Last year, the company unveiled the ZTE Axon 10 Pro with impressive specs and pricing after the US trade ban that was imposed on it was canceled. The phone had arrived in February 2019 with Android 9 Pie OS and now its users in Europe and the U.S. are being treated with the latest Android 10 OS.

The Axon 10 Pro runs on ZTE’s proprietary MiFavor Android skin. The company surprised many by announcing the Android 10 OTA for the smartphone back in December 2019 before a lot of prominent smartphone manufacturers. Now a confirmation has come from the company that it has started rolling out Android 10 OTA updates for users. The size of the update is 1.6GB.

ZTE started rolling out the Android 10 update for European customers a few days back. However, US customers are in for a treat as the company has added a download link to the software at the bottom of the device’s online brochure in the US for installing the update through sideloading. As mentioned, the Android 10 OS can be installed on Axon 10 Pro through OTA.

The Axon 10 Pro in China runs MiFavor UI – a custom version of Android, while the international version runs a near stock version of Android. The announcement was made on Weibo in form of a teaser poster shared by the official Mi Favor account.

The poster has a QR code at the bottom corner. Those interested in testing the new beta version are required to scan the code and apply to join the program.

There is no info on when a beta version of Android Q will be available for the global version though it did say it hopes to update the phone to Android Q and Android R.

The Axon 10 Pro was released this May. It has a 6.47-inch curved AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2340 resolution and HDR10 support. There is a Snapdragon 855 processor under the hood paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It has a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It also uses the F2FS file system format and is the first Snapdragon 855-powered phone to do so.

The display has a notch that is home to a 20MP sensor while the back houses a 48MP f/1.7 primary camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a 20MP ultra-wide angle camera. The Axon 10 Pro doesn’t have an audio jack like its closest competitor, the OnePlus 7 duo but it has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. Other features are a 4000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4+ and wireless charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type-C port.

It’s a surprising bit of news, and it’s impressive that ZTE’s already pushing out hefty improvements.

The ZTE Axon 10 Pro has a 48MP f/1.7 primary camera, a 20MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens with a 125° FOV, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens in a triple camera arrangement. Before this, the device already came with 3x optical zoom, 5X hybrid zoom, and 10x digital zoom. Now, those numbers get boosted further for even more impressive camera performance.

The ZTE flagship has an in-display fingerprint scanner that unlocks in just 0.27s and support for Face ID too. It has stereo speakers (Dual Super Linear speakers), Dual SmartPA, and DTS:X Ultra. The 5G version has one SIM slot and MicroSD card slot while the 4G version has a hybrid dual SIM slot. Both have NFC capabilities and Bluetooth 5.0.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Axon 10 Pro get more features in the future. We already know the device will arrive in European markets soon. The Axon 10 Pro is a solid flagship on paper, though we aren’t sure how much of an impact it’ll have on the market. It’s still one of the only phones currently on the market with 5G support, so it has that.

The Axon 10 Pro has a 6.47-inch curved flexible AMOLED FHD+ display with really slim bezels. ZTE has used COP packaging technology which results in an ultra-thin lower bezel that measures just 1.8mm. The phone has a 92% screen-to-body ratio, is covered with Gorilla Glass and supports HDR10.

The Axon 10 pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor. It is the first Snapdragon 855 phone with F2FS file system and AI Acceleration Engine. The F2FS File System improves storage read and write speeds as well as memory capabilities. And with the new gen AI Acceleration Engine, ZTE boasts your phone will still be as fast 20 months from now.

The Axon 10 Pro comes in multiple variants. There is a 6GB RAM + 128GB version, an 8GB RAM + 256GB version, and a 12GB RAM + 256GB version.

Coming to cameras, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro is no walk-over. It has a 48MP f/1.7 primary camera, a 20MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle camera with a 125° FOV, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera. The phone has 3x optical zoom, 5X hybrid zoom, 10x digital zoom! Watch out OnePlus! There is also a 20MP sensor nestled inside the notch of the display.

Both have NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. The Axon 10 Pro also has enhanced gaming features.

The 5G version uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem with a slot antenna design and a Smart SAR solution. To keep the device cool, ZTE uses liquid-cooling technology and “composite phase-change thermal materials” which allows the CPU to run at high temperatures for long periods without a drop in performance.

The Axon 10 Pro has a 4000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4+ and wireless charging. It also has a USB Type-C 3.1 port for high-speed data transfer. The phone comes in only one color – Blue and is also covered in glass on the back. It runs MiFavor 9.1 based on Android Pie out of the box and has its own built-in AI assistant.

