Black Shark, a Xiaomi-backed gaming smartphone maker launched its Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone last year with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. It’s sibling, the standard Black Shark 2 was recently updated to Android 10 (Joy UI 11). Now, the Pro is also getting a similar treatment, albeit only a few users are receiving the update.

Black Shark has scheduled an event for May 8 to launch Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro globally. Ahead of it, the brand has started updating its predecessors to the latest software. The standard Black Shark 2 was updated last month and now the update is being rolled out to Black Shark 2 Pro as well.

However, not all the users are receiving the OTA weighing 1883.3MB. Like any other system update, it is being seeded out in a phased manner. Further, the new update apart from bringing Android 10 also brings new Joy UI 11.

On Jan. 10, Xiaomi began with the pre-orders of the new 8 GB RAM edition of the Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone in China. As scheduled, the new variant is available for purchase from today in the home market with a pricing of 2,699 Yuan (~$391). Since its launch in July, the phone was selling in three 12 GB RAM variants. However, none of the them can be seen in the official listing of the Black Shark 2 Pro at Xiaomi’s online store in China. Hence, it appears that the company may have axed all the 12 GB RAM editions of the gaming phone. This is could be a strategic move to make way for the upcoming Black Shark 3.

The Black Shark 2 Pro 8 GB RAM variant comes with an internal storage. It can be availed only in Electric Black color edition and it priced at 2,699 Yuan (~$391).

At launch, the Black Shark 2 Pro was introduced in two models such as 12 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. These models were priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$434) and 3,499 Yuan (~$507), respectively. In September, the company had added a new variant featuring 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of native storage with a price tag of 3,999 Yuan (~$579).

Xiaomi could be launching the upcoming Black Shark 3 phone with a pricing around of 3,000 Yuan. This could be reason the way none of the 12 GB RAM models are now available for purchase in China.

Xiaomi is reportedly working on the launch of the Black Shark 3. The KLE-A0 Xiaomi phone that was recently approved by the CMIIT battery seems to be the upcoming Black Shark 3. The CMIIT listing revealed that the handset will be a 5G-ready device.

Recent reports have revealed that the Black Shark 3 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. This could bring support for dual-mode 5G on the device. The handset is rumored to be equipped with a display that supports quad HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It is speculated that it could be the first phone to arrive with 16 GB of RAM. The Black Shark 3 is expected to get unveiled in the first quarter of 2020.

In July last year, Xiaomi-backed gaming smartphone maker Black Shark launched its Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. The phone was launched in two memory variants — 12GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB.

Today, the company has launched a new variant of the Black Shark 2 Pro (Full Specs) smartphone in the Chinese market, making it the first one to come with 8GB RAM. Yes, the new variant of the phone comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The Black Shark 2 Pro 8GB + 128GB model is priced at 2,699 yuan which roughly converts to $390. However, the phone is up for pre-order in China costing 2,599 yuan (~$375) and will start shipping from 14th January.

Unlike other models, this 8GB RAM variant comes in only one color — Electron Black. For comparison, the 12GB + 128GB model costs ¥2999 (~$436) and the 12GB + 256GB model is priced at ¥3499 (~$504).

The main selling point of the Black Shark 2 Pro is its processor – the Snapdragon 855 Plus – which was announced recently. It has higher clock speeds (CPU and GPU) than the Snapdragon 855. Black Shark even bragged about the phone’s performance; sharing its AnTuTu score of 500,610 points at the launch.

Today, Xiaomi-backed gaming smartphone maker Black Shark has announced a new color variant of the Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone — Violet. This new gradient color variant is also being called “Flower Violet” or “Streamer Violet”.

This is the fourth color variant for the Black Shark 2 Pro which was earlier available in Electric Black, Ice Ash, and Orange. This new Purple color variant of the smartphone will be available for purchase in China from 1st November.

Apart from the new color, the internals of the smartphone remains the same. It houses a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with notch-less design and offers Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

On July 30, Xiaomi had launched the Black Shark 2 Pro gaming smartphone in China. There is no word on the international availability of the smartphone. It appears that the smartphone could be soon debuting In India as it has received approval from the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) in India.

Above shown screenshot reveals that a new Black Shark phone with model number DLT-H0 has received BIS certification. The SKW-H0 model belongs to the global variant of the older Black Shark 2 phone. Its Chinese variant had SKW-A0 model.

