iQOO Neo 6

In this price range, the iQOO Neo 6 is undoubtedly one of the best options a prospective buyer can consider when buying a phone under 30,000 INR. It sports a 6.62 inch FHD+ AMOLED display that has a 120Hz refresh rate. But, its most notable feature is the inclusion of a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC that is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The device runs on Android 12 OS and is powered by a large 4,700mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging as well.

For cameras, the Chinese company is offering a 64 megapixel triple camera setup on the rear. So all in all, its a pretty solid pick in this price tag thanks to its great specifications and relatively affordable price tag. It is currently listed on Amazon India for a price of 29,999 INR for the 8GB + 128GB model. Another iQOO phone that you can consider is the iQOO 7 that has a similar price tag and also feature the Snapdragon 870. However, this variant is a bit older so the newer model will have longer software support.

Motorola Edge 30

Motorola has had a strong performance in the mid range segment and its latest Edge 30 is another great option for those that prefer a stock Android experience with their smartphones. It sports a 6.55 inch pOLED display that has a FHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC and it runs on Android 12 OS out of the box.

Vivo V23

Within the 30,000 INR segment, flagship smartphones aren’t as common and we already listed the iQOO Neo 6, which had some top notch specs. Although, Vivo has a handset that offers a premium experience through its design. The Vivo V23 features a Fluorite AG Glass that glitters when light is reflected on it. This rear panel is surrounded by a metallic frame. On the front, the smartphone sports a 6.44 inch FHD+ AMOLED display that has a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.

Under the hood, the device packs the Dimensity 920 SoC that is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Although its unfortunate that it does not support 5G networking, it still has a great price to spec ratio and is definitely a worthwhile consideration.

POCO X4 Pro 5G

Under this price bracket, we can expect to see Chinese handsets dominating the segment, with the POCO X4 Pro 5G being one of them. Talking about its specs first, it sports a 6.67 inch FHD+ AMOLED panel that supports 120Hz refresh rate on the front, while the rear features a 64 megapixel quad camera setup on a large module. Under the hood, it houses a Snapdragon 695 SoC and is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that supports 67W fast charging as well.

Notably, the X4 Pro model is basically a rebranded Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, with a fresh coat of paint a slightly different rear design. Since it is based on the MIUI platform, it even supports bootloader unlocking, which lets enthusiasts customize their device to a greater degree thanks to custom ROMs. The company has always placed a focus on the aesthetics of their phones and the X4 Pro is undoubtedly one of the more attractive looking models on this list. Samsung Galaxy M33 5G

While Chinese brands do have a strong hold in the segment, Samsung also has a diverse portfolio of mid range handsets from its Galaxy M series. Interestingly, it is by far one of the cheapest entries as well with its price starting from 15,499 INR on Amazon for its 4GB + 128GB option.

Despite having an unsteady footing over the last couple of years, Motorola has managed to carve its own space in the smartphone market again. Its mid range handset portfolio has seen success in certain regions including India, with the Moto G series still being a popular choice for users looking for a new stock Android experience. Last week, GSMA hosted the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2022 in Barcelona, Spain. However, unlike previous years, there weren’t many big launches. That’s because companies now prefer to announce their important devices at their own annual conferences.

Anyway, there were some 5 smartphones that caught our attention. We have compiled them in this article. Three of them are from separate brands, while two of them are from the same brand. These OEMs are HONOR, OPPO, realme, and POCO. 

With that being said, let us take a look at these phones one by one.

Best Smartphones at MWC 2022

HONOR Magic4 Pro

Our pick for the star of Mobile World Congress 2022 is none other than HONOR Magic4 Pro. The latest flagship smartphone from HONOR offers almost all the high-end features one can expect.

The device sports a glass sandwich housing with a metal frame. It flaunts a 6.81-inch 10-bit curved OLED LTPO display with a resolution of 1312×2848 pixels, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and a pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing cameras. The panel is not only HDR10+ certified but also IMAX Enhanced.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It also comes with an independent security chip and an independent display chip for always-on HDR as well as MEMC.

Though the handset houses a large circular module on the rear, there are only three cameras – 50MP wide lens, 50MP ultra-wide lens, and 64MP 3.5x telephoto lens. The remaining two holes are for a flicker sensor and an 8×8 dTOF laser focusing system. On the front, it has a 12MP shooter and a 3D depth sensor.

Other features of the HONOR Magic4 Pro include IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, dual stereo speakers, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, Magic UI 6 based on Android 12, 4,500mAh battery, 100W fast wired charging, 100W fast wireless charging, and 5W wireless reverse charging.

The device is offered in four colors (cyan, gold, black, orange) and starts at €1099 outside mainland China. Its availability will be revealed closer to the release.

OPPO Find X5 Pro

Unlike the HONOR Magic4 Pro, the OPPO Find X5 Pro was not announced at MWC 2022.  The company unveiled it a few days ago but showcased it at the GSMA-hosted conference.

The successor of OPPO Find X3 Pro retains the design language from its predecessor with some tweaks. The Glaze Black version sports a glass back, while the Ceramic White variant flaunts a ceramic rear panel. Both have a metal frame.

The phone sports a 6.7-inch 10-bit LTPO 2.0 curved AMOLED display with a resolution of 3216 × 1440 pixels, up to 120Hz refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 525 PPI. It has a punch-hole at the top left corner and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

The handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. There’s also a self-developed MariSilicon X chipset for image processing. As for software, it boots ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12.

