In most cases, the user isn&#8217;t allowed to remove those apps.</p>
<p>However, it seems that the Europen Union is <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/1773edd6-7f1d-4290-93b6-05965a4ff0db">planning to change that</a> by forcing manufacturers to allow users to remove bloatware. This is a part of the Digital Services Act that is expected to pass by the end of this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-225794 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/messaging-apps.jpg?x96852" alt="messaging-apps" width="730" height="410" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/messaging-apps.jpg 730w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/messaging-apps-300x168.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> <a title="Mi 10T series arrives with impressive displays, 5G, big batteries, and competitive price tags" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/30/mi-10t-series-arrives-with-impressive-displays-5g-big-batteries-and-competitive-price-tags/" rel="bookmark">Mi 10T series arrives with impressive displays, 5G, big batteries, and competitive price tags</a></strong></p>
<p>The act would not be applicable in markets like the United States, where most of the bloatware is from the network carrier. However, it would affect companies like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> that pre-load their own suite of apps.</p>
<p>As the name of the act itself indicates, it aims to tackle the dominance of big technology companies on the Internet. It would block companies like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amazon">Amazon</a> from using platform data for their own commercial activities and would also prohibit &#8220;gatekeeper platforms&#8221; from using advertising data. The act also aims to block big tech companies from giving preferential treatment of their own services.</p>
<p>The Europen Union has been working on coming up with new policies that are customer-friendly. Earlier this year, it voted to adopt a single universal charging solution for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartphones">smartphones</a>, enabling customers to use a single charger for all of their smartphones and tablet devices.</p>