Hence, it appears that the DLT-H0 model number belongs to the global model of the Black Shark 2 Pro. The model number of its Chinese variant is DLT-A0. With BIS certification in tow, the Black Shark 2 Pro may debut soon in India. Probably, the company may announce it in November in the country.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro Specifications

The Black Shark 2 Pro is an advanced version of the Black Shark 2 phone that was made official in India in May. IFA 2019 just kicked off and two gaming phones have already debuted. The first is the Nubia Red Magic 3S, an upgraded version of the Red Magic 3 with improved specifications. The second one is the global version of the Asus ROG Phone 2 which now comes with up to 1 TB of internal storage (in its Ultimate Edition) and the best memory configuration you can expect on a mobile phone in 2019. Given that two gaming phones just debuted, we naturally couldn’t overlook a gaming phones comparison. We included a third phone in the comparison because it is yet another gaming-centric device to sport the most powerful Qualcomm’s chipset, the SD855+. The third candidate is none other than the Black Shark 2 Pro.

Nubia Red Magic 3S vs Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro vs Asus ROG Phone 2

Design

Gaming phones usually have aggressive gaming-centric aesthetics and they are all but elegant. So which look should you choose depends on your personal taste. Asus ROG Phone 2 has a better build quality, it has AirTriggers and other physical keys for gamers, and it even supports a lot of external accessories. That is why it is definitely the best choice for gaming when it comes to aesthetics. On the other hand, Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro remains interesting as it is the most compact one. The Red Magic 3S also supports external accessories, but overall, there’s no denying that ROG Phone 2 looks beautiful.

Display

Despite having the most interesting aesthetics for a public of gamers (or republic, lol), the Asus ROG Phone 2 is also equipped with the best display. It has the highest refresh rate (120 Hz), a high touch-sensing (240 Hz) and even the best color reproduction, thanks to an excellent AMOLED panel which supports both the HDR10 technology and a 108 percent DCI-P3 coverage.

Nubia Red Magic 3S offers 240Hz touch sensing and a high refresh ratio (90 Hz). The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro has a better touch-sensing (240 Hz) but limits the refresh rate to just 60Hz. On paper, the Red Magic 3S triumphs the BS2P in the display department.

Specs & Software

The amazing Snapdragon 855+ chipset (the best you can actually find in the Android market) and up to 12 GB of RAM are common on all the phones in this trio. What makes the difference is the internal storage (besides the cooling system, but each of them has a very efficient cooling system): Asus ROG Phone 2 will debut in the global market with up to 1 TB of storage (UFS 3.0), while Nubia Red Magic 3S and Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro stop at 256 GB. Further, Asus ROG Phone II allows switching between a stock Android user interface and a custom UI, and it is the only gaming phone that allows you to do this.

But for a gamer on a budget, you end up getting larger storage on the Black Shark 2 Pro instead of the Red Magic 3S at a similar price tag. However, in terms of sheer specs, all three smartphones will handle everything you throw at it without any hiccups.

Gaming Features

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 is undoubtedly the king of mobile gaming with 2 x USB Type-C ports, Air triggers, a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for a slew of accessories like a heat sink, ROG Active Cooler II, Mobile desktop dock, and even a TwinView Dock II.

However, if you look at the Red Magic 3S, it doesn’t lag very far behind. Nubia’s new phone also features virtual buttons on the side for additional controls (you can even use the fingerprint sensor as a button during gameplay), liquid and active fan cooling, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and separate pins for special accessories like the e-sport RedMagic docking station.

Unfortunately, the Black Shark 2 Pro doesn’t have a separate port/ pins for docking accessories. It doesn’t even have AirTriggers or virtual buttons on the side, so you have to rely on its Master touch 2.0, which is basically customized touch zones on the left and right side of the screen. You do have a few accessories like portable gamepads, but both Red Magic 3S and ROG Phone II does better when it comes to gaming-centric features.

Camera

The camera is the weakest point of gaming phone and these are no exception. Nubia Red Magic 3S is equipped with just a single camera on its rear side and that is a bit disappointing, while Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 2 sport dual camera configurations. The former has a secondary telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, while the latter has an ultrawide sensor. However, the differences between camera quality will be marginal.

Battery

The 6000 mAh battery on board of the Asus ROG Phone 2 will provide the longest battery life. Nubia Red Magic 3S has a 5000 mAh battery but it has to manage a real cooling fan, so we do not believe it will be at the same level as the ROG Phone 2 in any scenario. You should also consider that Asus ROG Phone 2 is the only to support reverse charging (not wireless) and it can be used as a power bank to charge other devices.

Black Shark 2 Pro has the smallest battery among in this trio, so it shouldn’t be at par as the ROG Phone 2 or even the Red Magic 3S.

Price

Overall, Asus ROG Phone 2 wins this comparison because of its better display, long-lasting battery and more additional features. But it costs more: in the global market, it is debuting with a $509/€460 price tag. However, it is worth spending a bit more to get a way better phone.

The value for money prize goes to the Nubia Red Magic 3S and its $420/€380 price tag. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro is available at the same starting price, but Nubia’s flagship has slightly more interesting features (air cooling system, 4D vibration feedback, 3D surround sound, pressure-sensitive zones, and more).

