections of society may no longer hold water if these new models sell for much less than that.</p>

<p>In addition to Tesla&#8217;s new electric car, there are over 60 new electric models expected to hit the market in the next few years. Experts predict that most companies will compete fiercely in the compact sedan segment. While the regulations around tax credits for electric vehicles are increasingly complex, there are more financing options in the auto loan market than ever, designed for environmentally friendly vehicles.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="610" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509-1024x610.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-526411" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509-1024x610.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509-300x179.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509-768x458.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509-696x415.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509-705x420.png 705w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Screenshot-2023-03-30-192509.png 1069w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The company has not provided any information on the upcoming technology but just stated that the technology will play a vital role in the intelligent integration of NEVs in the vertical direction.</p>

<p>BYD applied for the ‘Yunian’ trademark in January itself and this month in a Weibo post, the company hinted that the new technology would help to increase stability and on-road driving comfort.  The Invitation poster also hints at the application of the new technology.  It&#8217;s worth noting that the upcoming system to be launched by BYD on April 10th is named &#8220;Yunnian&#8221; (云辇) and includes the Chinese characters.&#8221;辇&#8221; which is uncommon and typically denotes the vehicle that was historically used by emperors and the character &#8220;云&#8221; which means cloud. This means the new technology will convert your vehicle into an emperor&#8217;s chariot. </p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/byd/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BYD </a>had made a major announcement regarding its automobile operations during a conference earlier this year. The company had officially revealed its plans that will have it discontinue the production of vehicles that run on conventional fuels, and now, another Chinese brand appears to be following suit.</p>

<p>As per official notes on the new energy strategy conference (Via <em><a href="https://www.pcauto.com.cn/hj/article/1741048.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pcauto</a></em>), Chinese automobile maker Forthing AKA Dongfeng Fengxing (subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group) plans to stop manufacturing fuel based vehicles within just 5 years. In other words, the company plans to completely shift to new energy powered vehicles in half a decade. As of right now, BYD is the only major automobile brand that has announced the discontinuation of fuel vehicles. The company made the announcement following its milestone achievement of becoming the world&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/12/02/tesla-once-again-ranked-second-in-the-global-ev-market/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">top new energy vehicle maker in terms of sale.</a></p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/343055744_1669428302988_830x600-1.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-499921" width="648" height="509" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/343055744_1669428302988_830x600-1.png 714w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/343055744_1669428302988_830x600-1-300x236.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/343055744_1669428302988_830x600-1-696x547.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/343055744_1669428302988_830x600-1-535x420.png 535w" sizes="(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px" /></figure></div>

<p>Sp the decision to stop producing fuel vehicles from Dongfeng Fengxing was quite noteworthy. Interestingly enough, the company also announced a new electric SUV model during the same press conference called the SUV Fengxing Leiting, which just recently went on pre-sales. This model is equipped with motors built by BYD, with its heat pump management system being made by Huawei. By the end of 2025, the company is also set to launch 10 new energy vehicle models as well that will include sedans, SUVs, MVPs, and more. So stick around for more updates regarding this matter.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mercedes/">Mercedes</a>, the world’s renowned German carmaker has recently made international news because the company has quietly introduced a new upcoming subscription service that will charge Mercedes owners US$1200 (excluding taxes) per year to make their cars accelerate faster.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-1024x577.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-497603" width="1024" height="577" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-1536x865.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-1920x1081.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase-746x420.jpg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mercedes-eq-acceleration-increase.jpg 2046w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Source: Mercedes</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The subscription, listed on<a href="https://shop.mbusa.com/en-us/connect/pdp/Acceleration-Increase/709"> the company’s official North American market website</a>, is not too subtly named “Acceleration Increase” and is coming soon to the brand’s Mercedes-EQ lineup of electric vehicles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Acceleration Increase will bring subscribed <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mercedes/">Mercedes</a> owners the privilege of their car’s full unleashed performance. Mercedes claims that with Acceleration Increase, subscribed owners will see a noticeable improvement in the acceleration in their currently owned Mercedes vehicles, specifically time saved of within 0.8 to 1.0 seconds(0-60 MPH).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Per Mercedes’ marketing material, Acceleration Increase also allows for the adjustment of the motor characteristic curve, torque and maximum output. Fine-tuning the electric motors increases the maximum motor output (kW) of owners’ Mercedes-EQ vehicles by up to 24%. In addition, the torque is also increased with the subscription, enabling your vehicle to accelerate noticeably faster and more powerfully.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mercedes/">Mercedes</a> also published the company’s findings of improvements between paying and non-paying Mercedes-EQ electric vehicle owners. The table is shown below:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-1024x466.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-497604" width="1024" height="466" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-1024x466.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-300x137.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-768x350.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-696x317.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-1068x486.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table-923x420.png 923w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/Mercedes-acceleration-increase-table.png 1162w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Source: Mercedes</figcaption></figure>