The Axon 10 Pro 5G rank at the number one spot, ahead of other Snapdragon 855-powered models. The device isn’t ahead of the pack because of an overclocked chipset but because of the memory storage, it packs. The Axon 10 Pro 5G features the new F2FS file system. The system was developed by Samsung specifically for use with flash storage, which makes it much faster than the ext4 used by most Androids (which was designed for HDDs). Samsung didn’t use the F2FS file system on the Galaxy S10+ instead, it stuck with the ext4 system for reasons best known to them. Google Pixel 3 uses the F2FS system but that is a Snapdragon 845-powered phone.

However, ZTE has confirmed today that the Axon 10 Pro 5G will be officially released in China on May 6.

The Axon 10 Pro is a good looking flagship featuring super thin bezels and a curved display. In fact, ZTE claims that the phone features the smallest chin among all flexible AMOLED displays in production. The chin is said to be just 1.8mm in thickness and complements the small waterdrop notch on top.
The leaked photo of the Axon 10 Pro shows the phone’s screen with the AnTuTu score on the screen. The device attained a total score of 383623 points. This score is higher than those of other Snapdragon 855-powered models that have been released so far. The Mi 9 Transparent Edition tops the chart with a score of 372072 points with the regular Mi 9 following behind with 371878 points. The easiest explanation to the towering score ascribed to the Axon 10 Pro is that the clock frequency may have been increased. ZTE’s R&D team did disclose that the device uses liquid-cooled technology and composite heat-dissipating heat storage materials to enable the processor to maintain high-frequency of operation for a long time.

Hence, it is speculated that the Blade V10 along with Blade V10 Vita may get unleashed at the MWC 2019. However, the major announcement from the company will be its first 5G flagship phone. However, there are no details available on the specs of the phone. There is a possibility that it could be powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset and its X50 LTE modem may bring support for 5G connectivity.

At the beginning of this month, a smartphone labelled as ZTE A2020 Pro was spotted on Geekbench benchmarking platform. The Geekbench listing of the phone did not confirm on the presence of Snapdragon 855. However, the single-core and multi-core tests were quite similar SD855 which suggested that the same chip could be powering the device.

The mysterious ZTE A2020 Pro could be the upcoming Axon 10 Pro smartphone. The ZTE Axon Pro 10 moniker has also been spotted on the database of Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) which indicates the device would be heading to Europe. There is a possibility that the handset may come in two variants such as a regular model with no 5G support and the other one enabled with 5G connectivity. Rumors have it that the first 5G phone from ZTE could be heading to Europe and China in the first half of 2019.

At the MWC 2019, ZTE is also expected to showcase its 5G indoor CEP that supports Wi-Fi 802.11ax technology with maximum download speeds of around 2 Gbps. It may carry support for 10G network ports for residential and office for using 5G connectivity indoors.

The company is now in the thick of plans to release a successor to the Axon 9 Pro. The device was spotted recently on GeekBench as ZTE A2020 Pro. The Axon 10 Pro moniker has now been confirmed by its listing on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) where it has just been certified.

The document clearly shows the GeekBench listed ZTE A2020 Pro will be known as Axon 10 Pro when it is eventually launched officially. The EEC listing doesn’t contain any other detail about the device but previous leaks including the GeekBench listing shows the Axon 10 Pro will pack a Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. The phone is expected to also run Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Further, the Axon 10 Pro is expected to utilise a 6.4-inch 1080p+ screen. The phone will also pack a 16MP+20MP dual camera on the rear as well as a 25MP selfie camera. The device will get its juice from a 4,300mAh battery with fast charging.

This year, its successor which is expected to be called the Axon 10 Pro may arrive earlier.

A ZTE phone has appeared on Geekbench and it is believed to be the Axon 10 Pro. It was benchmarked earlier today as the “ZTE ZTE A2020 Pro”.

The device runs Android 9 Pie and has 6GB of RAM. The benchmark scores – 3824 points for the single-core test and 10762 for the multi-core test – confirm it is powered by the Snapdragon 855 as they are similar to that of other Snapdragon 855 phones that have been benchmarked.

The Axon 9 Pro launched with a notched AMOLED display, support for wireless charging and Quick Charge 4+, and the series’ signature stereo Dolby Atmos speakers. We expect its successor to come with a redesigned display and the rest of the aforementioned specs. However, it will be nice to see it get a design overhaul that stands out from the competition. It will also be nice to get a non-pro variant.