AnTuTu’s Android Performance list is a good indicator of the top smartphones of the month in terms of sheer power. Today the benchmarking app has released the Top 10 Android Performance Phones for August 2019 and there are no real surprises in the list. The recently announced Snapdragon 855 Plus smartphones top the list. However, there are slight variations in the placement of the flagships, all thanks to the changes made in the new AnTuTu v8.0.

So before we actually take a look at the phones in the list, let’s see what these changes are. First, AnTuTu v8.0 considers the storage variant of each device while ranking the phones in the list. Larger the storage, better the ranking. Simply put, scores will differ among the different variants of the same device. The new version also takes the screen refresh rates into account. So it’s no surprise that OnePlus 7 Pro jumps up a few places (vs June’s ranking) in August’s ranking due to its 90Hz screen.

Now coming to the AnTuTu Android Performance list for August 2019, Black Shark 2 Pro 12GB+256GB variant takes the lead with 469,708 points. This isn’t surprising given that it features the new Snapdragon 855+ processor with UFS 3.0. In the second place is the 8GB+128GB version of the ROG Phone 2.

The new ROG phone also features the latest SD855+ chipset, so it’s not surprising to see it placed on top. However, note that there’s a 12GB RAM version of this phone and given that there’s hardly any difference in its score vs Black Shark 2 Pro, it’s likely that the ROG Phone 2 12GB RAM model will top this list. In case you are wondering why we haven’t seen the higher-end model of the ROG Phone 2, note that AnTuTu considers a sample size of at least 1000 scores for this list.

In the third place is the OnePlus 7 Pro 12GB + 256GB variant which jumps up a few places because of its 90Hz screen. Then there’s the Nubia Red Magic 3 8GB + 128GB in the fourth place, followed by OnePlus 7 12GB + 256GB, Black Shark 2 8GB + 256GB, and Xiaomi Mi 9 8GB + 256GB.

What’s really interesting is that the ZTE Axon 10 Pro also makes it in this list but it’s the only phone with 6GB RAM. All the rest have at least 8GB RAM onboard. Meizu 16S 8GB + 128GB and Redmi K20 Pro 8GB + 256GB complete the list.

A new smartphone just made its debut in the gaming smartphones segment: Vivo iQOO Pro. It is not an expensive device like the recent Asus ROG Phone 2, but it will offer a top-end hardware department at an affordable price. It will be the main competitor of two recent Chinese gaming phones released by Xiaomi and Nubia: the Black Shark 2 Pro and the Red Magic 3. Does the Vivo iQOO Pro offer a higher value for money or better specifications compared to its two opponents? These are the main questions we will try to answer through this specs comparison in order to suggest you the best purchase you can actually do if you are searching for an affordable gaming handset.

Vivo iQOO Pro vs Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro vs Nubia Red Magic 3

Design

Despite it is clearly a gaming-focused phone, Vivo iQOO Pro is the only smartphone from this trio to feature a traditional design. So it is as elegant as other phones and it does not have an aggressive gaming-centric design which someone might not like. It even comes with a very high screen-to-body ratio thanks to very narrow bezels around the display and a waterdrop notch, unlike its two rivals. But if you prefer a gaming-centric design with RGB lights and additional keys to enhance the gaming experience, then go either for the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro or the Nubia Red Magic 3 depending on your personal tastes. I prefer the Black Shark 2 Pro because it is thinner and lighter.

Display

Here, you basically have to choose between a higher refresh ratio and a bigger diagonal, or a more compact display with better touch sensing. The device which offers a higher refresh ratio (90 Hz) and a wider display is the Nubia Red Magic 3, and that is what I would choose. The one with 240 Hz touch sensing is the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro, but it has a smaller display and a standard refresh rate. I define the refresh ratio as a more important element than a higher touch sensing, so my choice would be the Red Magic 3. Both Red Magic 3 and Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro offer 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, while Vivo iQOO Pro has a standard AMOLED display with non-amazing color reproduction and a standard refresh ratio, so it loses the comparison.

Specs & Software

While Nubia Red Magic 3 is equipped with a standard Snapdragon 855 chipset, both Vivo iQOO Pro and Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro are powered by the new Snapdragon 855+: an upgrade version of the SD855 offering a higher clock frequency and a graphic performance improvement up to 15 percent. I think Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro will offer higher performance in long session due to its advanced cooling system. Further, in its most expensive configuration, it has more internal storage than Vivo iQOO Pro (up to 256 GB against 128 GB). Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro even comes with very optimized software experience.

