Blackview’s hotly-anticipated quad-camera budget king A80 Pro finally kicked off its global sale on black Friday and it is available exclusively on AliExpress at $79.99 until December 4th. But the A80 Pro isn’t the only bargain on the market. So, let’s see a comparison between the A80 Pro and the Redmi 8A.

Design
On the front, the two models are almost identical and both come with slim bezels and waterdrop notch where a front camera is located (Redmi 8A has a smaller one). The big difference is on the back. The A80 Pro adopts an asymmetric design with the quad-camera being located on the top left whereas the Redmi 8 comes with a rear camera and logo arranged up vertically in the middle.

Display

The winner here is the A80 Pro since it comes with a bigger display and slightly higher resolution. So, the Blackview model boasts a 6.49″ 1560 x 720 display while the Redmi 8A sports a 6.22″ display with 1520 x 720 resolution. Also, the A80 Pro has an LED notification light. Both screens adopt in-cell technology for a better visual experience.

Hardware/Software

Performance-wise, the battle is tight although the phones come with SoCs from different manufacturers. The A80 Pro comes with the Helio P25 8-core SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and the Redmi 8A comes with Snapdragon 439 also coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Antutu benchmark seen in the video reveals that the A80 Pro scores 96K+ while the Redmi 8A scores 91K+. As for the OS used, Blackview went with the clean Android 9 whereas Xiaomi chooses its own MIUI 11 bases on Android 9. Don’t forget that the A80 Pro supports global LTE bands while Redmi 8A doesn’t, which makes the former even more friendly for global travelers.

Camera

Judging by the official specs, the A80 Pro’s rear camera is far superior to its opponent as it sports a quad-camera setup with Sony® 13MP main sensor assisted by a triple sub-camera setup while the Redmi 8A’s rear main lens is 12MP. But a good camera means much more than that (i.e. software optimization) so we can’t really judge until we get samples from both of them. The selfie shooter is 8MP on both phones.

Battery
When it comes to battery, the Redmi 8A is definitely better with a 5,000mAh battery while the Blackview A80 Pro features a 4,680mAh one. In addition, the Blackview A80 Pro supports 10W charging while the Redmi 8A supports 18W fast charging but it’s a pity that Redmi 8A comes with a standard a 5V/2A charger. This means that if you want to take advantage of the 18W charging, you’d have to buy an extra charger.

Price
As we said before, the A80 Pro sells at just $79.99 during the global sale. The Redmi 8A is currently priced at $149.99, almost 2 times more expensive. And by no means is it 2 times better than the A80 Pro. As a matter of fact, the overall value-for-money ratio is much higher for the A80 Pro. That was a brief comparison and you should choose what suits you best. In the meantime, you can take a look at the Blackview BF promotion on Amazon where they’re offering 10 models with up to 20% discount.

Blackview has scheduled the global open sale event for the A80 Pro in a week from now but the phone has already attracted a lot of attention since its debut earlier this month. Since the phone isn’t yet on the market, many users are eager to see how the phone looks in real-life, as they’ve only seen it in photos. So, today, Blackview uploaded a video on their YouTube channel to show the world the real thing.

Its appearance isn’t far from what most smartphones look like nowadays so Blackview decided to offer the A80 Pro in four striking colors. The company names them Gradient Blue, Coral Red, Jade Green, and Midnight Black and all come with a refined plating finish that prevents the phone from looking dull. On the contrary, it enhances the contrast of light and shadow on the 2.5D back panel, which is especially obvious under lights.

As you can see in the video, the Blackview A80 Pro is sleek and has a minimal, elegant design thanks to its curved, ergonomic shape. The rounded edges join the 2.5D curved screen and back panel, extending the smoothness from back to front.

As for its size, Blackview says it’s 162.75 x 77 x 8.8mm and the 6.49″ display achieves a 90.3% screen/body ratio. The 8.8mm thickness is somewhat impressive if you take into account that there is a big, 4680mAh battery under the hood. The battery is charged through a Type-C port located at the bottom and the device also sports a 3.5mm audio jack and LED notification light. So, all the essential features are there.