<p>The subscription model sounds great on paper. Until you realise that these promised features that the annual subscription brings, are actually all features already available on the built-in electric motors of the Mercedes-EQ electric cars, but locked behind a paywall that requires money to unlock the vehicle’s faster acceleration.</p>

<p>In other words, non-paying Mercedes-EQ buyers and owners will have to relegate themselves to an inferior driving experience compared to annually-paying owners, because <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mercedes/">Mercedes</a> will soon have acceleration-capped their driving experience behind the company’s outrageously expensive US$1200 annual paywall.</p>

<p>This is not the first time this decade that a famous car brand has gotten itself into a controversy after introducing a subscription service to its existing owners. <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2022/11/23/23474969/mercedes-car-subscription-faster-acceleration-feature-price">The Verge</a> reports that BMW had sparked outrage by similarly charging a US$18 monthly subscription in some countries for owners to use the heated seats already installed within the brand’s vehicles, just one of many features paywalled by the car manufacturer since 2020. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/bmw/">BMW</a> had previously also tried (and failed) to charge its owners US$80 a month to access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — software features which other carmakers have included for its customers for free.</p>

<p>Like the M5, the AITO M7 model will continue to be equipped with an extended-range power system consisting of a 1.5T range extender + motor. Apparently, Huawei thinks so as well, as a recent listing on China’s MIIT Database(via <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/613/281.htm">IT Home</a>), shows that Huawei has already planned ahead for its next generation of electric vehicles as recently got certified to proceed with the operation.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The listing does not show off the name of the product, but if examined closely, one of the photos contains a blurry wording that seems to resemble “AITO M7” signifying that this listing is the next <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> electric vehicle to be launched under the AITO sub-brand. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">From the listing, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> AITO M7 EV is detailed to be a mid-large sized 6-seater hybrid electric SUV, slightly larger than its AITO M5 predecessor. Judging from the outside looks, the AITO M7 adopts a similar design as its older sibling, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/24/huawei-harmonyos-powered-aito-m5-ev-china-take-on-tesla-model-y/"><span style="font-weight: 400">AITO M5</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. It features the same enormous air ventilation grill at the frontal bumper, a sleek and straight roofline, aerodynamic translucent headlights, chrome coloured trims across the body, etc. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The EV is also listed to come in five-spoke and ten-spoke wheel options, with optional upgrades such as chrome greyish translucent tinted windows, or ink-black translucent tinted windows. One minor design change of the AITO M7 though is that it seems to lack the “<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> Zhixuan” logo on the EV present on the AITO M5. However, the pictures uploaded to the listing did not show off pictures of the automobile from all angles, but there may be a possibility that Huawei had just decided to relocate the logo elsewhere on the car.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-455022" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-AITO-M7-windows-wheel.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei-AITO-M7-windows-wheel" width="686" height="789" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-AITO-M7-windows-wheel.jpg 686w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-AITO-M7-windows-wheel-261x300.jpg 261w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Huawei-AITO-M7-windows-wheel-365x420.jpg 365w" sizes="(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In terms of dimensions, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> AITO M7 weighs in at 2340kg, and has a length, width and height of 5020×1945×1775mm.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">For the engine powering the AITO M7, the electric hybrid automobile will be utilising a 1.5T range extender + motor combo. The rated power/peak power of the electric drive motor is listed to be 72kW/200kW, the maximum net engine power is listed to be 90kW, and the fuel consumption given by China’s MIIT is 1.05L/100km.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Since the AITO M5 only started delivering in March of 2022, it is expected that the AITO M7 will be announced later in the year so as to not cannibalise sales of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/24/huawei-harmonyos-powered-aito-m5-ev-china-take-on-tesla-model-y/"><span style="font-weight: 400">AITO M5</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The news comes from </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> Senior Executive, Wang Chao, who was a panellist at the National Chinese Electric Vehicle 100 Forum. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to a Chinese business media outlet, the 21st Century Business Herald, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> held a press media conference on January 9 at 2 pm CST at its Shenzhen Headquarters to discuss matters related to its growing smart electric car business. The conference was headed by Richard Yu, the executive director and double CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group and the intelligent automotive unit.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;At </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, we want our car manufacturing partners to become the industry&#8217;s most profitable car manufacturing company. We are saying this here and today to let the future know whether history has been accomplished by Huawei, a smartphone manufacturer.&#8221; Yu exclaimed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei collaborated with the famous car manufacturer, Seres, to launch its premium hybrid electric smart car series, AITO, with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/24/huawei-harmonyos-powered-aito-m5-ev-china-take-on-tesla-model-y/">first model being the AITO M5.</a> The production and assembly of the car are handled by Seres, whereas Huawei’s role in the collaboration is in the car’s exterior design, interior comfort as well as in the marketing of the product. Richard Yu emphasized again that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is not a car manufacturer, but the company wants to lend its expertise in marketing and trendsetting design to a rapidly growing car manufacturer like Seres.</span></p>
<p><figure id="attachment_434505" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-434505" style="width: 549px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-434505" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei-aito-m5" width="549" height="519" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5.jpg 549w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5-300x284.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5-444x420.jpg 444w" sizes="(max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-434505" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei AITO M5 Promo Poster</figcaption></figure></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The public is curious as to why </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> wanted to venture into selling cars, and in the meeting with the press. Richard Yu said Huawei had 3 major reasons to launch into the car market.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">First, after the US sanctions, Huawei’s 5G chipset stock was gradually dwindling, leading to lower revenue from its smartphone business. Richard Yu mentioned that by diversifying Huawei’s product catalog to include cars, its retail business could survive in China, as the profit margins per unit for cars are generally higher than its premium smartphones.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Second, the economic landscape has changed after the pandemic. Customers nowadays use online retailers as their all-in-one center for all their purchasing needs, and if an unknown car manufacturer just came into the scene without building its audience, it will be a challenging task to be accomplished. With </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s retail and sales network across the country, car manufacturers can save on the expensive concept store rentals, human resources as well as product marketing for their cars because Huawei is an established brand in China, and can be the one in charge of these after-sales services.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured.jpeg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-279779" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-1024x683.jpeg?x44794" alt="Huawei store logo official" width="696" height="464" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-1068x712.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-630x420.jpeg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-store-logo-official-featured-1920x1280.jpeg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Third, collaborating with car manufacturers also helps to accelerate the adoption of a fully </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> smart IoT ecosystem, ensuring convenience for Huawei users in China. Richard Yu mentions the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> powered AITO M5 as an example. With HarmonyOS, one can forget the worries of losing their car keys, and unlock their keys anytime with just a tap on their phone; one can connect and sync their phone’s navigation with the car’s navigation system; one can even activate seamless hands-free mode on the car with video calls and voice calls because both are synced to same Huawei account. Richard Yu emphasized again that this is the advantage of HarmonyOS.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“With the appeal of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> AITO M5 smart cars and paired with its countywide sales network, Huawei will be able to sell 300,000 smart cars in 2022.” Richard Yu boldly claims.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“With at least 1000 stores across the country, if each store sells 30 units of smart cars monthly, we can sell at least 30 thousand cars in a month. In about 10 months, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Huawei</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> will be able to reach its annual target if the pace keeps up. The car manufacturer would also receive revenues of over 100 billion RMB (~ 15.72 billion USD), and Huawei would have achieved its promise of building the most profitable car manufacturer in the Chinese market.”</span></p>