Camera

None of these handsets is a real camera phone: all of them have midrange-class cameras. In these cases, I prefer the most versatile device, so the one which offers the highest amount of features. My choice would be the Vivo iQOO Pro due to its triple camera including an ultrawide sensor and a pretty nice 48 MP shooter. But Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro is all but a bad camera phone, especially with its great telephoto lens enabling 2x optical zoom, as well as a decent selfie camera.

Battery

Nubia Red Magic 3 has a huge 5000 mAh battery, while Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro and Vivo iQOO Pro come with just 4000 and 4500 mAh, respectively. Design

No matter which phone you choose: you will get very nice gaming-centric aesthetics, but there is an important difference between Vivo iQOO and its rivals. The first has a traditional premium design just like most of the other high-end phones, while Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro and Nubia Red Magic 3 have an aggressive gaming-centric design. Vivo iQOO still has LED lights on its back and it even features capacitive triggers, but if you are a real gamer and you want a totally appropriate design with even better gaming-centric features, you should go either for the Black Shark 2 Pro or the Nubia Red Magic 3. Given that I mostly care about having an elegant and compact design, I would choose the Vivo iQOO. But it is all about tastes.

Display

A wide diagonal of 6.65 inches, a high 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage and even a high 90 Hz refresh ratio: Nubia Red Magic 3 simply has an amazing display, especially for gaming lovers. The presence of a so high refresh ratio makes me prefer this device over the Black Shark 2 Pro, but this does not mean it does not have a nice display as well, especially if we consider its 240 Hz touch-sensing experience and its 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage. But note that it lacks a 90 Hz refresh ratio and it has a smaller panel. Vivo iQOO does not offer the best color reproduction and neither high responsiveness, but unlike the Red Magic 3, it features an in-display fingerprint reader.

Specs & Software

The presence of the Snapdragon 855+ chipset makes the Black Shark 2 Pro the device with the highest performance (and not only in this trio, given that it recently obtained the highest AnTuTu score ever). In case you missed it, Snapdragon 855+ is an overclocked upgrade of the Snapdragon 855 which offers a higher clock frequency (2.96 GHz instead of 2.84 GHz) and 15 percent better graphics performances. However, do not underestimate the Nubia Red Magic 3 and its air cooling system which integrates a real fan running at 14,000 rpm: a perfect solution for long gaming sessions and hot weather.

Camera

The best camera seems to belong to the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro: we are talking about a rear setup including a 48 MP main sensor and a secondary telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom. It provides the highest detail and it is also very versatile. Right after, we got the Vivo iQOO with its triple camera including an ultrawide sensor and a depth sensor.

Battery

Given its 5000 mAh capacity, the battery found on the Nubia Red Magic 3 lasts longer than both Black Shark 2 Pro and Vivo iQOO, despite the phone features a bigger display.

Aside from being the hottest two months in the summer, July and August mark the launch of some of the most-awaited digital products. These two intersections of months have become the months for gaming mobile phones to compete with each other.

The Black Shark Game Phone 2 Pro is the second mobile phone released by Black Shark this year and second game mobile phone released in the second half of the year 2019. Usually, Black Shark releases two mobile phones in a year, which is bound to have the same ignominious situation because of the processor. However, this year the Black Shark Game Phone 2 Pro has employed Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 Plus, becoming the second mobile phone in the market to pack the Snapdragon 855 Plus, under its hood.

The complete design language and great lights

The recently unveiled Black Shark 2 Pro bears a strong continuity from the Black Shark 2 name. In other words, the aforesaid models have been designed as part of the same series.

As expected, Black Shark has retained the back design; however, made some adjustments in the middle portion. The Pro variant surpasses the Black Shark 2 in terms of shape and the texture and offers faster speed. The Black Shark Game Phone 2 Pro obviously is better than the design styles adopted by the rest of the game phones.

It is also worth noting that a feminine hygiene product is a mere myth. Personally, I have never purchased it for my girlfriend. In fact, I don’t even have a girlfriend.

The new phone sports a smaller “S” as compared to its predecessor, while narrowing the main portion. While both the upper, as well as the lower part of the original Black Shark 2 are almost empty, the Black Shark 2 Pro fills that place with a couple of tiny lights. The new is without an iota of doubt, more appealing.

I felt that the high and low undulation, coupled with the lines behind it and the shape of the deck placed in the middle bears a striking resemblance to a space warship or a sports car. Unlike the back, the front portion sports a traditional appearance, which is quite similar to the Black Shark 2. For example, it uses a non-shaped full-screen design, and there’s a lot of handheld space on both sides for a superior gaming experience.

The Black Shark 2 Pro’s screen should be the same as Black Shark 2, 6.39 inches, 2340×1080 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate (yes, no high refresh rate) Samsung AMOLED screen and parameters are already popular. Following the installation of the independent display control chip, it is safe to say that the refresh rate is the best feature of the phone.

