<p>Two months after its release, ZTE has begun registration for an Android Pie beta program for users in China that also brings MiFavor 9. Interested participants are invited to sign up <a href="http://www.myzte.cn/thread-361805-1-1.html">here</a> with details such as their IMEI, WeChat ID, and phone number.</p>
<p>Registration for the beta update program began a few weeks ago but it appears no one has received the update yet which is supposed to arrive as an OTA. Nevertheless, we expect the update will bring a bunch of new MiFavor features other than those of Android 9 itself to the Axon 9 Pro.</p>
<p>The Axon 9 Pro was launched at IFA back in August but didn&#8217;t go on sale until November. It has a 6.21-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2248 resolution and support for HDR10. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 which is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.</p>

<p>The phone comes with a 12MP primary rear camera and a 20MP ultra-wide secondary camera. It also has a 20MP selfie camera. The Axon 9 Pro keeps the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner from its predecessor but adds wireless charging and an IP68 rating. It packs a 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4+. It also has stereo speakers but is missing an audio jack.</p>

<p>The AXON 9 Pro features a 6.21-inch notch screen design with a resolution of 2248×1080pixels with a screen aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The premium design includes a glass back panel. The device is equipped with a vertical dual rear camera setup as well as a rear fingerprint sensor. <p>As stated earlier, there is equally an 8GB + 256GB storage variant which is on reservation on ZTE Mall. The 3999 yuan ($578) price tag is dope for an 8GB RAM device teaming up with 256GB of storage. This is even cheaper than the price of the 6GB+128GB variant which comes with a price tag of 649 euros (~$757, 5201 yuan) in Europe. Unfortunately, this super price tag will only be available in China. Hopefully, the device will also hit India with a competitive price tag.</p>

The device was first unveiled at IFA Berlin 2018 last month with a stunning design along with a hefty price tag. The device is yet to be launched in China but that won&#8217;t be for long. ZTE has officially rolled out reservation activities for the Axon 9 Pro for the Chinese market. The reservation page on<a href="https://www.myzte.com/a9pro.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> ZTE Mall</a> interestingly contains a countdown which ends in about 4 days time.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/axon-9-pro.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-216295" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/axon-9-pro.png?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 9 Pro" width="843" height="456" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/axon-9-pro.png 843w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/axon-9-pro-300x162.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/axon-9-pro-768x415.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 843px) 100vw, 843px" /></a></p>
<p>Something tells us the flagship phone will be launched on October 15 when the countdown will end. This falls in line with an earlier rumour that the device will be launched in China by mid-October. The reservation page only lists the price tag as x999 yuan for the 8GB+256GB variant meaning the price is still being kept secret. It will likely be announced officially during the launch. However, the 6GB+128GB variant was announced with a price tag of 649 euros (~$757) in Europe. The price in China will likely be slightly lower.</p>

<p>Some of the features that make the Axon 9 Pro tickle include the Snapdragon 845 chipset at the helms as well as its IP 68 level water and dust resistant premium-looking build. The camera setup also promises some firepower with a 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel vertical dual camera combo at the rear and a 20-megapixel selfie snapper up front.</p>

There is the school of thought which felt the Chinese company could have put a lesser price tag on the model since the company is still dealing with credibility issues. ZTE would have none of that, though, as the Axon 9 Pro comes with a price tag of 649 euros (~$757). Apparently, the company still enjoys a good customer patronage in Germany where the model will first be released this September. Russia is another of the company&#8217;s stronghold in addition to China. Apart from the U.S where there is a government-induced apathy, the model should launch globally soon. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-209147" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Axon 9 Pro" width="690" height="468" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4-1-300x203.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>We take a look at the Axon 9 Pro design from these pictures that were scooped from Weibo. In truth, the Axon 9 Pro design isn&#8217;t in anyway inspiring but looks generic. However, the build still retains the quality for which the Axon series is known. The Axon 9 Pro utilises a glass back design. The Axon 9 Pro has an expansive 6.21-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display sporting a resolution of 2,248 x 1,080 display. It is no longer news that it packs an iPhone X-like notch on the display. The mammoth size brings a high chance of the phone getting dropped which could lave the screen broken. We believe there is some form of Gorilla Glass onboard. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-209145" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2-1.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 9 Pro" width="690" height="499" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2-1-300x217.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The device comes with an IP 68 level water and dust resistance and as a result of this, ZTE had to sacrifice the 3.5mm audio port. However, there is a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. The Axon 9 Pro also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on such a giant size body. The aspect ratio may actually make for easy access to the fingerprint sensor. There is a rear camera setup which is stacked vertically at the top left corner<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-8.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-209151" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-8.jpg?x44794" alt="Axon 9 Pro" width="690" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-8.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-8-300x211.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-8-255x180.jpg 255w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>Another impressive aspect is the big 4,000mAh battery which firs up the device. ZTE claims the battery can deliver up to 24 hours battery power in just an hour. See more pictures from below.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-6.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-209149" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-6.jpg?x44794" alt="Axon 9 Pro" width="690" height="480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-6.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-6-300x209.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-7.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-209150" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-7.jpg?x44794" alt="Axon 9 Pro" width="690" height="949" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-7.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-7-218x300.jpg 218w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-5.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-209148" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-5-492x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Axon 9 Pro" width="492" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-5-492x1024.jpg 492w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-5-144x300.jpg 144w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-5.jpg 690w" sizes="(max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px" /></a><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-1-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-209144" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-1-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Axon 9 Pro" width="690" height="461" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-1-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-1-1-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>

