The Chinese manufacturer has not confirmed the number of Axon 40 models that will be unveiled tomorrow, but it appears that there could be as many as three devices: the Axon 40, Axon 40 Pro, and Axon 40 Ultra. Readers can visit the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/06/zte-axon-40-series-roundup-launch-date-specifications-design-more/">dedicated post on the Axon 40 series roundup</a> to know what to expect from these devices.</p>
<h3><strong>How to watch the ZTE Axon 40 series launch event</strong></h3>
<p>The Axon 40 series launch event will be held at 2 PM (local time) tomorrow. The event will be held in China, and it will be live-streamed through <a href="https://weibo.com/u/2063264115">ZTE’s Weibo handle</a>. It is unclear whether ZTE has any plans to sell the Axon 40 lineup outside China. Hence, there is no word on its global launch.</p>
<h3><strong>ZTE Axon 40 series – what to expect?</strong></h3>
<figure id="attachment_458641" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-458641" style="width: 1866px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-458641" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render.jpg?x10805" alt="ZTE Axon 40 Ultra render" width="1866" height="1262" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render.jpg 1866w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render-768x519.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render-1024x693.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render-696x471.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render-1068x722.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/ZTE-Axon-40-Ultra-render-621x420.jpg 621w" sizes="(max-width: 1866px) 100vw, 1866px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-458641" class="wp-caption-text">ZTE Axon 40 Ultra</figcaption></figure>
<p>It goes without saying that tomorrow’s major attraction could be the Axon 40 Pro flagship phone. ZTE is the only brand that has been launching phones with an under-display camera since 2020. The Axon 20 5G that debuted as the first phone with an in-screen camera could not capture top-notch selfies and one could easily see its front camera. However, the Axon 40 Pro’s under-display camera is almost invisible.</p>
<p>Thanks to rearranged pixel structure, the area where the front camera lies is said to be indistinguishable from the remaining part of the screen. This allows the phone to deliver a full-screen experience. In addition, the screen has extremely curved edges. Other notable features of the smartphone include the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> chipset and 64-megapixel triple rear cameras.</p>
<p>The Axon 40 lineup has other models such as the Axon 40 and Axon 40 Pro, but details on their specifications are not clear. For more information on each of these, please read our roundup post.</p>

The lineup will include as many as three models, such as the Axon 40, Axon 40 Pro, and Axon 40 Ultra. As many as four Axon 40 series of smartphones with model numbers A2023, A2023H, A2023BH, and A2023P are listed with specifications in the database of the TENAA certification platform. Among these, the A2023H model will be an <a href="o">enterprise edition phone</a>. Here is all the information on the specifications of the Axon 40 lineup.</p>
<h3><strong>Design and Display</strong></h3>
<p>The Axon 40 Ultra (<a href="http://zd.taf.org.cn/#/equipmentDetail?code=H49SvJYjVe7X%2B5NUgd40v2yBL%2F25XykEQXG%2FT5SKaiGBo%2FztAgz2rQSyMKZ7CVmWo0ly2Rcd7spVF2f7vZALPw%3D%3D">A2023P</a>) is the major highlight of the lineup. The OLED panel of the phone has extremely curved edges. It offers a truly full-screen experience since it is equipped with an under-display camera. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/04/zte-axon-40-pro-images-leak/">leaked shots of the Axon 40 Pro</a> revealed that it would be equipped with a centrally positioned punch-hole. The standard Axon 40 is also expected to sport the same front design.</p>

<p>The Axon 40 Pro reportedly features a 16-megapixel selfie camera and an OIS-assisted 108-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera unit. The Axon 40 seems to house a 44-megapixel front camera, and a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 5-megapixel triple rear cameras.</p>
<h3><strong>Hardware and Software</strong></h3>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> chipset will power the Axon 40 Ultra. It is unclear which processor will power the Axon 40 Pro and Axon 40 smartphones. The entire series is expected to arrive with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. So far, we&#8217;ve seen a few models getting certified on TENAA and 3C websites, and some of those models are believed to be Axon 40 phones. In the newest development of the ZTE Axon 40 series, the brand itself has teased the phone&#8217;s display.</p>
<p>ZTE has shared a teaser poster for the upcoming ZTE Axon 40 series and we get to see the front panel of the phone. The smartphone has a full-screen display with no side bezels or noticeable camera holes. This means that the phone is using the under-display camera (UDC) technology similar to its predecessor, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-axon-30-5g/#:~:text=ZTE%20Axon%2030%205G%20is,The%20PPI%20density%20is%20388.">Axon 30</a>. The phone also appears to have narrow bezels on top and bottom.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-454779 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-Axon-40-teaser-e1650010438185.png?x10805" alt="ZTE Axon 40" width="416" height="778" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-Axon-40-teaser-e1650010438185.png 416w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-Axon-40-teaser-e1650010438185-160x300.png 160w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-Axon-40-teaser-e1650010438185-225x420.png 225w" sizes="(max-width: 416px) 100vw, 416px" /></p>
<p>Well, what we see on the teaser poster is a computerized image and the phone&#8217;s front may not be as similar as what we see here. However, if the screen on the Axon 40 turns out to be somewhat the same as the poster, it could be one of the phones from ZTE with the highest screen-to-body ratio.</p>
<p>Other than this, previously an Axon 40 phone with a model number A2023BH was<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/23/zte-axon-40-full-specifications-revealed-through-tenaa-appearance/"> spotted</a> on TENAA certification. However, its selfie camera was visible on the front. It could be that this device will be another variant without an under-display camera.</p>
<figure id="attachment_445151" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-445151" style="width: 960px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-445151 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/ZTE-Axon-40.jpg?x10805" alt="ZTE Axon 40" width="960" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/ZTE-Axon-40.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/ZTE-Axon-40-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/ZTE-Axon-40-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/ZTE-Axon-40-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/ZTE-Axon-40-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-445151" class="wp-caption-text">ZTE Axon 40 TENAA images</figcaption></figure>
<p>To those unaware, the ZTE Axon 30 that launched last year had three models &#8211; Axon 30, Axon 30 Pro, and Axon 30 Ultra. Only the vanilla model had the UDC technology, others relied on the punch-hole camera. Similarly, this year too, we might see the A2023BH(Axon 40 model) with a visible selfie camera, while the variant that the brand teased could be a device with UDC technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-454783 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C.png?x10805" alt="A2023P " width="1097" height="349" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C.png 1097w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C-300x95.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C-768x244.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C-1024x326.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C-696x221.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/ZTE-A2023P-3C-1068x340.png 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1097px) 100vw, 1097px" /></p>
<p>In addition to this, we recently saw a ZTE phone on 3C and Geekbench certification with model number A2023P. Now, this model number is similar to the A2023BH model hinting that this could be another Axon 40 model. The phone has 80W fast charging and is powered by the<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1"> Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC</a>, as per certifications.</p>