Nevertheless, smartphone lovers are likely to give a lot of importance to screen parameters, which are likely to be different. Keeping in line with that, would you rather choose a domestic AMOLED high refresh rate screen or go for the Samsung AMOLED screen?

Aside from that, the Black Shark 2 Pro adopts the same screen fingerprint technology, which delivers the same unlocking speed as Xiaomi.

Snapdragon 855 Plus is powerful, but the core is a completely unique gameplay experience

On the performance front, the phone uses the 855 Plus model, which was originally found on the ROG Phone 2. Apparently, those making gaming smartphones are paying a lot of attention to the performance in this area.

Compared with the regular version of the Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm has made two major improvements in the Snapdragon 855 Plus:

• Core frequency upgraded from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz
• The graphics core Adreno 640 is optimized for gaming and entertainment functions, with a 15% improvement in the performance.

As far as the running scores are concerned, the GeekBench 4.4.1 version scored 3,629 single cores and multi-core scores of 11277. It has comprehensively improved compared to Snapdragon 855, and 3D Mark’s scores are quite good.

The graphics processing unit has undergone a radical overhaul in terms of frequency, improving from 585MHz to 672MHz. This increase is even larget than the CPU. It is worth mentioning here that the GPU frequency of the Snapdragon 855 was forcibly increased to 810 MHz via the back door when the Shark Phone 2 was used officially. But this was higher than the Snapdragon 855 Plus.

Note that there’s still no frequency for this SD 855 Plus. A Black Shark official explained that Qualcomm has refrained from doing so to allow all Snapdragon 855 Plus to operate at the official standard frequency, but run from several times. It is also worth noting that GPU performance has improved as well.

In the wake of the original Black Shark phone receiving criticism for touch-related problems, the company managed to slowly convert the touch performance and operation into the best part of the phone.

According to official data, The touch delay of the Black Shark 2 Pro is further minimized, breaking through the 40ms mark. Note that the average delay has been reduced to 34.7ms. If this is supposed to be a stable average, avid gamers will experience enhanced “gun-to-heart” in the FPS game.

As a regular gamer, I still experienced the delay of 200ms Bluetooth headset, without experiencing any difference with the 10ms of the previous model. If I tried the Peace Elite, for example, I wouldn’t be impressed. For professional players, these operational problems may prove to be a big disappointment.

Coming to the heat-dissipating part, I noticed thermal sensation after turning the roast chicken mode on. Playing Peace Elite on a normal mode will neither offer the “Ultra HD” image quality, nor the “very high” frame rate. heat.

The unique pressure-sensing function of the Black Shark isn’t worth ignoring. With Apple dumping the 3D Touch, it looks like Black Shark is the only manufacturer that offers pressure-sensitive function. While the 3D Touch needs special adaptation, the Black Shark’s pressure is mapped and free to support more games. This feature is available on Black Shark 2, not Black Shark 2 Pro.

I personally felt that a user might need some time to use to the function. I attempted to reduce the reaction time and found that it is easier to misuse in an unusual scenario.

Black Shark also comes in handy in checking the usage of the function. According to the company, 70% of the users of the Black Shark 2 play “eat chicken,” and a whopping 90% of the players use the pressure. If this data is anything to go by, we can say it is quite impressive from the usage rate.

The camera sensor has been upgraded, but battery capacity remains the same

The Pro variant of the Black Shark 2 gaming phone houses a 48MP sensor, while its predecessor used the Samsung GM1, which has now been replaced with the Sony IMX 586. In theory, this is likely to be better. Let’s have a look in the samples below:

After having a look at the performance of the camera samples, it seems safe to say that the Black Shark 2 Pro, which is a game phone, has achieved the mainstream level in the camera performance, but it is slightly weaker in the multi-camera program.

So far, multiple mainstream mobile phones have resorted to some sort of deviations in the evolutionary route. The Black Shark 2 Pro, on the other hand still continues to draw its juices from a 4000mAh battery. Given that the screen size is still the same for the Black Shark 2 Pro, it makes a lot of sense to maintain the battery capacity as well.

The 4000mAh capacity isn’t too small for this size. It remains to be seen whether or not Black Shark will come up with a bigger screen size to accommodate a larger battery in the near future. Nevertheless, 6 hours of bright screen life from a 4000mAh battery seems quite reasonable to me.

The battery supports fast charging capacity of 27W. Despite having the same power as the Xiaomi 9, the compatibility of Black Shark phones with fast charging is relatively better than Xiaomi-branded handsets. The charging head of PD 3.0 is more adaptable.

Black sharks also need to consider the hardware and improve the headset

Professional users are still likely to find a huge room for improvement in the Black Shark 2 Pro especially with the absence of NFC function, inconvenience on the go, for example, the elimination of the 3.5mm headphone port. Using a wired headset is quite inconvenient.