It arrives with a triple rear camera system powered by Hasselblad. The setup includes a 50MP primary sensor with 5-axis OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide unit,  and a 13MP 2x telephoto snapper. On the front, it has a 32MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

Other features include dual stereo speakers, in-screen fingerprint sensor, 5,000mAh battery, 80W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The OPPO Find X5 Pro is priced at €1,300 for a sole 12GB+256GB memory configuration in Europe. It will go on sale on March 14

realme GT 2 Pro

The realme GT 2 Pro is the only old handset is the list. It made its debut in China in January. However, it was announced for Europe at MWC 2022. The device is the first proper flagship smartphone from realme.

The phone’s back is made of biopolymer to offer a paper-like touch and feel. Whereas, its frame is made of metal. Despite featuring a different body material, it is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC as other premium Android smartphones.

The chipset is coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. As far as software is concerned, the handset ships with realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12.

One of the interesting features of the phone is its 6.7-inch display. This 10-bit flat LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel has a resolution of 3216 x 1440 pixels and up to 120Hz refresh rate, 1000Hz touch sampling rate as well as 1,,400 nits peak brightness. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, it has a punch-hole at the top left corner and a fingerprint sensor with support for heart rate monitoring underneath it.

Apart from a great display, the handset also comes with an equally impressive 50MP (Sony IMX766 with OIS) + 50MP (150° ultra-wide) + microscope lens triple camera system on the rear and a 32MP Sony IMX615 front-facing camera. Other features include dual stereo speakers, a 5,000mAh battery, and 65W fast wired charging.

The realme GT2 Pro is priced at €749 and €849 for 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB memory variants respectively in Europe. It is already up for sale in select regions.

POCO X4 Pro 5G

The next device is our list is POCO X4 Pro 5G, which is a budget offering. Despite being a rebranded Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G, we considered it to be one of the best smartphones at MWC 2022. Because it only looks unique (subjective) but also costs only €269 and €319 for 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB versions respectively (early bird pricing).

Talking about highlights, it flaunts a glass sandwich design (flat plastic frame) and is built around a 6.67-centered punch-hole FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 395 PPI, and 1,200 nits peak brightness. It is run by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

For photography and videography, there’s a 108MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple rear camera system and a 16MP front-facing camera. Other features include dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a hybrid MicroSD card slot, an IR blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IP53 rating.

Last but not least, it boots MIUI 13 for POCO based on Android 11 and gets its juice from a 5,000mAh battery, which has support for 67W fast charging.

POCO M4 Pro

The final phone is our list is POCO M4 Pro. It is even more affordable (early bird pricing) than the POCO X4 Pro 5G as it is priced at only €199 (6GB + 128GB) and €249 (8GB + 128GB). It is a rebadged variant of the Redmi Note 11S, which we consider better than the Redmi Note 11 Pro in terms of value.

The handset’s body is entirely made of plastic but still sports a 6.43-inch centered punch-hole AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 409 PPI, up to 90Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits peak brightness level. It is powered by MediaTek Helio G96 SoC coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

It arrives with a 64MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple rear camera setup and a 16MP front-facing camera. It runs MIUI 13 based on Android 11 and is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

Other features include an IP53 rating, dual stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a dedicated MicroSD card slot, and an IR blaster.

Despite its great price, you get all the power of the Apple A13 Bionic chipset: the same found on the iPhone 11 lineup. Further, the phone packs an amazing dual 12 MP single camera with OIS (the same sensor as the iPhone lineup too) and a great selfie camera, but no secondary sensors. On the other hand, the phone has a pretty outdated design: it still features Touch ID and it comes with thick bezels. But it is very compact thanks to its 4.7-inch display: the smallest among last-generation flagships.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite and Mi Note 10 Lite

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 LiteThe Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite is the most affordable last-generation 5G phone available in Europe, yet it is powered by the amazing Snapdragon 765G mobile platform. Thanks to street prices, it is available for less than €450 in its 8/128 GB configuration. This device is also known in China as the Oppo K7 5G and it has both an audio jack and NFC. Realme X50 5G

The Realme X50 5G recently hitten the global market with a €349 listing price but it is different from the Chinese Realme X50: it is actually the X50m rebranded. It can become incredibly affordable (more or less like the Mi 10 Lite 5G) thanks to street prices and it offers a display with a very high 120 Hz refresh rate. Other specs include a Snapdragon 765G and a 4200 mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

Huawei P40 Lite 5G

Huawei P40 Lite 5G can be considered the opposite choice to the Google Pixel 4a because it does not even come with Google services installed. But its price still makes it a great alternative to the Google Pixel 4a. This handset sports a very powerful chipset: the Kirin 820 5G, as well as a good 64 MP quad camera. The first quarter research report released by Strategy Analytics shows that the Samsung Galaxy A51 is at the top of the global smartphone market in the first quarter of 2020 in terms of net shipment.

According to Strategy Analytics data, Samsung shipped a total of 6 million units of the Galaxy A51 to grab a 2.3% share of the market. The Galaxy A51 was released by Samsung in December last year and is indeed a premium midrange model. The A-series is Samsung’s response to a declining market occasioned by cheaper models from Chinese OEMs a couple of years back. The rejigged A-series and other midrange series have been a huge success. SA says the Galaxy A71 (4G) is popular in all regions, particularly across Europe and Asia.

The budget Redmi 8 is ranked as the second best-selling model with a market share of 1.9%. The research firm disclosed that Xiaomi’s Redmi smartphone range is selling very well in India and China and increasingly across Europe.

Samsung’s Galaxy S20+ came in at the third position with a 1.7 per cent share. The Samsung flagship is notably the only super-premium model which appeared in the top-six ranking.