Dubbed Axon 9 Pro, the new model comes with a powerful specs lineup as well as a top of the art design. We take a look at the specifications and design of the flagship model.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-208923" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 9 Pro" width="840" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-2-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /></a></p>
<h3><strong>ZTE Axon 9 Pro Specifications</strong></h3>
<p>The Axon 9 Pro ticks most of the boxes for the perfect smartphone design, well, except you are not a fan of the notch design. The device packs an expansive display with a notch similar to that of the iPhone X which we have to thank for this seemingly ravaging virus. It may have been preferable if the company had gone with the water drop notch as seen on the OPPO R17 but that isn&#8217;t the case. The notch on the Axon 9 Pro is as wide as the iPhone X&#8217;s and it houses some key components of the smartphone. The device packs a 6.21-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display sporting a resolution of 2,248 x 1,080 display. The display also comes with a feature which ZTE calls &#8220;Axon Vision&#8221; and this is basically a compendium of different features for the FHD+ display. The Axon 9 Pro also packs a glass back and the body is IP 68 level water and dust resistant. As a result of the water-resistant build, there is no 3.5mm audio jack onboard.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-208926" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 9 Pro" width="840" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-4-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /></a></p>
<p>The Axon 9 Pro is powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s latest Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 6GB of RAM while there is 128GB of storage on the device. Sadly, the storage isn&#8217;t expandable so, you have to make do with cloud storage or use a PC if the storage is running low. The device also comes with a new feature which is called “motion video optimization” capable of boosting video content to 60fps by inserting extra frames into content with a lower frame rate. In addition, there is HDR10 support and an RGB sensor for automatically adjusting the colour temperature based on the environment.</p>

<p>For photography, the Axon 9 Pro utilises dual cameras at the rear which comprise a 12MP f/1.75 main camera sensor with 1.4-micron individual pixel size and optical image stabilization and a 20MP secondary sensor. The secondary sensor isn&#8217;t a telephoto lens but a super wide-angle (130 degrees) lens. At the front, the model packs a 20MP sensor for selfies and which can be used to unlock the smartphone (Face Unlock). The cameras are said to bring AI photo and video enhancements with features such as facial recognition. Keeping the lights on is a generous 4,000mAh battery which ZTE claims can deliver up to 24 hours battery power in just 1 hour. The Axon 9 Pro gets its interface from the Android 8.1 Oreo OS with an overlay of ZTE&#8217;s own custom skin. the company hinted that Android Pie is in the works.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-208924" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-3.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 9 Pro" width="840" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-3.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Pro-3-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /></a></p>
<h3><strong>Axon 9 Pro Pricing and Availability</strong></h3>
<p>ZTE Axon 9 Pro comes with a rather steep price tag of 649 euros (~$757) and will launch in Germany by the end of September. The device will also be launched in China and Russia at later dates before anywhere else.</p>