At the top left corner on the back lies the quad vertically aligned camera that comes with a Sony® IMX258 13MPmain sensor and LED flash. The fingerprint scanner is also there while the selfie shooter is placed inside the front waterdrop notch featuring an AI-driven Sony® IMX239 8MP sensor.

Overall, it looks like a much more expensive phone than it really is as, during the open sale that will start on November 29th, the price will be just $79.99. If you are interested, bear in mind that the sale will take place exclusively on Aliexpress. You can add it to your cart beforehand so that you get notified when the global open sales begin. You can also join the giveaway to be among the 10 trial users to get the A80 Pro for free.

The main camera is the killer feature of the phone as it’s a quad-camera setup consisting of a Sony® IMX258 13MP lens and 3 sub-cameras. The selfie shooter, on the other hand, features an AI-driven Sony® IMX239 8MP sensor.

Under the hood, hosts the Helio P25 8-core SoC backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Running on Android 9 Pie, these specs are more than enough for a smooth and snappy performance. Surprisingly, the body is just 8.8mm thin despite the fact that it houses a 4680mAh big battery. It also supports global LTE bands while other connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, and triple positioning system. On top of that, the A80 Pro comes in 4 color variants: Gradient Blue, Jade Green, Midnight Black, and Coral Red.

The post Blackview A80 Pro is official! Meet the quad-camera budget king (video) appeared first on Gizmochina.

Yesterday we talked about the tease poster that the CEO of Blackview posted on Facebook and today we have an official confirmation and launch date. The phone is coming on November 18th and according to the product page, it is a super budget-friendly mainstream device with a quad rear camera and 4680mAh big battery.

Blackview A80 Pro main specs

According to the Blackview A80 Pro landing page, the device comes with a 6.49″ display with In-cell technology and achieves a 90.3% screen/body ratio. One of the highlights of the phone is the Sony 13MP main sensor included in the quad rear camera which makes it on par with modern flagship counterparts.

Also, it sports a big, 4680mAh battery and runs on Android 9 Pie that feels very comfortable using the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage of the device. It also supports global LTE bands, which means you can use it all over the world.

Design

From the renders we can see there is a waterdrop notch and the bezels are quite thin. The phone features a 3D-like design with rounded corners and a just 8.8mm thin body so it should feel comfortable in hand despite the big battery under the hood. On the back, there is the quad-camera setup placed on the top left corner while there’s also a fingerprint sensor.

While yesterday’s info was that it would come in 3 different colors, it seems that there is another one after all. So, Blackview A80 Pro will be available in Red, Gradient Blue, Green, and Black.

The A80 Pro will launch in 11 days from today and we expect it to feature a pretty competitive price. After all, the slogan “quad-camera budget king” tells that the price should be extraordinary, making it the most affordable 4-camera phone to date. What do you think the price will be?

What’s more, the Chinese manufacturer is also offering 10 units through a huge giveaway in order for the winners to test the device and propose improvements. To be among the winners, you just need to guess the final global sale price of the phone. If you are interested in it, you can add it to your cart on Aliexpress right now and get notified when the sales begin.

Manufacturers are always working on developing their next devices and today, the CEO of Blackview teased the upcoming Blackview A80 Pro on his Facebook page. The photo doesn’t reveal the whole body of the device but from what is revealed, we can tell that the phone will be coming with a quad-camera setup located on the top left corner of the back cover. Also, there is a fingerprint sensor placed on the back, the good old classic spot for most phones.

Following the tease from the CEO, another render appeared showcasing a device in three colors. According to the source, the photo shows the Blackview A80 Pro as it too comes with a quad-camera setup and its body is slim with 3D glass applied. The render suggests that the phone could be available in Black, Red, and a trendy Gradient color. However, there is no information about the color palette of the gradient one.

As for when the device will hit the market, information say that it will be available this month and that it will be a mainstream device. So far, Blackview is known for its excellent rugged smartphones so, could the Blackview A80 Pro combine rugged features with the design that we see in the photos in order to stand out in the saturated mainstream smartphone market? Time will tell. Until all the specs surface, you can check out the other new models from Blackview, the flagship BV9800 Series that is currently campaigning on Kickstarter until November 8th. The top version BV9800 Pro is on offer for just $429 with a very limited quantity.