Other models in the top 6 chart include the Galaxy A10s with a 1.6 or cent share, the Redmi Note 8 also at 1.6 % share. The Galaxy A20s completes the top 6 with a 1.4% share.

The data also shows that consumers’ affordability for rising Android smartphone prices has also increased.

Linda Sui, Director at Strategy Analytics, said, “Global smartphone shipments reached a total of 275 million units in Q1 2020. The Android segment accounted for a dominant 86 per cent share of all smartphones shipped worldwide in the quarter. The vast majority of smartphones sold globally today are Android models.”

We are talking about the Reno Ace 2: VP Brian Shen confirmed that the phone will be official on April 13. Most of the specifications has already been revealed thanks to a TENAA listing. According to the Chinese regulatory agency, Oppo Reno Ace 2 will sport a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It will be a punch-hole display with a 16 MP front camera embedded. On the rear side, there will be a quad-camera setup including a 48 MP primary lens, an 8 MP lens and a pair of 2 MP sensors. The sensors will be included in a round-shaped camera module with a dual LED flash on its right. Under the hood, there will be a 2.8 GHz octa-core processor, most likely the Snapdragon 865 paired with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro

The OnePlus 8 lineup will be officially announced on Tuesday, April 14. The event will be live-streamed and it will begin at 11 AM EDT, as officially confirmed by the company. OnePlus will unveil at least two variants of the new series: OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. But according to reports, the company will also launch a more affordable variant called OnePlus Z. Both OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform supporting 5G connectivity. They will come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 internal storage, as well as MEMC technology. They will boast 90 and 120 Hz Fluid AMOLED display, respectively. The standard version will provide a 1080p resolution, while the Pro variant will be Quad HD+. The day after the launch of the OnePlus 8 series, on April 15, another brand will unveil its new flagships: Honor. The brand brought to success by Huawei will unveil the new Honor 30 series composed of Honor 30 and 30 Pro. Last month, the company launched the affordable variant Honor 30S which is also the first smartphone equipped with the new Kirin 820 5G chipset. Honor 30 and 30 Pro will probably be equipped with the Kirin 990 5G SoC. The lineup will be released in four color variants: pink, blue, silver, and purple. iPhone SE 2020

On April 15, an Apple phone might steal the attention reserved for the Honor 30 series. We are talking about the new affordable iPhone which, according to the latest reports, will be called iPhone SE once again (2020 version). A screen protector listed on Apple’s online store confirmed the iPhone SE moniker. It seems like the new iPhone will have the same front panel as the iPhone 7 and 8, including a 4.7-inch display. There is still no official confirmation, but Huawei Nova 7 is likely to debut on April 23. That is what the latest reliable leak suggested. The Huawei Nova 7 series is supposed to include three devices: Nova 7 5G, Nova 7 Pro 5G, and Nova 7 SE 5G. The three variants are rumored to be fueled by three different processors: Kirin 985, Kirin 990 and Kirin 820. The Nova 7 SE could carry price tags between 2,000 Yuan (~$282) and 3,000 Yuan (~$423). The Nova 7 may cost around 3,000 Yuan and the Nova 7 Pro may reach a price range between 3,500 Yuan (~$493) and 4,000 Yuan (~$564).

Meizu 17

Meizu is going to celebrate its 17th anniversary by unveiling a new flagship: the Meizu 17. The company revealed that the phone will be launched sometime in April, but we still do not have an exact date. The handset is rumored to come with an OLED display sporting a Full HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with LPPDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 internal storage. Honor Play 4T Pro was certified by TENAA with a 6.3-inch AMOLED display sporting a Full HD+ resolution. It is equipped with a Kirin 810 chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. Realme Narzo 10 and 10A

Realme had scheduled the official launch of the new Narzo series in India for March 26, but the day before the launch, CEO Madhav Sheth announced that the launch has been postponed owing to the nationwide lockdown announced in India starting today. The lockdown is obviously related to the Coronavirus outbreak. The Narzo series might debut in April, but nothing has been announced yet. The device broke every record on AnTuTu benchmarks with a total score of over 633,000 points. Huawei P40 series – 26 March

The latest flagship smartphones of this month are probably coming by Huawei. The Chinese giant confirmed that the Huawei P40 series will be official on March 26 in Paris, France. It was confirmed by Richard Yu during the launch event of the new foldable phone Huawei Mate Xs. Just like the Samsung Galaxy S20 series, the Huawei P40 lineup should include three models, with the most advanced one called P40 Premium Edition. This variant will boast a penta-camera with 10x optical zoom thanks to a periscope telephoto lens. The Huawei P40 Pro should stop at 5x optical zoom and it should have a 52 MP main camera paired with a 40 MP cine shooter and an 8 MP telephoto camera. Huawei P40 should have the same three cameras, but the optical zoom should go up to 3x. The camera department will be co-engineered with Leica and the Huawei P40 will support the new Wi-Fi 6+ connectivity which can reach speeds up to 1,2 Gbps. The Huawei P40 will also bring dual mode 5G connectivity thanks to the Kirin 990 chipset.

