At MWC 2024, Blackview unveiled its first clamshell foldable smartphone called the Blackview Hero 10. Unlike the expensive foldables already available on the market, BlackView has taken a different route of equipping the device with relatively modest hardware to keep the price tag down.

While the brand plans to launch this new foldable sometime in May, the Hero 10 has been listed on AliExpress with its complete spec sheet.

As per the listing, the Hero 10 unfolds to a 6.9-inch 1,080 x 2,560-pixel display (60Hz refresh rate) and 1,300 nits peak brightness. It is claimed to endure 250,000 folds. A 32MP front camera sits under a disguised punch-hole.

On the back, it has a 108MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide shooter sitting on a large camera island which also doubles as the cover display for checking notifications, messages, incoming calls, etc.

The MediaTek Helio G99 powers this foldable, paired with 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. Since it uses a Helio G99 SoC, it only provides 4G connectivity.

Apart from that, the Blackview Hero 10 has a 4,000mAh battery supported by 45W fast charging. It comes with an Android 13-based DokeOS 4.0. It is confirmed to receive the Android 14 update later this year. The foldable is also equipped with stereo speakers, NFC, and a dual-SIM slot.

The brand has confirmed three color options: Sakura Purple and Eclipse Black, all featuring a vegan leather finish. Unfortunately, the listing does not come with a price tag, however, at MWC 2024, the brand did express its plans to launch the device for around €399.

A couple of days back, we reported on a foldable smartphone priced at just €499. This device called Energizer Ultimate U660S from Avenir Telcom was showcased at MWC 2024.

It wasn’t the only affordable phone at the trade show. BlackView, a brand known for rugged smartphones also had its budget foldable on display. We got a chance to experience it briefly.

BlackView Hero 10 is the name of the brand’s first foldable smartphone. Just like other budget foldables, this one is also a clamshell vertical folding phone.

What makes it stand out is its €399 price tag. This makes it even cheaper than the aforementioned Energizer foldable. But there’s no word on its release date yet.

The specs on the two devices are different, however, they have one thing in common. Both of them are powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which makes them 4G-only handsets.

The Hero 10 flaunts a 6.9-inch centered punch-hole display. The panel offers an FHD+ (2790 x 1188 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also sports a 60Hz circular cover screen.

The handset arrives with a 108MP primary camera paired with an unspecified secondary sensor. On the front, it has a 32MP snapper.

It arrives in a single 12GB + 256GB memory configuration in multiple colors sporting a vegan leather finish. As for software, it boots outdated Android 13 with a layer of DokeOS 3.1.

Last but not least, the device is backed by a tiny 2,630mAh battery.