Despite these drawbacks, I am quite pleased with the hardware of the Black Shark 2 Pro. While I can provide a logical explanation for a few missing technical indicators, I still have a few things to say about specific strategies including the accessories part.

The lighting effect is unique to gaming mobile phones, and so are the accessories. Regrettably, Black Shark isn’t paying enough attention to the accessories in the propaganda. The back clip fan or the biplane handle is no doubt simply remarkable, but I think, the initial criticisms and videos are merely a single machine, lacking a few engaging test plays.

The second problem is related to the software. Black Shark needs to focus on it immediately. A lot of old users have reported that the Bug official repair is too slow, and some of the bugs are submitted even to the sea. It is imperative for you to ensure you are not just watching the game on the Black Shark.

Thankfully, the picture-in-picture function that was revealed at the press conference indicated that Black Shark is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to improve this department.

Aside from that, the company also needs to figure out how it can continuously improve the ease of use of JOY UI. According to a lot of users, Black Shark should try to brush MIUI. This is due to the fact that the existing JOY UI is rhythm in function and bug fix-  still very slow. In my opinion, the current MIUI is kind of bloated. For those planning to use it as a mobile phone, the ease of use can be a big problem.

Trying to do this well, the black shark is easy to go further.

This is an incremental update

Black Shark resorts to adopting a strong rhythm following a significant change as far as the product iteration rhythm is concerned. The relationship between the original Black Shark and the Black Shark Helo was identical, and the relationship between Black Shark 2 and Black Shark 2 Pro is the same as well.

Overall, the Black Shark 2 Pro does not offer a lot to cheer about in the performance and specifications department. However, the improvement of product ID design, along with enhancement of its “X Core” with three “Lights of the Mirage” at the press conference is nothing short of impressive.

The color scheme is quite appealing as well. Taking this into consideration, the Black Shark 2 Pro shows a lot of improvement. The 12GB + 128GB model will set you back to 2999, which is quite reasonable. I feel Black Shark 2 Pro is getting better. However, the Black Shark 2 Pro AnTuTu benchmark score in real life has been shared on Weibo by a netizen who obviously has used the device. The message was actually sent using the device so, the AnTuTu score is likely genuine.

The gaming phone is shown to have got a total benchmark score of 456571 points. This is significantly lower than the 500,610 points the company projected during the launch event. We believe the disparity is due to the device already running some apps, games and encountering day-to-day uses.

The score is still way higher than the 405598 points released by AnTuTu a few days before the phone was launched. It is possible that the CPU was optimised after AnTuTu got the first score on its database. A disparity of over 50K points will sure make a difference in performance. In other aspects, the Black Shark 2 Pro scored 109,193 points on the GPU test, UX-54924 points, CPU- 140041, and MEM- 71370 points.

Unfortunately, the AnTuTu score for the ASUS ROG 2 is yet to be released. So, we can’t cross-check to see if they are on par.

LED lights are obviously not missing, but note that Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro is a lot more compact and lightweight than its rival.

Display

When it comes to the display there is no challenge: Asus ROG Phone 2 is a clear winner. First of all, it has a bigger panel. Secondly, it comes with a better color reproduction thanks to both a high 108 percent DCI-P3 coverage and the HDR10 technology. Last but not least, the display has a 120 Hz refresh ratio which is something amazing for a gaming phone. And it even features 240 Hz touch sensing for more reactive gameplay. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro lacks a lot of these things. It still comes with high DCI-P3 coverage (100 percent) and 240 Hz touch sensing, but it does not have 120 Hz refresh ratio and it is not even HDR10-compliant.

Specs & Software

Performance is the key feature of these devices: they are both equipped with the best processor out there: an octa-core Snapdragon 855 Plus which offers 15 percent more graphics performance compared to its predecessor, as well as a higher clock frequency. With its UFS 3.0 storage, Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro just obtained the highest score ever seen on AnTuTu (500k), but we believe Asus ROG Phone 2 will be at the same level. Note that the latter will even allow users to switch between a stock Android user interface and a customized one for true gamers.

Camera

These are not camera phones, but it does not mean that they have a bad camera quality. They are more or less at the same level with a main 48 MP sensor without OIS, as well as a secondary telephoto sensor. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro comes with a standard 4000 mAh battery, so there is definitely no challenge. Asus ROG Phone 2 has even a faster charging technology, but given that its battery is a lot bigger, it will never reach 100 percent before its opponent.

Asus ROG Phone 2 just launched in China with a €900/$1000 starting price, while Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro costs just €450/$500 in its most affordable variant. Yesterday, Xiaomi’s gaming brand Black Shark launched the Black Shark 2 Pro, its next-generation gaming phone. The gaming phone’s main highlight is no doubt the Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset which it packs. The design is another beautiful one as we can see from these hands-on pictures hitting us courtesy of  Chinese blog MyDrivers. Let’s take a look at the design.

