Back in July 2022, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) got removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Initially, the specific reasons for the game’s removal were not revealed. However, it was later revealed through RTI (Right to Information) that BGMI was officially banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in response to requests from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Ever since then, multiple reports have surfaced online claiming that the popular battle royale game will be making a comeback. According to reports, Krafton has been collaborating with the government to seek the lifting of the ban. Encouragingly, recent developments suggest that the South Korean company might be making progress, as Krafton has recently advertised a job opening for an India Mobile Quality Assurance analyst.

New job listing for BGMI

GemWire recently discovered a new job listing that provides details about the role and qualifications for a potential candidate. The listing, posted by Krafton, specifies that the chosen candidate will be responsible for conducting functional testing on various projects published by Krafton. Additionally, the applicant will be required to address privacy concerns and promptly respond to related issues.

Importantly, the location specified for the selected candidate is Seoul, South Korea. It is intriguing to note that the role of Lead Quality Assurance Analyst does not outline any explicit experience prerequisites. Although the job listing does not explicitly mention the lifting of the BGMI ban, the purpose of the hire is presumed to be for the quality assurance of the game in question. Since the ban, BGMI has experienced a lack of new updates and events, and players who still have access to the game have reported suboptimal server conditions. It is reasonable to anticipate that these issues will be resolved once the game is eventually unbanned.

Recently, a report surfaced indicating that there is a possibility of BGMI being unbanned for a limited period in the near future. According to the report, the Indian government is considering lifting the ban on BGMI for a three-month period to closely assess the application and the gaming experience it offers.

During this evaluation period, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs will scrutinize and re-evaluate the app to ensure compliance with the privacy and security regulations set by the Indian government, prioritizing the well-being of its citizens. If Krafton fails to adhere to these rules, BGMI could potentially face another ban.

The report also mentioned that BGMI will introduce an in-game timer to restrict players from exceeding the designated playtime. The game’s color scheme will reportedly be changed to support yellow and green blood, similar to the version currently available in China (Peacekeeper Elite). Initially, players were given the option to change the blood color to green or blue during the game’s launch as a replacement for PUBG Mobile India. However, it seems that a new default color will be implemented instead of red.

While there is currently no confirmed date for the unbanning, it is anticipated that more information will emerge in the following days. Therefore, it is advised to stay updated on the topic.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) devs at Krafton have been working hard ever since the launch of the game to make it more optimized and bug-free. The company has just launched a new update for the game bringing fixes for multiple issues that the player base is facing right now.

According to the official patch notes, the new update brings a highly demanded fix for the speed issue after jumping off the Nimbus Island. This is basically a bug that allowed players to move way faster than intended after abusing a glitch spot to jump off the nimbus island. Krafton has confirmed that this glitch has indeed been fixed.

The patch also brings a fix for the issue where other players’ sensitivity codes won’t get applied. These codes usually allow players to share their custom sensitivity settings for the camera, aim down sight (ADS), and gyroscope with others. Other than that, the last gameplay-related patch coming with this update fixes the issue where players were unable to see through the scope when they had the Christmas-themed Merry Tidings skin equipped to their UZI.

In a separately published patch note, Krafton has also stated that it has fixed an issue with a premium crate that gives an unintended item along with guaranteed rewards when opening the crate 10, 20, or 30 times.

Krafrton also recently announced that in the last week of March alone, they had banned over 66,000 accounts for cheating. Players have also stated that cheaters are getting banned at a faster rate compared to previous months. This may be due to improvements made in the Anti-cheat system of the game. The game also encourages players to report any suspicious activity that they come across. If the anti-cheat engine flags and bans an account that you’ve reported, the game rewards you with a “Ban Pan” skin for the iconic Pan.