<p><figure id="attachment_434505" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-434505" style="width: 549px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-434505 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei-aito-m5" width="549" height="519" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5.jpg 549w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5-300x284.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/huawei-aito-m5-444x420.jpg 444w" sizes="(max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-434505" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei AITO M5 Promo Poster</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The Huawei AITO M5 is AITO’s first luxury smart electric plug-in hybrid SUV, a bold move by them in its venture into the Chinese electric vehicle market. Inspired by the Porsche Macan, its design is very sleek and modern, with a spacious interior to boot. The SUV was jointly developed by Huawei and along with another Chinese brand Seres, which is under the Chongqing Sokon conglomerate company.</p>
<p>However, the unique and highlighting feature of the Huawei AITO M5 smart car, is that it comes with Huawei’s own in-house operating system, HarmonyOS. If you are not aware of HarmonyOS, HarmonyOS main function is to provide seamless integration for Huawei IoT products which includes its smartphones, laptops, smartwatches and starting as of recent, for its smart cars as well!</p>
<p>In a press announcement recently, Mr Yu Chengdong, Senior Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Huawei Smart Car Division, mentioned that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> has developed the industry’s first Bluetooth and NFC supported digital car keys for its newly announced AITO M5 smart car.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_434506" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-434506" style="width: 690px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-434506 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Huawei-Digital-Car-KEys.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei-Digital-Car-Keys" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Huawei-Digital-Car-KEys.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Huawei-Digital-Car-KEys-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Huawei-Digital-Car-KEys-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Huawei-Digital-Car-KEys-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-434506" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Digital Car Keys on the Huawei Wallet App</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Mr Yu explains that on HarmonyOS 2.0 supported smartphones, the digital smart car keys are located within the Huawei Wallet app. With the digital keys, you can do pretty much everything a pair of physical car keys do, without having to worry about misplacing the keys or finding the keys during an emergency. To illustrate the technology, the digital car keys use Bluetooth to unlock and lock the car from a distance away, and if Bluetooth does not work or the phone battery runs out, the car keys also support NFC(even without phone battery) for unlocking the car so you’ll still have access to the car even when Bluetooth is not working.</p>
<p>The NFC and Bluetooth encryption of the digital keys are also present in the smart car, and it is compliant with the China ICCE standard as well as the road safety and privacy of the car drivers and passengers. As of today, the digital car keys are only available on HarmonyOS 2.0 Huawei smartphones, however, Huawei is planning to add this functionality to its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-watch-3-pro/">Huawei Watch 3</a> series too as it would be more convenient for drivers to unlock their cars with a twist of a wrist compared to taking your smartphone out and clicking a button.</p>