Black Shark 2 Pro utilises a mix of metal and glass which enhances the aesthetics while also improving the phone’s cooling and antenna performance. The design is almost similar to the previous-gen model except for some improvement in the material used. In addition, the black shark still retains the breathing light logo at the back and LED strips on both sides. The new design is inspired by the X-design language of a Formula 1 sports car.

The streamer illusion lighting system illuminates during gameplay and for incoming call message. In the scenes such as music, you can experience the cool and changeable color.

The device has a volume rockers at the left side of the display while at the right side is the power button and a dedicated button which we haven’t figured out the purpose. The device also uses a Type-C port but lacks a 3.5mm audio jack. Xiaomi is shipping the phone with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter.

The Black Shark 2 Pro keeps the 6.39-inch Samsung AMOLED display of its sibling with some new features. It has DCI-P3 color gamut, DC Dimming 2.0, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and the touch response speed is now 34.7ms an improvement from the previous generation’s 43.5ms.

There are a 20MP selfie camera and 48MP + 12MP dual rear cameras. The Black Shark 2 Pro also has an in-display fingerprint scanner and packs a 4000mAh battery with support for 27W fast-charging technology. Black Shark has announced a new phone for its gaming smartphones lineup. The Black Shark Pro 2 is a slightly more powerful version of the Black Shark 2 that launched a few months ago.

The main selling point of the Black Shark 2 Pro is its processor – the Snapdragon 855 Plus – which was announced recently. It is the second smartphone to launch with the new chipset after the ASUS ROG Phone 2.

The Snapdragon 855 Plus has higher clock speeds (CPU and GPU) than the Snapdragon 855. Black Shark even bragged about the phone’s performance; sharing its AnTuTu score of 500,610 points at the launch. The processor is paired with 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

The Black Shark 2 Pro not only boasts a new processor but has also undergone a slight redesign. The new design is inspired by the X-design language of a Formula 1 sports car. It also comes in five colors. There is Black (above), Ice Silver, Blue (with an orange accent), Purple, and a Bright Orange.

Black Shark also released three custom editions with an inscription written in red on the back of the phone. Of the three custom editions, one is a special gold variant specially made for Li Qilin, the CEO of Li Ning, the Chinese sporting goods.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro gaming smartphone will be launching tomorrow in China. Ahead of the launch, the smartphone has appeared on Geekbench and AnTuTu to reveal some of its key specs. During the week, Black Shark had released a teaser video to confirm that the Snapdragon 855+ chipset powering the smartphone. Through a fresh leak, the storage, RAM and color editions of the phone have been revealed. Also, another leak has revealed the front view of the phone.

Black Shark 2 Pro Variants

According to MySmartPrice, the Black Shark 2 Pro will come in three editions such as 12 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage. Hence, it may not arrive in 6 GB / 8 GB RAM options and 128 GB storage editions like the Black Shark 2 phone. Since it’s a Pro model, Xiaomi will be probably offering it with topnotch specs.

The publication has also revealed that the smartphone will be available in three colors such as Black, Blue and Ice Shades. The following video released by Black Shark is an official confirmation that the newly Snapdragon 855+ will be fueling the smartphone.

Black Shark 2 Pro Leaked Image

A leaked image of the alleged Black Shark 2 Pro has also appeared to reveal its front design. Unfortunately, the device is held in such a way that it difficult to guess whether it features a notch or not. However, since Black Shark 2 features a notch-less display with a tall aspect ratio, the Pro model may also come with an identical screen. It is known that the Black Shark 2 Pro will carry support for DC dimming 2.0. Shown below is the leaked image of the rear shell of the phone that had appeared in the last week.

The exact size of the Black Shark 2 Pro’s battery is not known yet. However, its 3C certification that was spotted at the beginning of this month had revealed that it will come with a 27W fast charger. The pricing of the phone is not known yet. Currently, it is up for reservations in the home market.

A couple of days ago, Black Shark released a poster revealing that it would launch a Black Shark 2 Pro on July 30. A few days later, we got confirmation that it would come running the latest and greatest Snapdragon 855+ SoC, thanks to a Geekbench listing of the device. Now AnTuTu benchmarks for the device have made an appearance over on Weibo.

The version of the Black Shark 2 Pro running the benchmark is the 12GB + 256GB version, and it’s got some excellent results. The device manages to score an impressive 405598 points, almost 30,000 points higher than the Black Shark 2’s score. The main contributor to this higher score seems to be the GPU performance, which is excellent for a gaming phone.