We are seeing signs of recovery, like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/06/zte-is-back-blade-v9-finally-listed-in-china-goes-on-sale-soon/">ZTE Blade V9 going on sale this month</a> and the recent <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/20/zte-axon-9-launch-august-30/">confirmation of Axon 9 Pro launch on August 30</a> at IFA 2018.  Now, the same phone has been spotted on the benchmarking platform Geekbench, revealing a few details about the hardware inside.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-207829" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench.png?x44794" alt="zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench" width="727" height="606" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench.png 940w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench-300x250.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench-768x641.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/zte-axon-9-pro-geekbench-95x80.png 95w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>The phone went through Geekbench under the name <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/zte">ZTE</a> A2019G Pro and scores pretty well. In fact, with the base clock speed of 1.77GHz and single-core and multi-core scores of 2399 and 8785 respectively, we know for sure that the upcoming Axon flagship will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset. The Axon series has always featured the top-end Snapdragon chipsets (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-axon-7/">Axon 7</a> had SD820 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-axon-7s/">Axon 7S</a> came with SD821), so the new flagship was expected to come with SD845 on board. The listing also confirms that there will be 6GB of RAM inside.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Poster.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-207537" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Poster.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 9 Poster" width="640" height="305" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Poster.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/ZTE-Axon-9-Poster-300x143.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>A recently leaked poster of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/axon">Axon</a> 9 Pro has also revealed its potential design. Its actually disappointing to see that the phone will feature a generic design. So, you have dual cameras at the back, arranged vertically with a flash underneath. Then there&#8217;s the Axon logo along with the ZTE logo below. The poster reveals the Blue color version of the device, but there should be a couple of other options too. Coming to the front, the Axon 9 comes with a notched display, with a chin below. The notch is relatively big, much like the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/"> iPhone X</a> or the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8">Mi 8</a>, which adds the possibility of IR port for face recognition.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><strong>RELATED: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/10/zte-trademarks-axon-9-axon-9-pro-and-more/">ZTE Trademarks Axon 9, Axon 9 Pro and More</a></strong></div></div>
<p>The ZTE teaser for the Axon 9 Pro had the 5G logo on top, which could hint at some kind of 5G support. However, with SD845 and its X20 LTE modem inside, its unlikely that we will see this flagship rock support for the next generation standard. So, don&#8217;t keep your hopes too high!</p>
<p>We await more details as the launch date nears.</p>

The Chinese manufacturer has now confirmed through another poster that it will be debuting Axon 9 Pro soon later this month. It has also revealed that the smartphone will be sporting a design that is very similar to the Apple iPhone X.</p>

<p>Few months ago, ZTE spotted <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/10/zte-trademarks-axon-9-axon-9-pro-and-more/">trademarking Axon 9 and Axon 9 Pro monikers</a>. Moreover, earlier rumors had claimed that the Axon 9 would be sporting an 18:9 aspect ratio display. ZTE is yet to confirm on the existence of the Axon 9, but the Axon 9 Pro poster reveals it will be sporting a notched display design and vertical dual cameras like the iPhone X. The back panel of the phone is equipped with a fingerprint scanner. There is a possibility that ZTE may announce Axon 9 as well as Axon 9 Pro at IFA 2018.</p>
<p>There is no information available on the specifications of the Axon 9 Pro, but it is very likely to feature Snapdragon 845 SoC. The handset will be arriving as the successor of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/24/zte-axon-9-successor-zte-axon-7-confirms-zte-ceo/">older and well-received Axon 7 smartphone.</a> The below image belongs to the Axon 9 that were <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/12/zte-axon-9-images-specifications-leaked-launch-nearing/">released six months ago</a>.</p>

Depending on what you think about the phone, you won&#8217;t have to worry about it until “after 2018” when it is expected to launch. The focus should instead be on the next Axon phone set to launch this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-184022 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/ZTE-Axon-9-Trademark.png?x44794" alt="" width="728" height="580" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/ZTE-Axon-9-Trademark.png 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/ZTE-Axon-9-Trademark-300x239.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>ZTE is expected to release a new Axon phone this year. Apart from a word of mouth confirmation from the CEO and alleged leaked photos and specs, there&#8217;s been no other info on the phone called the Axon 9 until today.</p>
<p>A document from the Eurasian Economic Union has revealed that ZTE has trademarked the Axon 9 name along with an Axon 9 Pro. So it is safe to assume that we will be getting two Axon phones. While there is a chance they might launch together, they also may not. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-axon-7/">Axon 7</a> which has four variants launched over a span of almost 12 months.</p>

<p>The document also reveals some other names trademarked by ZTE. There is the ZTE Blade A531 which should be a more powerful variant of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/09/zte-a530-silently-launches-with-5-45-hd-screen-for-%c2%a5799-127/">A530</a> we covered yesterday. There is also the Blade A3 (already announced), Blade A7, and Blade A7 VITA. All these phones are expected to launch this year while the Blade A3 may be arriving in more markets.</p>