Its name will be Poco X2 and it will launch globally. But it is not a new device: it is just a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 (not even the 5G version). As you probably understood if you are smartphone-addicted, it will not be a flagship smartphone. Redmi K30 4G sports a 6.67-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution. Vivo APEX 2020

Vivo APEX 2020 is the new concept phone by Vivo and it is supposed to be unveiled at MWC 2020. The Galaxy Fold is the long-awaited Samsung’s first foldable smartphone with a foldable display. We have been hearing about it for years and in 2019 it finally went on sale. After several delays and issues, now it is a finished and well-made product which people can buy all around the world. Thanks to an internal foldable OLED panel, Samsung Galaxy Fold is able to transform from a smartphone to a tablet reaching a screen diagonal of 7.3 inches. It uses a special plastic panel and a complex hinge and it also includes a smaller smartphone-like external display making it very compact and still usable while it is folded. It packs a total of six cameras, including a triple camera setup on the back, a dual front camera on the foldable display and a cover camera above the external display. Alongside Samsung, even Huawei announced its first foldable phone: the Huawei Mate X. But unlike the Galaxy Fold, it never hitten the global market and it was only launched in China. It means that when the smartphone is folded the panel doubles in two different displays. While it is unfolded, the full display has an 8-inch diagonal. Huawei P30 Pro

Huawei P30 Pro deserves a spot in the list of the most innovative smartphones of 2019 due to its camera department. Motorola Razr 2019

Motorola Razr 2019 is a revival of the iconic Motorola’s Razr phone which was one of the devices with the highest success in the era of feature phones. It has a clamshell design just like the old Razr, but it comes with a foldable display and that is what makes it incredibly innovative. It has a totally different form factor compared to the Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X and it does not transform into a tablet. Energizer Power Max P18K Pop looks more like a brick than a phone. It is the smartphone with the biggest battery ever and it is produced by a battery manufacturer and it was announced earlier this year, then crowdfunding. It is equipped with a huge 18,000 mAh battery which can provide up to 50 days of standby, up to 4 days of music playback and up to 2 days or video playback on a single charge. It even comes with a dual pop-up front camera and it can be used as a power bank. But it is 18 mm thick. That is probably what led the crowdfunding campaign to fail with just 11 backers and $15,005 out of $1.2 million gathered.

Last but not least, we want to mention the Surface Duo: Microsoft’s comeback in the smartphone market. I did not include it on the list because it will launch in 2020, but the company already announced several details about it. Lenovo Z6

We think Lenovo Z6 is definitely the most underrated affordable smartphone of 2019. If you do not agree, tell us one single phone offering the power of the Snapdragon 730 chipset for less than 200 bucks. The Lenovo Z6 is also equipped with an amazing display: an OLED panel with a 120 Hz sampling rate (but 60Hz refresh rate) just like the iPhone Xs. But it is very hard to find a so balanced mid-ranger at its price. First of all, it has a very nice hardware department (Snapdragon 730 and at least 6 GB of RAM) and a big 4000 mAh battery. It even packs pretty interesting cameras including a telephoto sensor. Further, it has an innovative design thanks to a notch-less display and a pop-up camera. Let’s go back to underrated flagship smartphones with the LG G8X ThinQ. It does not have any weak point and its price is also very interesting, yet it did not succeed. You can even get it with an accessory bringing an additional display, so it can be even considered an affordable alternative to foldable phones. Just like most of the LG phones, it has military certification and it is even waterproof. It offers top-notch performance thanks to the Snapdragon 855 chipset and UFS 2.1 storage. Honor 20 Pro

The U.S. ban changed a lot of things for Huawei. The company did not even launch the latest flagship series from its sub-brand in the European market. Huawei sales declined after the ban and the same happened to Honor. But the Honor 20 Pro is one of the most compact flagship smartphones and the best Android camera phone under 6.3-inch. It mounts a 48 MP quad camera with OIS, 3x optical zoom and a dedicated macro lens. Nubia Z20

The potentialities of a dual display are huge, but it seems most people do not think the same, given the small resonance of the Nubia Z20. The device is equipped with two displays: a traditional panel on the front and a smaller OLED panel on the back. Thanks to the secondary display it is easier to use the smartphone with one hand, you can save battery due to the lower resolution and you can even use the rear cameras as selfie cameras. Indeed, this device does not even pack a front camera in order to provide a truly full-screen experience. But it was incredibly nice rear cameras with a 48 MP main sensor (with OIS!), a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 16 MP ultrawide sensor. Its affordable price, the Snapdragon 855+ SoC and its big battery are contributing to making its value for money incredible, yet the public did not seem to appreciate it that much.

OnePlus Concept One

OnePlus will hold a special event at CES 2020 (Consumer Electronics Show) which will kick off in Las Vegas on January 7 and will last until January 10. CEO Pete Lau revealed that we will see something special at the event. Later on, Pete Lau confirmed that the company will unveil a new concept smartphone at CES 2020. It will be the first OnePlus concept phone, indeed the company called it OnePlus Concept One. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about the new concept phone: the company did not release any detail. Usually, concept phones are very innovative, so expect something revolutionary. According to hypotheses, OnePlus may unveil its first foldable phone. Redmi K30 Pro

A few days ago Xiaomi officially announced the Redmi K30 and K30 5G. Unlike a lot of people thought, the new line-up did not include a flagship-class variant but only mid-rangers. Even the K30 5G which supports 5G connectivity is a mid-ranger since it is fueled by the Snapdragon 765G chipset (the first Qualcomm’s midrange chipset with 5G). But this does not mean that there will not be any flagship in the Redmi K30 series. According to the latest report by a known leakster, the Redmi K30 Pro will launch in March 2020 and it will be amazing. It will be powered by the newly-announced Snapdragon 865 chipset: Qualcomm’s flagship SoC which will be on a lot of 2020 flagships.