It seems like Black Shark are really gearing up to compete in the gaming phone market. Thanks to Weibo, we know that the new device will be sporting a redesigned rear panel, and possibly a brand new front as well. What we’d like to know is whether the company’s got a display with a higher refresh rate now, as it’s becoming the norm for gaming  phones to have them. Also, will we finally get a headphone jack this time?

Things are certainly heating up in the mobile gaming market. The Black Shark 2 Pro will face tough competition out of the gate from Asus’s ROG Phone 2, which is one of, if not the most well equipped phone we’ve ever seen. If Black Shark wants to stand a chance, they’re going to need something special. Snapdragon 855+ is a start, but we hope to see more soon.

Xiaomi will be launching the Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone on July 30. With few days remaining for the launch, the Chinese firm has started receiving reservations of the smartphone from today. It will be arriving as the second phone powered by the newly announced Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform that was seen on the newly ASUS ROG Phone 2 gaming phone.

The Black Shark 2 Pro is now up for reservations through multiple platforms such as official Black Shark site, Xiaomi Mall and Jingdong Mall. On JD, the Black Shark 2 Pro has a placeholder image and pricing of 8888 Yuan. Apart form DC dimming 2.0 support, the JD listing of the smartphone does not have any information on its specifications. Also, the official Weibo channel of Black Shark has revealed that the Black Shark 2 Pro will come with many accessories and peripherals. Xiaomi has officially confirmed that it will be fueled by SD855+.

Since the Black Shark 2 Pro will be an advanced version of the Black Shark 2 gaming phone that was announced in March in China, the new phone could be coming with some identical specs. However, it could be coming with major improvements like SD855+ and accessories. Recently, a listing of the Black Shark 2 Pro phone was spotted on Geekbench benchmarking platform. It revealed that the flagship SoC powering the phone is coupled with 12 GB of RAM and it runs on Android 9 Pie OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the Black Shark 2 Pro has respectively scored 3632 and 11304 points.

The above image of the phone found on Black Shark’s Weibo reveals that the Black Shark 2 Pro will be sporting a redesigned rear panel. The Black Shark 2 features a vertical dual camera setup placed at the top-left corner. The image of Black Shark 2 Pro shows that it is equipped with horizontal camera system. Also, the smartphone seems to be equipped with more RGB lighting than predecessor models. Hopefully, more details on the Black Shark 2 Pro will be revealed ahead of its official announcement.

Yesterday Black Shark released a poster revealing that it would launch a Black Shark 2 Pro on July 30. Prior to that, the company had teased that it would release a Snapdragon 855+ phone. We now have confirmation that the Black Shark 2 Pro is the Snapdragon 855+ phone, thanks to a Geekbench listing of the device.

The device was benchmarked yesterday as the “blackshark DLT-A0”. It runs Android 9 Pie and has 12GB of RAM. The device scored 3623 points in the single-core test and 11367 points in the multi-core test. The scores are similar to those of the ROG Phone 2 which is also powered by the Snapdragon 855+ processor, though the Black Shark scored slightly higher.

The Black Shark 2 Pro first surfaced in June when it was certified by China’s communication commission. The certification revealed it will also have 27W fast charging.

With respect to design, the Black Shark 2 Pro will likely not differ from the standard version. We also have a feeling the processor will be the only major difference between both phones.

The Black Shark 2 Pro will launch on July 30 and the event will begin at 15:00 China time and end by 17:00.

Other than ASUS and Black Shark, Nubia is also going to launch a Snapdragon 855+ version of its Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone.

Xiaomi-backed Black Shark has so far launched three gaming smartphones — Black Shark, Black Shark Helo, and Black Shark 2. Now, the company is gearing up to launch yet another smartphone model — Black Shark 2 Pro in China later this month.

The company has officially revealed through a microblogging platform Weibo that it will be launching the Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone at a launch event on 30th July. The phone is expected to come powered by the newly announced Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC.

A couple of days ago, when Qualcomm announced the upgraded Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, Black Shark was among the smartphone makers to welcome the new chipset, hinting that they are working on a device powered by that chipset.

Asus has already announced that its upcoming ROG Phone 2 which is set to launch on 23rd July in China, will come powered by the SD855 Plus chipset. Given that the processor is focused towards the gaming smartphone, it’s highly likely that the Black Shark 2 Pro will be powered by the same chipset.

Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone was launched earlier this year in March, featuring a 6.39-inch AMOLED TrueView display offering Full HD+ screen resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, DC dimming, Always-on Display, eye protect mode and in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone features a dual-camera module that comprises of an f/1.7 aperture 48-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. For snapping selfies, it is equipped with a 20-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC and comes with two-style Liquid Cooling 3.0 technology can drop the processor’s temperate by up to 14 degrees. The SoC is supported by up to 12 GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It runs BlackShark OS flavored Android 9 Pie OS and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that carries support for Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging.
