<p>The company has launched several <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wearable">wearable devices</a> so far and now the China-based giant is gearing up to launch a new smartwatch. Huawei hasn&#8217;t actually confirmed this but <a href="https://nl.letsgodigital.org/wearables-smartwatches/huawei-watch-d/">a new trademark</a> from the brand indicates this.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-412274 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark.jpeg?x10805" alt="Huawei Watch D Trademark" width="1440" height="1020" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark.jpeg 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-300x213.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-768x544.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-1024x725.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-100x70.jpeg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-696x493.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-1068x757.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Huawei-Watch-D-Trademark-593x420.jpeg 593w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>
<p>It is believed that the upcoming smartwatch, which is reportedly named Huawei Watch D, will come with many health and fitness-related features, including a heart rate monitor, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/blood-pressure-monitor">blood pressure monitor</a>, and body fat monitor.</p>
<p>As of now, there&#8217;s no information about what the &#8220;D&#8221; in the device&#8217;s name indicates. The company has previously launched a smartwatch named <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/14/huawei-watch-gt-2e-review-a-sporty-smartwatch-with-accurate-health-tracking/">Watch GT</a> where the GT stands for &#8220;Gran Turismo.&#8221; It may be that Huawei is rebranding its devices and thus, opted for a simpler name for the upcoming product.</p>
<p>Whatever be the case behind the naming, we should get to know more about it in the coming weeks. What&#8217;s interesting is that this new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartwatch">smartwatch</a> will be the first one from the company to come with support for blood pressure monitoring.</p>
<p>Huawei is reportedly testing this new smartwatch and a previously leaked image of the same indicates that it looks similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/23/huawei-watch-fit-new-year-edition-china-launch-price/">Watch Fit</a>. We expect to know more about this new smartwatch in the coming days or weeks. The company has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/11/huawei-schedules-a-global-event-for-october-21-could-be-for-the-huawei-p50-series/">scheduled a global launch event</a> for P50 series smartphones on 21st October so maybe the company could announce or reveal more about the device at the same event.</p>

Furthermore, it is even planning on bringing updates for existing modes. According to sources close to the matter, internal documents have revealed that the brand is working on these new health features that are expected arrive sometime in 2022 or maybe even later.</p>
<p>The report adds that the iPhone maker might be considering to roll out the thermometer feature to the Apple Watch as early as next year. This feature is reportedly based around fertility planning, offering women insights into their ovulation cycle alongside improved detection of patterns for sleep tracking. The feature might even be able to detect when the user has fever in the future. Meanwhile, the blood pressure monitoring system could help detect hypertension by mapping rising pressure.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-369035 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-watch-series-6-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple Watch Series 6" width="700" height="467" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-watch-series-6-2.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-watch-series-6-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-watch-series-6-2-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-watch-series-6-2-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" />Similar to the temperature tracking feature, the company plans on releasing the blood pressure monitoring technology in 2022 as well. Although, the reports add that it is facing difficulties in perfecting the technology. This is also reflected with the sleep apnea detection feature as well as the company is struggling to make the readings more often without draining the Apple Watch&#8217;s battery life. Keep in mind that these features are still under study and development could be delayed or even canceled.</p>

A hidden connection port is a regular feature of Apple Watches, and this enables easy internal diagnostics by Apple and other internal tests. The prototype was shared by Guilio Zompetti and indicated the presence of two other ports which were not hidden, with a close semblance to the Apple iPad’s Smart Connector, but much smaller.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-396358" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple Watch 3 prototype" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/apple-watch-prototype-560x420.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a> The Apple Watch has evolved over the years from a simple gadget to a potent smart wearable device in some cases, capable of providing an array of health and fitness advisory and data. The Apple Watch became even more poignant during the coronavirus pandemic. They were transformed into devices capable of predicting the onset of the coronavirus several days before symptoms appeared.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Apple might have experimented on some “smart bands” in earlier revisions of Apple Watch S3. </p>
<p>On this prototype unit, two unusual pads are exposed to the band, as a sort of “Smart Connector” we’ve already seen on iPads.<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AppleCollection?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AppleCollection</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/AppleWatch?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#AppleWatch</a> <a href="https://t.co/uVFZHuvuAe">pic.twitter.com/uVFZHuvuAe</a></p>
<p>&mdash; Giulio Zompetti (@1nsane_dev) <a href="https://twitter.com/1nsane_dev/status/1408010357298319360?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 24, 2021</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<blockquote><p>&nbsp;</p></blockquote>
<p>Authoritative Apple tipster, Zompetti, in his Twitter feed relating to the prototype, says that the prototype is an Apple Watch 3 prototype which the company was testing back then. From the prototype image, it seems Apple was working on including a pair of Smart Connectors which may function for blood pressure monitoring. The connectors are located where the band of the watch would sit, meaning it would work with the smart band to perform the function. However, the optics of how the blood pressure sensor will interface with the Smart Band is unknown, as the tipster did not provide any additional information in this direction.</p>
<p>Apple is getting set to launch the Watch Series 7 but we can&#8217;t say if this feature will make it into the model.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389935 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Screenshot-269.png?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="662" height="247" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Screenshot-269.png 662w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Screenshot-269-300x112.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px" /></p>
<p>The news arrived from the official Weibo account (@<a href="https://weibo.com/hegang10135?is_all=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">华为何刚</a>) of the President of Huawei&#8217;s Consumer Business Mobile Phone Product Line. On the Chinese microblogging website, the senior executive stated that the upcoming wearable as passed the medical device registeration test and will be starting with registered clinical trials with professional medical institutions. He further added that the device will be available in the second half of 2021.</p>
<p>Previously, the Chinese tech giant had announced that it had began research into three new health related studies. This inlcudes hypertension management research, smart body temperature health research, and coronary heart disease screening research. So, we can expect the new feature of blood pressure monitoring tying in with these studies as well. Furthermore, this could also lead to improvements and newer features in future wearables from the company.</p>

<p>The President of Huawei&#8217;s Consumer Business Mobile Phone Product Line had also said in a conference that the brand is working on a blood pressure measurement equipment. Unfortunately, we do not have finer details regarding this upcoming smart watch. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available and cover any crucial developments regarding this matter.</p>