The chipset will offer an integrated 5G modem: Snapdragon X55 with the support of SA and NSA standards. Earlier rumors suggested that Redmi K30 Pro will have a 120 Hz refresh rate just like its vanilla version, as well as a 6.67-inch panel with a Full HD+ resolution and a punch-hole design. The camera department will include a Sony IMX686 sensor with a 64 MP resolution, supported by a 13 MP ultrawide lens, an 8 MP telephoto lens and a 2 MP depth sensor. The front camera housed in the punch hole is said to have a 32 MP sensor and a secondary ToF 3D sensor. Redmi K30 Pro is rumored to sport a 4500 mAh battery with the support to a 30W fast charging technology.

Xiaomi Mi 10

We talked about the possible arrival of the Redmi K30 Pro in March with a Snapdragon 865 chipset. But it looks like the Redmi K30 Pro will not be the first Xiaomi phone equipped with the Snapdragon 865. At the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit Xiaomi’s co-founder Lin Bin announced that Xiaomi Mi 10 will be one of the first smartphones to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. And we also know that there will be a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro as Lin Bin officially confirmed it as well. An alleged Xiaomi Mi 10 was recently certified by 3C with 30W fast charging and we know that it will debut with MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. We also expect it to come with a 108 MP main camera and 5G support. Other than that, nothing is known about the specifications of Xiaomi Mi 10 and 10 Pro.

Redmi 9

Not only flagships: we had information even about an upcoming affordable smartphone coming in 2020. According to a report, Redmi 9 will be launched in early 2020 and it will debut initially in China, then it will expand to the Indian market later. The Redmi 9 is said to come with a 6.6-inch display and with a waterdrop notch. It seems it will be powered by the Helio G70 chipset by MediaTek: a toned down version of the Helio G90T found on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, but still providing high graphics performance. The SoC is expected to be paired with 4 GB of RAM and internal storage of 64 GB in the base configuration. Obviously, there will be other variants. Redmi 9 could debut with MIUI 11 and Android 10 out of the box just like the Xiaomi Mi 10.

OnePlus 8 series

OnePlus will officially launch the new OnePlus 8 series in Q2 2020, but a lot of detail about it already surfaced. For the first time after a year, the upcoming smartphone series will be composed of three models and it will include an affordable variant. Thanks to tipster we even know the rumored specs of the handsets. OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are said to house 6.4 and 6.7-inch displays respectively, with S-AMOLED E3 technology and curved sides.

They will be dual punch-hole display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, resolutions up to Quad HD+ with 1440 x 3140 pixels, and more. OnePlus 8 Lite is rumored to come with a 6.4-inch S-AMOLED E2 display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. All of them will include an in-display fingerprint scanner. OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 or 256 GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage depending on the chosen configuration. The OnePlus 8 Lite may pack a Dimensity 1000 SoC by MediaTek, 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage (UFS 3.0).

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro may feature a dual front camera with a 32 MP sensor and a 3D TOF sensor, while the OnePlus 8 Lite is said to come with a 16 MP front camera. On the OnePlus 8 Lite, there may also be a triple camera with a 48 MP main sensor, a 16 MP ultrawide sensor and a 12 MP telephoto lens (OIS and EIS included). OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are said to be even better camera phones with a 64 MP main sensor, a 20 MP ultrawide sensor, a 12 MP telephoto lens with the support to 5x optical zoom and a 3D TOF sensor (OIS and EIS included).

The battery may have a 4000 mAh capacity on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Lite, while OnePlus 8 Pro is said to pack a 4500 mAh battery with 35W fast charging. We should also see stereo speakers and glass backs with Gorilla Glass 5 and 6 protections, as well as a waterproof certification on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. Prices in China are rumored to start from about $528 for the OnePlus 8, $714 for the OnePlus 8 Pro and $428 for the OnePlus 8 Lite.

Samsung Galaxy S11

Just like every year, Samsung will unveil its main flagship line-up in Q1 2020, most likely in February. This year we are talking about the Samsung Galaxy S11 which may debut alongside a clamshell version of the Galaxy Fold. Samsung Galaxy S11 is rumored to sport a 108 MP sensor with 5x optical zoom and 9 in 1 pixel binning. We also expect it to come with a Snapdragon 865 chipset in the U.S. market and an Exynos 990 chipset in the European market, both with an integrated 5G modem. Samsung Galaxy S11 may scan up to two fingerprints simultaneously, its Plus version may pack a 5000 mAh battery manufactured by LG, and it should come with a punch hole placed at the center of the panel just like the Galaxy Note 10 series.

Oppo Find X2

Oppo is planning the launch of a perfect flagship smartphone in 2020. It will be the successor of the Find X and it will be called Find X2. The company already confirmed that it will launch in Q1 2020. Among its main focuses, there will be an amazing display with a higher refresh rate than the previous generation (we expect 120 Hz), as well as a higher resolution (probably Quad HD). Oppo Find X2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset and it will obviously support 5G networks thanks to a Snapdragon X55 integrated modem supporting sub-6GHz frequencies (but maybe not mmWave).

It might even come with a new in-display camera technology thanks to which the front camera will be really under the display and not in a punch hole. Oppo Find X2 will be one of the most amazing camera phones as it is tipped to come with Sony’s latest image sensor with all pixel omnidirectional PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), as well as the new 2×2 on-chip lens (OCL) solution. Realme X50

Alongside Xiaomi, even Realme is expected to release a mid-range series of smartphones with 5G support in Q1 2020 (January). The Realme X50 series will debut before the Chinese Spring Festival and it will include the brand’s first 5G smartphone. The device will probably be powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset with an integrated Snapdragon X52 5G modem carrying the support to both SA and NSA 5G standards. It will be the main rival of the Redmi K30 5G.

According to rumors, Realme X50 will sport a 6.44-inch AMOLED display and a quad rear camera including a Sony IMX686 main sensor with a 64 MP resolution and secondary lens with 8, 2 and 2 MP resolutions. The battery may have a 4500 mAh capacity and support VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology. It is said to come with up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, as well as ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 out of the box. The Realme X50 will also have a Youth Edition carrying a more affordable price. Obviously it will be a variant with a different chipset. The Realme X50 was supposed to go official this month, but now we know it will debut before January 26.

Huawei P40

Despite the issues which came from the U.S. ban, Huawei will unveil the P40 series in Q1 2020 and it will even launch it in Europe. The CEO Richard Yu already confirmed that it will be released in March 2020. The Huawei P40 will come with a “never seen” design and improved camera department. It will not run HarmonyOS, which is the new Huawei’s operating system based on Android. It will be still based on Android and it will run EMUI based on Android 10. But it will land in Europe without Google services. Instead, it will pack Huawei Mobile Services.

Oppo’s sub-brand is set to launch its first 5G smartphones in December 2019. However, the company still did not reveal the exact day in which they will be announced. Their names will be Realme X50 and X50 Youth Edition, both are said to boast 5G connectivity. According to rumors, on at least one of these phones there will be a Snapdragon 765 or 765G chipset with an integrated 5G modem. Expect a very interesting price tag just like every Realme device.

Redmi K30 series

Xiaomi will officially unveil the Redmi K30 series on December 10, as confirmed through an official teaser. It will be composed of Redmi K30 and K30 5G and the 5G variant will be fueled by the new Snapdragon 765G coming with an integrated 5G modem. Several leaks already showed the full design of the handsets. And according to leaks, the phone will sport a quad rear camera including a Sony IMX686 sensor with a 64 MP resolution, as well as an 8 MP sensor, a 5 MP sensor and a 2 MP sensor. The battery will have a 4500 mAh capacity with the support to 30W Fast Flash Charge technology, while the display will be a 6.67-inch panel with a 2nd-generation punch hole that has a 4.38 mm diameter. Oppo Reno 3 series

The Oppo Reno 3 line-up will be announced in December and, once again, it should not include a flagship. There will be two variants: Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro. As mentioned, the latter will not be a flagship, but it will still support 5G connectivity. Indeed, it is said to pack a Snapdragon 765 or 765G processor with an integrated 5G modem. The company confirmed that it will come with a 4025 mAh battery in a chassis that is just 7.7 mm thin. And there will be a punch-hole display instead of a shark fin pop-up camera. The phone is rumored to come with a quad camera including a 60 MP main lens. An alleged Oppo Reno 3 was certified by TENAA a few days ago.

Samsung Galaxy A 2020 series

On December 12, Samsung will take the wraps off the new Samsung Galaxy A 2020 line-up. We expect to see at least two devices on December 12: Galaxy A51 and A71. But a few days ago we learned that Samsung is even developing the Galaxy A11, A31 and A41. On the new Galaxy A 2020 series there will be a feature present only on Samsung flagships until now: a punch-hole display with a front camera placed at the center, just like the Galaxy Note 10 series. On the rear side of the Galaxy A51 and A71, there will probably be an L-shaped camera module housing four sensors.

Vivo X30 5G

Vivo confirmed that its next upper-midrange series Vivo X30 will officially debut on December 16 in China. The Vivo X30 series will include two models: Vivo X30 and X30 Pro, with support for SA and NSA 5G modes. The phones will be the first to be powered by the new Samsung Exynos 980 chipset: the world’s first SoC with an integrated 5G modem. The smartphone comes with a quad camera setup on the back at the top-left corner, including a periscope lens and the support for 60x super zoom. There will also be a punch-hole display with a cut-out at the top right corner, and we expect the support to 33W fast charging.

Realme XT 730G

The day after the launch of the Vivo X30 series, Realme will launch a new variant of its Realme XT mid-ranger in India. Its name is Realme XT 730G: it is essentially a Realme XT with a Snapdragon 730G chipset, a better front camera, and a faster charging technology. In case you still did not understand, it is a rebranded version of the device known as the Realme X2 in the global market. Alongside Realme XT 730G, Realme will also launch a pair of true wireless earbuds.

Vivo iQOO Neo 855 Racing Edition

Yesterday Vivo announced the iQOO Neo 855 Racing Edition and it will be officially available in the Chinese market starting from December 12. It is a variant of the iQOO Neo 855 with a stronger processor: the Snapdragon 855+, and 33W fast charging. It comes in two memory configurations: one with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage and a 12/128 GB version. The prices for the Chinese market roughly translate into $368 and $396, respectively.

After six hectic days, IFA 2019 is coming to an end. A lot of companies announced their most innovative tech products and several smartphones manufacturers took the wraps off their new flagships and affordable devices. There were so many new smartphones at the event that it became hard to remember each of them, even when it comes to the most important ones. That is why we decided to pick up all the most interesting smartphones and feature phones launched at IFA 2019 and collect them in one article. Samsung Galaxy A90 5G

A lot of people would never expect Samsung to announce a brand new 5G flagship smartphone at IFA 2019, but the Korean giant did it, a few days after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series in the global market. Unlike all the other handsets from the A-series, the Galaxy A90 5G is the only flagship not belonging to the S or Note line-ups. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and it comes with a wide 6.7-inch display boasting the AMOLED technology and a Full HD+ resolution. It also sports a triple rear camera and a 4500 mAh battery.

Nokia 6.2 and 7.2

Both Nokia 6.2 and 7.2 are new mid-rangers by HMD Global. Among their highlights, there are HDR displays and a rear triple camera equipped with Carl Zeiss on the Nokia 7.2. They both come with 600-series Qualcomm’s chipset: Snapdragon 636 and Snapdragon 660, respectively. And they both have 3500 mAh batteries, as well as Android One out of the box based on Android 9 Pie. They are going to hit the market with price tags of €200 and €300, respectively.

Nokia 2720 and 800 Tough

Nokia 2720 and 800 Tough are not smartphones: HMD Global decided once again to launch old-school feature phones. The first is a retro flip phone, while the second is a rugged phone with an IP68 rating and a MIL-STD-810G certification. Given that they are feature phones, battery life is undoubtedly their strong point. But despite not being smartphones, they still maintain some smart features thanks to the operating system KaiOS. Besides coming with a camera, they also have 4G connectivity and they support a few important apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Google Maps.

Samsung Galaxy Fold

After delaying its launch several times, during the IFA 2019, Samsung finally announced the launch of the Galaxy Fold in the global market. The company made some tweaks in order to make its first foldable phones more resistant and avoid every kind of display issues. So now the handset finally went into commerce with a sturdier body. It is currently available in South Korea, but in a few days, it will hit select international markets with a price tag around €2000. Unfortunately, not every country will get it.

Sony Xperia 5

During its keynote at IFA 2019, Sony officially unveiled the Xperia 5: a compact iteration of its last flagship Xperia 1. We can define Sony Xperia 5 as the only really compact flagship released in the second half of 2019 globally, given that it is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset. Sony already started accepting pre-orders in a few European countries with a price tag ranging from €800 to €850 depending on the market.

Nubia Red Magic 3S

After Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 855+ chipset that is an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 855 with a higher clock frequency and higher graphics performances, even Nubia decided to release an upgraded variant of its latest gaming phone Red Magic 3. Its name is Red Magic 3S and it is obviously powered by the Snapdragon 855+. After an initial phase of reservations, the phone went on sale two days ago in China with a starting price of CNY 2,999 which roughly translates into $419 at the actual change, for the configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

Asus ROG Phone II

The ROG Phone II was already official, but Asus took advantage of the IFA 2019 to launch it in the global market. The handset also came in a new configuration called Ultimate Edition equipped with 1 TB of internal UFS 3.0 storage. Before this launch, the ROG Phone 2 came with a max 512 GB of internal storage. The rest of the specifications remains the same as the previous version launched in the Asian market. The price tag for the global market starts from €899.

Huawei P30 Pro new colors

Alongside the new Kirin 990 which will power the Mate 30 series, Huawei unveiled two new color variants of its P30 Pro. The phone comes with exactly the same hardware specifications, but in the new Misty Lavender and Mistyc Blue color variants, it embraces the “panda” color scheme with two different textures on the back cover. Further, these color variants of the Huawei P30 Pro will hit the market with EMUI 10 out of the box based on Android 10, unlike the other color variants.

LG G8X ThinQ

After the announcement of three flagships at MWC 2019, not everyone expected LG to launch another flagship phone. But the Korean company came up at IFA 2019 with the LG G8X, which will also be known as the V50S ThinQ in its homeland. It comes with a revamped dual-screen accessory adding another display which is the same as the main phone’s display, as well as a monochromatic mini display on the external part, showing time, date and notifications.

Motorola One Zoom and E6 Plus

Despite launching a couple of phones in Asia, Lenovo unveiled a camera-focused device called Motorola One Zoom, which is equipped with a quad-camera setup on its rear side. It is a mid-ranger, but it provides outstanding camera capabilities thanks to OIS, quad pixel technology for amazing low light performance, and a telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The company also unveiled the Moto E6 Plus entry-level device with the Helio P22 chipset which will hit the European market with a €139 price tag.

TCL Plex

Alongside a few Alcatel devices, TCL unveiled its first self-produced smartphone. Its name is TCL Plex and it is a value for money smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 675 paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage which you can furtherly expand with a micro SD. TCL Plex has a 6.53-inch punch-hole display with a Full HD+ resolution and a triple camera with a double LED flash and advanced software which improves colors in real-time. The battery has a 3800 mAh capacity and the phone integrates the T-Cast app allowing to remotely control TCL TVs. It will launch in Europe in Q4 and it will carry a €329 price.

It has a huge 6.7-inch display with stunning quality, in my opinion, the best display you can see on a phone in terms of image quality. It comes with a 5G modem (a multi-mode modem in the European version, supporting 4G too) and one of the biggest battery you can find on a flagship phone (4500 mAh) with the support for reverse wireless charging. Alongside all these beautiful things, there is also an amazing camera department with the most amazing selfie camera I personally have ever seen on a mobile phone and a variable focal aperture for the rear camera which helps to capture good photos in low light.

Another device which deserves a honourable mention in this list is the Galaxy S10e: it is not the most expensive flagship from Samsung, but it is the only real compact flagship from this year (it is powered by either Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 depending on the market), and its price is relatively affordable considering its specs sheet and features. It even supports some innovative features of its costlier siblings Galaxy S10 and S10+, such as reverse wireless charging and it comes with a very nice punch-hole design, especially in the Canary Yellow color variant.

OnePlus 7 Pro

With the OnePlus 7 Pro, the Chinese company OnePlus stopped releasing just affordable flagship and moved to the top-tier segment. This flagship comes with features that take on top-tier smartphones at a cheaper price segment. It is one of the fastest handsets in the market thanks to the Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and a very smooth user interface. It has one of the most stunning displays with a QHD resolution and a 90 Hz refresh ratio, as well as the HDR10+ standard and a wide 6.67-inch diagonal. Even its camera is amazing with a bright f/1.6 aperture and OIS.

Asus Zenfone 6

Asus Zenfone 6 is another camera innovator, but not mainly for its camera quality. It is the first smartphone with a flip-up camera and it allows the user to adjust the position of the rear cameras to click photos comfortably at any angle. Asus Zenfone 6 is also the latest-gen flagship with the biggest battery: it is equipped with a mammoth 5000mAh unit which lasts up to three days with moderate use and supports reverse charging (non-wireless). Redmi K20 Pro (Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro)

Launched in the European market as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, the Redmi K20 Pro could become the most loved affordable flagship of the year due to its amazing price tag and its perfect specs sheet. It has almost everything an advanced user needs while still being cheaper as compared to the other flagships. You get an HDR display, an elegant design, a pop-up camera, the Snapdragon 855 SoC and even a big battery at a ridiculous price.

Last but not least, even the camera setup is amazing, with a triple sensor and very fast and accurate autofocus. As for now, if we had to recommend an affordable flagship for its value for money, we would surely go for the Redmi K20 Pro.

Honor 20 Pro

Honor is Huawei’s sub-brand that focuses on quality-price ratio, but the Honor 20 Pro is a bit more than a simple affordable flagship. On its rear side, it sports one of the most advanced camera department we have ever seen, including four sensors with a dedicated macro camera, OIS and 3x optical zoom. There is obviously a flagship-class hardware side with the Kirin 980 chipset and 8 GB of RAM, as well as a big 4000 mAh battery. The Honor 20 Pro also comes with a punch-hole display minimizing the bezels without the need of a notch or a pop-up slider.

Overall, the first half of 2019 was a really good year for the smartphone industry. From punch hole displays to pop-up cameras, smartphone manufacturers have worked hard to minimize the bezels around the display and offer maximum screen real estate.

The phone comes in a premium packaging and inside of it, you can find the all the usual stuff. Some extras include a pair of earphones that actually sound pretty good.

Gigaset Me Review: DESIGN and DISPLAY

Honestly, the Gigaset Me looks and feels like a much more expensive phone. It uses a high-quality stainless steel chassis, tactile metal buttons and a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3 on the front and rear.

The phone is compact due to it’s 5” 1080p display, which is sharp and vibrant. Just above the display we have an 8MP camera and a notification LED light.

I don’t like the fact that there are only the on-screen navigation keys but at least you can change the position of the buttons.

The back looks really nice but obviously, it is a huge fingerprint magnet as most of the glass surfaces, and the phone is quite slippery.

Besides the beefy 16MP camera, dual tone dual-LED flash, you can find some other sensors since the phone has quite a few fitness-oriented features.

You can track your heart rate, check the UV level using a dedicated sensor if you need to, track your steps with the built-in pedometer and once you finish your workout, control devices like TVs with the help of the IR blaster.

The fingerprint scanner is very accurate and it unlocks the phone straight from the standby mode. However, sometimes the display lights up slower than expected.

The phone is being advertised for the good sound but I would rate the loudspeaker quality as above average. Also, you will usually end up covering it up if you hold the phone in the landscape mode. The sound via the headset jack is great and I have no complaints here.

Since the Gigaset ME was released quite while ago, it sports a little outdated but still pretty good specs that include an octa-core Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The Snapdragon 810 chip was used in the last year’s flagships for a reason. The phone can handle anything you throw at it without any issues. There is no stutter or skipped frames once you play the most demanding 3D games. Finally, the phone gets quite warm when gaming but it does not overheat.

When it comes to the image quality, the Gigaset Me is definitely one of the best $150 camera phones you can buy. The images come out sharp, detailed and the color reproduction is accurate even though I took all the daylight pictures during the cloudy and foggy day.

The night photos don’t look that great but you will still be to take some usable images. Obviously, the pictures looks quite grainy buy my biggest complaint is a visible purple tint in most of the shots.

The selfies look kind of mediocre. All the images I took have quite a soft focus.

The phone can shoot videos at the resolution of 2k or 1080p. Either way, the quality of footage is just mediocre. My biggest complaint is a very poor sound recording quality.

Gigaset Me Review: CONNECTIVITY

The phone ships with the hybrid SIM card tray where you can either put 2 nano SIM cards or a combo of 1 SIM and the microSD card.

I didn’t have any connectivity issues with this phone except for the fact that the sound quality from the earpiece is kind of mediocre.

Gigaset Me Review: BATTERY LIFE

The 3000mAh battery performs great. It will easily get you through the day and that translates to about 5 hours of screen-on time on a mixed use.

Also, the phone supports the Quick Charge 2.0 and you can fully charge the phone in about 1h 30 mins.

So, there you have it, the Gigaset ME, the phone you’ve probably never considered buying.

Obviously, it was simply too expensive at the time of the release but for the current price of just $150, I think that it is a pretty good deal.

The phone looks and feels expensive, the display is pretty sharp and vibrant and the Gigaset Me has the specs that can still handle even the most demanding tasks like 3D games.

The camera can take some really nice and sharp pictures in daylight but it struggles in lower-lit situations. Also, the sound quality in the video recording mode is just horrible.

If you decide to buy this phone, you will probably be stuck with the Android 5.1. On the other hand, the day-to-day performance of the UI is good.

Still, the Gigaset ME is definitely worth $140 as it is a solid and nice-looking phone if you don’t mind the previously mentioned shortcomings and the fact that it will attract all the fingerprints and smudges once you use it.
